"A station lounge inside Moynihan Train Hall that offers a modern, comfortable waiting area with large glass windows, contemporary flooring, Wi‑Fi and complimentary snacks; it is available to first-class passengers as part of the premium experience." - Michael Cappetta Michael Cappetta Michael Cappetta is a travel writer with over 10 years of experience in journalism and television news. "This flagship Amtrak lounge recently overhauled its food service to offer a more personalized, freshly prepared experience while dramatically reducing waste. Instead of prepackaged items, guests can build yogurt parfaits and choose from made‑to‑order breakfast items such as a pepper jack cheese muffin, avocado toast, overnight oats, and pastries from a local bakery; lunch and dinner offerings include street corn hummus, a grilled chicken ciabatta baguette, a Santa Fe chicken flatbread, and salads. Menus will rotate monthly and much of the preparation is done in the lounge’s kitchen, eliminating roughly 95% of plastic packaging and individually packaged products and replacing disposable service ware with china, glassware, and cutlery to reduce environmental impact." - Stacey Leasca
"Inside the rail hub, I found the Metropolitan Lounge on the upper level now offers full bar service from Amtrak, with the bar stocked with wine, cocktails, and beers from local breweries including Five Boroughs Brewing and Brooklyn Brewery; La Colombe coffee, salads, sandwiches, and “complimentary snacks” are available throughout the day, but the lounge is open seven days a week only to higher-tier Amtrak customers, including first-class ticket holders and customers who buy day passes." - Erika Adams
"Amtrak Guest Rewards members, first-class Acela and sleeper passengers will have access to the new Metropolitan lounge housed inside the building, too. The lounge is outfitted with a balcony with tables and chairs overlooking the train hall, quiet space, a room for families with small children, a nursing mothers' room, and gender neutral restrooms."
"Inside the new Metropolitan Lounge, located in the new Moynihan Train Hall across from Penn Station, there will be updated seating with USB ports and plenty of outlets, a business center for those looking to sneak in a last- minute call, and dedicated customer service agents so you don't have to join the plebes if something goes wrong. Even better? Passengers will also get priority boarding, and escorted to the train early. While we don't have specifics about what will be served, food and drink-wise, there will be a 'rotating selection of hot and cold food items' (an improvement on the current chips and pastries) and booze in the new lounge, Amtrak says. Set 20 feet above the central hall, the premium lounge also gives you a prime people-watching spot."
