The Best Restaurants for Big Group Dinners in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"This spot on the shores of Lake Washington has plenty of flair (you can get fish sauce caramel on your coffee, or order coconut butter geoduck as a starter), and also claims to be the largest Vietnamese restaurant outside of Vietnam. It’s a massive amusement park of a restaurant with robots that deliver food from the kitchen. It also has a wide array of private rooms, including a 50-person second-story dining area with views of the lake, plus smaller rooms for gatherings of 16 or 20 people." - Harry Cheadle

Had a really nice lunch here, I’m wondering what differs on the dinner menu. Soup was tasty, steak and eggs were really good, broken rice was pretty good too. Only thing I think they should automatically give you is a knife and fork for the big meat plates, it’s a bit hard to work with chopsticks. But the space itself is really nice, food and staff were pleasant, and you get a water view!

Great atmosphere, right by the water and restaurant is elegantly decorated. The price of food is a little higher for obvious reasons. My favorite is the Banh Beo 10/10 Steak Skewers 10/10 Fresh Oyster 🦪 10/10 The hyped dish Steak on the skillet unfortunately didn’t really deliver. The meat was rather bland and not much flavor to it. Definitely not worth the price 5/10. Pho tai lan has underwhelming broth 5/10. I love the cocktails selection. Tried several ones and they’re all great! Overall the food experience is a little bit underwhelming given how fancy this place looks. Yes the restaurant looks nice, but the flavors are comparable to those regular viet restaurants.. for a higher price. I’d recommend them solidifying some dishes’ flavor and make them more authentic/ higher quality (like Ba Bar for example) instead of just chasing “the vibe”, so we would want to come back often for the food.

My husband and I went here for dinner last night and loved it. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious — it really reminded me of different cities in Vietnam. We ordered the family-style combo and it was perfect. It had everything we needed and honestly reminded me of home, when my mom cooks and we all sit down to eat together. Super cozy and comforting. We also met the owner Quyen — he was so friendly and warm, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend if you’re craving Vietnamese food or want to introduce Vietnamese culture to friends and family.

We came to anchovies and salt and met up with the co-owner Calvin. The interior was created with so much thoughtful and intention to reflect each region of Vietnam. The color concept of the darker color walls, the black fixtures, and the wood really created a relaxing environment with a bold statement. The Dungeness crab bun rieu was was grounding and peaceful to eat. It included a light tomato broth with the smell of fish sauce. There were meatballs and pieces of Dungeness crab with a side of banana blossom and herbs. The seafood platter consisted of grilled oysters topped with a generous amount of green onions, raw oysters, steamed clams, grilled shrimp with mươi ot, geoduck in a delicious, warm coconut butter sauce, fried smelt, and a variety of sauces. This platter completed my seafood dreams. The bo la lot had packed meat encased in crunchy lolot leaves with a side of mam tom. The tanginess and punget shrimp flavor really rounded out each piece. We also had banh mi bo ne was delicious and had so many different components. It included a large Vietnamese baguette, sunny side up eggs, pate, tender pieces of flat iron steak, cherry tomatoes, and marrow bone with sweet bbq sauce. It was so engaging to rip the bread and make a perfect bite with each component. And lastly, we ordered the banh flan nuoc mam. The flan was smooth and soft with a hint of caramel fish sauce and a topping of coffee cream. This whole experience was delicious, brought so much peace and took me back home. I will definitely be back to try more!

Google
Highly recommend! The menu feels like a tour around Vietnam, featuring dishes you don’t typically see at a Vietnamese restaurant. I loved this culinary journey through northern, central, and southern flavors, with creative touches like the coconut milk geoduck that beautifully blends Vietnamese traditions with local ingredients. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly, and the waterfront setting adds to the charm. My only regret was dining alone—I wish I could have ordered everything I wanted to try!

Came for diner. Made reservations for 7 pm. Came in no wait but place was pretty busy. Be sure to make reservations else could be a wait for seats. We were seated outside patio with water view we had requested on reservation. Dishes came out when ready it seems. The first dish came out way ahead of the other ones. We don't mind. Just dig into whatever comes out first. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive even when very busy. The owner came to our table and had a talk and he comped us a few dishes that were offered here but very hard to find anywhere in the US. These were truly authentic Vietnamese cuisine on steroids. The ingredients were of high quality and you can tell once you bite into it. All the dishes were amazing and delicious. You have to get the oysters on half shell. They are the best I've tasted. What makes it so good is the sauce that comes with it. What's more, they have oyster special every Wednesday. Cannot miss. The atmosphere was so romantic with the patio lights turned on at night and the breathtaking view of the sunset on the water while you eat dinner. I feel incredibly blessed to have such an experience. Come for the food, come for date night. You won't regret it.

Google
Beautiful place at the water and with a killer sunset. The restaurant is clean and had plenty of seats open. The food was pretty good, with the wagyu being the only thing I really loved. I could have had 3 more servings of that. The rest was average for a decent restaurant. Service was pretty fast, food didn't take long, and they did have a cool robot taking food out and returning dishes. I'd go again.

Google
A great place to dine when in the Lake Washington area. This is probably the most popular place and also has plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. The Vietnamese cuisine here is good, but for me it's the company that makes it great. Its great because I can order plenty of items to share among friends and enjoy it with them. There's a bit of something for everyone on the menu.

Yelp
A Gorgeous Space With So Much Potential But the Food Didn't Quite Rise to the Occasion I stopped by Anchovies & Salt in Renton hoping to discover a standout spot for future events and potential company outings. The restaurant had been popping up all over my Instagram feed, and I was genuinely excited to see how they reimagined Vietnamese flavors with a modern twist. Unfortunately, the experience fell short on several fronts. First, the positives: the interior is stunning--warm, elegant, and undeniably inviting. It's the kind of space that should set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Service was decent, though the aggressive tipping prompt during iPad checkout was a bit off-putting. The iPad ordering system itself was inconsistent; while some items were marked as sold out, others simply lacked an "add" button, leaving us guessing. Several dishes I was eager to try--like the betel leaf beef--were unavailable. The food, sadly, didn't match the beauty of the setting. The crab rolls leaned heavily pork-forward, with hardly any crab detectable. They arrived with nước chấm but none of the fresh herbs or greens that typically balance the dish. The grilled oysters lacked any real grill character--no char, no smokiness--tasting more baked than grilled. Toppings were sparse, leaving the dish feeling unfinished. The beef spiced rib had great texture but was surprisingly bland for something advertised as pho-spiced. It was missing that aromatic punch entirely. A finishing pho spiced salt or bolder seasoning would go a long way. And for $58 for a single rib, it felt strange that no rice or vegetables accompanied it. One recurring issue seemed to be the cilantro citrus sauce, which tasted watered down and didn't enhance any of the dishes. The food improved only after I added leftover nước chấm myself. Dessert, a fish sauce caramel flan, was another miss. It wasn't sweet enough, lacked acidity, and needed more complexity--perhaps a coffee note or deeper caramelization--to balance the savory component. As someone who appreciates Asian desserts that are "not too sweet," this still felt underwhelming. Overall, Anchovies & Salt is a beautiful restaurant with incredible potential, but the culinary execution didn't justify the premium prices. For a place I was hoping to consider for team events or special gatherings, the experience left me wishing the flavors matched the ambiance. I truly wanted to love it--but for now, it feels like an overpriced view rather than a memorable meal.

Yelp
Anchovies and Salt is an elevated Vietnamese restaurant with enough flavor for the whole fam & a set-up for karaoke that lends to big group gatherings. My friends and I from the Asian Real Estate Association of America (Seattle chapter) gathered together after our annual gala to share some delicious meals & drinks. Someone ordered for the group so we all shared family style. We started with Mac Ken Beef Skewers and CHẢ GIÒ (southern eggrolls) and ended up with so much food that I lost track. One of my favs though was the Claypot Fish and my fav drink was the Mot-Hai-Ba Yo! Lychee sake. We sang our hearts out with the huge TV screen making it easy for karaoke night and the walk there from the parking garage had breathtaking views of Lake Washington and a winter ice skating rink.

Yelp
My partner and I genuinely wanted to like this restaurant. We've come for many events a few doors down, at the Hyatt, and said we'd be back for a date night as we've seen the restaurant so many times. We finally got that opportunity and what a disappointment it was. Sure, I glanced at some reviews prior to our dinner here. But I never let reviews taint my opinion of an establishment. We arrived on a Friday evening (with reservations) and it was pretty dead. The host was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. He asked if we'd been there before and we told him no. So he was very nice and we asked him for any recommendations of popular, well liked dishes, etc. We literally ordered what he suggested and we were so disappointed. He said the clay pot fish was the most popular so we ordered that. Overwhelmingly salty and practically inedible with how salty it was. Even with the $8 bowl of rice we had to order on the side, it was just way too salty that we couldn't eat it. Side note..... you're ordering everything you want on a tablet (which I don't mind at all, but keep reading for the tip at the end). We ordered drinks which came to us half spilled as the bartender across the place was carrying them (not even on a tray) and spilling it. My only hang up with that is my wasted drink. We ordered the clams, the pork belly, pho pillow, anchovies, clay pot fish. Rice, drinks. Clams had so much sand in them. Also to note, you have to pay extra for the bread to go with it but don't bother with this,.... The sand was gross and they obviously didn't clean it well. They're trying to make this a high end Asian restaurant but their drinks can't even make it to the table without being on a tray and as a full glass. You're ordering from a tablet and have zero service. There were cobwebs in every direction we looked. Food was just a big no. And here's the kicker. When you're ready to check out, someone brings you the bill, you hand the card, and they come back holding a tablet.... While standing there as the screen is defaulted to an 18 or 20% tip (I forgot). Really? I ordered everything on a tablet myself. Robots delivered the food. This all made no sense. $200 something later and bellies not even satisfied, we truly regretted coming here.

Yelp
The pho broth was pretty tasty. A little different than the dive pho spots but very good. The atmosphere and decor were beautiful. Good servers

Yelp
This just wasn't it for me. Let me start with the plus points. Really sweet location right on Lake Washington near the Landing, great decor, big space, good service. Unfortunately for me personally, this doesn't make up for the food. The pork belly tasted like fish food. The lemongrass chicken tasted like fruit loops. The steak pieces in the steak salad were a little tough and the salad itself was bitter. The fried rice was ok. The white rice was dry. The pho was slightly above average, both the mushroom pho (lots of savory mushrooms) and beef pho (decent broth, tender beef). The food was on the pricier end for the quality/quantity. There was a metal shaving in the beef pho which was scary, they did comp it no questions asked though which was a classy move. The kicker was that they validated parking in the nearby hotel garage but only for one hour. Who can eat a meal at a sit down restaurant in less than an hour? Why not validate two hours? There are good reasons to eat here involving ambience, service, and location, but to me food is supreme and they just weren't my cup of tea.

Yelp
First off, the restaurant is by the waters. With Lake Washington in full view, nothing can compete. I can't wait to be back in the summer. The restaurant is two years young. It seats 441 and claims to be the biggest restaurant outside of Vietnam. The interior is tastefully modern. I especially love the heavy front door. It opens into a spacious foyer with an open kitchen on one side. The service is impeccable. We called to inform them that we will be late due to traffic and we were assured of our reservation. Once we arrived, we were greeted with a welcoming smile and a chitchat. Food is delicious. Traditional Vietnamese dishes modernized. Sauce that came with fresh shucked oyster tastes complex, citrusy and light. It's sooo good with anything I dipped it with. Ca Kho To is my favorite of the night. Sauce is rich and loads of umami. Will be back for sure. Nearby parking with Metropolis app. Make sure to scan QR code at resto for parking validation - first hour free.

Yelp
First time here and it did not disappoint!!! The views and the food were absolutely amazing. We ended up meeting both owners and they're the nicest people ever! Will definitely come back when we visit to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
Took my dad and the rest of our fam here for his bday. Great atmosphere here. Open, spacious, clean. Love the location next to the water so this will be a great spot in the nicer months. Food was very good. We ordered quite a bi to food to share, banh beo, mango shrimp salad, crab egg roll, pho spiced beef rib, grilled oysters, clay pot black cod, stir fried yu choy, kids pho and flan for dessert. All the food was very good. The pho spiced beef rib was massive, tender and tasty! The banh beo was beautifully presented and tasty. We were impressed with the clay pot black cod. The sauce was absolutely delicious and we liked the use of black cod over the more common catfish. Overall we really enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere there. We'll return for special occasions as it's definitely pricy for Vietnamese food and the portions are a bit small. Nice change though from most of the usual Viet spots we eat at that are more casual (whole in the wall) type places. One other note is that parking sucks down there and the parking garage is expensive. Something to be aware of.

Yelp
Love the location of this restaurant right on the water in a very newly developed area of Renton. Restaurant is big and nicely decorated, definitely has an upscale feel. Most of the food on the menu leans toward seafood. We tried a number of things, and they were all good, but we didn't have anything that really knocked it out of the park with us. I thought the menu was very different than what you'd find in a typical Vietnamese restaurant, and my personal preference is for the more traditional. Prices were also on the high end. For my family of 5 it was over $300. Glad I got a chance to try it, it's definitely worth a try, but prob not one I'd go back to.

Yelp
Public parking if you aren't able to find a spot. Simple walk to the restaurant. Beautiful location, when the sun is out def want to eat outdoors. Pretty modern with how your order and call the waitstaff (although when i indicated on the iPad I was ready to checkout, i had to call the attention of someone after waiting for 15 min and it wasn't crowded at all) Food is fresh and flavorful. Portion sizes are just about right and priced accordingly. Tried the lychee tea drink was delicious and refreshing. My husband enjoyed mango soda which wasn't sweet but very tasty made with fresh mangos. Pork belly was delicious, vermicelli bowl was very fresh, fish oil to complement had just a little kick which was perfect. I love that i had the options to omit onions and cilantro via the order pad w/out it being an ordeal.

Yelp
We came from St Louis to eat here. Great Vietnamese food with a great ambiance. The Bo Ne was delicious and the pate was the best I've ever had.

Yelp
We're back here for the second time around in 2 months. The Wednesdays special of $1 each oyster is such a fantastic offer we simply can't refuse. We were a group of 5 having lunch. The Kumamoto oysters were excellent, fresh and with a perfect Calamansi sauce. I had the Mango Shrimp Salad, executed well. My wife had the Bun Cha Hanoi---really, really good just like the last time. Our friends had the Luc lac Beef which they tremendously enjoyed. Service was swift and friendly. Hostesses were welcoming and amiable. The decor on this large restaurant is themed Vietnamese, filled with colorful lanterns and paintings of Vietnamese landmarks. There's and indoor/outdoor spaces. Wonderful experience again.

Yelp
My husband and I went here to celebrate our 20th anniversary and loved it! The manager even came to greet us and told us we could walk around and explore the restaurant, which has different areas themed based on different regions of Vietnam. One dish we ordered was deep fried smelt which came with rice paper, veggies, herbs, and dipping sauces. My husband loved it! My favorite was the beef short rib. It was so tender and very deliciously flavored with Vietnamese spices. Their egg fried rice and shrimp fried rice were also delicious, and went well with a side of fried anchovies. Their craft cocktails are all very unique and made very well. We really enjoyed this place and have already come back for more. To top it off, it is right on the pier alongside Lake Washington for a beautiful view.

Yelp
My family and I came in at noon on a Wednesday for their dollar oyster special. There was already a line right at opening, and we were the 6th group on the list. Luckily, it only took about 10 minutes before we were seated. Since there were three of us, we got three vouchers for the oyster deal (limit is one dozen per person). The oysters were fantastic--fresh, sweet, and came out quickly after ordering. I especially loved the fish sauce dip, which was such a unique twist compared to the usual horseradish and cocktail sauce. My mom and daughter don't eat raw oysters, which worked out well for me because I happily polished off all three dozen. I'll definitely be back next week for round two. My mom ordered the bò né. I'd give it 3/5 stars. The flavor was decent, but the beef could have been more tender, and the bánh mì wasn't crispy at all. She also mentioned that the pâté wasn't as good as she's had elsewhere. Overall, it felt like just an okay dish because of the quality of the beef and bread. The restaurant itself is really pretty, with a nice view of Lake Washington. I liked being able to enjoy the scenery while we ate.

Yelp
Great aesthetic both from decor and the view. Outside seating available. Cocktails were delicious, highly recommend the kaffir lime drop. We tried most of the small plates and all were good! Wagyu vermicelli was del opus and flavorful. Prices are high for the portion, but the restaurant feels elevated. They do have the little robots running food around the restaurant. I found order on the tablets to be great!! I love a picture of what I'm getting and easy customization. Service was friendly but sometimes hard to get their attention.

Yelp
Was able to check this place out on a recent IKEA run and it definitely met all the hype and expectations I had! Such a beautiful space and so cool to see someone turn vietnamese food into something modern, trendy, and still delicious. Loved the really attentive service and the great attitudes and they truly have a one of a kind location. Plenty of parking and right next to the Hyatt. Will definitely recommend whenever friends visit this area.

Yelp
Big & beautiful waterfront restaurant in Renton. Free 2 hour boat docking. Park at coulon park & walk over. Wagyu pho was good but a bit greasy & noodles were overcooked. Had much better at half the price. Can't beat the ambiance & the water view. Great for big groups. Great drinks. Good service.
google avatar

Sheryl F.

Yelp
I want to focus on the positive first as there were many: the flavor of the food - amazing. Really well thought out and a treat for the tastebuds. Even for something as simple as the wagyu salad. I did not expect the flavors and they were a welcome surprise. The greens were fresh - it was a beautiful dish. You also cannot beat the location and view. And the restaurant itself is really well thought out and welcoming and I will absolutely return! I'd have to also agree with the other reviews - if they could address the ordering and the tablet - it was not user friendly and felt redundant with the amount of times we had to engage the waitstaff. And the waitstaff seemed less than prepared to answer questions nor were they proactive. These are minor and can easily be rectified. I highly recommend a visit! Food: 5 Ambiance: 5 Service: 3.5

Yelp
Came here for a girls lunch. The place can get crowded since it's right next to the waterfront right behind the Hyatt hotel. There's also the Gene Coulon Park on the other side the restaurant. There's outdoor seating and indoor. We sat indoor as it a bit warm outside. They do have umbrellas above the outside tables, but we didn't think that would be enough to stay cool. So parking is a big thing around here, coz you pretty much have to pay for parking, whether is street parking or the parking garages. I personally would recommend parking at the park towards the playground if possible since parking is free. There's an opening to the left of the playground when you're facing the water that takes you right to the waterfront. Just walk a few doors down and youll see the restaurant. We ordered a few dishes and shared. We started with the golden pho pillows, grilled oysters and raw oysters. Golden Pho Pillows 4/5 Grilled Oysters 3.5/5 Raw Oysters 4/5 (the table wasn't a fan of the sauce it came with, so they asked for Tabasco which they do have, but its just not on the table) For entrees, we ordered the shaken waygu beef rice, dodging steak, bone marrow and eggs, bun bo hue, and the northern sautéed wagyu pho. Shaken Wagyu Beef Rice 2.5/5 this dish was so salty. We were eating the meat from the golden pho pillows instead. Dodging Steak, Bone Marrow and Eggs 4/5 - group voted this was the best dish Bun Bo Hue 3/5 Northern Sautéed Wagyu Pho 3/5 as the party who ordered this dish said the portion was small. And some items and drinks we tried to order were not available. We came in around 12 and it wasnt that busy yet, so we were surprised. For dessert, we tried the fish sauce caramel flan. I was worried that it might be too "fishy" but it actually wasn't. The only thing we wished was that it would come out cold. It was lukewarm. 3/5, if it was cold, then 4/5. Service was alright. We had to ask for refills and other things a few times. But the restaurant is beautiful, and on the water so I'll give them that.

Yelp
Great find! Right by the waterfront waterfront, great space, great food, great service!!! The food is so unique and delicious! So glad we came here with family. This is the best Vietnamese food ever outside of Vietnam! Totally recommend.

Yelp
Wow! One word to describe my experience at this lovely Vietnamese restaurant, Anchovies and Salt. It is tucked in next to Boeing Renton and very close to several hotels. What a great spot! Food so delicious, location is great and most important people behind this incredible place are so pleasant, very friendly and excited. Ambiance is awesome, faces Lake Washington. Very clean, can be romantic am sure at night. Being a Wednesday, first 100 customers can order 12 Kumamoto oysters for $12, $1 each oyster originally $48! So each one of us had a platter and was so good! So fresh! How can you beat that! Then we all shared an app - bone marrow with grilled baguette slices. We ordered each our entree, vermicelli noodle with wagyu beef or Bun Bo Xao Wagyu, Bun Cha Ha Noi or Hanoi Pork Vermicelli and Nem Cus Be or Northern Crab rolls. Our server. Whitney was so friendly, so accommodating. She is knowledgeable of each dish. She's awesome and sure others are too! I have nothing else to say except you need to eat at this place. You will definitely not regret it. You will have a great time!

Yelp
This restaurant has been on my list for quite some time and the reels on IG from content creators and influencers that have gone here have been mesmerizing! My bf and I went last weekend! I wanted to wear a nice summer dress and my bf rocked a nice shirt and cargo shorts. When we got here, we parked in the public parking lot near Hyatt Regency Lake Washington. Retail parking is here and you can have it validated at the restaurant. I believe the restaurant validates for 2 hours but not certain. My bf paid around $8 for few or so hours. Anchovies & Salt is by the water and it was beautiful! You can see the boats and jet skis, hence probably only during spring and summer weather lol. Anchovies & Salt is known to be the biggest restaurant in the world outside of Vietnam! They have this said in the restaurant. It's gorgeous inside with red lanterns and plants. We ate outside! The staff really works well together and really check in on us as they rotate check-ins. One of them introduced herself and went over the specials and personal favorites which was super nice of her to do! We ordered drinks; I got non-alcoholics, fresh young coconut juice (served in a real coconut with fresh coconut juice) and the sunset Saigon (refreshing POG). Sunset Saigon was definitely my fave! It was POG but I felt there was another liquid which I could not figure out. My bf has the spiked coconut and it was AMAZING! Malibu rum and the right size amount too. We got the water fern cakes, very good and the grilled oysters, HUGE! We also go the lemongrass tofu, pineapple and mushroom (my favorite because of all the flavors) and the lemongrass chili chicken. The northern wagyu pho was SO good! One of the BEST pho broths I've had. Savory and tasty! I gave this place 4 stars because it was THAT GOOD! However, there were a couple of things that had happened as a result: 1) as the afternoon progressed, it got really busy at the restaurant. We ordered dessert; the dragonfruit with mango custard sauce and it took around 45 minutes to come through. We had to ask one of the servers on the progress for it and felt it took way too long to receive. We understand how busy it was tho. One of the bus boys took the iPad because we explained how it died or turned black and we were gonna pay with it but couldn't because of that reason. We had to go up to the front to pay. 2) unfortunately, I had developed a very upset stomach when I got home. I went 4x and I suspected it was the grilled oysters since my bf didn't have any, and we shared the rest of the food...so while that wasn't a great experience at all, this restaurant is still very appealing and delicious on its own! AND I really liked those grilled oysters. I truly believe it was cooked well and my stomach didn't react well to it...

If you're looking for a cheap spot, don't come here. However, if you're ok with dishing out extra money to try good quality vietnamese food, then this is the place. I've heard about anchovies and salt for a while, and I finally had a chance to try it. Each dish was super flavorful and high quality. We were also able to get a table outside, so we dined with the sunset in the background which really set the mood. I especially liked the clay pot fish and pork belly -- I'd definitely recommend trying those! The short rib was okay and I'd say wasn't justified for the price.

Yelp
I've tried this place a couple of times now and it always gives like a semi upscale Vietnamese restaurant! Great view of the water if you're near the windows and overall great experience every time I've went. The food was great, at this point I've tried like half of the menu and will say my preferred go to is the black cod clay pot fish and the caramelized pork ribs! Sometimes their portion can be a bit small so would need to order 2 of certain foods especially if I'm there for a family gathering or with a few friends. I've tried a couple of their beverages as well and I definitely love their Mua thu spritz and lychee lemon grass tea are super good! Our waiter/ waitress every time was super knowledgeable and I love asking people what do they recommend let's say if I had this (x) in mind or what am I craving for that day and they'll give you a good suggestion!

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful and sits right by the lake for a nice water view. Service 4/5 - the staff was attentive and gave good recommendations for entrees and drinks Food 3/5 -they had good representation from different regions of Vietnam in their dishes and a lot of them are unique. The dishes were on the sweeter side for me (cod sauce and the pho broth). Besides the sweetness, I thought the flavors were a bit lackluster. The wagyu didn't taste any different than regular steak beef... Price 3/5 -it's definitely on the more expensive price for the amount of food you get but makes sense right by the water with view. The presentation of food also somewhat justifies it

Yelp
Checked out this place based on a recommendation and I'm glad we did. Great spot to grab some small plates and drinks and the view of Lake Washington was amazing! Didn't hurt that it was a 70° Fall day. All of the small plates were fresh and tasted amazing. Had wagyu beef skewers, mango shrimp salad, and fresh oyster on the half shell. Service was very good and plenty of staff available to take care of you.

Yelp
Great location/decor, but inconsistent, overpriced food and small portions. "Good but not great" Vietnamese food that doesn't match the upscale price. Parking here is also a joke

Yelp
Anchovies & Salt is one of the area's most architecturally interesting restaurants in the area. It is truly eye captivating, especially the one private dining room with all the colored lanterns. It is so pretty. The view is extraordinary especially when they can open up the sliding glass panels to have an unobstructed lake view. I only wish the rest of the restaurant was as good. Anchovies & Salt has a consistency issue. I am uncertain why, but all I know is they truly struggle. For example, some days the rice is perfect, other days the rice is chewy and undercooked. I stopped ordering the lingcod after finding too many bones as sometimes they remember to debone the fish and other days it is completely missed. I ordered the PHỞ TÁI LĂN WAGYU and the first time I had it the meat was perfectly tender and delicious! The second time the meat was overly cooked. Forget the bone marrow - every time that has been disappointingly little for how much we pay. The cocktails, too, are all over the map. I haven't been in to see the same bartender more than twice. The cocktails often feel like they're being made by inexperienced people as they can be too sweet or too imbalanced. Rarely do I see anyone sitting at the bar despite the bar having some of the most comfortable seats. Service is straight forward as all orders are placed through a mobile computer pad. Little robots on wheels bring out the dishes from the kitchen and the servers place the dishes from the robots to the table. Very little interaction with people at all.

Yelp
Came by for brunch and lunch service. First, it's a gorgeous location and they have outdoor seating and allow pets. Pets have to be tied up by the fencing as to not disturb servers and staff. *With the weather and sunset setting at 9pm now, venues that have outdoor dining should be wiping down cobwebs, and chairs more often and this was not the case here. We had to wipe down our chairs. *customer service was nonexistent from wait staff and a kind busser was more helpful than our waiter. *I have a severe food allergy that I notified the hostess who sat us down and was informed she would come back with a shellfish free menu, this never happened. *After repeatedly asks (4 times) for a physical menu as the QR code was not able to share the cocktail options, we finally got an iPad. *Food and drinks took an unreasonable long time to come. Don't come if you are in a rush or short time frame. Honestly, with all the hype of this establishment and it being an elevated Viet food, I was disappointed and had to pay for parking to enjoy this place as they only validate parking up to an hour. Customer service wasn't there for anyone who wasn't Caucasian and it was very blatant. I can only recommend this location if you want a nice water view and enjoy outdoor dinning that you have to clean your seats before you sit. Seattle has great elevated Vietnamese cuisine that you don't need to pay for parking to enjoy. Plus actual customer service. Look into Ramie or Monsoon. Food here was more on the level or Ba Bar.

Yelp
OVERALL: Some things are really good, some things were just okay as I've had better or you cant beat homemade. I would want to go back to try it one more time as I'd like to try the other menu items. FAMILY FRIENDLY: Yes PET FRIENDLY: No PARKING: Street Parking and shared parking garage with surrounding businesses. FOOD/MENU: Hau Song - half dozen (Taylor's Shellfish Kumamoto, Shigoku, Virginica, or Fat Bastards. Oyster of the Day, Vietnamese Coriander, Lemon, Calamansi Mignonette) $24: 4 Stars - super fresh and the mignonette is a nice Vietnamese twist. Canh Chua Ca Hoi Mien Tay (King Salmon Sour Soup - Seasonal NW Fish, pineapple, tomato, elephant ear, rice paddy herb, tamarind, garlic, okra, cilantro, bean sprout) $26: I'm not a huge fan of sour... so its was just okay but I'm not a fan of cooked fruit or okra so there is some bias in this lol Ca Kho To (Black Cod) $26: 5 Stars - very yummy. This is one of those things I never tried to make at home so I'm was super happy to have this. Goi Bo Wagyu Luc Lac (Shaken Wagyu Salad - Wagyu Tri-Tip, Watercress, Tomato, Onion, Garlic) $28: 3 Stars - I had high hopes for this since I love Luc Lac and its Wagyu but maybe because of the high expectations... anyway it tasted like any normal luc lac and missing some seasoning. Pho Tai Lan (Northern Sauteed Wagyu Pho - Fresh Pho Noodles, Mishima Reserve Wagyu, Garlic, Scallion, *Broth contains pork bones) $24: 3 Stars - Pho base was decent. I've definitely had better... I don't think having Wagyu makes this more special... Suon Bo (Pho Spiced Short Rib - Huge dino bone beef ribs, slow-cooked in pho spices, grilled, and served with citrus cilantro and pickled veggies) $54: 4 Stars - flavor was absolutely amazing and makes me want to have this again and again. The only issue I had was there was so much fat on this piece of rib. Ba Roi Ruoc Sa (Villagers Pork Belly - Pork Belly, Lemongrass, Shrimp Paste) $5: Really good and wish this was an entrée size lol Ca Com Chien Gion (Golden Anchovies - Dried Anchovies, Sugar, Fish Sauce) $5: I love Asian Style anchovies! Crispy, chew, and great flavor. RESTAURANT/SERVICE: This place was huge! I wasn't really sure what to expect since it was a dark and raining night when we went. Since it was a Monday, it was dead in there... like there was two other occupied table other than us. Staff was really nice and attentive but it might have been the lack of anything else to do

Yelp
Aesthetic, picture-worthy spot with great views, but it goes downhill quickly from there. The food was very mid--some dishes really lacked flavor, including the pastured chicken. The fresh veggies that came with the chicken, along with the smelt fish dish, were dirty and drenched in water, clearly not washed thoroughly. The ordering system on the tablet was truly the worst part. It felt like an added feature to compensate for the lack of service (which was basically nonexistent). The food is expensive, but given the prime waterfront location, I can't fault them too much for that. What I do find frustrating is the membership requirement for certain dishes--this concept feels gimmicky and desperate. Why not allow all patrons to access the full menu, with the option to pay slightly more for "exclusive" items, instead of outright restricting them? I really hope the owners read these reviews. This place has so much potential to be great, but right now it's falling short.

Yelp
A great place to dine when in the Lake Washington area. This is probably the most popular place and also has plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. The Vietnamese cuisine here is good, but for me it's the company that makes it great. Its great because I can order plenty of items to share among friends and enjoy it with them. There's a bit of something for everyone on the menu.

Yelp
My husband and I took a trip up to Renton for our 12 year anniversary. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington. Before we headed up from Portland, we also booked our nice dinner out at Anchovies & Salt. We were thrilled that it was literally next door. Being half Vietnamese, and not eating Vietnamese food often, I was ecstatic to dine at an upscale Viet restaurant with great reviews. My husband and I had an early enough reservation at 4:30pm, so we were able to order happy hour. We decided to do the entire dinner on small bites. Bonus! The ambiance was nice being on the lake and had a fun vibe inside. I'm sad to say that the food wasn't as delightful. We did enjoy the tablet ordering system though. Here's what we ordered: - Drinks: A&S old fashion, lemon drop, and a spiked coconut - Northern Crab & Pork - these were okay, but very greasy - Chili Salt Shrimp Skewers - decent - Grilled Lo Lot Beef - again, just okay - Water Fern Cake - I enjoyed these delightful little cups - Grilled Oysters - I always like oysters. These weren't stand out, but still good All in all, we were kind of bummed as it was our special dinner out and we just weren't blown away and it was pretty pricey.

Yelp
Had a good experience here with food and staff. Kumamoto oysters happy hour were the best. Cocktails are strong. Enjoyed everything I ordered today, especially recommend the pho spiced ribs and Bo ne. Will come back for the oyster happy hour and try other things!

Yelp
Dropped in for happy hour and while the interior is large and nice, the food didn't do it for me. Ordered a few things- chicken salad, steamed rice cakes, oysters and pho. Chicken salad had good flavor but the chicken skin and pieces of chicken were really tough and rubbery, sauce on the oysters was nice and pungent had a good kick but the oysters themselves had a funny taste, the steamed rice cakes were ok- nothing too exciting or standoutish, pho broth was really nice but the noodles (they are homemade) needed a bit more chew- they almost disappeared and the meat was cut up a little large (personal preference). The food overall was just ok- as someone who eats Vietnamese food a lot and visits Vietnam regularly, I didn't find anything here that would make me want to come back. Prices are expensive but it's on par for the area and being on the water. Service was good. However, the booth we sat in had some grease marks (maybe food or oil from someone's head?) so it wasn't ideal to look at it.

Yelp
This restaurant will knock your socks off! Come for the view, the experience and yummy foods. Come with your people and have a grand ol' time!

Yelp
I visited by boat twice recently and had great food & drink on both occasions. The dock is suitable for boats, jet skis , and paddle boards/kayaks. I recommend the pho pillows appetizer. The ambience of dining on the water is so nice. The restaurant gets kind of busy though and I had to wait a little too long on my first visit so on the second visit I elected to sit at the bar for faster service.

Yelp
Quyen knows what he's doing with food. Every single bite had me saying "oh my god" at my table. I attended an event planner event showcasing their catering options, and I knew I would have to come back here. Two MUST try's; the lychee martini, and the ca phe nuoc mam (fish sauce caramel coffee). The iced coffee is thick, rich, sweet, and creamy. I downed it because I couldn't get enough of the taste. It's an incredible cup of coffee. The lychee martinis are some of the best I've ever had, and they have multiple fruit options of lychee isn't your thing! The vibes here are just as incredible as the views of lake Washington. From private rooms to bar seating, they have it all! Plenty of parking in this area, and you can walk the dock after your meal to enjoy the view. If you haven't been here, you have to come back and try the wagyu pho!

Yelp
We caught the Blue Angels at the Airshow on Friday with the best view over the lake! Plus, half-off beers and $2 oysters?! The service was amazing, our waitress was so friendly! We loved the Happy Hour small bites, especially the spicy grilled shrimp with that amazing sauce! The Wagyu Mac Khen skewers were also a hit! The Banh Beo was a miss, but the view made up for the price!

Yelp
Great spot at the south side of lake Washington on a gorgeous weather day. The dining room is well done and we were invited to take a tour. Truly a unique spot. City health rating is fair. The food was tasty. We ordered the lemon grass fried pork belly, fried rice, pork egg rolls, and some greens. Definitely paying either to be seen and/or the location. Many folks here, dining room robots doing stuff but service was below average, although friendly folks. For the cost: no

Yelp
Former Yelp Elite '07-18', as I don't really write reviews anymore. I saw this place all over my social media, I also walked by it weekly near my work. So I have been wanting to try it for a while. I finally tried it the other night on a bro-date and I feel like I have to write a review. Decor and Environment - Beautiful Service - Friendly but also ordering my own food with iPads left at the table really takes away from what seems like a nicer dining establishment. It also makes me question 18%+ tip (where gratuity started) when I'm already taking my own orders and sending it to the kitchen. Food Quality - Good Food Taste - Good Food Creativity - Good Value/Price/Portion - Really bad especially combined with portion size. $22 Pho (before tax and tip), I get smaller than a small bowl at most pho places, quality noodles, but again maybe 1/3 less noodles than you'd typically get anywhere else, and I get 4 thin strips of beef in it. Also 2 skewers of beef - $22 as well. I drank a protein shake before I arrived at the restaurant just in case it was a place that had slightly smaller portions and found myself having to order more food to leave feeling like I ate a dinner. Dinner for two after tax and tip was about $170, we bought a pho, a kids pho (for extra noodles to share), a beef skewer, chicken lemongrass, small rice, coconut bread, a fresh coconut drink and cocktail, and the dragon fruit dessert (oh yeah only got HALF of a dragon fruit for like $15). Honestly, I loved the environment and the creativity and taste of the dishes. But the pricing for the portions given was very upsetting. Combined with ordering via iPads also cheapened the experience/service. TL;DR - This place is good to bring friends and take instagram photos of your food and the environment. Imagine an upscale Vietnamese restaurant in Las Vegas. That's what Anchovies and Salt is. I may take my parents one day when they visit, they will say the same...beautiful, tasty...too expensive, mid service and too little food. I will stick to my normal Vietnamese restaurants without the view or fancy instagram worthy presentation while getting 90% of the quality, 30% more portions while paying 30% less at the same time. Management - Maintain your price but increase your portion size 20-30% and you'll probably have a lot more return customers. I think once the new place in town trend wears off (as well as the summer weather which this place has a great location for)...don't be surprised if the restaurants start to lose more and more reservations.

Yelp
First time here! Everything was phenomenal, from the service to the food. We devoured every dish. Such a lovely restaurant with an amazing view. Can't wait to come back again when we are in the area!

Yelp
This is, aesthetically AND in terms of food quality, one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever dined in (...and if you've read my reviews I'm an international traveler). Upon entry we were greeted by staff but also the atmosphere. There's a huge piece of jade as an art piece at the entrance and lanterns up above hanging from the ceiling. It's breathtaking. I didn't catch his name but I believe it was the owner who greeted us, and he was so friendly! We got there early but were still able to be seated, in a cozy corner with a clear view of the lake. The food. Oh my gosh the food. We didn't even have access to the full menu..we got the happy hour menu but it was more than enough to satisfy us. I enjoyed the short ribs, and coconut butter with bread but I've got to say those crab rolls were to die for. I wanted to order 2 more but I didn't want to overdo it. Next time I'll overdo it, haha. The drinks were great! Definitely recommend trying a cocktail (or two) of you go. The owner also invited us to explore the restaurant, which he proudly explained represented different parts and eras of Vietnam. We were shy initially but before leaving checked it out and woah. Just when you think you've seen it all it just keeps going. It's also the largest Vietnamese restaurant outside of Vietnam, and for that alone, you should totally check it out.

Yelp
Staying at hotel next door and we saw the bone marrow on their menu. We stopped in but found out they only serve bone marrow for breakfast. The owner stopped by to visit us and saw we were looking for something. We mentioned the bone marrow we saw on line and he made sure we got it. They mad special for us. Sooooo goooood!!!! Everything we ate was so delicious! We will be back again!

Yelp
I was in Renton for a conference and visited Anchovies and Salt a couple of times throughout my trip. On my last day I order the Northern Sautéed Wagyu Pho. This was my first time having Northern Vietnamese Pho and it was really good. Northern Pho really allows the beef/stock to shine so there's a lot less spices compared to Southern Pho. The broth of the pho was rich and the green onions on top added a nice texture and freshness to the soup. We ordered out food through an iPad; however the servers were there in case you had any questions about the menu and to bring out drinks. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and was always busy when I went. I also had the smelt platter and the water fern cake on another visit, but I unfortunately don't have a photos of these. Everything I tried at Anchovies & Salt was delicious and if I am ever in Renton again I will definitely be stopping by for a visit.

Yelp
We went near the end of happy hour on a weekday afternoon. We were lucky to find free street parking nearby. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the nice view. We were able to place a happy hour order just in time, the waitress and server made sure it happened! Our server, Andrew, gave us some great recommendations and was overall very friendly and helpful! The Golden Pho Pillows were delicious - it was a great mix of flavors and textures. We also really liked the grilled oysters - the sauce was perfect. The chicken was pretty good, just make sure to add the Vietnamese coriander and dipping salt. The water fern cakes were nice to try too, I hadn't had anything like it previously. We were sad that they ran out of $1 oysters as that's what we were looking forward to the most when we went. The prices overall are definitely not low but the flavors and getting to try new things was nice.

Yelp
Delicious, beautifully plated food in an equally gorgeous warm wood paneled environment with views of Lake Washington. Each dish we ordered was unique and boldly flavorful. The pho spiced short rib was a meat lovers standout with generous portions. The black cod clay pot had a delicate fish with a savory sauce that's great over rice that my spoon kept gravitating toward. The staff were friendly and attentive.
