ANAM

"At this humble diner situated in Bukchon Village, Seoul, the pork and rice soup comes in two sizes: medium and extra-meat. In the soup, a special oil made with Cheongyang chili pepper and kale is drizzled on top of the agreeably clean broth, with their culinary harmony creating a unique visual appearance and rich flavors. Plus, the Spanish Duroc baby pork ribs and thin slices of pork butt that complement the dish are exceedingly tender and boast subtle flavors, raising the gastronomic experience to a new crescendo. Visit Anam and enjoy a warm hearty bowl of its trademark soup. One last thing: Feel free to add cilantro to taste." - Michelin Inspector

Came around 15 minutes before opening and there was already a queue. Luckily we made it for the first round. Excellent pork bone broth soup with rice. The broth was very light in flavour and totally no weird pork smell. Also ordered a porition of a charcoal fried pork which was moist and crispy at the same time. Will be back for sure.

Very clean and clear pork broth similar to other Michelin guide places, the good thing is you can place your name down and walk away and come back when it's your turn so no real issue with the wait time.

So rude there is no standard of service. The most horrible restaurant in my life. Do not waste you money. I was one of last customer and they were preparing for their staff meal. Asking me to pay bill first and keep looking at me and I felt very uncomfortable to finish my meal. Lastly, the end of the meal I asked for toothpick and he said they don’t have. Seriously??

It is a cozy and busy restaurant. So, please consider a minimum of 30 minutes waiting. The menu has 3 items, pork stew with rice, pork fries, and steamed pork. Foods are delicious. Especially the pork stew is very good. Overall, the price level is high, and the service is OK. But its vibe is kinda wrong. It is supposed to be like a local, yet I felt like I was having a local stew at a bar in the US.

If I can give it less than a 1 I would. This place is an absolute fraud, we were 3rd in line before opening, travelled an hour to try it out. Place started to get packed, on opening staff was letting everyone in before me and my wife and told us to wait. Again. Absolutely disrespectful and quite racist in my opinion, not only was the guy rude but the way he looked at us and was horrendous. Korea, do better if you’re. Disgusting food, don’t waste your time here. Period

The food was incredible here, the Jeyuk was thinly sliced and really fresh and light to start the meal. The pork rice soup was amazing, the pork was super tender, the meat ripped apart effortlessly and the soup itself was so gentle and not overpowering with flavour, you are truly enjoying the freshness of the broth and pork. We lined up at 11:15 and was able to get in right after they opened at 11:30. Recommend coming here a bit early and lining up if you don’t want to wait, otherwise you can come and get a number and they’ll send you an alert to your email or phone once your number is called.

Taste is very special. Base of the broth may be Korean, but its spice is exotic because they use special herbs which are not usually used in Korean food. Service is kind and food is served privately, so it can appeal to foreign people who are not used to sharing the same bowl. I didn't drink but they prepare a few Korean traditional liquors that may be a good pair with their food. This would be a special experience to both foreign and local people.

My first time trying gukbap and I enjoyed the dish! Anam is known for their gukbap— rice, pork, and soup. Very unusual to have rice in the soup but it was a very light and hearty dish. Expect to wait a few hours before you enter as the restaurant only has a few seats. We started queueing around 11:30pm on a Sunday and only got to enter around 3pm. Yes, it’s THAT busy! So better go early to queue so you can just come back when it’s your turn.
