Can Collectible Popcorn Buckets Save Movie Theaters? | Eater

"A major theater exhibitor that has long sold themed metal collector buckets expanded into a strategy of maximalist, memeable novelty vessels to drive in-theatre merchandise sales. Recent tie-ins range from a pink toy Corvette (which included popcorn and a doll at a premium price) to a viral sandworm-lid bucket for a big sci-fi release; these roughly $30 collectibles often include popcorn and are positioned to boost per-visitor revenue while creating shareable moments. The approach deliberately trades on absurdity and internet humor to keep films in cultural conversation and encourage repeat visits and secondary-market interest." - Bettina Makalintal

IMAX was good. We saw the John Lennon documentary. The sound was extremely loud. The seats don't decline.

Google
Comfy seats, clean theater, nice bathrooms, kind employees, great customer service, and we have always had a good experience here. The candy/popcorn area seems to move quickly -the line may look long but it moves quickly. The theatre seems to stock a nice variety of different types of candy. The fast food area is continually being kept clean. The popcorn can be refilled once. If you buy one of their loyalty cups, you can get cheap refills of soda or Icee. Nice place to go to as a family.

Google
Old run down. Terrible chairs from the 70s (you know the ones). Please update with some good reclining seats like all the other theaters. Harkins at 101 is much nicer.

Easy check in if you purchased the tickets online, just show them the QR code and they scan it, voila, you are in. Restrooms are clean and with large mirrors, you can refresh yourself easily there before you go out and rejoin your party/date. The recliner seats ( I have 2 at home but these are even better)are so comfortable, I don't want to get up after 3 plus hours there (for Matrix 4). It is a dine in theater so we also ordered food, drink, popcorn and ice cream, all good with the nice tray table. I really enjoyed this visit.

AMC & IMAX Judy Hopps? Reserved Seating?

Google
This is a nicely located theater with comfortable seating and good options for bites to eat and drinks to have. With the ability to reserve your seats online you'll always be able to have the chance to sit right in your comfort zone. Dolby experience is most amazing for those movies you just want to get lost in. Check out their A-List it's definitely worth it

Google
$20 ticket, not worth it, very poor experience. Started with concessions out of large popcorn bags Friday night, I can understand Monday or even Sunday after a busy weekend but going into a weekend... next I used the restroom, 3 out of 4 soap dispensers out of soap, paper towel dispenser out, and in the lobby both hand sanitizers empty during a pandemic!!!...finally they smash the showtikes so close together, they wouldn't let people into the theatre until 7 min before the show so I missed out on a lot of the pre show entertainment. This place needs better management lots of choices near here so I wont be back.

Google
So not only was the power going on and off during the day but I felt horrible for the staff who had to deal with the upset movie goers. Horrible on management's part. The theater had been having problems for days but they were still allowing people in to see their movies only for the power to go out on them. Why let people in?? You guys just made it more of a mess for yourselves and staff to hand out refunds and waste people's time instead of making sure the issue with the power was fixed. Again this review is not in response to the workers, they were amazing in handing out refunds and being super levelheaded in a tough situation.

Yelp
Customer service was great. Even helped explain my investor reward to me silly I know lol. Everything was laid out AMAZING! -pros Pop machines all were stocked working great icee machine was working and good Floors were vacuumed and clean -Cons Popcorn was a little cold and burnt towards bottom of the tub Restrooms mens was clean but had numerous urinals out of order/broken and stalls were atrocious, women's (per my wife) were a complete dumpster fire. Was rushed out of the movie by the cleaner my party and another 2 other who were waiting for the fantastic 4 final end credit were told to leave or stand in the corner that they needed to clean. The above issues come at going to a movie at 1530 so well before the rush so not sure why the issues. But will give the higher rating and see if it gets better as this is the amc I go to on my way home to decompress after work as always AMC Stubs is a great way to beat that east valley traffic!

Yelp
We went to see the new Superman, which was pretty good. One of the previews looked blurry, or maybe like it was 3D, and that was weird. Until the movie started. At which point my companion went out to the lobby, where he was told that oops, that showing is in 3D, and they should've been giving out glasses. I'm knocking off a star for that, because making sure guests in 3D theaters have 3D glasses is a major function of their business. Still, the hot food, ordered at the counter and brought to your seat, and regular movie snacks, are fantastic. My companion had mozzarella sticks, I had the nachos, and we both indulged in a little popcorn. What's a movie without it? And theirs is delicious. If you're into watching movies in theaters, this is a great choice.

Yelp
Walking into this movie theater felt like walking into a time capsule from 1998...that no one's cleaned since. Tonight I surprised my husband with IMAX tickets to see F1--he'd been looking forward to this movie for months. While the movie itself was amazing, the theater experience was awful. First of all, the temperature in the lobby was hotter than a sauna. We figured it would get better inside the actual theater, but it didn't. Now let's talk about the IMAX theater. Absolutely disgusting. Filthy!! The seats were threadbare and so grimy and uncomfortable I considered sitting on the popcorn-strewn floor. Mystery stains everywhere, popcorn everywhere, and the upholstery looked like it had been through a frat party and then used as a litter box. The bathrooms were just as bad. Ladies' room had toilet paper everywhere, sticky floors from spilled drinks, and overflowing trash. According to my husband, the men's room "smelled like a truck stop urinal." A lovely touch. We didn't even bother asking for a refund--we just wanted OUT. For nearly $50 (just for the tickets... it was over $100 with the food and drinks!) this experience was a joke. You're charging premium prices for this level of filth and neglect? AMC, do better. As for this location: remodel it, downgrade it to a dollar theater, or just shut it down entirely. Your customers deserve way more than this mess.

Yelp
I enjoyed watching Megan 2, the movie wasn't as good as the first one. But the theater looked well maintained after reading some of the reviews. Service was great and the inky issue was the seats were a little tight from what I was used to. I'm a Cinemark member and the seats are more spacious.
google avatar

Rosemary D.

Yelp
Clean theatre, concession lines went quickly and the AC works, also clean bathrooms. We saw fantastic 4 and loved to choose our seats that recline and are comfortable.

Yelp
Comfy seats, very pleasant staff. I needed help with check in and jumped to assist. We had fun.

Yelp
I've never been to this theatre, but my son wanted to see the new Jurassic movie. So I got online to book with Roadhouse but they were sold out. So I searched and AMC came up. I selected Thursday and the seats and paid. THIS WAS OBVIOUSLY MY FAULT..... but when I looked at my purchase I noticed that the tickets were for the following Thursday not this Thursday, not sure how I screwed up but I did. I immediately went to return option and it refunded me only partial payment not the full amount I was charged. I definitely will not ever go here. Roadhouse is WAY WAY BETTER. Not to mention that AMC charged me $56 for 3 tickets. And Roadhouse was only $36! Insane.

Yelp
AMC Dine-In isn't a typical theater so it's a bit pricier because it offers the option to order full meals, including appetizers, entrees, and desserts, and enjoy them right from your seat during the movie, creating a restaurant-like experience inside the theater. We hadn't planned on going there; we were just at Desert Ridge and stopped by to use the restroom. The guy in front of us was incredibly kind and sweet, letting us go inside. Afterward, we did some shopping and felt so good from his positive energy that we decided to watch a movie. The theater could use some renovation and a deep cleaning, but we didn't mind much because we were having such a great time. We watched the monkey movie, had a blast with our popcorn, and I loved being a member, especially for the free refills. Even though they charged me for jalapeños, it was fine.

Yelp
We purchased advance tickets on Fandango. With Fandango you may choose your reserved seat in advance. There is a surcharge to use this service but no problem. The lounge chairs are comfortable with a desk like area for food and a cup holder for drinks. We saw Wicked which is excellent. It's almost a 3 hour movie and time flew by. My only comment is the sound is so loud, even my iWatch told me it was above 90 decibels. I felt a bit deaf when leaving. Shared parking lot and WiFi in many of the larger stores.
google avatar

Vernee D.

Yelp
My husband and I bought tickets to watch a movie yesterday and were planning on doing dine-in. Our breakfast ended up starting late so we weren't hungry by the time we checked in. But, we were able to get our order of popcorn, drinks, and candy brought over to us. We've been to this theater multiple times before when we worked in the area, but since we've left we haven't really been able to come here. The theater was clean when we got in, and the bathrooms were also very clean. We didn't run into any issues and the movie we watched had good audio. Good theater and good dine-in options if you're in the area!

Yelp
Purchasing tickets online was a breeze. Checking in & getting refreshments either at the concession stand or delivered to your seat was also super simple. There are a lot of stalls in the women's bathrooms but I will say I was underwhelmed by the cleanliness of it and the odor. The seats are comfortable and roomy. It didn't feel too cold or too loud. Would definitely return. I do wish they'd properly address whatever that odd odor is in the bathroom through. It's not the smell of someone having just gone to the bathroom but it wasn't clean smelling either.
google avatar

Steve M.

Yelp
We came for the IMAX, this is not the real IMAX & the seats are leftover from the 80's , they're severely worn with no cushion left on the seat, the armrests are filthy. The woman's restroom is disgusting, she had to check 5 stalls before finding one that didn't have a broken door or was not dirty. This is not a 2024 theater, no side table or leather chairs. We will not return! Only reason for 2 star is because the screen was large.

Xavier M.

Yelp
Went to Dolby theatre for Fantastic 4 great sound and visuals but seats were very close together and it was kinda hot in there. It was end of July in phoenix and not being able to go inside to a cold theater ruined the experience for me. Overall 3.5 out of 5 for me

Yelp
This is a review of our IMAX experience today. We saw the new (and I believe last) Mission Impossible movie. Movie itself was 5*. We were in row C. I figured it would likely feel too close but was not prepared for the neck pain from cranking my head up. If AMC had installed seats that reclined a bit this would not be a problem. These seats didn't recline at all. Say it with me: movies do not need to be played at 110 decibels! No, they do not. I promise! You can still get the base and all the effects at decibels that do not literally damage your ears! AMC needs to fix this, not only to entice people back to their theaters but for the sake of public health. Just do this right thing! Apart from that we see movies at this location about four, maybe five times, per year. AMC's recliners are 100% what got me going back to movie theaters again (this was several years ago) so I'm fairly loyal to AMC. I appreciate how they bring food to your seats and love being able to purchase tickets, select seats, and order food ahead of time. But really, if AMC doesn't get their volume under control then I won't be going back. And I'll avoid their IMAX theaters if they don't offer the recliners. After all, my home set up is pretty comfy so they have to do better than that if they want me to pay the high prices.

Susan M.

Yelp
I'm wrestling between one and two but giving benefit of the doubt as the film has not yet started. We just arrived at the IMAX. The seats are utterly filthy - the seats and armrests up and down the line are encrusted in ancient grime, our drink tray was filled with gross dirty tissues. The bathrooms are filthy. The seats do not recline, as do seats in most theaters in this town. This place needs a complete rehab from top to bottom and everything in between. AMC, you should be mortified to serve the public with such disrespect.

Yelp
Went here instead of Harkins for Imax. What a disappointment. Super uncomfortable and worn out seats. It felt like sitting in coach on a cheap airline. The bathroom was dirty with visible mold first thing in the morning. And, the theater smells. And the movie was so loud I had to cover my ears. It was actually awful. No thanks. Harkins is far superior and a lot more affordable. I wish I read the reviews first. Not sure the appeal of Imax. I rather watch a movie at home where it is clean and comfortable.

Yelp
We went to see the new Lilo and Stitch movie at this AMC today and our theater experience was great (the movie was great too!) We purchased tickets in the app the day prior and it was easy to do. We were able to walk right in with our tickets on our phone and there was no line at the snack counter. The Dolby theater was clean and the sound and picture were excellent. It has been awhile since I have been to a movie theater but we will definitely be going back to this AMC .

Joshua Z.

Yelp
We tried to give this theater another shot and the conditions have gotten even WORSE! The theater experience is very low tier, definitely no where near worth what they charge. Thread-bare seats, sticky floors, trash left between movie showings; and 30 painfully long minutes of commercials and ads mixed with a few trailers that don't start until AFTER the movie was scheduled to start. Not worth the money. Horrible experience and gives the impression AMC does not value customers. Huge rip off. This theater needs a major overhaul or it should be shut down. Harkins is clean, has way better seats, less ads to wait through, and it's cheaper. AMC needs to give more effort or give up
google avatar

Leslie M G.

Yelp
No option for unsalted Popcorn! WHAT! WHY!? If Harkins can do it why can't AMC? Life is too short for hypertension and rigidity of nonsensical poor health choices. So, I will be going to Harkins 101 and Shea Harkins from now on. https://www.harkins.com/theatres/scottsdale-101-14/2025-03-16

Yelp
I have not been to an AMC Movie theater in years, so my experience was an absolute shocker. This place was absolutely filthy and disgusting! I don't know if something happened before I arrived for my 10 o'clock movie, BUT the floors from the lobby all the way to the theater where the movie was showing was just very appalling. There were different piles of popcorn everywhere. It really looked like no one had swept/cleaned in several hours. In the actual theater room, some of the seats were dirty, the floor was dirty, and garbage cans were overflowing. I will never step foot in another AMC if I can help it.
google avatar

Stephanie P.

Yelp
The theater is nice, clean but the theater we were in was so HOT . We even mentioned it to staff. Just sucks to be uncomfortable.
google avatar

Belen L.

Yelp
Movie theater was soo hot, I was so uncomfortable the entire movie. Other guest complained about the heat as well. This isn't the first time AMC Has hot theaters and we're in ARIZONA!!
google avatar

Aleena B.

Yelp
Service has been amazing especially with a situation on our chicken tenders. There's usually never an issue and by far my favorite chicken tenders but the one time around they accidentally got overcooked or just forgot to change the oil not sure but it was quickly fixed and handled. The theaters always clean and the staff here is very kind. It seems like AMC has improved a lot in the last year. I love the Dine In. Their AMC stubs membership makes complete sense if you frequent the movies a lot. My spouse and I go just about once a week.
google avatar

Risto K.

Yelp
Nothing more than a regular theater! Advertised as Dine-In as a first time customer I was thinking of a real dining experience: Seats table server and all nine yards. But no. This is a typical moves theater where you can order drinks and food and bring it yourself to your seat. Menu choices are fast food. I would say this was a false advertising. Also tickets are sold via kiosk and they are very very light on personnel. Seats are old and worn off....not sure how long this type of business will survive....

G W.

Yelp
This theater is one of the worst I've been in. It's beyond outdated, dirty, bathrooms smell awful, popcorn is bad- stale and butter topping tastes like rancid coconut oil. The bartender is friendly and the male either mgr or asst mgr is responsive, but the rest of the employees are unprofessional. Theater doors are never closed once movies start so you hear noise from the hall or other theaters nearby. Have tried this theater a few times on occasion, but nothing improves.

Angela C.

Yelp
I'll start with I like all the restaurant options but this theater the seats are broken down some will not lay back which is what happen to us on last visit. Also for more than a year now the woman's bathroom smells so nasty it's most likely a fix that cost a lot of money which is why they aren't fixing it. They have tried putting in scents to cover it up but it doesn't come close. Also the ticket prices for a 1p movie more than Harkins which is only 10 minutes away. Harkins theater is clean and doesn't have a terrible Oder. Like I said Harkins doesn't have a restaurant/table at each chair. I real not worth your seat not working or caving in on one side, the smell, and higher prices.
google avatar

Ra R.

Yelp
Very clean. Staff is so kind. They make it so easy to get tickets. They have every snack you could ever want.
google avatar

Carol W.

Yelp
Went to go see Deadpool & Wolverine. It was great. Hadn't been to the movies since before covid. I love the reclining seats and the online ordering. Everything brought to our seats didn't even have to wait in-line. AMC is the best! Love the rewards too! Thank you for an affordable night out.

Catherine M.

Yelp
Always dirty and sticky! Dislike touching anything .. especially when you compare it to a Harkins Theater and how much cleaner they are and how much more pleasant of an experience it is ..

Jenevieve S.

Yelp
This theatre is disgusting. I walked in with my kids to watch Snow White, and there is popcorn ground into all of our seats. Not like "oh it was hidden and easily missed during cleaning" - copious amounts of popcorn. Popcorn on our seats, on our tray, on the carpet. The entire place was sticky and disgusting. So unappetizing it made it hard to enjoy our dinner we overpaid for.
google avatar

Liz R.

Yelp
This was certainly the way to see the 3-hour Oppenheimer movie - very comfortable seats and good food choices! My tip would be to make sure you to order your food prior to entering the movie theater so you don't have to wait in line and they deliver it right to your seat. This was a great date location. Staff was very friendly, movie theater was clean, theatergoers were respectful and quiet during the movie. PS when attending three hour movies make sure to download the app RunPee so you can see when will be a good time to skip out for a break.

Yelp
Saturday at 12:30 pm I arrived at this theatre To Witness yet another Thrill a Second , Mission Impossible Movie. This was Adrenaline Junkies Dream AAA + EPIC Nirvana Movie! When you get to your seat Strap Yourself In for 156 minutes from beginning to end ! My only regret is having to take Two Pee Brakes. I noticed if a Younger man had to Pee it was once. Back to the movie . I loved, enjoyed every second of this Ensemble Cast of Old faces and New Talented Actors. Hats off to All if you for Your Superb Skilled Performances. Tom Cruise Is a Gifted Actor who performs his OWN STUNTS. GO TOM GO . The car chases are OMG Frontwards. Backwards, Sideways ,Down Steps Through Walls , On RailWay Tracks. Tom "Takes A Licking." He stands Head and Shoulders above 90% of His Contemporaries because he'll Risk both Life & Limb to entertain US his Audience. I give this Film My Highest Rating 25 Jeffrey's. Yes Fans and Fellow Elite Yelpers ; today mark The Inauguration of the Highest Coveted Award Anywhere on the Planet; THE JEFFREY. Go See this incredible movie . I have be going to Movies since 1952! Now everyone knows may age yet you Don't Really

Yelp
Bummed out. My friend and I went to watch a movie, and were asked to scoot over by some middle schoolers with admittedly no tickets to the movie (it was rated r), then we were asked weird questions, and dealt with not only the talking and PDA the entire movie, but them getting up in pairs (boy girl) to go to the bathroom every couple of minutes. We went to the workers about 20 minutes in, with a promise to do something about them. Nothing happened the entire movie. Other than the PDA and talking loudly got worse. Don't even remember the movie we were so disrupted. Wish they got kicked out or talked to.

Karen H.

Yelp
This is the place to go if you want to smell sewer in the hallways and in the bathrooms, it was gone but it's back. And if you want to have the previews class today that you so loud that you get a headache even with your hands over your ears this is a great place for that too. Asking for them to turn it down has never worked

Yelp
There manager should lose her job for how poorly she takes customers satisfaction seriously and does not care her employees lie. Although she knows, she doesn't care. Our seats didn't work. We spend easily $100 in beverages and told us we would get. Refund for everything. Ruined our night. What do they do? Give us tickets to see another movie after second in charge promised we would get everything reimbursed. She then refused to come out and talk to me and sent out the manager who apparently got lied to. The Maher didn't find a solution, she lied to me. No refunds for anything.. for customers, they will sell them seats that don't work, make a bunch of promises, then LIE. I hope the manager responds to this because I have the conversation recorded verbatim. As for the people I was with, we are all submitting this review. So if you're looking for a dine in movie theater with seats reclining and to dine in. Don't expect that. They screwed us over, the manager did, if you're told you will be completely reimbursed then lie and say it's not the case and have employees lying to each other, let's be frank, the location isn't going to be there much longer and the landlord should be aware of the fact that they are the reason the center is going to become less busy. You don't give extra movie tickets to solve the problem when you promise that you will reimburse every penny spent. Again, I have the recorded conversation and whomever the managers boss and the person working under the manager are going to become aware of these conversations if they do not fix this right now. My guess is that they will get chewed out or fired. As for those free tickets, we will might as well shred them. I don't want to ever step foot in that building again.

Yelp
The seats in the imax are the worst I have ever sat in. Days later and I'm still dealing with 10/10 back and hip pain caused by the medieval torture devices this cheap theater tries to pass off as seating. The human body is not meant to sit at a complete immobile 90 degree angle, especially since the design of this particular imax means you're gonna be straining your neck looking straight up in the air to see a fake imax image. I will absolutely under no circumstances see a film in this imax theater again.

Phil L.

Yelp
This theater needs to learn a thing or two from Harkins theaters. This theater is often dirty even though there appears to be sufficient staff around. Clearly a management and training issue. Also, the quality of the projection system varies from theater to theater, indicative of lack of maintenance and care. We saw a movie in theater 15 yesterday and the image was dark and not as sharp as it should be. I would frequent other movie theater chains if I wasn't an A-List member (whose value can't be beat).
google avatar

Ali B.

Yelp
I was always a harkins girl growing up but my husband prefers AMC so I have been to this location quite a bit in the last few years! It's always clean, service is good, food is ok but like it's from a movie theater so not expected to be amazing. Comfy seats, definitely will continue to be a return customer!
google avatar

Mel J.

Yelp
First off horribly overpriced. I will never be attending an AMC again. This location was so unsanitary, all the trash cans were full, the bathrooms were gross and in disarray. Every single stall. The part that is so unbelievable to me , the workers were playing rap music through bluetooth behind the concession stand . Like what?! That is so unacceptable , explicit rap music. I will be contacting corporate
google avatar

Bunny G.

Yelp
A little lost in the times. We've been so spoiled with theatre seating so I was disappointed to find no remodeling done here! The sound in the Indiana Jones movie was distractingly loud. Ugh quality control needed here.
google avatar

Sami F.

Yelp
If I could post a zero, I would. My only experiences with AMC are usually at the Biltmore location where it hasn't been so dirty or lacking in menu items. When we went to see the new Buzz Lightyear movie this summer, the theater main area was super dirty, they were out of napkins and the line was super long to order food. NO notice posted stating everything was out on their menu, so instead of us having the option to leave and buy food and snacks, we waited in this long line and are told at the front they are out of everything except hot dogs and popcorn.... Umm, what?! So we ordered a popcorn and the teen working the counter asked for my movie ticket. I didn't have it since our friends bought the tickets and were ordering us cocktails at the bar (we split up since it was so chaotic and disorganized in there). I asked for butter in the middle of the popcorn and the girl said, "you put your own butter on it". It took us all a while to find our theater, too, since the screens outside the theater entrances were nearly all broken and no one ever directed us to a theater number. I'm not a Harkins only person, however now I see why harkins is so successful. AMC could learn a thing or two from them.... Despite being out of things, all you have to do is be nice and apologize. They should have had a sign stating the only items they had available at the end of the long line and let guests choose to purchase and bring in since no one notified the guests before hand.

Yelp
Have been going here because its the closest AMC with premium features such as Dolby digital and Imax. But Holy hell has the quality and service at this location declined through the years. The lights inside the theatre hall are never turned off until someone goes out to talk to the staff. Movies never start on time. The seats and trays are not cleaned as often as they should be. Ice machines are constantly down or out of ice. On 03/25/24, my experience here really took the cake. The movie, which was a rare event, only offered for one sole day throughout the entire country, was supposed to begin at 7pm. All of us seated in the theatre ( mind you, with employees trickling in every few minutes to delivered food) are wondering what in the world is happening. 7:15pm, screen still pitch black, no signs of life, lights within the theatre hall still on. Employees coming in to deliver food not even acknowledging how awkward and messed it is that NOTHING was happening on screen. Then, 7:20 hits and the movie just starts. NOT from the beginning, but at the point of the movie that we should have been at if the movie had started rolling on time. This infuriated everyone but we all felt trapped because to walk out and not see the movie is to miss out on the chance to watch it on the big screen forever. This movie aired for ONE day only that we know of for the U.S. We were fortunate that it even came to the U.S. as other major countries like Canada still have no word or detail. But if it were any other movie or if I knew I'd have future opportunities, I would have walked out and demanded I be refunded.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying every staff member was extremely pleasant and I appreciate the customer service I received. My issue with my last visit was the cleanliness of the theater. The lobby was covered in popcorn and trash and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The carpet and tile was littered with miscellaneous garbage and parts of the floor were sticky. When I entered the theater to watch my movie it was worse than the lobby. We had gotten there early and waited for the cleaners to be done after the previous showing. When we walked in the ground was once again littered with popcorn, straw and candy wrappers and empty popcorn bags and empty drink cups were still present throughout most of the theater. When we finally got to our seats they had popcorn on both of them which wasn't too big of a deal. My biggest issue was that the seats were visibly covered in grease. Even in the low light I could see how disgusting the seats where and refused to sit down. I went back out to the hallway but could not find anyone to relay this to. I ended up going to the restroom to grab wet and dry paper towels to wipe down the seats for my fiancé and I myself as I wasn't going to sit otherwise. Even after wiping down the seats we chose to sit on our jackets as the seats still looked disgusting. I have been to this theater in the past and have not noticed this issue but I am now unsure if I will return to this location or AMC theaters in general. If you plan on watching a movie here be prepared for a filthy building and potentially having to clean your own seats.

Yelp
YUCK! is all I can say about this movie theater. We paid for IMAX and what a joke! The theater is small and feels cramped not worth the money. We found the theater to be dirty - not very good about keeping it picked up after shows. The concession line was sooooo long - my husband had to have popcorn, so OK we waited. But here's the funny part. YOU have to butter your own popcorn. We purchased an $11.00 bucket of popcorn and have to butter our own ....WTH????? Seriously the employees couldn't care less about serving the customers - it's a Friday night and you have 2 people running registers and about a zillion employees standing around in clear view chatting with each other? Never returning to this place ever!!

Yelp
I did not feel that the IMAX theater was really IMAX. We went there for the Blue Angels movie and it was was quite inimpressive. It was not the experience that I'd hoped for AND PAID EXTRA for.

Yelp
For the love of God get the disquieting carpets cleaned and the seats repaired. Can't get my friends to go with me because of the maintenance and cleanliness.

Yelp
What a sad way to celebrate AMC's century of movies. During this time we have been supporting our local theaters by renting out screenings. So far we have seen Christmas Story and Hocus Pocus. Location is great, plenty of close by parking around the theater at Desert Ridge, plenty of eateries (leave room for popcorn. Starbucks is also close. This location has 18 screens, red electric recliners with aircraftstyle tables, full bar and coke freestyle machines. I can say that all staff keep masks on, spend their time cleaning, wipes are provided throughout the theater and at this sad time there is hardly a crowd.

Yelp
Not the newest most fabulous theater and the restrooms could definitely use some renovation but the location is great for us and we keep returning. Wanted to extend a huge thank you to the staff member at AMC Desert Ridge who went above and beyond to assist us yesterday. I wish we'd have gotten his name. My husband had misplaced his sunglasses and thought they may have slipped out of his pocket during a movie we'd seen a few days earlier. After checking the lost and found, the gentleman at the front desk offered to go search for them! Thankfully we had the theater and seat number for him and he unbelievibly came back with the glasses a few minutes later. We offered a small tip but were told company policy does not allow them to accept. We left elated, happy to experience this man's goodness.

Yelp
I saw "Oppenheimer" at the AMC Desert Ridge theater this past weekend. I had been looking forward to this movie for the longest time. From the very beginning of the film, I was taken out of it by the incredibly awful sound. The dialog was muddy and at times some of the other channels obscured the dialog as well. It was inexcusable to not have the sound properly dialed in for what is such a technically perfect movie. On top of that, they have ridiculously few lines open for concessions, giving priority to members at the expense of the other patrons. I had to wait on line for 15 minutes. By comparison, Harkins always has plenty of people serving and I never wait more than a few minutes. Add to this the utterly unkempt state of the place and the broken toilets in the bathrooms. My wife and I will definitely never return.
