I don't know what beats what. Food or service. Both seem to either outdo each other or complement each other in the best way possible. It wouldn't matter if you're starved or stuffed to the gills. May the intoxicating scent of freshly made pizza lure you in. You're immediately greeted by the hostess staff, as if you're entering a warm and cozy home. My family and I had just spent the better part of the morning and afternoon at the ECHO Museum. As I always say, there's no wrong choice for food in Burlington, but American Flatbread was definitely a divine choice. Our waitress promptly took our boys' order and within a blink, here came this round thing of beauty. My almost 4-year-old is a picky eater and this was something he was unable to refuse.
My husband and I ordered a large cheese and the Evolution salad. Unfortunately, our pizza was taken to the wrong table by the runner. We still had our salad to indulge. I was in love. Vinaigrette was tangy and light. The lettuce, fresh, light and crisp. I had to ask if anyone has ever just ordered the family size just to finish on their own, because I felt like I could.
(FYI: f you are planning to eat a full family size, the salad bowl is as big as the table for 4.)
Shortly after, our pizza arrived. Shortly after that, the pizza disappeared without a trace.
I enjoyed everything from the very first second to the bittersweet last. This whole restaurant represents everything about this fine city, from the people to the craft they create and I can't wait to come back.
