Andō

"Born in Argentina but having honed his skills in Japan, chef-founder Agustin Balbi opened Andō to realise his culinary vision from his unique vantage point. In a minimalistic dining room boasting tasteful details and an open kitchen, his tasting menu takes diners on a personal journey by fusing his ancestral roots with strong Japanese influences. Don’t miss the signature Sin Lola, the caldoso rice – also a homage to his grandma." - Michelin Inspector

The interior and hospitality were on point, with a warm welcome and lovely menu introduction. The food was standard, but I would love a kick or a surprise regarding a tasting menu. I recommend it to anyone looking for a Michelin restaurant.

The restaurant has strong marketing and engaging storytelling with each dish. Service and presentation are good, but the flavours were very disappointing. Everything was tasteless.

Dining at Ando is a meticulously curated experience that delights the senses and elevates the soul. From the first bite to the last, every detail is thoughtfully designed, showcasing the chefs' profound respect for ingredients and technique. The journey begins with an exquisite lineup of appetizers, each one a harmonious blend of textures and flavors that set the tone for what’s to come. The lamb, tender and perfectly executed, is a testament to Ando’s dedication to craftsmanship, rich, succulent, and utterly memorable. But what truly stole the show was the dessert. Ando managed the impossible: transforming a classic crème brûlée into something ethereal, light, delicate, and utterly delightful. It was a revelation that reshaped my entire perspective on sweets. Every bite was a pleasure, every moment a celebration. The passion of the chefs and the warmth of the team shine through, making the experience not just a meal, but a cherished memory. This was more than dining, it was pure happiness on a plate. Not only that, they kept it affordable enough for everyone to have a taste of real quality food. Special thanks to umair for making it delightful. *we just went to a 3 star Michelin and we prefer Ando in a heartbeat. We will undoubtedly return, eager to relive the magic. Bravo, Ando. You’ve set the bar impossibly high.

Andō A friend reserved a dinner at this charming little restaurant, and I approached the evening with modest expectations, unaware of the culinary delights that awaited us. The journey was a pleasant stroll from the Central MTR station, leading us to an unassuming building entrance. A quick lift ride whisked us up, opening directly into the restaurant, a lovely introduction to what lay ahead. As I stepped out, a sophisticated host greeted me with warmth and elegance, guiding me to our table with a welcoming smile. The ambience of Andō is intimate yet thoughtfully arranged, creating an inviting atmosphere. Each table is generously spaced, allowing for private conversations without intrusion, making it the perfect setting for a memorable evening. We chose the experience menu, a culinary adventure that unfolded like a beautifully crafted story. Each course was a testament to the chef's artistry and attention to detail, showcasing a breathtaking selection of ingredients and beautifully presented dishes. Although I didn't catch the names of every dish, I made sure to capture the experience through photos. Remarks: ☆ The sourdough was a revelation, served warm alongside a house-made paste that, I believe, featured delicate salmon, rich and velvety in texture. ☆ The Iberico pork was nothing short of extraordinary. It was succulent and tender, enhanced by a luscious onion sauce that danced harmoniously on the palate. ☆ The pastries and desserts were exceptional, showcasing the chef's skill and creativity and leaving a memorable impression. Throughout our dinner, the attentive staff brought each dish to life, offering insightful details about the flavours and textures. Their passion and knowledge added depth to the experience, making each bite feel even more special.

Truly an amazing experience. As soon as you arrive upstairs you can feel the vibe and energy. Exceptional food, a beautiful story, and a synergistic team with no missing links. Down to earth professionalism, and it works beautifully. Chef Agustin's story shines throughout the experience with delicious food, exquisite ceramics, and a staff that helps his vision come to life. Highly recommend. Worth every penny.

I’ve been to many Michelin starred restaurants but I would say this is one of the most deserving. We had such a great time interacting with the staff who were all so keen to share and teach us about the dishes especially the ingredients and prep methods. Love how the food was so fresh everything was made with the consumer in mind. What really impressed me was the staff stopping us from ordering the menu with the most number of dishes because he knew we weren’t able to finish. He was right, towards the end of the meal we were so stuffed. I can taste the sincerity right from the heart, all the way from the kitchen to the table from dish one till the end. We were also offered an extra dessert from the pastry chef at the end of the meal.

What a truly exceptional dining experience at Andō! From the moment I stepped into this elegant restaurant in Central, I was captivated by the sophisticated ambiance and the palpable sense of culinary artistry. Andō seamlessly blends Spanish and Japanese influences, creating a truly unique and unforgettable dining experience. We opted for the tasting menu, and each course was a masterpiece: Hokkaido Scallop with Green Pea Purée: The delicate sweetness of the scallop was beautifully balanced by the fresh, vibrant pea purée. House-baked Sourdough with Olive Oil and Whipped Butter: The warm, crusty bread was a delightful accompaniment to the meal. Beef Tenderloin with Black Truffle: The tender, perfectly cooked beef was elevated by the earthy aroma of black truffle. A truly decadent dish. Dessert Platter: A delightful assortment of sweet treats, including fresh strawberries, miniature pastries, and a light and airy madeleine. Andō is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary destination. Chef Agustin Balbi's innovative approach to cuisine, combined with the impeccable service and elegant ambiance, creates a truly unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommend!

Phenomenal! Andō was the reason we decided to do our layover in Hong Kong; to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. This was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made (probably 2nd to marrying each other). Thank you to the Team (and special thanks to Umair for being so lovely) for making it special!
