Small but focused menu. The handrolls are decent and it is a good value to order the 4 and 5 roll sets over a la carte. Blue crab was good, the others just kind of blended together without much distinction. Very small drink menu, only 3 sakes available. I appreciate the desire for freshness but when my dining partner went to that bathroom they tossed the unesten roll. Totally wasteful.

I've been waiting for a simple handroll Bar to open in Chicago, and I'm glad that there's one that ioened up just down the street from me. Warm rice and tasty fish/seafood wrapped in crispy nori ("seaweed"). These are smaller than your typical Maki rolls, much simpler, and most of all, more satisfying than most think. There's about 8 different fish/seafood options, a handful of vegetarian options, and you can order alacarte or in packs. I really recommend going the pack route, ordering a set pack of 3-6 handrolls results in an average cost of $5 per roll. Out of all the types I ate, my favorites were the scallop and yellowtail, but everything was great. Watch out for the spicy tuna - it's actually spicy (but really good!). My 6 pack also came with salmon, blue crab, and lobster. I was happy with them all. Staff are super friendly, and service was really fast. Chef waits for you before making and serving you your next roll since these are meant to be enjoyed as soon as he sets it down in front of you else the nori won't be as crispy. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago already. Do yourself a favor and go before the waits get ridiculous!

Quaint and adorable, primarily bar seating only with one small table. They serve food from Mana bar which basically surrounds Anaba with seating out front, next to, and on another patio in the back. While Mana is served at Anaba it does no go the other way around. This is because they believe the hand roll should be enjoyed immediately for best taste. Appreciate their attention to quality and the experience inside is worth it.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere here but there was not enough fish in the hand rolls. The rice overpowered all other flavors except the onion. The toasted seaweed wrapper was really nice on these though.

My man of few words scraped the last drops of red bean ice cream from the bowl and said, ‘Mmm. Very good.’ I had to order seconds after having Alfonso’s mushroom hand rolls. (And it was our mouths not stomachs asking for more) The gyoza (6 🥟) to share were a tasty start. We tried the charred eggplant, the shishitos (peppers that ‘might be hot’ and yes one was 💋), the Go Mae (yum!! Love the sauce) and then those magnificent hand rolls. Topped off w an ice cream (like creamy ice flakes)... Try it all! You’ll be back!

Best handrolls in the City, and beware, this place might spoil you for sushi anywhere else. The warm crispy almost melt in your mouth nori, warm rice, delicious tuna, crab, shiitake mushrooms, etc...and light sauce...yum! I love the handrolls with Sapporo on tap.

Seriously some of the best sushi in Chicago! The hand rolls here are expertly crafted and every one we tried was amazing. Highly recommend!

The price can really add up at this place if you drink, but it is undeniably a fantastic experience worth the cost.
