No dining indoors because of Covid. Did not appreciate having to eat in my car because outdoor seating was too cold. They need a salted caramel flavored ice cream! The staff was very friendly. The Mocha Heath ice cream was good.

We walked in and were quickly greeted with a smile. The employee went through all of our options in regards to ice cream and even gave us a little history nehind the nes as well as the Ice Cream Shop. She was a Super friendly woman and seemed to really enjoy what she does. We ordered our ice cream and enjoyed them both. The ice cream was good and nicely portioned.

Ice cream, for the wealthy only. Yes, you can get a range of delicious ice creams. For those with a family, bring your money with you!. The smallest serving cup, will set you back $6.50 with a topping. - Enjoy

After leaving Lake Travis and eating at The Oasis (where the service and food was lacking) we opted to eat dessert here instead of at The Oasis and the staff was super friendly, helpful and enthusiastic! They engaged with our young kiddos and made their day while making them sundaes. They were wearing fun hats and having a good time (not like the staff at The Oasis who were socializing and ignoring staff). It's crazy because I'm sure the staff was paid half of what the staff at The Oasis are paid and they genuinely loved their jobs and how to represent the brand well.

Super friendly staff. Prices are decent. I only wish there were more flavors to choose. I didn’t find the ice cream to be anything super special, but the portions are very generous.

The original location of Amy’s Ice Creams could be considered a pilgrimage site. Despite expanding locations and cities, Amy’s maintains the consistently and quality. The flavors rotate and they’re happy to offer samples, so be adventurous! The Zilker Mint Chip is always a good bet (add Oreos!). It’s very hard to go wrong here. A true Texas original that’s absolutely worth a visit!

Been 30 years since I've had Amy's. Didn't miss a beat. Fantastic ice cream and so glad to see how it's grown. Worth the trip back!!!

We have been coming here since 2009. Never a disappointment with the choice Amy’s ice cream offers. Delicious ice cream and friendly staff. My favorite is Mexican vanilla!
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
I had the Mexican vanilla shake! It was delicious! I have been here many times and I will always come back!
google avatar

Brooke D.

Yelp
First time at Amy's and it did not disappoint! I got the classic Mexican vanilla with almonds and strawberries and it was so so yummy. It wasn't too sweet and I didn't feel gross after finishing it like I do at other places like coldstone. I wish it wasn't as pricey as it was but I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious late night dessert! Plenty of seating in and outside. Very popular spot apparently because more and more ppl showed after us and it was about 10pm. Employees were very patient as this was our first visit and service was quick!
google avatar

Bella G.

Yelp
I'm honestly surprised I've never reviewed Amy's before considering it originated in Austin and there's some in San Antonio buuuut better late than never I decided to be a little plain and get Mexican vanilla. That's the good thing about Amy's though, even the 'basic' flavors slap. This ice cream had great flavor and was the perfect lil pick-me-up before attempting to catch up on school work ‍
google avatar

Beverly M.

Yelp
The scoops are so large, especially after being mashed and blended, that any hope of eating out of a cone is dashed, so order your cone plus a cup. Loving the chocolate orange flavor, but I gilded the lily yesterday when I added hot fudge. I miss the funky photo booth. But I still love Amy's very very much. And the servers always brighten my day.
google avatar

Chelsea L.

Yelp
Love it here! Got the Sweet Cream and I customized it with mint chocolate chips with a waffle cone. Perfect dessert within walkable distance from UT campus! They also have a parking lot.
google avatar

Sebastian K.

Yelp
Super good ice cream with cashiers always friendly. I like their wide selection of flavors with tasty toppings. Never a long line and is quiet, good place to relax and treat yourself.
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
Enjoyed an ice cream after lunch one day during my trip and enjoyed the world famous vanilla and it was quite yummy! There are not quite as many flavors at this location as I was expecting, but they offer lots of toppings and also had pints for sale to take home. There are a few tables/benches to sit on, but I imagine during the summer it's packed.
google avatar

Linh P.

Yelp
This is a grab and go kind of place. You can't really sit down and eat your ice cream. There are some benches around, but probably people are already sitting there. When I went, it was pretty busy but the line went very fast. They had two people helping out the registers. I think the ice cream I got was the campfire treat and it was delicious. I love the chocolate pieces in it and how the biscoff cookie got soft in the ice cream. My friends got the sweet cream and they said it tasted exactly how you think sweet cream would taste. Nothing too special.

Yelp
Of course we've been to this Amy's location like a bazillion time since our last review because 1) it's so close to our house and 2) we have an ice cream-obsessed child, and it's usually the standard experience. We love seeing the guy that's been working there for all ten years that we've lived in ATX. HOWEVER. We recently knocked the hipster-laden Amy's on South Congress because it served up some half melted ice cream crap that we thought was to blame on the location. BUT NO, we stand corrected! This problem is endemic because it happened again at the Guadalupe location a couple weeks ago and what the what, Amy!!! Pull it together and stop serving your customers melted ice cream. It's gross, it's unprofessional, and it's a waste of our money. We're not even going to say anything nice about any of the other flavors that were had that day, and we're instituting a new policy: automatic one star review if you serve up a bunch of liquid again. Train your staff either to warn/ask the customer if they want melted ice cream or to say that that flavor is not available until it firms up more. Ridiculous! We're pissed.
google avatar

Dante M.

Yelp
One of my girlfriends teammates recommend that we check out Amy's ice cream while we were in Austin, and even though it probably led us being stuck in a rainstorm and our campsite flooding, it was worth it! I got a double scoop: one of the mint and one of the dark chocolate, and both were so good! This seemed like such a fun spot to come with friends for ice cream, and the service was awesome!
google avatar

Jenn W.

Yelp
Came to Amy's after reading so many websites saying this is a must do while in Austin. Unfortunately, our family left confused as to why it was so highly esteemed. The staff was not particularly friendly and seemed frustrated that we were there. The ice cream was.....well....ice cream, and the waffle cones were disappointing. Would we return to Amy's? For the price - lack of tastiness - lack of friendliness - I'd say no.
google avatar

Samuel C.

Yelp
The ice cream itself at Amy's Ice Creams is ho hum. But when you put absolutely awesome hot fudge sauce all over that ice cream, Nothing else really matters !!!!!
google avatar

Sandy Y.

Yelp
Mexican Vanilla + Hot Fudge & Congress Parade + Bischoff Cookies. Good, solid ice cream. This location didn't carry any wild flavors but still have great options. Cold stone used for mix-ins.
google avatar

Phoebe W.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night. It was packed. I'm so glad they stay open late. There were about 4-5 staff members working hard to serve everyone as quickly as possibly. The ice cream is pretty tasty. They have a variety of both standard and unique flavors. You have the option to mix the toppings into your ice cream. It's great they do that, but bear in mind it takes a bit longer, especially if the line is long. I ordered two flavors for my tiny sized cup. I decided not to get any toppings. Their ice cream is milky, which I like. I'd definitely come back.

JP P.

Yelp
Ice cream was so so. Service was average. Not exactly warm and welcoming but hey they want their 20% tip when they turn around that tablet. Their price is ridiculous. $9 shakes and $8 for two very small scoops and one topping. Don't believe the hype. This place is all about tourists and NOT quality ice cream. Looks like Amy's has seen better days.

Captain S.

Yelp
this is so tuff and good definitely order here again the ice cream flavors were so unique I like it here would eat again

Yelp
When you're a New Yorker experiencing the Austin heat for the first time while traveling with a potty training two year old, ice cream becomes a staple of your diet. Such was the case this past weekend for our little family. A little research online led us to Amy's and we were genuinely impressed with the quality of their product, the relatively reasonable prices and the extremely friendly service. We were a little apprehensive when we arrived and the line was out the door. Thankfully junior was fascinated by the decor outside - would not stop talking about the pink ice cream melting on the roof...in fact, we heard about it a lot the rest of the weekend. The line moved pretty quickly and before we knew it it was our turn. Opted for the bee cave crunch ice cream which was fabulous, their famed Mexican Vanilla with the addition of honey, cinnamon and pecans. I had this topped with the pecan praline and it was heavenly. The rest of our party also really enjoyed their concoctions, especially junior who ironically opted for "white ice cream" (vanilla) after all that talk about the pink outside. I can't sit here and tell you that Amy's was the best ice cream we had in Austin because Lick Honest took that crown by a mile, but it was definitely solid and we truly enjoyed it, enough so that we had another go round at their airport outpost while waiting for our flight. We will definitely be back to try more flavors on our next trip to ATX.

Yelp
Good ice cream, good service, 10% discount for UT students! I got an email from Amy's while studying and knew I had to try their newly released magic bar flavor! (I also tried their Bunny Tail flavor which was also super good, but I stuck with the magic bar.) The Magic Bar has toasted coconut, chocolate chips, Biscoff cookies, and butterscotch chips! It's one of my favorite ice cream flavors ever! While checking out and grabbing my cards, I ended up tilting my cone on accident, dropping the scoops onto the counter. Immediately, the cashier offered to grab me a few scoops into a cup to make up for it, even though it was completely my fault! They were so kind, and I'll absolutely be back for some more ice cream runs with my best friend to try their new seasonal flavors!
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
Tasty! I also enjoyed that the combinations of flavors were not totally weird. The staff are a bit strange but they seem to enjoy their jobs so that's nice.

Yelp
Been to a few Amy's in austin. First time visiting this Amy's on Guadalupe by UT. We got there very early in the day and were the only ones in the eating icecream at 11:30am on a Friday. Good part was it was clean and very inviting at that time of the day. Ordered couple of ice creams and enjoyed it like you would always at Amy's. Staff was super courteous and helpful. This location was pretty cool and would come back for sure
google avatar

Tressa M.

Yelp
Best vegan ice cream i've had in awhile. Got it with bananas and coconut chucks. Soft, sweet, and delicious
google avatar

Cherry Y.

Yelp
I always come back to Amy's every now and then, even though I know that my previous experiences haven't been the best. This time was no different --only one vegan option, disappointing in both the limited options as well as the flavor. The vanilla flavor had a weird aftertaste that my mom and I did not enjoy. They also did not have any sorbets, which was what my mom wanted, so she got the grape kool aid flavor (which was the closest thing to a sorbet, according to the employee) but she didn't really enjoy that either.
google avatar

Ezana C.

Yelp
One star for bad customer service. Didn't have the chance to try the ice cream. Got to this store not too long before closing, there was a line. Upon entering the last customer in line told me that he was the last and that they were closed to new customers. I didn't buy that the employees would ask a customer to deflect people like a bouncer. As I was hesitating in disbelief, some assh*le behind the counter in a strong nasally tone says the customer isn't lying and we have to leave. All I wanted was a milkshake... at the very least talk to me nice. We've all worked service shifts that end a little late it's not that bad. Update: made it back to Amy's and got a milkshake. Tasted good, presentation was underwhelming. My heart sank a little bit when my cup didn't runneth over. Also consistency was a bit too milky.
google avatar

Yelp
I will gladly scream for Amy's. They've recently renovated and I will say, it looks NICE and vibey. I'm obsessed with their sweet cream. It's creamy and tasty in the most wholesome way. The staff is great! Worker actually helped me with getting a discount even though I didn't have my student ID. Overall, a reliable and great place!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing ice cream, very rude, zero friendly staff. Not a welcome, not a smile, my child told the person thank you for his ice cream and just turned around.
google avatar

Diana V.

Yelp
A real gem of Austin. All the locations I've been to are great. I really appreciate that they have dairy free options. I used to be vegan and I know the struggle of your friends wanting ice cream but not wanting to go to a special vegan place with you, but this place has the best of both! Waffle cones are housemade! It was fun to watch them make them and get free samples !
google avatar

Eric O.

Yelp
Came here with my family while on vacation. We got , a strawberry ice cream sandwich, Mexican vanilla ice cream sandwich and the Mk special. It was A very fun experience. The ice cream was ok-good, but really appreciated the friendliness of the associates. Not a lot of options of ice cream. Overall, very fun, but prob won't be back.
google avatar

Sasha J.

Yelp
My family visited the Amy's on Manor Rd and had a pleasant experience! Easy parking, spacious indoors w bathrooms (no indoor seating currently), and kind staff. For most of us, this was our first time at Amy's. I enjoyed their cool combos. The theme for them was Starwars, and my bf got the Baby Yoda - mint chip ice cream w cookie dough and brownie bites. Amy's topping selection is front and center so the combo was helpful with choice paralysis. I got the banana pudding with chocolate sprinkles. I had never had banana pudding before and I absolutely loved it! I don't tend to gravitate towards banana-flavored things, but the textures of cookies and banana pieces really hit the spot.
google avatar

Bridget L.

Yelp
Amy's is an must-try in Austin. When I first moved here, I was skeptical about this place, but by now, I'm pretty much sold. Even though they jacked up their prices, the ice cream is still delicious. I love all the rotating flavors--I don't think I've ever had the same one twice! Ask for multiple samples every time. The best part are the crush-ins. Most places just dump some toppings on top, but Amy's crush-ins spread the magic throughout. I had a scoop of corn ice cream here, with a gigantic piece of cookie dough mixed in. Yum! There's plenty of relaxed seating for you to fully enjoy your scoop.
google avatar

Natasha N.

Yelp
Stopped by Amy's Ice Creams due to recommendations from the locals. Not my favorite place to get ice cream. Too creamy. I got the Sweet Cream and Strawberries. It didn't taste refreshing. Just tasted like milk with strawberries. The bf got the Mexican vanilla. Taste like cinnamon, but also too creamy. Both ice cream flavors got really boring after a while. AS ALWAYS, NOM FOR LIFE!
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
You don't realize how old you are... until you're the oldest person at Amy's Ice Creams! Come in any day or night of the week and you'll see nothing, but college students in large t-shirts, nike shorts, and Birkenstocks. If you're a college student, you apparently get a discount... which of course, once again, I'M TOO OLD FOR THAT :,( Came in one night to introduce my Californian boyfriend to MEXICAN VANILLA. Unfortunately, he's lactose intolerant.. but guess what? They have a vegan option!! I tasted both, and the only difference is they use a coconut milk in their Vegan Mexican Vanilla. Just as delicious, but healthier!
google avatar

Evelyn R.

Yelp
I went to Amy's yesterday to a different location and came to this different location today and it was not the same. This particular location doesn't let you sample which is weird. Why does the SAME business change so much from location to location? I ordered a banana split and even that was made differently than the last location and the whipped cream was different as well, it looked sad. It just flopped and looked sad and runny. The flavors were limited too, at least the ones I liked. The girl behind the counter told me that the Mexican vanilla is Madagascar vanilla. How could that be? If the vanilla beans grow in Madagascar it is no longer Mexican. I'm confused and the experience was just super average.
google avatar

Isabella L.

Yelp
We didn't even try the ice cream here because the prices were outrageous and we saw the servings were incredibly small. We went to another shop for ice cream instead. What I can say is that the shop was very clean and there was a little line so to some people the wait and price must be worth the taste

Joseph S.

Yelp
Our go to ice cream place whenever we visit Austin! Been coming to this Austin chain for 30 + years!
google avatar

Megan R.

Yelp
If you want a dessert to satisfy your sugar cravings, Amy's is the place to go! I get a "mystery box" most of the time and always leave happy. A mystery box is when the staff creates their own ice cream and topping combo based on your flavor profile or you can just leave it up To them if you are not picky. The staff is very friendly and they are well staffed for the most part even though the lines can be long.
google avatar

Lucy H.

Yelp
The place seemed very nice, cool, and hip with an abundance of ice cream flavors and marble slab style. I liked the cohesiveness of the funky theme in the music, furniture, and the workers. I came here around 9:30PM and the line was around 20 minutes. I got the Belgium Chocolate small with marshmallows for $3-4. It was pretty average price for the ice cream. The ice cream itself was very smooth, rich, and creamy, however they didn't mix the marshmallows in and it was awkwardly on top. However, as we were sitting down, there was a huge COCKROACH climbing on the walls! All the customers in line watched and pointed in disgust and nobody did anything to get rid of it. I liked the ice cream and workers but just the low maintenance in cleaning made me feel uncomfortable. Nobody wants to see a live cockroach climbing in a food institution where they're eating.
google avatar

Arianna A.

Yelp
The dark chocolate is (without question) the best chocolate ice cream I have ever eaten. Let it melt slightly. It is stunning. Is the price point higher than buying a gallon of HEB's Creamy Creations? Yes, it is. But guess what folks? You are ingesting a curated, boutique-style ice cream. It's intended to be decadent and intended to be something of a treat. Reading negative reviews where one time patrons are complaining about the ice cream being too creamy is hard to take, frankly. In the words of my live in: "That's like saying: 'sex is good, but maybe it's too good. I hate coming that hard.'" I apologize if that's too graphic for yelp, but my goodness. Are there really people objecting to creamy ice cream? It's kinda in the name, y'all (ice CREAM). If you hate creamy, incredibly flavorful ice cream, please pick me up a pint of dark chocolate at Amy's and head over to my apartment. I'll fix you some ice cubes mixed with gravel from our driveway. It'll be cold, but it will decidedly be not creamy.

Samantha W.

Yelp
This is pathetic. I paid $5.75 plus tax for this amount of vanilla ice cream. This is not even one full scoop. I am very disappointed as a long time customer of amy's.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Went around 1PM on a very hot July day, hoping a refreshing treat would cool the century mark temperatures. No cars in the parking lot, and as my granddaughter opened the entry door, she exclaimed "There's no line!" And it's no wonder. Like everywhere else in 2022, pricing continues to increase, partly from increasing rents and wages, plus the cost for ingredients that are over the top. Those are Amy's problems, but not mine. While Amy's has always served delicious ice creams, my life can do without $7.50 for a milkshake. And evidently it's the same for many other consumers. Amy's treats are no longer a small indulgence since they have priced themselves out of the mainstream consumer market, and it now requires a bank loan for such luxuries. The price of an Amy's shake is equivalent to nearly 3 chocolate shakes at McDonald's. Thankfully, my grandchildren are not old enough to notice a difference between these two franchises' frozen treats. Best of luck in a struggling industry.
google avatar

Garen A.

Yelp
Decent ice cream chain, but I have to say I wasn't as impressed by it as some other reviewers here seem to be. I definitely do like the decor (so many cows!) but for all that the place didn't have so much character. The ice cream itself is good. Creamy consistency and the right amount of sweetness. Overall I'd say this place is a good stop for a sweet treat if it's on your way, but I wouldn't trek across the city for it. Stay Cheerful ;)
google avatar

Randy O.

Yelp
The ice cream was subpar. They don't have the traditional ice cream. But I felt as if there wasn't many options. I feel like it wasn't worth the price. But the workers are so nice and welcoming. I really appreciate that they enforced social distancing and wearing a mask. I felt comfortable going in.

Karen B.

Yelp
I was just in the Guadalupe store. There were three people working with one person leaving. The two people left one had a red cap on the other had a pink sequin type cap on the line was fairly long, but those two kept them self busy talking to each other about their personal life, when I finally managed to get up to the counter after 10 minutes, I asked them why the ice cream was not solid? The one "oh, we left it out too long, but it's also very hot outside "I thought yes it is and that's why I'm coming in to get ice cream at a millionaires price. It really bugged me I will not be back.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
I hit Amy's every time I visit Austin...right after visiting Black's BBQ down the street. Amy's has great ice cream. They carry all kinds of interesting flavors. The service the last time I visited was great but it's not always so great. It's not bad; I think the seeming constant line of people may wear down the servers a bit? If you're anywhere in the area, I recommend a stop at Amy's. I don't think you could go wrong here!
google avatar

Aiden R.

Yelp
Every time I go in here I get treated like shit for being visibly queer. They also put whole milk in my vegan milkshake so I've been sick for the last 12 hours because I'm lactose intolerant.
google avatar

Courtney T.

Yelp
Delicious. This is the location most students go to. Sometimes my student org will host a tab here, and it is a popular event. A topping is part of the experience. I like Belgian chocolate with Oreos. You get a free topping if you can identify which movie the quote of the day is from.
google avatar

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
Yummy! I only save 5 star reviews for perfect places ;). Parking was simple. The ice cream server was kind and courteous. She said it was fine for me to sample multiple flavors. I tried the Mexican vanilla, Oreo, Belgian chocolate. Down the street Trudy's uses their Mexican vanilla for their desserts so I thought that was cool. The server was knowledgeable about the ice cream and helped me make my choice. She said that the Mexican vanilla was the base for the Oreo. The Belgian chocolate was really chocolatey. That's when she asked me if I wanted to try the sweet cream since I was thinking about it. I tasted it and it was perfect. She said that sweet cream was used as the base for all the other flavors basically. I wanted a crush in so I opted for a small after eating a large lunch. I don't know why but graham crackers popped into my head. I was gonna talk myself out of it but good thing I didn't. The sweet cream with graham crackers was the perfect combo. Even though I got a small it's definitely worth the price. It had a hefty portion in the cup. My boyfriend got the tiny and it was still a lot of ice cream for him and he got the Mexican vanilla. It was good. Tip: if you want to get a cone you can only get sprinkles. So that's why I opted for the cup. I'm assuming it's a bigger portion than the cone. I would definitely come again.

Ferris B.

Yelp
WARNING IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES!!! Turns out that you no longer have to list potential allergens in your ingredient list! Had a vegan friend who had previously eaten the vegan ice cream here almost go into anaphylaxis because the sunflower content in the ice cream was not labeled. This fault is NOT at the hand of the employees working tirelessly in store, it's at the hands of the website for not being updated and upper level management not caring enough about allergens. Seriously upsetting.
google avatar

Sirena L.

Yelp
Huh, I didn't realize I hadn't written a review for Amy's yet. Amy's is the ice cream of Austin. They're the reason Ben & Jerry's can't seem to make it here. Each location is unique and quirky. This one has an old photo booth that apparently takes quite a while to print. There's quite a lot of visual stimuli to keep you entertained if you're in line. If you aren't familiar with Amy's, it's a bit like Coldstone in that you can get things crushed & mixed into your ice cream. But they also have fun rotating flavors, including 2-3 vegan options and 2 alcohol-infused flavors. You may not always find just the thing you're looking for, particularly if you're partial to creamy fruity ice cream flavors, but you're bound to find something to enjoy. And you can taste as many flavors as your heart desires. I personally find that a tiny size on a cone is plenty for me to satiate my dessert cravings. Note that when you get a tiny, you can only get toppings, not crush-ins. You can also order decadent shakes or ice cream cakes of various sizes. They also sell other things like chocolate-covered strawberries, hot cocoa mix, packaged marshmallows, and cute inflatable cows. Lines can get long depending on when you go. Most of the time I don't wait for more than a few minutes, but on my most recent trip it took 40 min or so to get to order. They only had 1 person serving at the time, but the people are always nice and ready to help. Occasionally they even perform and toss around scoops. Last few thoughts: don't forget to get a stamp card! 10 stamps gets you free ice cream, or you can save up 20 stamps to get a t-shirt. Also, if you're there during the day and have a few extra minutes, walk over to Planet K for photo ops with an Austin mural.
