The 22 Best Restaurants in Richmond, BC | Eater

"Anar began as a small Persian food stall in a predominantly Chinese food court, and has since moved into a historical house in Steveston. Incorporating herbs, nuts, and a variety of fruit like pomegranates, plums, and prunes into its food, Anar favors flavors that are bold and bright, as evidenced in small plates like mirza ghasemi (smoky eggplant in tomato and garlic sauce) and larger plates like baghali polo ba goosht (lamb shank and dill rice with broad beans). Came here for an early Saturday evening dinner with a party of five. Made prior reservations for a 5:30pm seating. We were greeted warmly and seated at a large table. Drinks ordered included Persian Iced Tea, an Anar Pomengranate juice, Sharbat Persian Lemonade, and a hot Persian Tea. Starters included Dolmeh Barg, Cheese Truffle, Noon o Paneer o Gerdoo, Mirza Ghasemi, Zejtoon Parvardeh Mains included ZERESKH POLO BA MORGH, GHORMEH SABZI (BEEF), BAGHALI POLO (LAMB SHANK). Desserts was a shared Bastani/Faloodeh plus a Baklava. Starters came with a wonderful Persian bread. Presentation was so colourful and appealing. Loved them all but particularly the roasted eggplant! All the main dishes were seasoned well with the meats tender and flavourful. The accompanying rice was light and very tasty especially with the barberries and pistachio as part of the chicken dish. Sauces complemented well and did not overpower any of the dishes. The desserts provided a nice finish to a great dining experience! Would definitely repeat to try the rest of the menu!

I had the chicken leg kebab and lamb stew, and they were absolutely delicious! The meat was tender and full of flavor, and everything was cooked perfectly. Great service and cozy atmosphere too. I’ll definitely be coming back!

A little, cozy and super cute Persian restaurant in Richmond. Loved the decorations, servers were friendly. Food was as delicious and nicely presented. 100% recommended.

Visited Anar back in June. This homey spot serves up Persian cuisine in Steveston. For starters, we tried the Mirza Ghasemi ($15) - eggplant and Borani ($15) - spinach. Both dips are great with bread. Ordered the Loughmeh Kebab ($23) which is made from minced beef and lamb. The kebabs were quite tender. The Chicken Curry ($24) is a rather large dish of rice with spicy chicken pieces mixed inside. It had a fairly spicy kick to it. For drinks, we had the Ab Anar - pomegranate juice ($6) and Sharbat - Persian lemonade ($6) both were refreshing.

Google
Anar Restaurant is a great spot in the cozy neighborhood of Steveston. Tried sabzi polo ba mahi for Norouz, and it was well-prepared and flavorful. The fish was deep-fried and perfectly crunchy, paired nicely with the aromatic herb rice. The server was nice and welcoming, making the experience even better.

Delicious, authentic Persian food. Tried a couple of items on the menu and all were 10/10. Service is good with friendly staff. Definitely recommend giving it a try.

Incredible food, incredible service, absolutely would come again. Chia seed lemonade was 10/10

Yelp
This place is wonderful, we started out with hummus which was quite pleasant. Fresh, garlic flavor, mellow and yet delicious. My wife had the Persian lemonade which had chia seeds in it, very flavorful and refreshing! We also enjoyed the kebabs, the little veggies had a delicious dressing on it. The server who helped us was excellent - very attentive and kind! We lacked for nothing and yet it wasn't too much. The atmosphere was really good - lots of people having conversations and definitely chilling and enjoying themselves. They had Halloween decorations, which isn't really my jam but it's a cool spot, a house vibe. Overall really loved this spot! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Got introduced to this place during the Yelp Elite event back in November 2023. Finally decided to go again cause I remember the food was really good. Parking was kind of difficult to find, but not impossible. Came here as a group of 5 during the weekend. We had prior reservations so it was pretty smooth. Ordered platter for 4 and 2 desserts. The Mirza Ghasemi is my favourite dish of the night. Pairs really well with the bread, bread is pretty dry. Chicken curry was a bit spicy but perfect. Loghmeh was good, very flavourful and tender. The deserts are good too.

Yelp
Authenticity, Flavor, and Kabob Perfection! Walking into Anar Persian Cuisine feels like stepping into a culinary oasis. The decorations are so authentic I half-expected to be handed a magic carpet instead of a menu. Spoiler: no flying involved, but the food will transport your taste buds! The kabob lunch special is a total steal--and I don't mean petty theft, I mean highway robbery. For the price, you get tender, juicy kabobs that taste like they were marinated by the hands of Persian culinary gods themselves. The rice was fluffy enough to double as a cloud, and the fresh salad? Crisp, refreshing, and the perfect sidekick to this flavor-packed meal. The waitress was so kind and attentive she could probably solve world peace if given the chance. Her warmth and genuine care made the experience even better. If you love bold flavors, authentic vibes, and stealing great deals (legally), this is the spot for you. I'm kicking myself for not finding this place sooner, but don't worry--I'll make up for it by becoming their most loyal customer.

Yelp
Stopped by mid week for an early dinner in a group of 3. Anar is located in the heart of Steveston and there is plenty of free street parking in the area if you are not here on a wkd in the summer months. Anar is quite small and there was only one other group eating while we were there. We opted for the shared appetizer platter and the shared kabob (beef, lamb and chicken) platter. I enjoyed dipping the bread and pieces of the kabobs into the three dips...the humus and tzatziki were great. It was a positive food experience and happy to recommend Anar if in the area and looking for Persian food.

Yelp
We came on a weekend early evening and it was pretty quiet. This restaurant is small with one server at the time when we visited so you get the homey vibes. Service was good. Nothing outstanding but the server was friendly. The menu has a variety of items at reasonable prices. Portions are generous. The salad on the side was so refreshing and addictive. The meat was tender with the perfect amount of flavour. The beef didn't taste too gamey the first day but it had a strong gamier taste the following day when I was eating the leftovers. I'd recommend this restaurant and would return if u was ever in the area!

Yelp
Anar Persian Cuisine sits inside a cute, yellow house in the charming seaside neighbourhood of Steveston. This was our second time eating at this restaurant. They are one of my favourite Persian restaurants, so I was very happy to make it back here again. Umami Platter Vegan Ghormeh Sabzi Loughmeh Joojeh  Eggplant freak that I am, I almost always end up ordering Bademjoon when I dine in Persian restaurants. Last year I ordered Bademjoon but found it a bit redundant as there was Bademjoon already in the Umami Platter. This time I defied the norm and ordered the Vegan Ghormeh Sabzi. Got my Bademjoon fix from the Umami Platter! Everything was delicious and I loved the Vegan Ghormeh Sabzi. It was a nice change of pace for me, and the portion of food put on my plate was quite reasonable. I managed to finish everything on my plate and left feeling full but not ridiculously full.  Umami Platter is an absolute must at this restaurant! You get to try so many different flavors with this platter.  I would recommend going to this restaurant with at least three other people so that you'll have help with eating the platter and will still be able to order an entree for yourself.  Service:   Good Parking:   Free parking on the street Location: 12051 Third Ave., Richmond, BC

Yelp
Would I travel again from Vancouver to Richmond for a $25 Loghmeh dish? Yes, I would. Here's why. I loved every single item on my plate. The Lamb/Beef "Loghmeh" was superb. It was served right off the grill so it was hot. The way dishes are meant to be served. You'd be surprised how many times I've been served hot dishes luke warm. It was juicy, tender, well seasoned and buttery....quality Persian kabob (see pic.) Now the Rice....also done correctly (see pic.) There was also a side portion of salad which I loved. It was pickled cabbage with lettuce and a creamy dill dressing and fresh onion served separately. The savoury taste of the lamb/beef paired perfectly with the citrusy aftertaste of the pickled cabbage finished with a creamy dill sauce. The outdoor patio on that day was heavenly with the sun shining in beautiful Steveston, Richmond. I also appreciated the personal care they took for their patio with tastefully decorated plants and flowers and conveniently enough there was a Whole Foods right across the street. So, here's another observation: A lot of Persian restaurants serve their dishes with hefty portions and I usually have left overs and the quality, even if good, has rarely been great. But, with Anar.....the portion was slightly smaller but the quality and taste was superb. That difference stood out. The service might no have been Fine Dining but it was genuine and personal. What came across for me was that these people were happy to have you as their guest, and appreciated your support....as a diner...what else could you ask for?

Yelp
Finally had the chance to try this new persian place which opened in my hood. We all had a blast. Everything was great. Food was delish. The longmeh kebabs were succulent and juicy...the chicken kebabs were roasted perfectly and not dry. The timing was impeccable. Next, the salads were fresh and the welcome Drink with chia seeds and rosewater so refreshing. The bread was baked with precision timing. Nice crust but soft and just hd enough air inside. The sprinkled rock salt in top added a sublime salty texture to the bread. You cant stop eating once you start. Dip it in humus, and you Got a great thing going on. The saffron rice was also amazing. Nicely cooked and had the right amount of moisture to keep the grains soft but firm. Wasnt a fan of the falafel...felt it was over fried and a bit dry. But the humus /olive dressing was great. The dessert is quite unique. Love the use of rose water again which was frozen into the ice, then topped with persian ice cream and some vermicelli ( for me was out of place.) . Had belly dancing too for the yelpers and what a treat it was. Nice food, music, and company. Cant ask for anything more. Service- Quick and efficient and service with a smile. I live close so gonna be a regular here for sure. Cheers! Happy eating and more power to yelp!

Yelp
We decided to break from our tradition of eating Chinese food in Richmond and try out this Persian restaurant and were so glad we did. The owner welcomed us with a big smile and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. We ordered Mirza Ghasemi (Eggplant appetizer that comes with two pieces of bread), Fesenjoon Chicken, Ghormeh Sabzi Beef and Loughmeh Kabob. Everything was delicious but we especially loved the Fesenjoon. The pomegranate added a tartness that was so yummy, the chicken was very tender and the grounded walnut made the stew have a very unique texture. We are already craving it again. The owner said it takes 6 hours to make. She checked on us several times and made sure we had a great exeprience.

Yelp
Goodness gracious each bite had me singing in Farsi & I had to control myself from dancing at the table! Yes Yelpies - that delicious! #yummylicious galore #eathereasap. It's so hard to be - savoir faire - when the food is sooooooooooo yummy good. I make an uncontrollable fool of myself - good thing none of you were around. Ha! So awesome to see the owner Tilas beautiful smile again. Hadn't been back here since late 2019 when I attended a Yelp event - to my shame! If you're not sure what to try - just ask her! The lunch specials are a great way to immerse oneself into a taste of Iranian food. Anar Persian Cuisine is located in the very popular Steveston Village. Yelpies it gets very busy here in the village on weekends & will only get busier as summer approaches. So plan accordingly or you will be parking quite a ways from your intended position. This spot used to be an old court house from way back in the day aka 100 years ago. So don't worry, you won't be confined to court session if you still have outstanding traffic violations. Come to Anar to chow down on the most delicious Iranian food this side of the Middle East. My Chicken Curry was pure excellence - taste, presentation, sensation in my mouth = I absolutely wanted more. The rice was amazing (I'm not a rice fan believe it or not) but hands down this was a very well seasoned dish which had me - oohing & aahing in pure delight! The Loughmeh Kabob (beef & lamb) is a must try! I can't wait to get back here. Anar is truly a hidden gem in historic Steveston Village (see my review) so get here soon!

Yelp
Decided to try this spot out and it was super good. The service was amazing, everyone was so nice and welcoming. The food was great as well. I'd recommend just getting Mirza Ghasemi, it was SO delicious. You have to get the extra bread with it. I also liked their sampler plate, but I think it would be more worth to order the individual items next time. The baklava was also quite yummy, the presentation was spot on.

Yelp
Growing up on the North Shore, we had our picks of good Persian restaurants. Finding one in the Vancouver area was a bit harder until now. Was in Richmond today and finally decided to do a take out at Anar in Steveston. Anar's food is delicious and authentic. Probably the best Persian food I have tasted in a very long time and will certainly be back. Ordered by phone and was informed pick up would be ready in 15 mins: Kashk a Bademjoon ($8.99): grilled eggplant and turmeric mixed with whey and mint and served with light and fluffy Persian bread. The grill aroma on the eggplant was amazing and the mint popped with each bit. Perfectly balance with turmeric for the golden yellow colour and olive oil. Loghmeh Kabob ($17.99): two skewers of seasoned mixed beef and lamb and served with rice and tomato. Perfectly seasoned and grilled. The rice was light and fluffy and so addicting. Due to health orders, the dining room is closed but they have a small patio with 4-5 tables. On a sunny day, you can do a take out and hit up the near by Garry Point Park or Fisherman's Wharf.

Yelp
This little cozy restaurant reminded me of home. The food was amazing and delicious. The decoration ( traditional to Iran) was nice. We ordered logmeh kabab, doogh, vaziri, baglava, and Persian tea. Everything was great and our party enjoyed the food and environment. Tila was our server which treated us as if we were her guests. I do not live in the area, but if I travel to BC, I would definitely come here.

Yelp
The food is really awesome! All menu is home made food ( even dessert ) A bit pricy tho but worth giving it a try once a while!!!

Yelp
Another superb meal at Anar. The parking was perfect (Right in front). The service was on point. She is so friendly and helpful. The kebabs were succulent and done to perfection. What else can I say, DELICIOUS!

Yelp
Before trying Anar, I didn't really have much experience with Persian food as there aren't too many options in Richmond but I'm so glad that Anar decided to open up close to home! Anar is situated in the historical Steveston Village, right across from Save-On-Foods. The restaurant is relatively small, but they have a decently sized patio at the front that's usually reserved so make sure you reserve in advance! I highly recommend their appetizer platter, which is full of delicious Persian dips and comes with their amazing homemade flatbread. We also love the chicken curry rice and lamb shank, which is extremely tender and falls off the bone!
google avatar

Merlion In Vancouver ..

Yelp
Very good food and cooked well. I want to say its near authentic, but I am not Persian. The food was tasty, both the lamb shank and the kebobs dish. The meat was succulent and the portion sizes were more than adequate. The service was excellent even though there was only one server. I will recommend this place most willingly.

Yelp
We travelled from Seattle to Vancouver for a day trip. Stopped by this place to grab some late lunch. We ordered a yogurt drink (yogurt, water, salt, mint). What we got was incredibly watery. We had this before and it didn't have this much water. Not sure which one is the original version but we liked the less watery one. The kebab was OK. The pomegranate reduction chicken was not good. It had two big pieces of chicken breast in it and there was NO flavor. The rice also had no smell. I know Persian rice smells incredibly good so this was a miss too. Service was good and people were friendly. But the food is meh.

Yelp
First time eating Persian food. Why did I wait the food and flavour all amazing. Service was excellent and all of us enjoyed our different menu items. Would recommend whenever you are hungry. Amazing food! Thank you for introducing me to Persian food. Loved it.
google avatar

Jacq L.

Yelp
Worth the wait because the food is delicious! Small restaurant that offers 5 outdoor tables (1 of which is a large table that can seat 6). Spacing between the small tables are fairly good distanced and cleaning is done between customers. Staff is nice but busy as she is taking orders thru phone, playing cashier, taking order and serving food at the patio and clearing dishes and wiping tables (If you are in no rush it's not so bad) Hubby craved some Persian food so we went to Anar, they have opened for a while now and have kept up with their quality throughout this time during the pandemic. As lunch we ordered the beef/lamb kabob served with rice and salad. The kabob is juicy and flavourful. The mix of beef and lamb is a great combo if you like the texture of ground beef with a hint of lamb in the end of your bite, their seasoning never overpower so you can taste the meat. Saffron rice is perfect pair with the kabob. Salad was with just the right amount of dressing (not for anyone that don't like pickled item in their salad). Although they are not giant portions but they are definitely not stingy! I also order their lemonade, very refreshing with the mint and added chai seeds. As usual, we finished our lunch with Bastani Faloddah, a shaved ice dessert that consisted rose water and honey and topped with their ice cream, the aroma of the dessert will linger in your mouth for a while. Only reason for 4 star is hand sanitizer is not provided upon entering. Tables were wiped but not chairs, the menu is outside on a music stand where anyone walk by can flip (nice gesture) but not at this time where COVID can be spread as I did not see disinfecting of the menu during the duration of my stay. Bottom line isI would still be going back and order from Anar :)

Yelp
If you're ever craving Persian/Iranian/Middle Eastern cuisine, you need to visit Anar. Located in a cute heritage building in the Steveston Village, this spot can be easily missed if you don't know the area well. Let me tell you, I want everybody to know about this spot because everything about this place is ah-mazing. Tila, the owner, is the one-woman superstar behind this business. She's out there in the kitchen, serving, bussing, basically doing it all with a huge smile on her face. Their menu consists of a variety of authentic Persian cuisine - everything from kebabs to rice platters and more. Their rice is topped with saffron (a popular spice among Persian dishes) and it's everything I didn't know I needed. I've tried their kebabs, mizra ghasmi (grilled spicy eggpant served w/ Persian bread), falafel appetizer, and adasi soup. When I say that every single thing I've tried is amazing - I mean that. Everything from the meats, to the salads, to the rice, to the sauces, spices, and flavours... everything is impeccable. You can tell that everything is made with the best ingredients and is made with an authentic touch. Guaranteed anything you get, you'll love as well. I've been telling all my friends about this place since I first discovered it. Anar is my favourite Persian restaurant in the city. I dare you to change my mind.

Yelp
Anar - Persian food in Steveston A must try if you're looking to explore a new restaurant! It feels like you're at someone's home! I felt the need to take off my shoes but it's no worry at all! They take reservation! Lamb Shank 10/10 It literally falls off the bone and the marinade is delicious its like a tomato base I think! It comes with a lot of sauce and goes perfectly with rice! Falafel 8/10 $12 super delicious but I'm pretty not a huge fan so I won't get it again. It is definitely worth trying but I think I need to go through the whole menu before I circle back to falafel. Vegetarian platter (x2) 10/10 INCREDIBLE, couldn't find it on their online menu but you literally get a sample of everything. Their hummus is to DIE FOR. You get a huge sample of all their appetizers including: falafel, hummus dolmeh barg, spinach borani, mast o m khyr red sauce (super good but idk what it was). I really enjoyed the dolmeh barg, it reminds me of Kashiwa Mochi with the oak leaf or chinese sticky rice (if you ate the leaf wrapper). We ordered 2 of them and they were delicious and perfect for 4 people. The bread is so fluffy and delicious! Has sesame seeds on it and perfectly soft too. Goes so well with the platter! Baklava 7/10 $7 - it tastes like soap but delicious soup but tastes super strong due to the rose flavour. Shockingly juicy with rose water but flaky! If you haven't tried it before, I would recommend it but I won't get it again just because it's pretty sweet. Totally worth trying once though!

Yelp
My partner and I went back to Anar again the other day (second time). This place is a real gem! The owner (Tila) remembered us right away and even remembered that my partner is vegan. She remembered what we ordered! That says a lot when you consider how many customers she's had since we were there last. She's super friendly and laid back. Warm, wonderful service! Again, the food was amazing! The presentation is beautiful. You might find yourself taking some pics of your dishes. We plan to return soon, this time for dinner (both visits so far have been lunch). We particularly appreciate family run businesses. Tila, thanks again for the great food, service and atmosphere - a really great vibe overall!

Yelp
This Persian gem doesn't seem to belong in this President Plaza food court. They have decorated their place very nicely; however, the other vendors in the food court are the complete opposite. The food court itself was also very old and unclean. We went on a Friday night during dinner time and the food court was pretty much deserted. There were only 4 vendors who were still open. We ordered one chicken curry and the Chenjeh soltani. The chicken curry didn't look like the one that was in the picture they had. It came out more like a fried rice style (see my picture). This curry was actually very delicious. You will find little bits of pomegranate in the dish and was very fragrant. I'm never a fan of chicken breast and found the chicken in the dish too dry and hard. It also didn't soak the curry fragrance in. The Chenjeh soltani came with two skewers, and we chose half rice and half salad. The lamb skewer was very delicious and tender. After spending close to $30, we were still quite hungry after our meal. We then went to McDonald's to share a combo. Therefore, while the food was absolutely delicious, the prices were pretty high for food court food. If they had given a bit more in terms of the portion, then I'd have given them a 5 star review.

Yelp
I have been meaning to write a review, where I thought I wrote one a long time ago when this place was located in a Chinese food court, and in the back with barely any lighting.... gone are those times of yesteryear and now they actually have a sit down restaurant. I was fortunate on being re-introduced to this place through Yelp through an event, and after showing my wife some pictures of that night have come back a few times and everytime and every plate we have had here as far exceeded our expectations. One thing going with this place is true heart from the owner Tila, she remembers you, from whenever you have come before, and really gives you that warm sense of welcoming you to her place and showing you the foods she has to offer. Whether you are going with really knowing what you really want, or not, just know they have you covered. The last time being here my wife was all knowing as to what she was going to have, and know that we were here a week prior to this, I had no idea, so after being greeted by Tila I just said surprise me, and really everything is amazingly tasty, even better than when they were in the food court (and frankly, it was really good over there!). And reading some older reviews here, don't worry, they have their kabob's back (had that the prior dinner here)! I have had a chicken and rice dish I seem to not be able to find on their menu (I will attach the picture), to my wife's vegetarian meal (which was done just right), to all the other things we have tried here, and would eat again, if you are in this area, or if you want something different and just good, make the trip and you might want to call for a reservation. Another thing that was introduced to us by Tila was the Persian ice cream, best way to finish the night, regardless of season, hints of pistachio and rose water, not too sweet, a light refresher, this has also become a must have for my wife and I. This place has become a favorite and a worthwhile destination as we always leave happy, and somehow we always take food home, as the portions are very fair, yet we are always saving room to try a little more everytime. I hope to come back here soon in the new year, but if you are looking for Persian food (yes, Metro Vancouver... you know you don't have much choice) and you want good food in general, come here to this little heritage building and you will be made a fan of the food and the people here.

Yelp
Located at President's Plaza, which is a mall nobody goes to, except old Asians. It used to have a T&T downstairs, which now eSPOT has moved into, so hopefully this place can get more recognition from the young people. It is in the upstairs food court which is really small, and it is the only one that is open later than the others. The cook lady is very nice, as is the cashier lady. Be sure to return their cutlery because that is theirs, not the mall's. I bought a groupon for this place for two Kubideh meals, which is the standard minced beef skewers, salad, rice and a side. We chose Kashke Bademjan (my fav from other Persian restaurants aka eggplant dip) and another eggplant side - Mirza Ghasemi. We also ordered the chicken curry. They said normally the meals come with two skewers, but the pictures on the wall only show one skewer so I wasn't sure. If that is true, then the groupon did not mention I'd be getting less than regular. Anyways, I ordered an extra skewer. They had the best salad sauce ever and gave plenty of salad. Kubideh was okay. I can't really say because I prefer other skewers normally (I will definitely come back to try the lamb skewers) Rice is good - lots of saffron rice on top. The chicken curry for some reason was mixed into the rice even though the picture shows them separate, so I'm not sure there. Price-wise... if what they said was true and that normal orders come with 2 skewers, then it is a very good deal for Persian cuisine. Normally 2 kubideh skewers with rice and salad is $15 at a restaurant and here is it is $11. Again.. if it is only one skewer as their picture shows, then it's just regular priced. Although it is not positioned in the greatest place to get lots of customers, I do hope that more Asian people come and try out other cuisines. It is also nice to have a Persian place to eat so I don't have to go downtown to get some.

Yelp
The food is decent but there seemed to be too many shortcuts that spoiled the meal. The biggest issue was how can they serve canned typed olives compared to an authentic middle eastern olive type you would expect in a restaurant like this They seemed to avoid using fresh herbs in the starter dishes, and those were not complimentary either like they traditionally have been in most Persian restaurants. The side salad dressing also seemed unauthentic. Deserts were underwhelming, but the tea service with the date was nice. They still didn't seem to want to refill the tea too much. Not sure what that logic was. Otherwise service was generally good and the atmosphere was over warm in the small restaurant.

Yelp
I am a lover of Persian food and have traveled far and wide in Vancouver for a good kubideh. Now, I'm so glad that I've found a great place to have it in Richmond. This hidden gem is the anomaly in a Chinese-centric food court at President's Plaza. All the items are clearly displayed on large boards around the counter with photos and the (outdated price - $1 for accuracy). The lady at the counter was super friendly and we had a nice chat while I waited for my food. I ordered the kudibeh with half rice and half salad to go. I was pleasantly surprised by the large portions and the salad wasn't just the average sad-looking lettuce leaves you usually get, but were fresh greens with a great dressing. The kubideh was very flavourful and the saffron rice was so delicious. Another plus, they accept credit cards through Square, a pleasant surprise. I will definitely come again whenever I crave some Persian food, which is every week basically. Can't wait to try their other items.

Yelp
OK I love the new location and the food is still as good as it ever was. Best of all it's not in the corner of some dilapidated Chinese Food Court. This brother and sister duo is running this place with the part time help of their sister and that's it. They just opened this new location and sadly haven't been able to get their kabobs on the menu because of city permits. Anyone smart person who knows how that is run will understand that it can take a long time..... So I'm patiently waiting because I know it is worth it. But having said that, they're open and running and they have a lot of their famous stewed items on the menu which are all terrific. I love coming down to try something new. It can be a bit hectic because it's just the two of them (sometimes 3) and they're looking to hire more staff so they can service their loyal customers better. The only thing that ticks me is a crappy fake review about the fact that they don't have the kabobs yet and they claim it as false advertising because it's shown on their sandwich board and old website and old Yelp pictures. Hello? Anyways any smart reader on Yelp will simply pass those on as crap Yelpers and check out the real reviews written by real people. Which this restaurant has lots of great reviews from their old location and now this location. What was amazing that when we were there, all the customers were happy, a lot of the regulars that came by even to say hello! This is a tight knit community and I'm rooting for them. I wish them much success in this town and hope that you readers will come and say hello to them and try out their food. Leave the fake reviews behind and just try the food. One day they'll get the Kababs with the Kubideh and you'll love that too.

Yelp
ANAR, what do I say. No matter what I say, or how much ever I say, every word is going to fall short. Right from the food, the service, the hospitality everything was spot on. Even during this difficult times of COVID-19 where every business got affected, especially local businesses, it's very difficult to accommodate the customer and at the same time maintain safety protocols. Without us booking the table they were very generous to get us a table as quickly as they can. Eating at "ANAR" has really made me and my family a big fan of Persian cuisine. Right from starters to desert every thing was perfectly presented and taste was unforgettable. We ended up ordering desert twice just to keep the taste alive till next time.. Yelp
The food presentation caught my eye as they served food. Attaching my pics for reference. I like the taste and fresh bread. This family restaurant is now my favorite. Thank you for bringing Persian authentic food to this place. No rush service. Just sit and relax place. Outside it looks like a house. Overall I'm a happy customer! Good job team Anar

Yelp
Have you had your Kubideh? You're missing out if you don't know what it is. Premium Beef and Lamb skewers with a serving of fluffy basmati and saffron rice, grilled tomato, salad, and pickled cabbage, olives, and mini pickles A hearty meal that makes you feel good on the inside. Iranian food at this special gem in town. Nicely charred edges all over the skewers and tomato, added a layer of flavour and texture (not burnt!), which I adore Mixed with chopped onion and herbs/spices, the tasty skewers were moist and gave a good bite without being too mushy (being grounded meat afterall). The fluffy bed of basmati and saffron rice were airy and very comforting! Sounds obvious, but it was quite the perfect match with the skewers without feeling overstuffed The grilled tomato was quite sweet (in tomato's sense), and adds a nice citrus/acidic balance to my protein. I'd recommend getting a side of salad too because the acidic/citrusy from the pickles would balance out your palate quite nicely, if the tomato itself isn't enough. To complete my meal, I also got a Doogh - it's a traditional cold yogurt Persian beverage that is mixed with sea salt. Being my adventurous self, I chose the traditional flavour (over minty/fruity). A very tart taste, as the bottle suggested, but I quite like it. It grows on me after each sip. Some might find this to give a very unique taste but it is a bit like drinking non-alcoholic beers, if that is a fair comparison. Carbonated water, mixed with yogurt and sea salt. Very interesting. AnAr has impressed me with their food a while ago on my first. Down to earth, of quality, and tasting very original and homey. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, and gave me good recommendation on food, condiments, and beverage Good news, to me at least, AnAr will be moving to Steveston, and I am certainly encouraged to visit more often then. There're so many items on the menu I have yet to try

Yelp
This place is amazing! Don't be put off by it being in a food court into the President Plaza. Came here on our way to Vancouver and had to stop again as we went back to US. Great flavors to everything, cooked just right and the customer service is great. They really go out their way to help you deciding because it all looks good. They gave us sample just of a yogurt drink (carbonated or not) which was different but still good. Great conversation and both times we got there as they were about to close and they still cooked when all the others closed down. A must go to place, don't let location fool you.

Yelp
Good food. Good price. Fast service. Food is as advertised. Not too spicy but it is flavourful.

Yelp
Was looking for lunch options and found this through Yelp. It's located inside the food court at President Plaza (beside Radisson Hotel). There is lots of free parking outside the plaza. The Lamb Shank ($14) is so comforting, so fragrant, and so so soft and buttery. It comes with lots of sauce to eat with the dill rice. Lamb kebob ($13) is equally as amazing. The meat was soft, juicy and very well spiced. The kebob meal comes with salad and regular rice. I normally don't eat at food courts, but I would repeat this meal over and over again. They also have catering available. Taste: 5/5 Service: n/a (food court) Value: 5/5

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise in the hugely dominated Asian area to have this gem in a small food court! This place is located in President's Plaza (next to Radisson Hotel). The food court is small, maybe 10 vendors, and this is the only non-Asian stall. We ordered the chicken kabob, lamb shank, herbal stew and a side of dill rice. The standout dishes were the lamb shank and the herbal stew (lamb and kidney beans cooked in various spices). The lamb shank was falloff the bone delicious! The herbal stew was such a pleasant surprise and very flavorful so much so that we ate the plate clean as a whistle! The chicken kabob was alright (I just think I had chicken too much lately lol). The dill rice was nice and buttery and cooked with what seemed like fresh and not frozen fava beans. There's a reason why this place does so well! Will def be back!

Yelp
Stumbled across this gem while spending the night at Pacific Gateway Hotel after a fortnight cruise. We were completely tired of fish and steak and, somehow, Persian food sprung to mind. A quick search took me to Anar. While the reviews were stellar, my girlfriend wasn't keen on going to a food court. Another reviewer addressed that topic head-on saying that it doesn't matter - just to go. He was absolutely right. Dispense with the notion of a typical US-style food court with 30 different choices. This is a small food court with half a dozen Asian options, plus Anar. The hummus was delicious and refreshingly tasty - nothing like the bland stuff you get at Costco. The ground lamb kabob and chicken kabobs were moist, hot, well-sized, and delicious. The accompanying salad was delicious and, as odd as it is to mention rice, it is worth highlighting too - flavorful, and hot! Too often, rice strikes me as having sat around for the better part of the day and is treated as an incidental accompaniment. My only regret is that, due to living in Denver, I can't make this place my regular!

Yelp
We decided to try this restaurant because of support local BC. I am so glad we did! I love middle eastern food (thanks to my mother being Turkish). The service was awesome, decor was so cute inside and the food was delicious! We had the falafel to start and it is house made and perfectly fried. It comes with salad (dressing is to die for!!) and hummus and fresh bread. We had the Chicken curry which is a baryani and Chanjeh kebob. Chicken was flavourful and not dry, rice perfectly cooked. This dish had some heat but just the right amount. The Chanjeh is a beef tenderloin, perfectly cooked and great flavour. We finished our meal with the Persian ice cream (pistachio, rosewater & saffron) along with housemade baklava. It was perfect! I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Always fantastic food and service. Best hummus I've ever had. Great lager on tap and decent wine list. The dip and kabob platters have variety and are very generous. The homemade baklava is worth going back for..

Yelp
A couple of friends and I had a wonderful lunch at Anar Restaurant in Steveston. Tila, the owner, welcomed us with Persian tea and stuffed dates, and made suggestions from the menu. We ended up ordering the Umami Platter (a bit of everything) to start, then split a couple of entrees including Ghaymeh Bademjoon, a delicious dish made with lamb, split peas and eggplant. Tila even offered some (very hot!) home made hot sauce to accompany the dishes. Every bite was full of flavour, and our visit to Anar Restaurant could not have been better. We will definitely visit again!
