I recently hosted my son's baptism at Amen Cafe Eritrean And Ethiopian Restaurant, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the service we received! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect for our special day. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a wonderful setting for our family and friends. The food was delicious, with a great variety that catered to all tastes. Many of our guests complimented the quality and presentation of the dishes. What truly stood out was the attention to detail and the personal touches that made the day even more memorable. The staff was always available to help, and their genuine care made all the difference. I highly recommend Amen Cafe for any special occasion. Thank you for helping to create such a beautiful memory for our family!

I hadn't noticed this place originally, and now i know why... At the time of writing this review, the restaurant has only been open for 3 weeks. So I consider it an imperative to tell yall how great this place is! Ethiopian & Eritrean food is not a cuisine I'm super familiar with. I didn't know what to expect and with only a handful of reviews, I decided to throw caution to the wind and jump right in! I was not disappointed. The place was super clean and in good repair. You could tell the heart and soul the owners put into the decor and it pays off with a very authentic atmosphere. Have you ever listened to east African music? No? Then enjoy the sounds as well! This place was 100% legit and authentic. The owners are from the country and are super friendly! They are eager to receive feedback and you can tell the passion they have for making an excellent restaurant, and they've already succeeded. Hospitality is the name of the game. Finally, and most importantly, the food. The food was incredible. It was a savory and delightful flavor palette for anyone not familiar with the cuisine, and very different from other styles of food I've tried. I ordered two entrees to sample more food and have leftovers for the weekend. I ordered the Vegetarian Sample #1 and Doro Tips (minced chicken in savory sauce). The staff know Americans aren't very familiar with their country and are very open to talking about the menu and explaining things. And the flavor of everything was fantastic! Everything was balanced well and the portions were generous. I got 3 meals out of ordering two entrees. This place is a hidden gem and they've got a fantastic handle on things already. The prices were fair, the hospitality was great and the food is to die for. If you want east African cuisine in an authentic atmosphere, come to Amen Cafe! You will NOT be disappointed. አመሰግናለሁ to the wonderful staff and good luck in your endeavor.

My girlfriend and I had our Valentine’s Day dinner at Amen. The waitress was so sweet and the food was absolutely incredible. We ordered the veggie plate #2 with a side of lamb tibs. The flavor was phenomenal and we had plenty of leftovers. I will definitely be coming by on a monthly basis since it’s close to my house and I can’t find any Ethiopian food in the city.

First time stopping into this place after seeing it new on Fredericksburg for a little time now.. food was absolutely delicious, flavors were nothing less than amazing.. to say the least. Very Authentic. I enjoyed an African beer for the first time; paired well with the meal. Friendly service, everyone in establishment was super welcoming! Come try out the place and step out your comfort zone. And

If you’ve ever had Ethiopian food or have been wanting to try it, don’t hold back. This was delicious and such friendly, welcoming service! We (2 ppl) ordered a veggie combo and the doro wot and walked away very happy and full :)

I’m here in SA for work and was craving injera. I looked up my options and this gem appeared. My first impression when arriving to this restaurant was like wow it’s so clean and beautiful and as soon as I entered the restaurant I was greeted by the staff and the regulars, with more smiles. I ordered the veggie combo and awaze tibs and my goodness it was soooo delicious! The portion was perfect as well! Literally tasted like a home cooked meal. What was the best part was that the waitress would check in on me and even the chef herself came out from the kitchen to ask how was my meal and that she is happy to take any constructive criticism to make sure I’m happy in the future. They have been opened for about a month and half and they’re doing such a fabulous job! I will be coming back before I leave.

Fresh, authentic food. Came with a group unfamiliar with Ethiopian cuisine, and the server gave us excellent recommendations based on our food preferences. Will definitely be returning!

Amen Restaurant is one of the newest gems in San Antonio. It’s located where Sangria on the Berg used to be, and it couldn’t be a better replacement. The experience of eating in this way is a blast, completely unique to our city. Everyone shares an assortment of spicy and savory dishes. Meat eaters, vegetarians and especially vegans will have an unforgettable meal. Just walk inside the restaurant and the smell alone will convince you to stay. Plus, it’s family run and you’ll meet the family while you’re there. Please try Amen Eritrean and Ethiopian Restaurant. This place needs to become an essential part of our city’s restaurant scene.
