"Beloved Austin-based frozen sweets spot Amy’s Ice Creams is expanding with a new store in Cherrywood. It’ll be found on 2002 Manor Road sometime in the fall, according to a release by real estate firm CBRE. The ice cream menu will be the same as the others: seven steady flavors (including the signature Mexican vanilla), along with rotating ones that range from fruits to boozy. This new Amy’s will be found in the same shopping plaza as comfort food restaurant Hoover’s Cooking. This is the first new location of Amy’s Ice creams in five years. Amy’s shuttered its further south Austin location on South Congress (not to be confused with the one on South Congress and The Circle) in October 2015 because of rising rents. The original Amy’s opened on Guadalupe in 1984, and it quickly grew with locations throughout Austin, as well as Houston, San Antonio, and Smithville. This is its 13th Austin location and 15th overall one." - Nadia Chaudhury

Google
Great service, talented employee, but mixed feelings on the ice cream. It's hard to do mix in toppings without affecting the presentation and making the ice cream gooey. The milk ice cream themselves are extremely creamy, which is yummy the first few bites but then it becomes too much and it's too sweet to finish. I would recommend only getting one scoop for yourself / your child or sharing a small two scoop between two people. My favorite flavors are the sorbet ones, because they're fruity, more refreshing, and easier to finish. It varies from location to location, but this place had a nice strawberry flavor in the tiger's blood. It's interesting to see the different flavor rotations. The music at this place was cute too, they were playing Fairy Tail music, like from the anime openings.

Amy's is an Austin staple! Check out the brownie sundae with mexican vanilla to blow your mind. Can't wait to come back soon!

Google
Awesome ice cream- but whoever was managing schedules needs to apologize to the poor lady who was manning the place by herself while her co workers goof off outside. Why when there’s a full place would you stand (where customers can see you) outside? If that chick doesn’t quit tonight she should. She was busting her behind. I’ve never been to an Amy’s before because I’m traveling through, but I won’t go again.

Google
The Amy's location on Manor Rd left me with no taste in my mouth. There were two clerks, one young male one female. The young male was assisting with in person orders while the female made something that she simply set aside. Instead of helping next customer in line, myself and my partner, she proceeds to assist the young clerks with making one of his three total orders. The young male noticed that she wasn't attempting to assist us she he let her take over his order then he proceeded to greet and assist, only for us to find out that Amy's has general menus for all locations even if the menu item in question is not sold at that location. I left without purchasing. Having a menus with items you cannot actually purchase coupled with the females attitude made for a very poor experience, that I will not be repeating.

Google
Tasty! And I love the mix ins First time at any Amy’s, the employee was very helpful in walking me through the menu and sampling flavors. Ended up getting the tan cow with almonds mixed in. Really nice flavor and texture

Google
The Mexican vanilla is so creamy and delicious!! This is priced the way that it is because Amy’s isn’t anything like finishing a pint at home or taking a trip to Baskin Robbins. It’s a true treat that I believe is well worth trying. The parking situation here was a bit hectic and they were doing some renos when I originally went but it is still a nice environment with unique, delicious ice cream flavors that you can’t get anywhere else.

I had a smoothie, 8 ounces. Basic strawberry and banana. Ended up paying $10 (including tip) for a drink that was not even fresh tasting. I guess the ice-cream is good because it’s a popular place.

Yelp
I've been enjoying Amy's Ice Cream ever since I got to Austin a couple years ago. Considering the volume of product they must put out, the quality is quite good and the butterfat content gives it a wonderful creamy consistency. We stopped in at this location for after-dinner treats one night including a shake and a cone. Both were awesome and the service was super friendly and fast. Recommended.

Morgann G.

Yelp
The ice cream was good. I like that you get to have samples. I was very disappointed that they don't update their outside sign. We had picked from it before entering, only to find out the flavors weren't available. That's the reason for the 4 stars. The staff were friendly and the counters were clean. Again it was good just not a wow experience.

Tina L.

Yelp
It was my first time visiting Amy's. I would say it's similar to a cold stones. This is a mom and pop Austin vibe. You get to choose from three sizes. Tiny, Small, and Large. As far as the Tiny goes , your add ins will be on top. They can't mix it into your ice cream. The girl was patient and informed us they couldn't mix it in. It's a nice place to try for the first time.

Yelp
Hey to the guy working today (aug 17) when my son and I came in after a rough time learning to skateboarding - thank you so much. You MADE our day. We were hot, sweaty, and still in a sucky mood when we walked in, but my boy immediately brightened when he saw you bouncing a bouncy ball. You were so kind and engaging, giving great selection advice and even letting my son bounce your bouncy ball lol. The ice cream was delish as always and we had fun playing a game of sorry in the back. I feel bad bc I think my tip didn't go through after a mixup of mine with my cards so I wanted make sure I shared with you my appreciation, guy with with cool striped beanie this afternoon at Amy's. May only great things come your way and thank you again.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Austin's OG for scoops with style, keeping it orthodox or with extra goodies mixed in. I love their classic vanilla with strawberries (a summer fave) or current flavor of the moment - Mocha Heath: silky smooth milk chocolate with crunchy toffee yums. Also greatly appreciative of their support of local non-profits, especially Integral Care this month - scoops for mental health, get you some goodness!

Sakenah E.

Yelp
The ice cream was rich and good portion size. I got a small size and struggled to finish it. Definitely worth the price and dog friendly.

Lili S.

Yelp
This is another Amy's location that has impressed me! I ordered a small cup of Walter's Bay Chai and my mom ordered a kiddie cup of Belgian Chocolate. We enjoyed our ice cream. Next time, I will mix both flavors by getting a scoop of each in one cup. The server working behind the counter was alone and doing an excellent job of taking care of all the customers. The bathroom had time sensitive finger pedals that you press down on to dispense hot or cold water. There was soft pop music playing and lots of families dining inside. I noticed a photo booth in the back that looked like fun. They even have a walk-up window outside to order for your convenience. It is a popular location and I plan to return soon.

Asia R.

Yelp
The ice cream is good but I found hair in the middle of my ice cream from which they scooped up. I didn't have any toppings or anything so there was no maneuvering of the ice cream, I won't be eating there again!

Stella Y.

Yelp
I love the fun and colorful interior that definitely screams ice cream shop! Got two flavors to share - Mexican vanilla that uses a Mexican vanilla bean and taste more fragrant than regular vanilla bean. The flavor is more amped up. The other one I think was a seasonal flavored called Texas something... it was a chocolate ice cream with chocolate cookies mixed into it. Very sinful and pretty sweet but good thing they do offer water at the shop. I like that they do have new flavors every so often to keep it interesting.

Linh B.

Yelp
Khi and Max's ability to innovate and inspire in the frozen creamery industry is above and beyond. I was introduced to the idea to be "surprised" by one of Khi's brews by Max's poetic and eloquent words describing his creation. Khi's perfect concoction of his own volition transported me to a realm of pure joy and wonder, that I began to weep uncontrollably. If any of these two employees run for the HIGHEST seat in the executive branch, they have my vote. My vote, and my heart. P.S. My first born will be named after both of these employees, regardless of gender.

Munsa M.

Yelp
Met up with a friend to get some ice cream here! I got coffee with a sugar cone and she got the Oreo and Mexican vanilla on a cake come. The coffee flavor was so creamy and just the right amount of sweetness. All the servers are really nice and let you try whichever flavors you want. We sat inside and chatted for hours!

Lydia L.

Yelp
This is my partner's all-time favorite ice cream shop. I finally understood why! We tried his usual - Surprise Me, which is letting the staff come up with whatever combo they can. According to my partner, Surprise Me never disappointed. That's surely true! The staff made us a sundae with Mexican Vanilla scoop & Pumpkin scoop, with crackers and other stuff mixed in, and caramel sauce on top. To my surprise, this combo is heavenly!!! Many of the ingredients he added would've never been picked by me. That's the magic of Surprise Me - you get to try something beyond your own imagination/preference and let it surprise your tastebud! Amy's has become my new favorite! Creativity delivers better treats than simple good old flavors.

Cindy F.

Yelp
Door dashed the Mexican vanilla with pecan praline and whipped topping. Very good and withstood the delivery. The toppings were separate. I heated the caramel topping a little and it was over the top!

Kelly O.

Yelp
Pricey but tasty! They still have super strict covid orders. No dine in, no sampling, no standing close to the counter, etc. It felt odd, bc Texas has been open for sooo long! We wanted to dine in, but no big deal. Eating Ice cream in the car is not so bad! They had several fun flavors to choose from. I love the crafty combos they have come up with. I went with s'mores ice cream. It's a marshmallow base with biscoff cookies and chocolate chunks. I added cookie dough (+$1)bc how can you not have ice cream with out it!? Everything was super good! I would totally order that again, however they have so many other options I would prob be tempted to try something else! I would recommend the original location bc I Believe it has the most flavor options! This place was clean, tidy, and the service was great! I would come back!

Yelp
omg!!!!!!!!!!! this place is amazing!!!!!! shift lead carly is so awesome she helped me pick my ice cream out for my bday and i bought my grandkids here and she helped them out if you never been give amy's ice creams a try you will love it. amy's ice creams 2002 manor rd austin, tx 78722

Yelp
The ice cream was amazing! Fantastic family atmosphere. We were visiting Austin and the kids were excited to try Amy's Ice Cream.

Pokénom X.

Yelp
An Austin classic, the icecream is still good. This location is right next to a bunch of easily walkable Pokéstops and multiple Gyms, but only the one Gym is actually spin-able from the seating area.

Krista T.

Yelp
Good ice cream, quick service. What else can you want! The young girls scooping were nice and helpful too.

Rotel G.

Yelp
Best ice cream I be ever had!! Amazing chocolate ! Great people and Makayla who served me is the nicest and the best!! Thank you!!!!

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Amy's is a delicious experience! The ice cream and sundaes are awesome, and you can treat you staff or party with catering that can really handle a crowd. If you're lucky, you will see the wonder of juggling ice cream scoops in all their glory! This is a definite must on you're Austin 'must do' list!

Tammy T.

Yelp
3.5/5 Everyone is talking about the Mexican Vanilla and that's the flavor you have to get. It's unique but very approachable. I think Amy's combines the charm of a neighborhood scoop shop and the progressiveness of ice cream flavor combinations. The employees are friendly and if you're lucky they might do a toss and catch! I didn't care for the rest of the flavors unfortunately and the texture is pretty standard. The other selling point here is mix-in toppings like a Cold Stone's but I usually don't prefer that.

Kenya R.

Yelp
My daughter got the coffee ice cream on a waffle cone and loved it. She said that it wasn't strong, and it was very smooth. She said that she got a show and a treat. The girl did some kind of leg truck while scooping the ice cream, but dropped it the first time lol. My husband got the tiny cookies and cream. He also enjoyed his treat.

Kaitlyn H.

Yelp
Honestly the most delicious and unique ice cream I've ever tasted!! Customer service was awesome and they said they're most known for their Mexican vanilla flavor. They said it tastes just like wedding cake, and it was a dang good wedding cake! I got the Oreo, which is just Mexican vanilla with Oreo chunks. My boyfriend got the dark chocolate and it was very rich and almost fudge-like. He also called it "heavenly," haha. 11/10 would recommend!

W C.

Yelp
Not our favorite Amy's location of all the ones we've been to. We figured that we would try it last Friday night since we were already across the street having dinner, but it's kind of lifeless in there. Also: WHY do you have ONE PERSON working on a Friday night??? Absurd. The three of us got pumpkin (OK), mint chocolate chip (toothpaste), and a Mexican vanilla-sweet cream combo kind of thing that was definitely the best one. The space is not configured well and the womp-womp vibe in there must have killed our palates because we did not leave in typical Amy's-elation-mode. Even though this location seems to have been around for a while, we wonder if it will last. No plans to be back.

Christine Y.

Yelp
Awesome new Amy's location on the east side of town next door to Hoover's. The inside is spacious and super clean. The white and pink colors are modern and happy. I'm so glad I stopped by to get a cup of ice cream. + If you're dairy-free, they have vegan options and ices + The small cones (sugar and waffle) are free! + Ready-to-take-home ice cream cakes + Plenty of parking So glad Amy's is here in the neighborhood!

Thisbe R.

Yelp
The servers didn't seem to care and threw toppings on instead of mixing in as asked. Did not give us sizes we asked for. It was crowded for Saturday night but this is a normal thing. For the amount we pay, you should expect a little better service.

Rodolfo M.

Yelp
While in Austin, I decided to make an ice cream stop. I went with the Mexican vanilla, in a waffle cone. I got the small witch was a decent portion of ice cream. The ice cream was delicious, you could really taste hints of Mexican vanilla. Compared to other Mexican vanillas I have had this has been one of the best. The only downfall was my waffle cone was crumbly. Aside from that, the cone had good flavor too.

Rachel S.

Yelp
Obviously Amy's is great! I just wanted to say they also have some good stuff you can order on DoorDash. I just got a brownie sundae delivered while I'm sick, and it really hit the spot. They also have cartons of cookie dough you can buy to eat or bake. I'm so happy and super up on sugar right now! I only took a star away because the delivery flavors are so limited, you can basically only get Mexican vanilla, Belgium chocolate, dark chocolate or strawberry.

Jasmine M.

Yelp
My best friend and I wanted wonderful ice cream with great service , we always choose Amy's Ice cream to get that done ! Super helpful, friendly , fun staff ! Super clean establishment .

Joanna B.

Yelp
Cute ice cream shop with a fun atmosphere! The worker tosses the scoop in the air and catches it in the cup which is always fun to watch. The vegan Mexican vanilla did taste like play dough which was a bit odd though..

Jazel M.

Yelp
I always see a long line at Amy's Ice cream and I have yet to visit! Partially because I'm lactose intolerant haha but this was worth it! My husband had an ice cream craving so we walked here. Friendly service, cute and instagrammable walls inside and YES THE ICE CREAM WAS AMAZING! Def recommend visiting!

Diana X.

Yelp
The most delicious ice cream ever with really cute combos like the little dog design! Though a bit expensive I love how friendly the staff is and the infinite flavor stack will never stop being such a comfort to me.

Ana D.

Yelp
Came here three times in one week! Loooove my sweets. Not a fan of their mint chocolate chip ice cream but I started getting a chocolate milk shake and asked them to add chocolate chips in it annnnnnd it's perfect. This location is new, didn't realize that they were a chain in Austin. Would definitely come back.

Jenny K.

Yelp
*FYI- I cook and bake a lot so I am picky and have no patience for processed food that tastes of preservatives. I don't know where to start. The staff- Paul especially- was helpful, patient with our group of 6 as we asked for samples and tried to decide, and the hot fudge. AND THE ICE CREAM! I tried the mint, dark chocolate, pumpkin, and Mexican vanilla. All were creamy, flavorful, and well-balanced. The dark chocolate was intense and surprisingly good. The hot fudge was the best I've had. They sell it and I bought two! They make everything from scratch - slap yo momma good... go to Home Slice or Hopdoddy and then go to Amy's. Or go to Amy's then get other food. Or order a large and skip regular food. It's well worth the calories!

Bre M.

Yelp
Amy's is my favorite ice cream shop in Austin! I've lived here 11 years and watched this company grow from a couple locations to citywide. I was SO EXCITED when an Amy's finally opened up in my neighborhood. It does not disappoint! There are always new and interesting flavors on the rotating menu; however, the classics are always there (shout out to my fellow Belgium chocolate eaters)! The ice cream is creamy, decadent, and flavorful with a wonderful texture. While there are plenty of ice cream shops around, I'll always come back to Amy's.

William B.

Yelp
Ice cream was lit. Max (Matthew) and Khi (Yippee) were dope. They gave awesome recommendations while helping multiple customers.

Melinda R.

Yelp
Locally owned, the best ice cream, and a fun and friendly environment. The location on Burnet has a great playground and patio seating. Get a crush'n, it will make your day.

Arch T.

Yelp
A brand new Amy's location closer to home! I had to check it out and it did not disappoint. Standard flavors, standard service but in a new, clean location with decent amount of parking.

Sonya M.

Yelp
It was such a great and refreshing treat especially with it being so hot! They are serving only to go orders and you can call in ahead. Amy's has many different ice cream flavors as well as a variety of toppings to choose from!!! I change it up every time I go and it always comes out delicious! The staff is nice and friendly as well as very clean! If you are a frequent customer don't forget to ask for a punch card that will give you a free ice cream after so many orders!

Maricela C.

Yelp
I love Amy's ice cream. Every single flavor I have tried is amazing. My favorite is mexican vanilla and also the big red flavor when it's available. It's easy to order on the app, so use it and skip the line. Staff is really friendly and are well trained in covid procedures. I felt safe picking up my ice cream.

Mary S.

Yelp
Pandemic review: SAFE! CLEAN! Employees wore masks. Everyone kept a "safe" distance and wore masks outside when ordering and waiting. The ice cream was delish!

Kristie F.

Yelp
So happy to have an Amy's open it's doors on the East Side. Thanks for letting me try the flavours when I visit - it's never easy to choose. Bonus: funny hats to try on, assuming these are for kids and drunk adults. Bummer: no alcohol served on the premises.

Andrew C.

Yelp
Ian is the freaking man! This dude loves his job and gave us a full run down of ALLLLL the flavors. He even did a cool throw the ice cream in the air and it landed in the cone. This guy is great!

Christine N.

Yelp
My daughter and I shared a small Belgium chocolate with nutter butter, was delicious! This location seems to have plenty of ice cream cakes in comparison to the other Amy's. Plenty of seating, the people that served us gave us a little show, performing small little tricks with the ice cream.

Amanda P.

Yelp
Reliably delicious and pleasing - never a let down! I got Mexican vanilla with golden Oreo crush'ns; delicious and classic. Rest of my family got chocolate, peppermint and coffee flavored ice cream - all of which were tasty and indigent. My 3-year-old loves the ice cream acrobatics of the employees. It's fun and tastes great - can't beat it! This particular location is small and has very limited outdoor seating. Can't wait for them to open up indoor dining at this location again!

Romy G.

Yelp
Somewhere they have a website that will allow you to order a personalized cake for pickup at this store, but this store no longer personalizes cakes. This, after paying online, follow up phone calls, and a blank cake arriving a day late.

Elaine M.

Yelp
Update: they called to tell me they had a discussion with the employee like it was her fault. When I asked why there wasn't another person there I got a little profit over people speech. Ick. Gross. Ew.

Dere J.

Yelp
Expensive but i think its worth it. I got Belgian chocolate and enjoyed it alot, small was 5 dollars each but, its some of the best if not the best ice cream ive ever had!

Hailey J.

Yelp
I live in town and usually enjoy this Amy's but had a terrible experience with ONE employee working on 1/8/21 in the evening. She was extremely dismissive and unfriendly. Made us so uncomfortable we ended up leaving without purchasing anything. However, we went to the Guadalupe location and had AMAZING customer service and enjoyed the ice cream!!
