"Why is the staff at American Fresh Brewhouse dressed in vests like it’s a Chotchkies? We don’t know, but it kind of sets the whole tone for this place, which is Slumbrew’s more dressed-up, corporate-feeling location in the Truman Show-esque development that is Assembly Row in Somerville. The beer is still good here, but the food is mediocre, and it’s hard to really enjoy hanging out in what is essentially an outdoor mall." - Dan Secatore

"This is the gastropub arm of Somerville Brewing Company, which is perhaps best known for its Slumbrew line of beers. Order a pint of the Porter Square Porter, which is one of the best beers brewed in Greater Boston. Once that’s been thusly slurped, order another." - Terrence Doyle

I stopped here on a Thursday afternoon for lunch on the spur of the moment. I sat at the bar since it was not crowded at that time. The bartender was friendly and brought me a menu right away. I had the marinated steak tips asparagus and potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly and it had just the right amount of marinade to add flavor but not over-power the steak. The asparagus was seasoned amazingly. It was also a decent sized portion. I don't drink alcohol so I didn't try any beers but I did notice they had over 20 different kinds of beer on tap.

Great brewery for any occasion. I am a returning customer. There beer selection is pretty big for how cozy this location is. Their porters are something to remember. There is a great variety of food in this location, and even better is that they have a pretty good handful of vegetarian and gluten free options. Both the interior and the exterior design and cleanliness of this location is well maintained and looks good! This is a great spot to try new beers, and catch up with friends and family. A well known spot in the assembly row area. As a matter of fact, it is on the first location one can see as soon as they exit the assembly row orange line station. If however one feels the need to drive to this location, there is an abundance of parking within the parking garage, or the commercialized shops across the street.

Nice environment, free parking in the garage around the corner for less than 3 hours. Small food menu with a some nice choices including burgers, appetizers and more. We had the queso dip which was nice and tasty. We got 2 flights and the beers were good, nice selection, some better than others.

Went with several friends on Saturday night. Greeted by friendly staff, seated much faster than I expected. Good selection of different types of beer, everyone in our party found something they enjoyed and staff were happy to pour samples to help us decide. Food was great with lots of interesting choices for a variety of palates. The fish sandwich I got with onion rings was fantastic! And the porter flavored ice cream was a hit. Our server was friendly and out service was well paced. The space is comfortable and we saw lots of groups enjoying their evenings. This is always at the top of my list of places to recommend in town

Had the tri tip, mac and cheese with asparagus. The tri tip was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender with plenty of flavor. The mac and cheese was also just as good. As you can see, the beer selection is daunting. I ordered the brew masters flights not realizing it's quite a selection for one person but, I did enjoyed them all after a whole 90 minutes of tasting :P

Beers were really good, but the parking situation and pricing were terrible. Most places are $2-3.50 on 6os flight pours, but this place was $4-6, so our 2 flights came to $40. There was no pricing on the big menu board over the bar, and there were no paper menus where we were seated. I hate to think what the pricing on full pours would be.

Meh, this place was too rich for my taste. It's on the pricy side and the food was insanely small portions for the price. We grabbed a shared flight and left. In response to the question about what we ordered: I told the server I wanted the taco starter, which is a $6 item, and she asked if I only wanted one. Thinking that was odd I asked why and she explained that it only comes with one taco that's 'this big' holding her hands in a 4 inch circle. Based on that and the appearance of the food ordered at tables around us we opted to get food elsewhere. I don't wish to offend with my opinion. I'm just offering the perspective that I am accustomed to. Which is cheap.

Great selection of beers. Delicious grilled cheese and tomato soup (soup was not watery at all). Diverse menu. Really nice bartender and folks! We’ll be back!
