Andino's Italian Restaurant

Coming from out of state, we were looking for a place representative of Federal Hill while visiting Providence. The big flavors, big portions, and big personalities among the staff and customers were everything we hoped for while visiting RIs Little Italy. We came for a relaxing family dinner, and got exactly that, but the bar scene in the front half looked fun too! Great time.

We started with an appetizer of calamari. It was very tender and a little spicy. We then had our main meal I had the gnocchi and vodka cream sauce with grilled chicken and my wife had the fettuccine Alfredo with jumbo shrimp. They were both excellent. We had a nice bottle of Chianti with dinner and my wife had the lemon cello cake for dessert. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back to try other meals. The staff was very friendly and helpful and was there anything we needed?

Andino’s italian restaurant is a phenomenal establishment serving authentic Italian cuisine in the heart of Providence, Rhode Island. The fried calamari to start, was cooked to perfection with a touch of red peppers bursting with flavor. The Chicken Marsala entree was by far when of the best Marsala dishes I’ve ever had. The servings were very generous and reasonably priced. Great overall service and amazing atmosphere.

My first time here today for lunch with a colleague. The service was great. A nice quaint place to dine. I had the Mushroom Tortellini special. It was delicious. My only complaint, was the noise. It’s pretty loud once the tables fill up. That’s to be expected I suppose. The service was excellent and the quantity of food was great. I will be back.

Phenomenal Federal Hill experience. Terry at the bar is attentive and welcoming. Sirloin Alla Mama was perfectly portioned. Garlic butter sauce chock full of garlic very flavorful. Perfect spot that reminds you of the way Fed Hill should be.

My wife and I had dinner here on a recommendation from a friend. The atmosphere, service and food were exceptional. The best chicken parmigiana we have ever had. Just a perfect romantic experience. Thank you. Craig

Came to Providence RI from Boston while on vacation. Atwells Ave, Federal Hill, was recommended to us by the hotel we were staying at. We stumbled on Andino's and decided to give them a try. There were other options but we made a great choice. The portion size was a lot that we had the leftovers for dinner. Our waitress was great in helping us decide what to order, great service! The place is nice inside .

Andino's is my favorite Italian restaurant in the Federal Hill neighborhood in Providence. If you haven't been to Providence you have no idea they have some of the best old school Italian anywhere. There is nothing better than grabbing a couple of bar stools and having dinner at the bar. Terry, their fabulous bartender has been making exceptional classic cocktails for 20 years. She makes you feel like you're home from the moment you walk in. Along with their fantastic Italian fare, they have a nice selection of seasonal cocktail recipes. I usually stick with my staple Manhattan when eating Italian so trust me it's one of the best you'll have. Andino's is known for a very healthy pour which is nice given how skinny they get these days. So nice, my friends and call it a kiddie pool. Who doesn't love a heavy pour? Next time you're around Providence, go see Terry at Andino's in Federsl Hill and enjoy a delicious kiddie pool. Salute

This place Andino's is FIRE. Makes you feel like you are in Italy, smelling the real Italian food and vibe. We ordered some Fried Calamari, with Spaghett and clam soup. Place is pretty expensive, but i think I do not need to tell you why. Food is delicious and on point. Probably the best Italian spot I have been to in Rhode Island. Nice servers are friendly . I will be back on our next trip.

My go to spot when im feeling blah, great for take out as well as dine in. I always get the same thing, Italian bread, a meatball, arancini balls and chicken soup with 2 slices of lemon cake . Nothing says comfort like grazing on these delicious treats!

Food delicious but very noisy and crowded Desserts were the best. Pasta dishes were ok nothing special

The service was fine. The ambiance is fine. The food is the star of the show. There were 3 dishes on the specials menu and I knew after looking at it that I had no need to open the actual menu. We got the Mushroom Tortellini and the Short Rib Agnolotti - both were exquisite and the portion sizes were mind-blowing. Prepare to share an entree if not a big eater or just get a cup of pasta fagioli (delish) beforehand and then share. The wine list is also wonderful. Highly recommend.

The best atmosphere for old school Italian cooking on Federal Hill especially now that Old Canteen is gone. Have been here many times and tried something from pretty much all the major menu categories. My favorite is the seafood dishes as they are fresh and the portions are generous though not so overwhelming they can't be finished in one sitting. Had the Cod Italiano on recent visit which was freshly garnished with olive oil and grilled peppers and tomatoes. Some other favorites include the burrata salad, stuffed mushrooms and any red sauce pasta dish particularly the chicken parm or lasagna. Any pasta is big enough for kids to share with plenty left over; ours loved the fettuccine Alfredo. Highly recommend!

So a few things has changed since I've last been here for lunch- and I'm disappointed. This has and will still be my favorite restaurant anywhere for lunch or dinner- but we will not be able to go as often . For lunch, there was a 30 percent increase on cost and significantly reduced portions (chicken used to cover the plate) - and now there is a credit card fee on the bill of 5 percent. I totally get it restaurants need to do this to keep up with inflation and stay afloat- I was surprised it was so quiet there during lunch it used to be a very busy spot for lunch. I felt overwhelmed today with increased price, smaller portion and a credit card charge. Food was still amazing and drinks always on point. Service exception so no complaints there.

This has to be the best Italian restaurant in the world ,it should be in the Guinness book of world records for best food ,no exaggeration ,to the valet parking down to the cannoli is a 10 ,I drive an hour to eat here .i love it ,I can't say enough about this place ,you just have to go ,the food speaks for itself

My husband and i had never been but had read some great reviews. We decided to brave it and bring some out of state friends as well...I know, ? right? Well, it was the best decision we ever made!!!! Every drink ordered aa well as appetizers and meals had Mmmms and Ahhhs after every bite! The service and efficiency was 5-star as well. We cant wait to go back!!

The food is amazing!!!! The calamari- I've had calamari plenty of times. But Andino's calamari has the bell peppers and jalapeños so it adds a twist to the traditional dish. The veal piccata with broccoli and mash potatoes is a classic go to of mine. I was not disappointed. The penne alla vodka, let's just say I had for lunch the next day!!! MEHGIIN, our server is fabulous and friendly. She's absolutely great, gives great recommendations and personable. Intimate ambiance and conveniently located in the Hill in Providence.

The rat pack charm of this place is almost as good as the food. Definitely a place where you want to make a reservation probably a week or two in advance if you don't want to eat at 9pm, or worse, not get a table at all. It's that good and that popular and the seating area is pretty small. They are a scratch kitchen so dishes can be customized to suit dietary needs and they do have gluten pasta for my daughter. We all loved the antipasto, I am dieting so I went with the salmon and broccoli rabe which was delicious and didn't feel like I was denying myself at all. My daughter had shrimp scampi. I can't personally attest to how good it was as she wouldn't even share a bite. My husbands lasagna was plentiful end amazing. Our waiter, maybe Eric or Derek, was so attentive and had a great personality. With 13 years at Andino's, he has surely earned tenure. You don't stick around that long in the restaurant industry unless you are the proprietor or they are doing something very right. When my mom is visiting we try to make a point to visit Andino's and this was her birthday so they brought out a complementary tiramisu with candle. They can make the average Tuesday or life milestones feel extra special. Highly recommend.

Food here is pretty solid. And the service staff were clearly well organized and hustling. But we had a bad server. She was friendly but didn't know the menu, didn't know the food, couldn't hear us, and generally unaware. I asked her the different options for the snails and she literally just read the menu to me. Another server saw this and gave me the response I was looking for. When explaining to my son that the dish was hot, she nearly stuck her face in his food. She didn't hear my daughter during her order properly and and responded that it wasn't on the menu until my daughter pointed to it. We ordered sweet tea and she gave us unsweetened since they don't have sweet. She asked a bus girl to water our table and we were fully watered. My watered went empty and she didn't notice when asking my son about the plate being hot Best dish was the snail salad. But we thought it would be hot and not a salad.

Amazing service and food. Fried calamari and clams Giovani were very good. Chicken franchise was flavorful and tender and vodka sauce was delicious and creamy. Great food and atmosphere

I came to Andino's for lunch on the hill and valet was a huge bonus considering it was the weekend, rainy, and busy. They parked my vehicle right away and I was able to get quick service at the bar. They give you complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic. For an appetizer, I got the fried mozzarella. It came with 4 thick mozzarella triangles and a delicious crispy breading. I would suggest asking for extra marinara sauce on the sauce, it was so good! For an entree, I ordered chicken franchise - a good piece of chicken but the sauce was very thin and too much lemon. My boyfriend's dish stole the show, he got Chicken Parmesan in a pink vodka sauce. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle with a delicious pink vodka sauce smothered with cheese on top. The pink vodka sauce had a nice creamy texture and great flavor. The restaurant gave throwback Italian vibes - I'll definitely be back!

Came for our first time from California and I have to admit there is no Italian food like the spots we tried on the east coast and Andino's was one of our favorites. From the service to the food, it couldn't have been any better!!!!

Good service and ambiance. Food was just okay and overpriced. Living in Connecticut, I guess I'm spoiled. Area is nice to walk around but parking is ridiculous and why most decide to eat at one of the many restaurants. If you're looking for "Little Italy" go to Boston. If you're in the area it's worth a try.

I love the lasagna here it is very delicious, the FRIED ZUCCHINI flower dish here is amazing the best I've ever had I try ordering this at least every other weekend when it's in season. The service is top notch. The ambiance is awesome very classy, upscale.

Maigin was so friendly and funny, she made our experience at Andino's so much fun. My friend was visiting from out of town and I know she made his visit a memorable one. She was excellent help with the menu. The menu is big and we couldn't decide on drinks, apps, or food and all of her recommendations did what they need to do. Thank you Maigin!

A fantastic place to eat! The dining room was full so we sat at the bar, which had the full menu. I ordered the lasagna and was not disappointed!! It was soooo good! And the service was excellent! If we ever return to the area we will definitely eat here again. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service.

So disappointed... we come to federal hill every year when we are back east. unfortunatly we wasted our only evening meal here. Big portions but everything else, especially the service was terrible. We won't be back... so many other great places, first time we really had a bad experience

Very much enjoyed the familar and fun vibe of our waitress. The staff was helpful, and the valet was courteous. The food was solid. Liked the Arancini very much. My friend liked her salmon salad, and my chicken picatta was quite good, maybe a could have used a tad more garlic, but that was my personal preference. Enjoyable dining experience.

Been to Andino's a few times The food is superb, everything is made in house con amore The service is great! The ambiance is nice and relaxing and upscale-ish They have an extensive menu with a variety of different kinds of dishes, pastas, insalata, carne e pesce e everything in between. The food is really what shines at this restaurant I had the stuffed mushrooms which was delicious Followed by some fresh oysters and then finally the meat lasagna which was absolutely delicious and the size of the lasagna could've served a table of 2 perhaps 3 people. All in all I've always had a great time at Andino's I will definitely return to Italian food paradise Bravo bravo Il cibo è delizioso Grazie mille Andino's

Visited Andino's for lunch today. Tried their calamari as an appetizer along with the eggplant rollatini and veal saltimbocca for entrees. The calamari was fried and served with sliced pickled hot peppers. This might have been the best calamari I have ever had and I have eaten this type of dish all over the country. The coating was good and without a burned taste on the calamari like you get in many places, plus the hot pepper slices just pushed it over the top. The eggplant rollatini was a huge portion, (3) pieces, and overall pretty good, it was different than many other eggplant rollatini's in that it contained a nice portion of I believe prosciutto in the center of each piece, and I could not identify the ricotta in it if any. The only part of it that didn't thrill me was the hard cheese mixed in it was rather too strong in taste for me in some spots, but overall it was okay The veal saltimbocca was tasty with plenty of veal, mushrooms, and a delicious wine sauce. It was well worth the 26-dollar fee for the dish. Lastly, on the food, the complimentary bread was really on point, after living out closer to the West Coast for the last several years, this bread just hit the way Italian bread should. The wait staff for our table was two different servers. they worked well and they both checked in on us multiple times. The service was not rushed, and not slow either. The servers were both nice and pleasant, and we were offered up options on how the food could be prepared more to our liking. As to the ambiance, the place is on the smaller or intimate size, yet we didn't feel crammed in like in some other smaller places. It has an upscale looking bar when you walk in and there is a divider separating the bar area from most of the tables. Overall, the place is great and I look forward to returning to try some different dishes.

If you want money, you go to the bank. If you want a prescription you go to the pharmacy. If you want the best Italian food in Rhode Island, you go to Andino's Amazing Italian food. Second to none!!!

My partner and I were in town for a night and are glad we chose this place for dinner. We had the eggplant and penne vodka- both were delicious. Our server was hilarious and kept us engaged all night.

This place had some great reviews, so of course we had to come give it a try! Val and Kate at the bar were so sweet! Val just made our day, have us some great options for drinks, which did not disappoint! The pomegranate martini and the white grape sangria were both resting and delicious!!! Val gave us all the great specials and everything sounded so good, but I was craving a carbonara and they made it happen! The food was so good, and there were generous portions!!! I was happy that I had some food to have for tomorrow! The place is super cute and it a great area that's lovely and fun! There's valet, so if you don't want to search for parking, bring cash for a tip! I can tell a lot of regulars frequent here bc the staff was so great!

I cannot begin to express how good this place is. Amazing food, highly recommend the ravioli and the calamari. The service was wonderful. Kudos to Stephanie!! Was the best. Get ready to struggle with some parking since this sits in Federal Hill which has a lot of traffic. But Andino's has complimentary valet so you are good. Lovely atmosphere; whether casual or romantic, this is the spot!

I had the luck of finding this place maybe 6 months ago. Since then I have been numerous times -- whenever I visit Boston I make sure to make the trip. I am always treated like family. The first time I went the wait was 1.5 hours so I wandered around federal hill and was so glad I waited. For me, this is the best Italian food I have ever had hands down. They also have amazing vegetarian options. Impossible to overstate how flavorful the food is but the way they treat you there is also so special. This place is ALWAYS busy so I strongly recommend a reservation -- and yes I have been twice in a single day for lunch, and dinner. This is probably my favorite restaurant of all time. I lived in Boston and went to school there and can confidently say this is better than any of the Italian places still in Boston.

Such a wonderful Italian spot in the heart of Federal Hill. We luckily were able to reserve a few seats at the bar on a Tuesday night about an hour in advance. The bartender is incredibly efficient, kind, and straightforward. She makes an unbelievable martini too. We split a bottle of red wine and each had a different meal. I had the chicken picatta paired with angel hair pasta. The chicken was soft enough to not need a knife and the capers were a wonderful touch of texture. The sauce was extra buttery and had the perfect amount of lemon. My mom had the chicken parmesan which was arguably one of the best I've ever tried. The chicken was thin and had the perfect crispy edges and the cheese to sauce ratio was spot on. My dad had the fish française which he says, and I quote "the single best peice of flavored fish I've ever had." That speaks for itself! Come take advantage of the the valet and have a wonderful dinner at this upscale Italian spot, but be sure to call in advance for a reservation!

It's really, really good. Anything you find to complain about would Be knit picking. I mean It's really good. Make a reservation. You will thank me later.

My partner & I love going up the hill on Friday nights for dinner and have rarely been disappointed. I order chicken parm & he ordered steak. Both dishes were great and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great.

Walked here from the RI Convention center with a bunch of friends and walked into the cutest family style Italian restaurant ever! Our host was very friendly and conversational (always a plus for us)! She guided us in our orders since we were all from out of town and gave us really good recommendations for portion sizes and dishes. Most of us ended up ordering either pasta (because Italian restaurant, duh!) or some sort of protein (salmon/chicken). We kind of filled up a little bit from the complementary bread and oil because it was our first meal but still made room for the huge portion of food we did end up getting. I didn't even get to the potato from being full from my salmon, bread, and order of salad. Everything was delicious though - including the red wine we ended up ordering! I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a family friend restaurant or just want to go on date night. You won't be disappointed in their portions, taste, or service at all.

Is driving to Providence for Italian food worth it? Oh, YES!!!! I've been going to Andino's for years. I just can't detour from my usual; calamari for my appetizer and linguini with white clam sauce for my appetizer. I did splurge with tiramisu for dessert on my last visit. The parking on Atwells Avenue can be tricky so the valet service is very convenient and will save you money for parking. The calamari is lightly breaded, fried and has garlic butter added as a nice touch. Sometimes I'm tempted to get two orders and just have that for dinner!!! For dinner, the calamari with white wine sauce is a healthy portion and VERY tasty. I like the fact that they have chopped clams AND some opened around the dish. My significant other had the veal Parmesan. Very healthy portion and I was told that the meal was delicious, the veal was cooked well and was very tender. You choose your pasta for your side order. The tiramisu was soooo good. I'm sure all of their desserts are. It's nice to know that great Italian food is available. It's just a drive away. All meals walking by look great.

First time visiting Providence, RI and we found the perfect dinner spot. Our waiter was informative and very attentive. I had the lobster ravioli topped with mini shrimp, it was unbelievably delicious! My spouse had a steak. Definitely coming back again on our next east coast trip! Thank you for the wonderful experience and hospitality.

enjoy the EXPENSIVE cocktail...but the meal was not good. There was no flavor what so ever and it was expensive. Wouldnt go back..... 1 cocktail, 1 beer and a split meal was $75 with tip at 2pm! I will say the waitstaff/bartenders were great

We were seated next to very loud table so it made the experience really not enjoyable to the point that we wanted to leave as soon as possible. The menu was okay. I had the clam sauce linguine which kind of lacked flavor. They got my husband's order wrong. We wanted scrod instead of shrimp but because we already waited a bit for the food and it was so noisy (the server also encouraged us to try the shrimp since scrod would take 20 mins). It tasted fine, nothing too exciting. Our server was nice but when we were about to leave, I overheard him telling another table about specials which he never told us about. Overall, underwhelming for us, will not be returning.

A great Italian restaurant! They have a really cool atmosphere, a great menu with large portions, friendly service, and most importantly, delicious dishes for every course. (S)

I have not been in a while. The few times I have been to bar or out to dinner , I had a nice time. Great food, good prices, excellent service. I never had a bad time at any of the resyeraunts on the hill. Uhm ty

I'd give it a 3.5. Really friendly staff. Pumpkin ravioli special app was great but some of the other food was very bland. Very generous portions and reasonable prices.

I just wish I could remember the waitress. She was amazing! She was very welcoming, provided the best service, and very patient as I didn't know what to order. My work group and I came for lunch. It wasn't busy until we got there around noon. We brought the crowd lol. Ambiance was nice. I ordered 5 five pasta from the dinner menu. My coworkers ordered apps they were so good. I want to say stuffed seafood mushrooms and fried mozzarella. Their entrees were fettuccine Alfredo and I can't remember the other. I do know it had a pink sauce. We all tried each others food and nothinggggg disappointed. We all were satisfied and full. If I ever go back to providence I'll be sure to make a pit stop here.

We came here for a quick dinner after a long drive. Parking near here is hard to find but there is valet. This restaurant was open later than others. It was pretty busy. Pasta was good and bread was also given. I thought the tomato sauce was very good. We were seated in the back near the kitchen and coffee.

I have been going to Andino's for over 30 years and the food is always excellent and spectacular!

I took my nephew out to this wonderful establishment for some Italian cuisine. We are relatively new to the area from down south so we have been checking out Italian restaurants to find our favorite. This was our first time visiting Andino's but definitely not the last. We had the fried calamari for an appetizer, he ordered the lobster ravioli in vodka sauce and I had the chicken parm, everything was delicious. Of course you never receive more than about six to seven ravioli's but even that was more than filling. I could barely finish half of my entree. It was enough for where a second individual could have had a full meal. The drinks were awesome as well as I loved the wine selection. Nice spot on Federal Hill to visit while strolling. Great traditional Italian food. Reasonable prices and good portion size. They have valet parking which is great for a busy Saturday. I had the veal Marsala. Excellent sauce and the veal was very tender.
