Yelp
After sightseeing all morning and a nap at the hotel, my husband and I wanted to have a night on the town. After searching for things to do in the area, we decided an evening with cocktails and jazz sounded like perfection.
SPACE: Located in the heart of downtown Chicago and walking distance to our hotel, this spot is tiny but mighty. A bright sign welcomes guests out front and once inside, the space is much bigger than anticipated. There is a wide variety of seating throughout, high top tables, booths, etc. - perfect for all sizes of parties. We opted for a booth facing the stage, which was perfect for the two of us.
SIPS: Any meals with us, starts with cocktails. I opted for an Espresso Martini (it was 830pm after all and my old ass needed to stay awake!), followed by another cocktail suggested by our waitress - while my husband opted for his usual. Everything tasted great and strong - just how we like it!
SERVICE: Throughout our experience at Andy's, we interacted with a variety of people - the doorman, services, musicians and more! Everyone was welcoming, friendly, made great recommendations and definitely made us feel right at home. Our server ensured our drinks were never empty, put in our orders quickly and checked on us frequently!
SUSTENANCE: While I wasn't all that hungry (we had a previous happy hour with ALLLLL the fixin's), I found myself drooling at the menu. Everything sounded delicious and after our server's recommendation of the Cajun Shrimp Risotto, I was sold. My husband landed on the Chicken Parmesan and seemed to enjoy it. Portions are generous and everything tasted handcrafted and yum!
SETS: There are multiple sets offered throughout the week and weekend. We ventured in on Thursday to a medium packed house for the 8:15PM set. There was one prior and another following at 10:30. The first two sets are typically the same band, followed by a new towards the end. The band we saw, while good, was not what I was expecting. Very traditional Jazz, lots of bass and sounded disjointed - but I'm not Jazz expert. Still a fun experience, nonetheless.
Pro Tip: If you buy tickets online, it serves as a reservation in the restaurant/bar, so easy way to kill two birds with one stone. Tickets are a mere $15/person, so totally worth it!
When out and about in Chicago again, I'd easily return!
