"At this humble diner situated in Bukchon Village, Seoul, the pork and rice soup comes in two sizes: medium and extra-meat. In the soup, a special oil made with Cheongyang chili pepper and kale is drizzled on top of the agreeably clean broth, with their culinary harmony creating a unique visual appearance and rich flavors. Plus, the Spanish Duroc baby pork ribs and thin slices of pork butt that complement the dish are exceedingly tender and boast subtle flavors, raising the gastronomic experience to a new crescendo. Visit Anam and enjoy a warm hearty bowl of its trademark soup. One last thing: Feel free to add cilantro to taste." - Michelin Inspector

Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around Anguk and decided to join the queue around 12pm. We waited about two hours, but it was well worth it. We ended up visiting twice in one week during our trip to Seoul. For our second visit, we arrived about half an hour before dinner—tip: go slightly early before the store opens to avoid a long wait. It’s a small space that seats around 20 people, with a beautifully designed interior—thoughtful lighting and a colour-coordinated menu that ties everything together. The main dish is a simple yet elevated take on gukbap. The broth is on the lighter side, yet there’s so much depth in the flavours, and the green oil—initially looking decorative—actually brings the whole dish to life. It’s a refined, contemporary spin on a traditional favourite. Staff were warm and friendly, which really stood out compared to many other restaurants we visited in Seoul. Side dishes were great as well. The sliced pork salad with lime was refreshing and delicious, and the tenderloin cutlet balls were a standout. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and don’t mind a bit of a wait—we’ll definitely visit again when we’re back in Seoul.

It was fine, not sure if at the level of what I would expect a Michelin recommendation to be. The main (only) dish is a broth with 2 types of pork, thinly sliced and with bone, and rice. Broth has a green oily ingredient that was a bit spicy, rice had also barley (I think). Pork meat was very soft but was missing some salt, also I think the meat was boiled. We tried the optional side that was the deep fried pork loin, it was spectacular, I wish I had ordered more. It came with an aleoli that was a great pairing. Service is very quick. Place has limited seating so we had to get ourselves in a list and wait, it was not bad at all considering we had 10 groups ahead.

This is a Michelin restaurant tucked away in Anguk serving delicious Anam Gukbap. Per usual in S. Korea the menu is simple, offering a few of their signature dishes. We tried the Gukbap (rice with pork soup) and Jeyuk (Pork slices salad) and both dishes did not disappoint. The Gukbap is especially tasty with the topping of green oil which I believe is made of cilantro. The Jeyuk is delicious too. Highly recommend to come here.

If you are from a place with very strong flavors, you may be taken aback from the lightness of the broth and the pork. Understand to appreciate what it takes to make it as light as it is and tasting with so much depth. Great pairings with the San Miguel Beer and the rice wine; great recommendations. Avenue is small enough to allow casual conversation, but don't linger as there are others waiting for a seat.

The broth is a bit bland for my liking, but the meat is very soft. The crispy pork is really nice though, especially with the sauce. Came on Sunday 11.15 and got in at 12.00 ~ good thing is that while waiting you can stroll around the Bukchon area and they will send you a message when your turn is up.

This restaurant is small, with only about 15 seats, but it’s always full of customers, both inside and outside waiting. I came here for lunch with a friend. They opened at 11:30 a.m., but when I arrived around 11:40, I was already number 16 on the waiting list. So my friend and I walked to the nearby museum and waited about an hour before getting in. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the food was just okay — not really excellent.

Must try this restaurant if you are near Bukchon area! Incredibly delicious pork soup!!! Plus, Michelin 2025 after 2024 and not expensive at all. Even though you don’t like pork, I strongly recommend to taste this soup. I had a plain soup but you can put cilantro if you like it. Will come back here 100%.

Stumbled upon this divine little Pork Rice Soup place in Bukchon called Anam. Very simple menu, the only choice being with or without Cilantro. There is also a sliced pork not shown and Pork Rock which is in this post. The soup broth is so delicate. The techniques to make this would be quite difficult. The prize was the pork rock dish which has a beautiful outer crust and delicious piece of Pork inside not mince. Perfectly matched with their award winning Sokoju. Well worth a visit.
