Eater DC Takes Home Local Award for Online Breaking News Story | Eater

"A D.C.-based pizza chain sparked protests and calls for a boycott after releasing a Marion Barry–themed dessert called “Marion Berry Knots,” sweet pizza-dough knots heavily dusted with powdered sugar that many interpreted as alluding to the former mayor’s drug arrest. The item drew criticism from a former employee chef, the mayor’s widow, D.C. council members, and local activists; the chain’s newly appointed CEO initially defended the product but pulled it three days after its debut and issued an apology. The controversy was the subject of a breaking-news article published October 23, 2024 by an Eater editorial associate who had earlier reported on the CEO’s plan to return the chain to its punk roots." - Eater Staff

Restaurants Are Finally Starting to Give Employees Time Off to Vote | Eater

"A D.C.-based pizza chain took one of the boldest steps described by shutting down all locations on Election Day and providing paid time off so employees can vote, signaling a company-wide prioritization of civic participation." - Nick Mancall-Bitel

Food is decent when they actually have the items you order in stock, but they also have been systematically getting rid of basically all of the good toppings they have/add for years while simultaneously raising prices. I’ve had good experiences in the store, but the past few have been not great. Today I went to pick up an order from their own app. When I got there, I waited at the front for at least 5 minutes to even be acknowledged, even though the store was almost empty. There were at least 3 staff working at a mostly glacial pace. When I was finally helped, they informed me that they were actually out of the garlic sauce, 1 of the 2 toppings I got on the pizza. I also paid extra for a side of garlic sauce. I asked to be refunded. They made me wait several minutes to tell me they couldn’t refund app orders, and then put my pizza behind the counter. I had to ask for them to give me my pizza since I had already paid for it, and they said they couldn’t refund me. They offered no other alternatives, like maybe adding a different topping. They just acted like I was crazy for asking for a refund for something I paid extra for and didn’t get. Not to mention the pizza was dry and kind of gross without the garlic drizzle.

The worst experience I’ve ever had with any eatery in the Navy Yard area twice!!! First they made me submit order online only. We ordered two pizzas with all the meats and trusted they were correct. I got home and I only got pepperoni, still paying the premium of making my own. Stupidity kicked in because a week later I had a buy one get one free coupon. So I preordered 2 pizzas before a Nationals game. When I arrived, the shop was closed, my money was taken and coupon used!! I submitted two separate complaints and got an email back a week later promising a refund. Did the refund come back, of course it didn’t!!! This is a terrible location with even worse management. Very disappointing because I actually like the product from other locations, never again!!

I placed and online order and went to pick it up and the store was closed (locked, nobody inside). I have submitted this request for refund 4 times and no response. I will be reporting your store to the Better Business Bureau now.

Absolutely incredible! I tried the Mushroom Truffle Pizza and Loaded Garlic Cheese Knots, and wow—hands down the BEST I’ve ever had! The pizza was perfectly crisp with just the right amount of truffle aroma and cheesy goodness. And those garlic knots? Stuffed, gooey, and absolutely addictive. Every bite was heaven! If you’re a pizza lover or just someone who appreciates amazing flavor—please come try this place. You’re going to love it as much as I did! 🍕🧄🧀

The server Donovan was beyond rude disrespectful, and he overcharged me for a cheese pizza and told me because I got the drizzle of hot honey and garlic that it was supposed to be $16. I don’t know if this young man was having a bad day or what but please don’t go in there. I no longer will support this establishment. I will go in Sunday through Wednesday and I have so many receipts that have same price and the fact that you overcharged me because you were having a bad day is unbelievable. I’m done with &pizza.

This specific location is the epitome of DC’s cold, dead-eyed hospitality. If you do an online pick up, you are going to wait to beyond the actual estimated time. This is a reliably poor location.

Pizza is great for a quick, cheapish option, but this location has horrible service. We’ve been here multiple times and have never had them get the order correct or in a timely fashion, it’s always something…

Yea not a fan of the long pizza 🍕 it’s definitely made for people who like eating crust instead of a pizza. Me and my GF ate 2 of them and we were still hungry. Not to hate but an avid lover of pizza I give everyone a chance. Giving a round pizza choice would have had me bought. The crunch was good.
