Ando Hotel Nara Wakakusayama

My family and I recently stayed at And Hotel Nara Wakakusa and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived we felt warmly welcomed and looked after—exactly what you hope for when travelling with children. The location is superb. Nestled near the beautiful grounds of Nara Park and surrounded by the tranquil atmosphere of Nara’s historic temples and green spaces, the hotel offered the right blend of convenience and calm. Our kids enjoyed spotting deer in the park right nearby, which made for a memorable family outing. Our room was spacious, impeccably clean and comfortable — plenty of space for our family of four to spread out and relax. We appreciated the thoughtful design touches, the quality bedding, and the quiet atmosphere ensuring a good night’s sleep for everyone. The breakfast service was one of the true highlights. The selection was generous, beautifully presented, and included both Japanese-style and Western options to suit different tastes. It gave our day a great start. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout our stay, always happy to help with questions or arrange extras (whether for sightseeing or family-friendly needs). We also enjoyed taking advantage of the hotel’s communal spaces and amenities: the lobby felt elegant yet welcoming for kids, and the local vibe made it easy for us to venture out on foot to explore the area. In short: this hotel delivered all that we wanted for a family getaway—comfort, quality, location, and genuine hospitality. We would absolutely stay here again when visiting Nara with our family. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a top-tier stay in this region.

Great location, shuttle buses into Nara to and from the train stations each day for exploring, both shared and private baths available (private outside baths on rooftop level) and room, food and service were all fantastic!

Perfect getaway up in the mountain area of Nara. Hotel has amazing view every floor you step, and what makes it perfect is the food, shuttle service, room size, both public and private onsen, barrel sauna and ice bath. We enjoyed it very much here and didn’t even leave the resort to the city for the entire 3D2N here. Oh, we booked sushi making experience too and it was just so fun! Mind that hotel doesn’t provide lunch and once you book, will need to select in advance breakfast, private onsen and dinner time.

We had a comfortable stay at the hotel. Staffs are absolutely helpful and considerate, the star appreciation activity and marshmallow roasting are rare but enjoyable experience as well. Will definitely recommend it to my friends.

Stayed at the Terrace Suite room. Beautiful quaint hotel - homely and cosy. Service was great, with the staff patiently explaining all the details needed to have an enjoyable stay.||Food was excellent - showing the creativity of the chef!||Kids and adults enjoyed the stargazing trip organised by the hotel, followed by roasting of marshmallows at the lobby.||Just to note - Terrace Suite is located on the 1st floor which requires you to walk down a number of steps. Recommended to only bring a cabin size bag.

Little far from centre of city in Nara. But good view from hotel location . It was not very convenient from Nara station if you are using train. Seattle bus is only 1 per hour. If you miss it , you need to use taxi. I am not sure this hotel targets of customers are couple or family . Looks like family friendly. But looks like little fashionable and designer modern chic inside and I thought maybe good for couples and it is romantic location for night view. The restaurant is not permitted wearing room wear and smart casual. I hope it is ok to wear room wear and sandals to there . I wanted to wear room clothes after take bath, but have to change clothes again for going to restaurant. Hotel is not so big size,if more casual and cozy ,must be good. It wasn’t bad . But we felt they can more improve some service for customers. The Room was nice . Especially their toilets are very clean and auto washing every time by bubbles. It was interesting. Bathroom are all good including big bathes. They well prepared amenities and towel and body soap and so on. It was perfect. (It was not very new ,but thinking well how customers use it) Private bath hasn’t washing space and only soak your body in there for seeing night view. The view is amazing. There are some free activities by hotel. They are so kind. The restaurant foods were beautiful and tasty and well amounts . Using special vegetables and interesting dishes. We loved it. We felt caring warm heart from staff when back to room. Cute doll on door .

We were very surprised when we arrived here. This is a cozy hotel, not far from the city, but at the same time far from the noise, it is very calm here. Perfect staff, very respectful towards their guests. I recommend everyone to take a package with breakfast and dinner. Japanese breakfast and the wonderful people who serve it. We really appreciated the dinner. Luxurious presentation, attention to detail and well-trained waiters will make your evening unforgettable. Rooms with panoramic views. You can always book a private onsen or use a public one. 5-10 minutes by bus to the park and city center. Amazing experience.
