Had an incredible dinner at Anatolian Bistro and everything was outstanding! The whole grilled branzino was fresh, flaky, and perfectly charred, served with a vibrant shepherd salad and grilled veggies. Loved the spicy chicken ,crispy, tangy, and nicely hot, balanced perfectly with the yogurt dip. The lamb liver kebab was tender, juicy, and packed with smoky flavor alongside grilled potatoes and veggies. Authentic Turkish cuisine at its best, warm hospitality, and cozy vibe. One of the top spots in Virginia—highly recommend!

A few days ago, we went to Anatolian Bistro to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and everything was wonderful. The food and the table reserved for us were amazing. The mezes were by far the best I’ve had in this area — truly outstanding. We’re already planning to come back one day with friends just to order a table full of mezes and enjoy a long, relaxed meal. My favorite main dish was the Begendili Lamb (Tandır Kebab was also mind-blowing) — it was light, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. On a previous visit, I tried the pumpkin dessert, and it is a MUST-TRY! Highly recommended.

I was there last night and ordered almost everything on the menu, and every single dish was absolutely delicious. The flavors were authentic, well-balanced, and clearly prepared with great care. From the appetizers to the main courses, everything exceeded my expectations. Anatolian Bistro truly delivers high-quality food, and I will definitely be coming back again. Highly recommended.

Loved this place. Authentic Turkish flavors from start to finish. The shrimp casserole was incredible, and the rice pudding’s aroma was absolutely amazing. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. Highly recommend and definitely coming back.

I had an amazing experience here! I ordered the beğendili lamb and it was absolutely delicious — tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The presentation was beautiful too. The staff were very kind and attentive, and the atmosphere felt warm and authentic. Definitely one of the best meals I’ve had lately — highly recommend this place!

We ordered the Karışık Grill and had the chance to try everything. The tandır and the lamb chops were definitely my favorites. After the meal, we tried the tahini pumpkin dessert, and it was absolutely incredible and the best pumpkin desert in the US. Their wine menu — especially the selection of Turkish wines — perfectly matched the authentic atmosphere of the place. Thank you for your warm hospitality. Highly recommended!

Fabulous little tucked away place. Everything was delicious. We shared the appetizers and they were fantastic. I got the lamp chops and my hubby got the mixed grill plate. Friendly people and great food and service. I'd say we'd be back but we don't live in the state. If we did, we'd be here in a heartbeat.

Great prices and really flavorful dishes. The turkish coffee was very good and strong. The Dolma starter was not my favorite but the Adana Kebab lunch was exceptional. The service was friendly and fast. I would definitely go back if I am in the area.

Genuinely speechless at $20 for Lamb Shish Kebab. The food is cold and it isn't cooked properly. I'm so sad. I had heard such good things about this place and am not sure if they meant the wrong location.

For many times, I have been to this place and tried their most of the menu items. They use / prepare everything fresh and the waitstaff always attentive. The ambiance is not holiday season which mostly red that gives soooo much energy. Yesterday night , we had Arnavut liver, İskender kebab for entrees and for dessert of course you can't miss their homemade Kazandibi which is like a milky pudding and homemade baklava with Turkish tea. All were tasty and authentic. Never been disappointed with my visits. Thanks again.

This restaurant, highly recommended by Tom Siestema and a Turkish friend, is in the Worldgate Shopping Center. This means ample parking and easy to get to. They start with warm sesame-crusted bread with olive oil. I didn't want to fill up so I only had one piece. On my friend's recommendation, I ordered the bronzino. They serve it whole or filleted - I chose the latter. It was $29 for delicate, mild fish, zucchini & squash, and cucumber/tomato salad. I really enjoyed the fish as it was fresh and cooked perfectly. I had the kunefe for dessert. It was $12. It's described as "shredded dough and special cheese in the middle and served with the homemade syrup, topped with pistachio". It was interesting (feel of melted cheese with shredded wheat type stuff on top); but I would order something else for dessert next time. My friend had wine she really liked and Anatolian mix grill with lamb. She said it was delicious. She had the kazandibi (pudding) for dessert. Based on my taste, I think this would be my dessert choice next time. The service was fantastic- attentive without being overbearing. We will definitely return.

First time here and first time at a Turkish Restaurant. One of the best meals I've had in a long time. Had the Anatolian Mix Grill with Chicken Adana and the Baklava for desert. Nice ambience, great service. Highly recommended. I'll be back!

Service and food were great. The menu has many Turkish verities. And their appetizers are delicious. Specially Baba Ganosh.

The chef cooks a perfect medium rare lamb shish kebab and they pair it with a fantastic rice and roasted veggies. I highly recommend the falafel and the fresh bread to start. I loved the purple Turkish wine I tried and it went great with the lamb. And when in turkey.. you have to get some Turkish coffee and Baklava for desert. Believe me! They will not disappoint. I was impressed by the attentive service of the staff and personal touch the owner brought to experience. After a long day of work the understated calm ambience of the restaurant was perfect to focus on an amazing culinary experience.

Well...I finally got my husband to try Turkish food. He had spent some time in Turkey as part of his stint in the Army. Yet, while there, he never tried the local food. I had tried Turkish food when a friend and I went to Turcuisine which was the predecessor to Anatolian Bistro. One vestige of the former restaurant remains---and that is the large photographic mural of Istanbul. Recently, I had my husband take a look at their menu. Once he did that, he was on board with trying it. We were here on a Saturday around 5 p.m. At that time of day, there were only two occupied tables. That, of course, changed as the evening progressed. Our waiter was the one who also greeted and seated us plus gave us menus. My husband had red lentil soup as a starter. I just stuck to the bread basket that was given to us. The bread was warm and fresh plus it came with an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dipping sauce. I tasted some of the red lentil soup and while the lentil flavor was obvious, the soup itself was on the bland side. It comes with a lemon wedge which my husband used to add juice. He said it didn't help much. For the main course, my husband ordered "Lamb Chops" which consists of: "Marinated lamb chops grilled to your perfection served with rice pilaf and grilled vegetables". This dish comes with 4 small lamb chops that have been Frenched (for those who aren't familiar with this preparation---the majority of the fat has been trimmed off with the rib bone exposed and cleaned). In addition to the pilaf, there were a few veggies (very few) ---3 broccoli florets, one small wedge of onion and part of a green pepper. He raved about his chops saying they were perfectly prepared (he ordered them medium). In fact, he ended up gnawing on the bones. Like me, he liked the pilaf as it was moist and flavorful. The side ingredients were such that the chops were the star of the show. I ordered "Beef Filet Mignon Shish" which consists of: "1/2 lb Charcoal grilled tender chunks of Fillet Mignon skewered and served with rice and vegetables ". I ordered the beef cooked medium and it was perfectly prepared---very tender, well seasoned and flavorful. Again, the veggie portion was stingy --- one tomato wedge, one onion wedge and a tiny piece of green pepper. As previously mentioned, the pilaf was quite good. We still had room for dessert so we both ordered baklava. They make their baklava fresh daily. I grew up eating baklava made from scratch by my grandmother and great-aunt so I'm picky when it comes to baklava. This baklava was awesome! It wasn't overly sweet and the pistachio filling provided nice flavor. I let one of the servers know that their baklava compared quite favorably to what I ate growing up. She said she would let them (the ones that made it) know. My husband tried some Turkish coffee for the first time. He liked it and said he'd have it again. There is one thing to keep in mind when dining here --- If you want a decent portion of veggies, I would suggest ordering a salad, which I plan to do next time. Otherwise, a great experience from start to finish.

Stopped by this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Admittedly I don't know a ton about Turkish/Mediterranean cuisine but I like trying new things. I really liked the tanginess of the Yayla Turkish Yogurt soup. The red lentil soup came highly recommended but I was more impressed with the yayla soup. The manti dumplings were delicious too. Was also delighted by the Kazandibi pudding which had a stiffer consistency than I was expecting. When looking up the recipe online it seems like it might have shredded chicken breast in it which is interesting. Google maps took us behind the Marriott parking lot but it seems like there is more direct access to the parking lot from the street that doesn't require as much winding navigation. There is also parking both above and below ground in the ramp. Service was friendly and I appreciated how our server helped me learn the proper pronunciation of the dishes. It was on the pricier side so I would keep this place in mind for special occasions.

The food was good. Fresh and regional. The restaurant was nice, and we went as a group, which didn't phase the servers, who were as nice as could be.

If you're looking for some flavorful Turkish food then I would highly recommend Anatolian Bistro. The staff is friendly, the food is great and the only downside is the restaurant is a little small so call ahead and parking can be a bit difficult but that's not the restaurants fault. They also have outdoor seating for the summertime and a good selection of wine! Yes, they have a full bar as well :)

When you are in the process of relocating you are also in the quest to find a place where the food hits the spot. This was the place for me during my visit. Looking forward in coming again. I got their signature vegetarian dish, a hot appetizer( Patlican Kizartma) and baklava. It was very satisfying and filling... I rarely do three course meal but my curiosity gave in and my weakness for baklava well you know I can say no to it whenever I see as an option just to try their version. Theirs, was not overly sweet. Ut perfectly balanced.

Exceeded expectations! Food, service and ambiance were great. Certainly a gem for Turkish food in a sleepy mall in Herndon.

Authentic Turkish food. Indoor and outdoor seating. Nice decor and comfortable tables. I had the cheese plate which was two types of cheese - crumbly feta and soft cheese. Bread came with the meal. Turkish wine was impressively full Bodied and fruit flavored without being too sweet. I came at the end of the day. Couldn't partake in the desserts which looked great. Lots of potential.

Excellent and friendly service with elegant ambiance. My husband and I shared the mixed platter. A great way to sample Turkish food. Every dish was perfect. The rice pudding was just right in flavour not rich or to sweet. We most definitely will be bring our family and friends.

Went for a late-ish dinner a few months back after my wife and I landed in Dulles -- were super hungry after flying back from Reykjavik and wanted something near both the airport and our hotel. We love Turkish food and the menu looked great so we stopped in just a few minutes before closing. Service was fantastic and everyone was super nice. The owner came up at the end to talk with us about his life in Turkey. As to the food: 1. Vegetarian sampler -- delicious baba ghanoush, solid hummus, great grape leaves, amazing ezme (peppers, tomatoes, onions and spices) and some nice feta cheese. My wife liked the borek too though it was a bit greasy. Overall totally delicious and a good value; 2. Iskender kebab -- delicious Doner meat with great yogurt and tomato sauces. One of the best version I've ever tried And 3. Tektas spicy chicken -- some of the best grilled chicken I've ever had alongside rice pilaf and a great side salad. I loved that it was actually assertively spicy *and* had some grilled jalapeños on the side to amp things up even more. Absolutely delicious. Overall I will definitely be back if I'm near Dulles or visiting my wife's family in northern Virginia.

Great Turkish/Middle Eastern fare, but warning.... Portions are very small. Both the hummus & Babaganoujh were excellent, and the homemade pita was really very good. I used to live in Brooklyn's Heights section, around the corner from Zahadi's Pita Bread factory, so I KNOW good Middle Eastern food. Was disappointed that their sampler appetizer for 2 didn't include more salad items, and the pita was cut in small triangles. Too many tiny pieces. Gimme the round, & lemme tear it myself! Otherwise... delicious food!

My first experience in a Turkish restaurant.... Wow! Incredible food, great drinks, wonderful staff, and a chill atmosphere. Really enjoyed me experience here and will return the next time I'm in town.

Time: About 10 minutes from the time I ordered to the time the food was served. Quality: The food was definitely fresh. Quantity: Just about right (no room for dessert). Vibes: very authentic but classy with a friendly staff (Tashakorat). First date: Definitely, but only if your date into Mediterranean food. Overall: great place for dinner date and relaxing.

So yummy! We had the mezze trio, the branzino, and lamb kebabs with excellent Turkish wine. We shared the kunefe dessert which was amazing. The restaurant is small, but very cozy and the service was great. The definition of a "hidden gem" strip mall restaurant. We will certainly be back!

This restaurant has been on my radar for a while and it did not disappoint. In the restaurant biz you talk about QSC - quality, service and cleanliness - this place nailed all three. The food was yummy - I had the Anatolian mixed grill with lamb with plenty to take home along with the kazandibi pudding which was great. Our server was excellent - attentive but not overly so - he recommended a fabulous Cabernet from Turkey when asked. And the place was very clean, including the restroom and hallway to the restroom - a lack of paper towels in the ladies room was addressed immediately. I will definitely be going back - highly recommend.

Go for the delicious authentic Turkish food, the experience, and the friendly family staff. We love this place. For lunch today, we had the best restaurant salmon we have ever eaten. The large piece we were served was cut by hand in the restaurant and served perfectly cooked, moist, and seasoned. The large platter had perfect rice, steamed broccoli, grilled onion, pepper, and tomato. We shared it and had enough. The red lentil soup is sooooo delicious. The first time we had it, I actually went to a store and bought red lentils for the first time. I could not come close to duplicating the recipe at home. The MUCVER, Turkish zucchini pancakes were delicious and filling. The bread is made daily and comes out of the oven covered with delicious seeds. It is served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. This family restaurant in Worldgate shows that the American dream is alive and well. Thank goodness. I felt like I was eating in a great restaurant in Turkey, only with better food, right here in Herndon. Who knew? Now you do.

Pleasantly surprising. A family member took me here for the Turkish breakfast on a Sunday morning. I liked their simit a lot, breakfast plate was big. They brought menemen separately. Usually Turkish restaurants suck at cooking menemen, which is arguably a basic skill. This restaurant doesn't, their menemen was very good (and huge). My experience was a Sunday morning, the restaurant was very loud with families & kids. Not a place to quietly eat something, recommended for group organizations. Note: Tea was unlimited, another plus.

Everything about this place is a 10/10. Service: Super friendly, welcoming, and kind. Atmosphere: Nicely decorated interior. There are some outside tables too, if that's your thing. Food: Exceptional! I have never had anything here that I didn't love. My go-to is the Sultan Chicken, but I had the lamb shish kebab tonight and it was also outstanding. The appetizers (go for the mixed app plate) and desserts I've tried here (Kunefe is the GOAT) are also top notch. Don't miss out on this spot just because it's in a strip mall in Herndon. If you even THINK you might like Turkish food, come here now!

On travel to this part of the world. Decided to give this place a try. Was blown away by the service and the food. Our server was spot on with her recommendations. She took the time to explain what the food was, never having Turkish before, and what wine would go with what we were having. Don't skip the Turkish coffee at the end. Its really good. There are grounds in the bottom of the cup, so don't be like me and think it's a chocolate gift....

I had an amazing time here. Before I went I obviously perused yelp and couldn't really believe how overwhelmingly positive the reviews were on a whole. But they were right! First of all I haven't been to the plaza before and finding parking underground took a second. The restaurant was pretty full even on a weekday evening with evident regulars chatting up servers with warmth and familiarity. We shared a delightful eggplant app. The name escapes me now. And the fresh, made-in-house bread was great. I had the doner kabob, very tasty, which had a generous serving such that I had to pack up some and take it home. I loved the cool yogurt sauce and the juicy tomatoes and the good amount of rice. The dessert was something I never would have had if not for another member of my party convincing me after I brought up what everyone on yelp was raving about: kunefe. The description made no sense to me. Semolina noodles, cheese, and honey? But an umami flavor bomb dessert was too intriguing. And it! did! not! disappoint! A fun texture with the thin vermicelli-like noodles and stretchy slightly salty cheese and honey cutting through with the pistachios gently coming in. That flavor balance. The textures. Sharing one between three people was plenty. I can't wait to have it again. It blew my mind.

Oh my goodness I had such HIGH expectations. The pictures on the reviews looked so good. Sadly I ordered two doners and the meat was dry and tasteless. I ordered at 2:00 pm didn't expect to get old food. The fries were the worst I was looking forward to sitting with my family and eating a tasty fresh meal from a quality restaurant. The fries had been prefried (which is okay if you're going for a fresh Crispy taste) but these were left out or something. I am so dissappointed and would not want anyone to go through what I went through. The chicken sandwich was ...OK. so the two stars.

We came. We saw. We ate. Anatolian Bistro conquered us. Wow. Totally unexpected, brilliantly and exquisitely prepared food just for us. Let me start at the end. The wife of the owner makes fresh baklava. Fantastic. We had homemade apricot ice cream - first time for everything, but not the last. The desserts we couldn't fit are a curated collection of the best in Turkish delights. We can't until next time. We will save room in our dessert stomach, as my grandson describes his ability to eat after he has devoured everything on the table. The red lentil soup was light, filling and nutritious. (I looked up the ingredients.) The salmon was handled by a grill maestro and cooked to my wife's wishes. It came with a wonderful selection of grilled vegetables, rice pilaf and a salad of chopped green peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and onion. I helped her finish it. A large piece of salmon and vegetables. I had a lamb dish with the most tender lamb EVER. Delicious. It was served with a gravy on a bed of pureed eggplant and a side of rice pilaf. I never saw the delicious, tender Turkish bread they served before. Yes, I ordered another loaf. We went for lunch. Smaller prices. Smaller portions. But the portions were so large that I am sure that if I went to dinner, I would have to take home a "camel bag" for the left overs. The owner and his charming wife are an example of how the American dream should be lived out. Hardwork. Excellence. Caring. Persistence. I am so grateful they brought this taste of Turkey here. They are charming and deserve every success. See you there for lunch?

Thanks Yelp family for pointing us towards the right direction! Upon entering, we were seated immediately. This family owned restaurant is so welcoming and attentive. The owner, Cemal and his family work beautifully as a team. We got a chance to speak to Cemal for awhile and he is so humble, kind, generous, and hard working. It was so nice to meet you! Our server was also very kind, attentive, and patient. Everything we ordered from start to finish was delicious. Quality ingredients are used and you can taste the difference. Nothing was overly salty. Each dish was perfectly seasoned. Their complimentary bread was so fresh, warm, and fluffy. The kabobs were tender and incredibly flavorful. The ambiance is laid back and the restaurant is very clean. I'm so glad we got a chance to try Anatolian Bistro and can't wait to come back!

Jamal was a wonderful host for our incredible authentic Turkish lunch before we had to leave town from the airport. This restaurant is totally spotless with excellent service and amazing food. Along one wall is a huge panoramic photo vista of Istanbul from 1900! We watched tourist videos from turkey on a Tv which were equally fascinating. Now, for the lunch... We had sigara boregi, mucver, sucuk kizartmasi, kofte plus Turkish coffee. All were fabulously delicious and well presented! We didn't know what many of these items were but we chose well apparently! Yummy!

Solid choice for Turkish food. Can't go wrong with with the diner kabob especially eight eh tomato sauce option. The chicken was particularly good. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and adds to the dining experience. I expect to visit again to try more of their menu.

Excellent authentic Turkish cuisine. I had the Malatya Spicy Chicken appetizer and Adana Kebab as my main. Well done and the only minor quibble was the kebab could have been a bit more tender. The Barbera Duelilu wine paired well with all of the dishes.

I had a hankering for lamb, so I had dinner with a nephew at Anatolian Bistro, last night. As They Might Be Giants said, "Lamb's nobody's business but the Turks." I'm loosely following a no carb diet at the moment, so a lot of the menu was, regrettably, off-limits to me. We tend to eat family-style, so we shared the Spicy Ezme, Doner Kebab, Lamb Chops and Lamb Shank. I cheated on my diet and had one small slice of bread with the Spicy Ezme, which was only mildly spicy, but quite tasty. That was fortunate, because, although the bread was served warm, it was dry and bland. I much prefer a more glutinous, chewy bread that has more salt in it. The Doner Kebab was moist and tasty. I just learned that Turkish doner pre-dates Greek gyro and Arabian shawarma, and the original might still be the best. The Lamb Chops had a bit of char on them and were cooked well done. Although I prefer my lamb rib chops to be cooked on the rare side of medium rare, they were tender and tasty, because, well, it's lamb! The Lamb Shank was braised and served with roasted eggplant. I think that braised lamb shanks best showcase the true flavor of lamb and this one was no exception. And the simplicity of the roasted eggplant made me vow to roast some at home. Why I haven't eaten it more often is beyond me. Despite my dietary restrictions, I could not resist the Kunife and Baked Pumpkin for dessert. Kunife, which is enunciated like "Tina Fey", was totally new to me. Typical of non-European desserts, it's made of a slightly salty and very soft cheese baked with shredded phyllo and topped with honey syrup, rose water and pistachios. It was a really nice change of pace from simple baklava. The Baked Pumpkin was also quite delicious. It definitely pays to have an expansive dessert palate. The restaurant space is simple, but nice, the service was genuine and the bathroom was clean. Anatolian Bistro is now my restaurant destination for lamb in this area.

I stopped by for lunch with two friends, one of whom spent several years living in Turkey, so she knows Turkish food. All three of us found the food delicious, particularly the bream (fish) and doner kebab. Stuffed grape leaves are the best I have had in the area. We sampled the appetizers and enjoyed all of them. The food was so good that two of us ordered extra to-go meals to take home for dinner. Will be back for sure.

Awesome place to eat!!! Very quant, quiet, great food. Service is great. Family owned. Explains everything,. Nothing on the menu is with out trying,,, cannot go wrong!!! Out door dining is great atmosphere when weather is permitting. I come here every time I am in town! Love the family.

Wonderful and authentic Turkish food served very tastefully. I tried the lentil soups, the falafel plate, the desert(s) and the Turkish tea and Coffee. All 5 star! Will be going back to try out the Bronzino fish.

Five stars for terrific service from the waitress and the manager/owner who stopped by the check on me. As for the meal, it was excellent. I let the waitress upgrade me from a simple donner kebab meal to the adara (sp?) kebab special which was made with chicken. Two nice sized kebabs with thin bread, a nice portion of rice and a pile of sweet onions plus a yogurt sauce and a deceptively hot green pepper. I'll tell you, I severely underestimated that pepper which kicked my taste buds into next week. Hot! Fortunately, the rice and the yogurt got me back to Earth and I enjoyed the meal. Nice and fancy restaurant in a corner of this large shopping plaza.

We were excited to find this me Turkish restaurant closer to home since we had a very good experience at another one in Vienna before. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. The place very clean and elegant, and of course most importantly the food is exquisite. Having dined here twice we can highly recommend several dishes: the iskender kabob and the begendili kebabi were both exceptional, see photos below. For dessert we picked the knafe which is delicious and hard to find in this area.

This is the best Turkish restaurant. Food is exceptional, the service is great making everyone feel that they are the VIP in the restaurant that day. The owner makes the effort to visit each table. Definitely a must try!!!

Well, I'd never had Turkish food before Anatolian Bistro but now this is my absolute favorite place to come for lunch, since I work right across the street. Their red lentil soup with the lemon wedges has honestly made me crave lentil soup all the time. That squeeze of fresh lemon is just what it needs to make it both comforting and refreshing at the same time. I believe they make their bread fresh, and it's amazing. I almost can't make the walk back to my office without digging in to the bread that they give you with your meal. I also love the chicken sandwich, which has fresh bread and perfectly cooked chicken. When I'm feeling low carb I just get the chicken shish and it's just as good. I've even been able to substitute the fries for tabbouleh, if they have it. I've yet to try any of the lamb dishes, but I bet they're all to die for. I'll be sure to update my review when I go back!
