If you're in the mood for a timeless Detroit dining experience that balances charm, flavor, and hospitality, Amore de Roma delivers. Nestled in the historic Eastern Market district, this restaurant is a throwback in all the right ways. From the vintage décor and cozy ambiance to the welcoming staff who treat you like family, the vibe is old-school, warm, and full of character.
We started with the calamari, which was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It came with a side of marinara that had a fresh, herby kick—definitely made in-house. For the main course, we chose the seafood pasta, a generous plate loaded with mussels, shrimp, and scallops, all soaked in a rich tomato garlic sauce that tasted like it came straight out of Nonna’s kitchen. The pasta was cooked just right, and the seafood was fresh and flavorful.
Service was impressive—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable without being overbearing. The staff moved efficiently and made sure water glasses stayed full and needs were met without needing to be asked twice.
The restaurant is quaint, and while the atmosphere is charming, the restrooms are comically tiny—worth a chuckle, but definitely a tight squeeze. That said, it’s a small price to pay for the overall experience.
Portions are satisfying, prices are fair, and there’s plenty of parking, which is a rarity in the area and a huge plus. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner or a comforting Italian meal with friends, Amore de Roma is a solid bet.
Final verdict: Great food, great service, classic atmosphere. Just don’t expect a spacious bathroom. Highly recommend.
