We stopped in on a Friday for dinner and drinks with our dog. Luckily we came early because the patio filled up fast! The drinks were great, service was friendly. Food was good (nothing spectacular), but overall we loved the atmosphere and that they're dog friendly!

I highly recommend this place!!Came with my family to celebrate a birthday and everything was so delicious. We enjoyed our time there and everyone was so nice and welcoming. We will definitely be coming back!!

Love this authentic Mexican spot with an awesome patio option. Service is always great- quick and friendly! Their margs are SO good and they always have a seasonal special (peek watermelon marg pictured). We also got the queso with chorizo which was so tasty and a massive portion severed with flour tortillas and some very fresh chips and salsa. Then for mains we split the asada tacos and rice and beans which were delicious!

I was visiting Chicago for a weekend, and if you're doing the same, I'd definitely recommend Amor y Tequila. The food was exquisite, just like the atmosphere dining on the outdoor patio. Drinks, apps, entrees and dessert were all excellent. Especially dessert. They have perfect flan and churros. I know because I ordered both to confirm, who knows when I'll be back!

This place was disappointing. We went last night and the staff were very nice and the service was okay. They were a little slow. The restaurant was cute, very trendy. And they had a nice outdoor space. But the food was bad. We got their chips and salsa, and that was fine. The salsa was good. But the burritos were really bad. They were bland and boring. I had the shrimp burritos, and my friend had the stake burrito. And neither of us liked it. I would just come here for chips and drinks. Go somewhere else to eat.

Amor Y Tequila was on my bucket list of restaurants for a long time. The ambiance was great on the patio and dog-friendly which is a plus! The food and drinks were fresh, delicious, and flavorful. I have a suggestion though-can you provide a mild salsa option for patrons please? The mild salsa is crazy spicy and green, which is usually the strongest on the menu! We had a 7:30 pm reservation on Friday, August 23rd. When we arrived until 7:50 pm, there was no staff available to check us in. I asked the bartender at 7:30 and 7:45 and it was way too loud inside to hear him. We got seated on the patio once we finally got seated. Why is there not a check in process here? I love that they are using commercial sanitizer chemicals to clean tables, but throughout our dinner while we actively ate, cleaner was being sprayed as wind blew on the patio slightly. The chemical spray while people are eating is very heavy, especially with commercial grade chemicals. I recommend washcloths from a sanitizer bucket for used and not spray chemicals, which happened throughout our dinner for 1.5 hours!

First time here, and the best part about this dining experience was the wait staff! They are super friendly and very attentive. Also really liked the outdoor seating. It was quiet and comfortable. I ordered a steak taco and a salmon taco. Honestly, not the best I've had as there was not a lot of flavor going on with either of them. The steak didn't seem to be seasoned at all. The salmon was okay and much better than the steak. I did love the taco shells and also the refried beans were very good! We also had the guacamole before our main entrees and it was phenomenal! All of our drinks that we had from the menu were amazing and I would definitely give this place a try again, I would just try some different dishes before I come back and review again.

The outdoor space is very nice and the cocktails were excellent and reasonably priced. Whilst it was well cooked we found the food to be quite bland and didn't order mains after having appetizers. The service was friendly but a little slow. Would definitely comeback, but just for drinks.

Wonderful service, nice atmosphere and my dish was great. A win. Though the tequila selection was limited, they had quality like Don Fulano. Also, the Belmont was perfect - not too sweet, not too tart. Bravo.

Amor y Tequila has become our go to neighborhood Mexican place as we live right down the block. The menu is fairly standard with the usual tacos, burritos, etc. but what we keep coming back for is the tres carnes molcajetes: a steaming stone bowl full of fajita-style peppers and beans in a sort of stew, perfectly cooked skirt steak, chicken, shrimp, and a huge hunk of cheese, served with tortillas, more beans, and rice. It's massive and delicious and can easily feed four with a couple appetizers or two people alone with leftovers for lunch the next day. Yum. The patio is delightful in the summer. Service can be slow as they always seem slightly understaffed but worth it.

Can't believe I haven't written a review for this yet and I have been here twice already. My first time here I was able to sit in their outdoor patio which was a perfect setting. It was spacious and perfect for groups. Service was a little slow at that time and we didn't get our food for a long time. Turns out we were forgotten. However, our server did get us a couple of free drinks due to the inconvenience so we were ok. Plus, I was with 2 of my besties so we were just chatting away anyway and the drinks were good. 2nd time around I came in the fall and it was too cold to be outside but we did have reservations for 2. We came on time but from the looks of it, all the inside tables were still taken, so we just opted to sit at the bar as we didn't feel like waiting. The bartender was pretty nice and attentive so we didn't mind it. During both times my group ordered and shared the molcajetes. It says it's good for 2, but there is so much food in there that it can be good for 4 people actually! Molcajete is a fajita like dish, it comes with steak, cheese, veggies, and warm tortillas. You will run out of tortillas as there is so much meat but you can always request more. I highly recommend this dish as its tasty, filling, and a great price for all that food. Overall, a nice little local gem with good food and good drinks. Great spot if you are craving some good Mexican food and tasty drinks! I will have to try other food items on their menu next time I am here.

Second time here, first time eating in. We sat outside on the patio at for a late lunch. It's very cute, fenced in and private but not claustrophobic. We started with chips and guac. They also brought some pico and, upon request, a couple salsas. We liked the spicy green. We barely made a dent in those, they provided a lot, enough for 4-6 people. We each had a drink. I had the LEAVITT (Tequila, Mezcal, Fresh Lime and Agave Syrup). Very nice, smooth. My daughter had the ROSCORITA (Tequila, Fresh Lime and Agave Syrup). Both with a little Tajin on the rim, and both delicious. For the entree, I had a two tacos, shrimp and pastor. Loved them both and they were larger than I expected. Two was plenty. My daughter had two steak tacos and she said they were good, as well. I would loved to have tried more, but we had too much food as it was. Next time!

This has to be the most mismanaged joint in Chicago. They have good food but totally understaffed.. think one bartender & one waitress to handle a busy place?? Every friggin time I go it's the same story.... Waiting forever for service! Owner.. GET A CLUE!! I won't come back, it's happened many times and I'm tired of it. Talk later

The restaurant is clean and attractive. We ate outside in spacious area. The drinks were very good. Flautas were fresh. The mushroom taco had a nice sauce but the steak taco was dry. The food could have been a bit better. The waiter was very friendly and prompt.

Thanks to Amor y Tequila I was able to plan the perfect wedding anniversary date for us and our toddler. Them and it being the Retro on Roscoe street fest that day. Their patio is first come first serve, so as soon as we got into the fest I beelined it here and put our name in. They said it was moving surprisingly fast so we only waited 20 minutes or so to get texted to come back. As we were getting seated, "The Boy Band Night" cover band was setting up at a stage just across the street from the patio. We ordered some drinks, and thus were set up for a night of singing, laughing, and good eats. I will say it took a long while for food to come out, but I'll chalk that up to the festival bringing more people than normal to the area, and the drinks and guac helped tide us over. For our little guy we got him the kids quesadilla, and we ordered the tres carnes molcajete to share. It's a bit pricy, but it's meant for 2-3 people and we had enough for dinner the next night. And hey, it's our anniversary! Eventually we got our molcajete - a giant bowl filled with beans, steak, chicken, shrimp and cheese. We also got four tortillas with it, which is kind of a small amount for us two. It was very generous with the shrimp, and the steak was cooked perfectly (wish we had some more of that in there). Still, overall it made for a perfect night, along with me drunkenly singing along to BSB and *NSYNC songs. I see why the patio is a hot spot for the neighborhood, even when there isn't old school music blasting in the background. Will come back in the future and try some more of their menu.

Nice small dimly lit. Love the environment. The food was very good. Nicely portioned. Drinks were excellent. The staff was great. Service was good. My only suggestion to them is to get an additional bartender. Or maybe a faster one. The drinks took noticeably too long to get once they were ordered. I highly recommend this place.

Great patio space in the summertime. Tequila cocktails are fun and tacos are tasty. We did feel a bit rushed though as they strongly impose a 90min max dining time on tables - we felt like we were being rushed which was off putting.

We were looking for a new place to try in Roscoe Village and thought this would be a good option. Great outdoor patio, but we decided to sit inside. Atmosphere is great!! Service is very attentive and friendly!! Most importantly they had Modelo Negra on Tap (love that beer!!). Great selection of margaritas. Food was very good. The ceviche and street corn were great way to start the evening. The street corn can be served on or off the Cobb. I had the Al pastor burrito and just for S&G's had an order of fries with it. We definitely plan on going back and try the brunch menu sometime soon!! Great food, great atmosphere, and Modelo Negra on tap!!!

I cannot speak about the food as I didn't order any food here, - just got drinks, but the ambiance is amazing here! The patio is a MUST if you can actually find a table! I came here just before 6pm on a Thursday and the place was PACKED. No seating available outside, and the indoor seating quickly filled up by 6:30. I sat at the bar since I was meeting a friend for a few drinks, and we had great and friendly service from our bartender. The food smelled really good, and I'm 100% down to come back to this place in the near future! You really can't go wrong with this place given it's awesome location in cute Roscoe Village!

The food here was fine. I can't put my finger in exactly what was missing, but everything was just fine. Don't avoid it, but don't go out of your way. We tried 3 tacos: Pastor taco had large chunks of well seasoned meat. I think the shrimp had the potential to be the best because the flavors on that were nice, but it was cold and a bit soggy. The steak taco had good quality meat but needed the addition of salt or the pico. The rice was essentially mush, the refried beans had an unbalanced flavor (lots of salt and cumin I think). The chorizo queso was bland. Chips were warm and the pico perfectly spicy. Margaritas started very strong, and got better as the ice melted. The staff really hustled and were great, but they simply were understaffed (Tuesday night with a 2 hour wait at 7pm!). As a result everything was slow and that would have been no problem if the food had been better.

Stopped by and had a drink at the bar and grabbed some food to-go. Drink menu was excellent and the friendly knowledgeable bartender made a great drink. I had shrimp tacos and Queso Chorizo dip and everything was well prepared and tasty. Nice atmosphere and the place was busy.

This cute little spot in roscoe village was a great pop-in place for a quick dinner. They were booked for reservations but it's first come first serve at the bar. The bar staff was friendly and helpful. I will say the chicken burrito was a bit boring as the chicken tasted like plain grilled chicken, could have used some heat. The salsa could also have some more flavor, maybe add some more onions and garlic?

I enjoyed my time at Amor y Tequila recently. My fiancé and I live in the neighborhood and decided to check this place out on a Saturday night. We didn't have a reservation, so we grabbed a seat at the bar. This place is small inside, so I recommend making a reservation or being OK with sitting at the bar as they were fully booked for the night. It is decorated really well and is an inviting space. To start, they offered us a free cup of chicken noodle soup. It was delicious and we appreciated the gesture. All of their cocktails are named after streets in Roscoe Village- how cute is that?! I tried the Claremont (tequila, lime juice, and fresh strawberries) while my fiancée ordered the Hamilton (mezcal, lime juice, basil). Their drinks come with a spicy rim, which I'm not a fan of so I'm glad the bartender asked for my preference that way I could go with salt instead. The Claremont was delicious; but the Hamilton was really really bad. It was so sour and just tasted like lime juice. Definitely not proper proportions. For food, we ordered the chips and salsa - the pico was good - but I wish it came with homemade chips especially since there was a charge for chips and salsa as most Mexican restaurants typically give for free while dining in. We then ordered the Tres Carnes molcajetes which included shrimp; steak; and chicken as well as beans, veggies, and tortilla. The proportions were a bit off on this too- only 4 tortillas (there was a lot of food); plentiful in the meats and beans, but definitely not enough veggies. Service was a bit slow too, there was only one bartender and one server in the whole place. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. They have a few kinks to work on, but I think that's common for a new place, especially operating during Covid. I also can't wait until spring so I can enjoy their patio. It's beautiful.

Dog friendly alert! We came early as everyone in our neighborhood of Roscoe Village has been raving about this awesome place. They did not disappoint. There is live mariachi music every Thursday for 2 hours! So fun! The food and my margarita was great too! The only thing was our waiter got a little mixed up and charged us for a few items at a different table. We straightened it out though!

Went out for a girls night and had a great time! Drinks were delicious and our waiter Jose was attentive to make sure we didn't have an empty glass. We ordered various appetizers and tacos. Everything was delicious, hot and nice size servings. We ate on the patio as it was nice out and enjoyed it. It was pretty full out there and the noise carried to where it wasn't too loud. We really enjoyed it and will for sure be back!

We've been wanting to try this neighborhood spot for awhile. The server was very polite. However, our food was served lukewarm, at best and was just okay. Perhaps it was forgotten? Appearing to be understaffed, it was difficult to let the server know about the issue. We were so hungry, we ate it anyway. With so many other great (Mexican) restaurant choices around, I'm afraid we won't be returning.

Cute spot with yummy margaritas! The food was overall good and fresh. Some tacos felt like they were missing something but my favorite was the Mexican squash- so flavorful! I was a little surprised by how much we ended up spending here (shots alone were $16+ each) when all was said and done, but I would come back.

Love to come here and meet friends for a margarita and some tacos especially in the summertime on their patio but it's good all year round!

Come here for the vibes, the lights, the patio. Amor y Tequila probably has one of the cutest neighborhood patios. String lights, an outside bar (though didn't seem in use), the greenery. It's got a cozy, intimate vibe that makes Chicago Summers seems so magical. Located in Roscoe Village, there's a special hidden gem feel. Good selection of margaritas, the usual food menu for tacos and a couple of entrees. Mostly you're here for the atmosphere.

Obsessed. The vibe here is amazing. Great patio with comfortable seating (couch section for those just coming in to have drinks!). Let's start with their drinks... tequila lovers paradise. The names are great- it really makes it feel like a "neighborhood spot". I am a huge fan of the Clybourn and we also enjoyed the Hamilton if you're into Mezcal. I love spice and the Clybourn delivers heat. The food that we've tried has been great (guacamole, ceviche, and tacos). I like that you can mix taco options. Overall I've come in a handful of times this summer and have loved it every time. If you're in RV check them out!

This restaurant has the most picture worthy and intimate environment. It's beautiful and inviting. Once you walk in you are greeted and surrounded by a comfortable, warm and good vibe. Amor y Tequila probably has the most authentic Mexican cuisine in the Northside. I would definitely come here every week if I can. I highly recommend it and will continue to recommend this place to everyone seeking authentic and delicious Mexican cuisine that has great customer service and a beautiful atmosphere. Everything is in the details and this restaurant has exactly that. Don't hesitate and come visit this place!

I really enjoy Amor y Tequila. I have been here a few times and have never had a bad experience. The cocktails are solid and definitely worth the price. I've enjoyed all the different flavored margaritas and like the fun touch of naming them after the local neighborhood streets. The food is also great. I would consider it upscale authentic Mexican. My only complaint is that the inside seating area is very small. If the weather isn't nice enough for the patio to be open, seating is limited. Overall solid choice to treat myself to good Mexican food and cocktails.

This place is delicious! Came with a couple of friends for a girls night out and we ordered the 3 meat molcajete to share. The meats and shrimp were amazing and really came piled up high...i ended up taking the leftovers home because it was a lot of food! We ordered the shrimp ceviche and the guacamole as appetizers... both delicious but I'm definitely going back for that ceviche again. Get that, you won't regret it. We ordered a few drinks and we were glad to see that they are very generous with their pours. They don't fill your glass with ice to cheat you out of your drink... and we appreciated that... and the glasses were a good size so you're getting your money's worth. I had a mezcal drink and it was so good! The service was great. Our server gave us suggestions and was very attentive to us. This place is a bit of a drive for me but I will definitely be back here soon. Loved it here!

This is the third visit and it is always the same story. The food and drinks are great but the service is so slow. Overall, nice restaurant with spacious outdoor if you are lucky to snag a table. The drinks were excellent albeit it takes so long to receive since they only have one bartender and no bar back. There is one waitress for the entire inside of the restaurant and one for outside and service is just so slow. They are just overall understaffed and it is always busy. Expect they will serve you an appetizer and then forget for a while to bring plates, napkins and silverware so you can actually eat it. They may ask if you would like a glass with that beer and again forget to ever bring it out to you. Just expect that you will like the food and basically have to constantly flag down the one server to get through your meal.

go for the drinks stay for the food... not being a marg' drinker, this place converted me! the hamilton (mezcal) is my go to. the food is the best mexican in the area IMO - the sopes (made vegetarian style) are my fave as is the jardin salad. unfortunately in the 4 times i've visited, the service has seemed to flounder a bit more each time. still worth going and i'll chalk it up as just having a bad day as we're all allowed!

The most auténtico for Mexican food, the drinks were great and the service amazing! I will be coming often.

We recently went here with another couple hoping for a nice dinner with friends. Sadly, we found that the food and drinks were mediocre, and over-priced, the service was careless - then to add insult to injury, after our order was late, one of our drinks was carelessly spilled all over one of our party, they asked us vacate the table because we "hit the 90 minute time limit". Even though the table right next to us (also a party of 4) was there when we arrived and still there when we left. There are much better Mexican restaurants in Chicago.

First off, this place is pretty hard to get into! We sat at the bar, but in retrospect that was the place to sit! The bar tender took great care of us and made excellent recommendations! We started out with the Hoyne, and 2 Hamilton cocktails with guacamole. For our main, we had 2 Al Pastor tacos, the Carne Asada, pollo El Carbon, with a side of Street Elote- everything we had was delicious! Can't wait to come back and try more off the menu!

I've been with my wife previously and she's been maybe 1-2 times with friends, each time the service was completely lacking but we gave them some grace because they were still under the 18-month mark. But, they're past the point of "figuring it out" and have earned some public scorn. I tried calling twice to get an estimated patio wait-time but got the machine both times, and it's worth noting that they haven't even set up their voicemail properly, ya know, like a business. So, we left the dog at home because we also didn't get a chance to ask about dogs on the patio (nothing online) and headed their way. Shocker, the patio had a decent crowd but there were a few tables that just needed to get bussed, could've been room for all, but...no such luck. We popped into the inside area where another couple was waiting, maybe for a pickup but also maybe to try and, I dunno, spend their money? Didn't bother asking but a few glances were exchanged that led me to believe it was the latter of those two scenarios. In any case, they were understaffed (per usual, but not for the reasons conservatives would like you to believe), but the bartender still saw us, as did the runner/busser/bar-back (?), yet neither of them took the 5 seconds to say "hey folks, welcome in, we'll be with you in a sec!" So, it was with deep resignation that I met eyes with the dude running expo/the pass and let him know that, sadly, we were leaving (and taking our money with us). What a bummer, get a better GM or FOH manager, or just somebody who can finally make this place work. Until they do, however, they'll just be "that" place that my wife and I laugh about with Roscoe neighbors who've also been let down more than a couple of times. Fool me twice, I guess!

Ambiance is 5 star but the food and prices are 2 star. $14 for a small serving of guacamole that was oxidized and didn't taste fresh. My Al pastor burrito was extremely salty. If you want authentic tasting Mexican, look elsewhere. Great patio though and it's dog friendly which is a plus. If they improve their food quality, I'd go back.

I have been 5 times to this place. The first two times was really good, last three not so much Owner/waiter not very friendly, food was less than average at best

Service and drinks were great here! My friend and I were offered a free sample of a new soup that was about to hit the menu and it was delish! Sadly I took no photos of the actual food and drink because I was too busy enjoying the vibes and company took 1 however of a mural inside that I thought was beautiful. Definitely will be coming back!

Amor y tequila more like Amor y Pablo. The bartender Pablo fed us drinks like we were dying of dehydration. The nicest people you will ever come across. The vegetable chicken soup was delightful. Tequila, top notch. Elote, beautiful. Toilet paper, plush. And the owner will go out of her way to speak to you. Great environment, definitely will be back. PS: Pablo

Terrible service, overpriced food the definition of of mediocre. I was really hoping to find a hidden gem but this restaurant was full of disappointment.

Oh wow. Some of the best Mexican food that I've had. Creative, fresh, modern. Salads were plentiful/filling and loaded with color and textures, burritos were not gummy (as they sometimes can be elsewhere) with freshly assembled ingredients, entrees were also colorful and with fresh (i.e. not pre/overcooked) sides. The drinks...so many margarita options! Well-portioned and quality ingredients. Nice atmosphere. Good service.

Finally was able to get a reservation and I see why this place gets booked fast, great food and drinks. I'm familiar with the family of the business from Garcias Restaurant and I'm glad this place worked out. The place is super cute and cozy. I order the mini sopes as my main course, filling for sure don't the size fool you. The Addison margarita was fire, nice and strong. Definitely coming back and hoping to get a patio seat next time. Highly recommend

Great neighobrhood spot that is an awesome value. Cocktails are great and so is the food. Al pastor tacos are a must order. Shrimp entrée was basically shrimp fajitas. I'll be back.

The food is okay. It's nothing to brag about. The service was horrible. The server said he would be with us in a couple of minutes. Fifteen minutes later he came and took our order. My wife ordered a steak sopes but got the chicken instead. She informed the server that she order steak and he had the nerve to tell her she didn't. He also said, the cook are to busy to change the order. We can take our hard earned money and spend it to where the service and food is much better that this rude. If you like that kind of service then you are more than welcome to go there. If anyone wants a recommendation for a good place to go. I would recommend them to a better place.

Great food and really great margaritas. The corn tortillas are fabulous and the portions are good. Very accommodating staff to any special needs.
