London’s Best South Indian Restaurants Serve Kerala and Hyderabadi Food - Eater London

"A no-frills East Ham café that’s cramped with tables too close together: This Kerala venue attracts mostly male customers who come for the many stridently spiced beef, chicken, and seafood dishes. There’s a vast menu that includes fried silver pomfret, crab curry, and a range of chicken curries flavoured with roasted fresh coconut. Spongy discs of thattu dosa come with potent sambar astringent with asafoetida; and marvellously peppery avial, though a little dry, is crammed with pieces of earthy yams, raw green bananas, and vegetable drumsticks." - Sejal Sukhadwala

Where to Eat in London This Weekend | Restaurant Recommendations | Eater London

"A modest East Ham spot home to two standout chicken dishes: a Desi-Chinese Ananthapuri special that is sweet-spicy, peppery and crisp with green peppers and celery, and a Kerala-style half fry drenched in fried ginger and chilli best eaten with hands, paratha and coconut-rich gravies. The cooking leans bold and oily in the best local traditions, delivering intense, hand-to-mouth comfort." - James Hansen

We ordered beef ulathiyathu, porotta, appam, erachi choru, mutton roast and pazham pozhi (plantain in fried dough). Beef ulathiyathu was excellent, very authentic. Porotta was larger than I expected and was also great. Appam was very good and well made, I would definitely recommend. Pazham pozhi was underwhelming and didn't feel authentic and I would not recommend. Mutton roast was also good. Tea was really good. Erachi chor was milder in spice and flavor than I expected, more like beef biryani but milder. Overall, fast service, resonably priced and tasty food from kerala.

I recently visited Ananthpuram and had a good experience. We tried a few dishes, starting with the pazhampori with beef starter, which was a unique and tasty combination. The naadan chicken fry and porotta were flavorful and satisfying, but the highlight for me was definitely the king fish fry—authentic, spicy, and packed with traditional Kerala-style taste. The place is a bit congested in terms of table and chair spacing, but the good service, friendly staff, and well-curated menu make up for it.

I recently visited Ananthapuram traditional Kerala restaurant ,and overall it was a pleasant experience. The ambience is cozy and inviting, making it a great place for both casual meals and small gatherings. The food was tasty, though some dishes could be more flavorful. The service was friendly, but a little slow during peak hours. Prices are slightly higher than average, but the quality of the ingredients justifies it. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a calm and enjoyable dining experience in East Ham.

Worst of the Worst ! *Basically no stars. *Not recommend for families. I have ordered Mutton Roast and Pal Kappa. They have made me both same curry for both with different meat. Then they mixed BEEF and MUTTON to serve me for roast !. Please be aware !!

Taste 2/5 Chicken and mutton biryani are the same rice with different meat on it. Even I and my family went there with a huge, hungry taste for food that made us feel bad.

- FABULOUS FOOD, FANTASTIC STAFFS & COSY ENVIRONMENT - I had a fish meal thali set ... The food is tasty and very filling, come with a decent portion. The fish curry is top notch like a home cook meal. The waitress who is serving me was very polite and kind too. Since it was weekend the shop was quite busy.. Overall i like food, for sure will return back to taste their other menus as well 😎😜😋

Food was really good. I had Kerala meals and tea. Best place to have Kerala meals in east ham. But waiting time was really long ( it took them more than 30minutes to just serve Kerala meals).

Yelp
First visit here, I had a classic fish Molly and appam. At £8.80 great value! Restaurant is quite new though so has a few teething problems and seems to be burdened by delivery orders resulting in poor service and long waits for food to arrive... Very very tasty though when it came! Might leave it a while before they get the service in order..
