7 Exciting New Pizza Places to Try Around D.C. - Eater DC

"The New York-style hitmaker blows Adams Morgan jumbo slices out of the water with a fresh new outpost at the top of the neighborhood’s nightlife strip. Best-selling options include its pepperoni pies and a white pizza with mushroom and onion (drizzling Mike’s Hot Honey on top is recommended). A pizza dough undergoes a 72-hour cold ferment, producing a crisp crust and a slightly sour flavor on stone deck ovens. Andy’s fifth location introduces a bottled cocktail program with colorful spritzes and creations from top bartenders. Open for dine-in or order online." - Tierney Plumb

D.C.’s Newest Andy’s Pizza Bottles Colorful Cocktails by Big-Name Mixologists | Eater DC

"At its fifth Adams Morgan outpost, Andy’s Pizza pairs essential New York–style slices with a surprise lineup of bottled cocktails ($8–$10) curated by top bartenders—Judy Elahi (Gravitas/Michele’s), Chris Francke (The Green Zone), Ian Douse (Astoria), and Maggie Mae Dale (Cabra, Los Angeles)—stocked in a fridge behind the ordering counter; the color‑coded cocktails use ingredients like yuzu, infused mezcal, and homemade grenadine. Jell‑O shots and canned beers are also on offer, and a grand opening was scheduled for Friday, April 8." - Tierney Plumb

I brought the family here for lunch based on the good reviews and it was between point A and B during a vacation visit. Andy's did not disappoint! The pizza was excellent, different for sure but a good chewy crust with crunchy snall bubbles. And they use the small pepperonis that cup when cooked.. 👌

Google
Got the margarita slice. It was a decent slice, but nothing special. For $5, I wish the slice was bigger. The sauce was sweeter than most places I’ve tried. Probably wouldn’t go out of my way to come back. However, the staff was pleasant and store was clean.

Google
The pizza that I received was completely - and I mean completely - inedible. It was absolutely BURNT to a crisp. I’ve had Andy’s three times. The first time was fine. The second time I walked a half an hour to get pizza, only to find that the bottoms of the pizzas were completely black and burnt to a crisp. I tried to take a bite, but it tasted and looked like charcoal. I legit couldn’t salvage even one bite. I had to go through the trouble of calling the manager, and he was able to give me a refund. A giant waste of time. Since this only happened to me once, I placed a Andy’s order again tonight. I was so wary of my past experience, that I called the front desk person **before** placing my Uber eats order. I told her that the last time I got pizza that was burnt to a crisp, and she very kindly asked for my name and assured me that this would not be the case this time. Got my pizza. Completely burnt to a crisp. Again. I tried to take a bite out of denial, and the charcoal taste hurt my stomach. Just wasted $40 on a pizza that I can’t even take a bite of. Clearly not just a one time mistake.

So my friends & I went to Andy’s for a slice after a good time at shanklin hall(black owned btw)I got a cheese slice it was fresh & hot.

Google
Excellent pizza! Fair price. Great service. Thin crust at its best! Relaxed casual atmosphere.

Google
Great DC atmosphere with delicious pizza. Perfect spot after the bars or during a lunch break. Also have a great selection of beers and other drinks.

Rachit A.

Google
Delicious pizza! Highly recommend the pepperoni special, and 8-slice combo to mix it up and try everything! Very kind and friendly staff too.

Xiruo C.

Google
Great place for sliced pizza! I got the white one and sausage & pepper, both were amazing! Definitely try it if you like thin crust and crispy bottomed pizza. Pinky lemonade was refreshing and not too sweet.

Yelp
Yummm I love pizza, but haven't had quality pizza in quite some time. I tried the cheese pizza which was delicious. The tomato sauce tasted fresh. I also loved the mushroom and onion pizza. They also have fresh squeezed lemonade which was a large serving. It was tart, yet not too sweet. The service was also great!

Yelp
My husband and I recently stayed at a hotel nearby and decided to try Andy's Pizza. We didn't realize at first that they had a seating area with bar service, TVs, and music--it's a really cool spot to hang out. If we had known, we probably would've dined in so our pizza could come out even hotter! We ordered a pie with different types of pizza to try, and the Sicilian was hands down my favorite! (We don't eat meat, and there were still plenty of great options for us.) The added bonus was that they had board games, so we played a few rounds of Connect Four while enjoying our pizza. It's a great spot to grab a slice or a whole pie, whether you're in the mood to take it to go or stay and enjoy the atmosphere.

Yelp
I love their pizza but ordering delivery is such a nightmare - never again. Just as I was finishing my $80 payment a message pops up that my 30 minute delivery time is unavailable and the soonest availability was two hours from now. To that I say go F- yourself! Easier to say you don't deliver.
google avatar

Alexis R.

Yelp
Some of the best pizza in DC! Their service is fast and the slices are always hot! Around $5 for a giant slice of great quality NY style pizza. The ambiance inside is great too so you can take your pizza to-go or sit at one of the tables they have inside. The AdMo location is right near a bunch of bars so it's a fun place to start or end your night!
google avatar

Chelsea A.

Yelp
One of the few places you get a slice and go about your business/ I love the pizza here! A pie can be a little pricey but the pizza is good
google avatar

Una D.

Yelp
Damn pretty damn good. They'd sell pizza by the slice which I love. I got a pepperoni It was pretty damn perfect Nice crust great toppings the sauce was beautiful. Just the right amount of cheese They serve pretty quick and they're friendly at the counter. One slice costs under five bucks. No major complaints I will be back

Yelp
Andy's pizza does NY pizza style absolute justice!! After a night of celebrating and galavanting the town, we spontaneously passed by Andy's pizza on our way to another spot-just to get out of the chilly-middle of the night-weather. But the smell of the pizza immediately drew me in, so of course we had to get a few slices. That pepperoni pizza is heavenly..the sauce, the crust, and crispy pepperoni were soo delicious. The pizza was so on point-that I honestly wasn't even hungry, and it still tasted fantastic. The white pizza had an excellent garlic robust savory flavor, and the margherita pizza was classically simple-so both were phenomenal..Plus they reheat it through a conveyor oven, which offers the perfect crunch and temperature. Also, the customer service was kind and very efficient. There are a few counter seats against a back wall and a large table near the entrance..both places clean and provided enough room to eat in peace. Dont sleep on Andy's..and I can wait to try them out again!

Orest S.

Yelp
This is one of the best pizzas in town for $5. This place is definitely recommended (cannot recommend the one at NoMa). Great happy hour deals. Unfortunately, there were no glasses to get some water during my visit, everything else was good. this si the right place for a quick bite.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Angel was the best! Came to the pizza spot after and it was quick service! Loved the food especially after a night out. Also the music was better than most bars out there!

Greg E.

Yelp
The pizza here is Danny was rep cool he served our food ns was friendly and always smilingsuperb!! I love the atmosphere an the staff are soo friendly

Wendy Eli R.

Yelp
OVERALL: best fast casual pizza!! Slices are thin, large, and flavorful! FOOD: the margherita pizza is my favorite but their pepperoni and white pizza are classics. They aren't greasy like other pizzas. SERVICE: the staff are quick and efficient. There was a line when I got in around midnight but it went by quickly. VENUE: this location has long tables in the center and smaller ones on the sides. It's great for a late night snack and it's open late!

Yelp
I've slowly shifted to Neapolitan style since there's so many great options in the DMV, but I'll always be a New York slice girlie at heart. There's plenty of places that do it how Andy's does it... large sliced pies laid out then reheated, but what makes them so special? They are reheated and taste BETTER than the other reheated pizza joints haha let's be real here. If you don't agree then I'm sorry you went on an off day. They have many amazing flavors, but the White Pizza is my favorite. 3 layer cheese type taste to it with a garlic essence after-taste... trust me you need to try it! Andy's Pizza - hate it or love it, but they've made a name for themselves for a reason.
google avatar

TheRose O.

Yelp
Don't know why ppl like this place. Super thin crust, regular ingredients, regular cooking. It's somewhere I'd go if I was starving but for delicious pizza never! Only good thing is they sell by the slice.
google avatar

Philip B.

Yelp
Good solid pizza but not particularly special. Worth a stop if you're craving za on 18th for sure
google avatar

Will M.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch and got a pepperoni and plain. Thin crust with very good undercarriage. Pepperoni had a nice tange to it. Slices should be a bit bigger for $4.50 each. Will deff come back when I craving good quality pizza.
google avatar

Jordan M.

Yelp
Andy's is simply incredible pizza. Big NY style slices with delicious and flavorful toppings. This place won the 2021 international pizza award for a reason. They have a nice intimate interior with an upstairs and outdoor seating. Staff are friendly and theirs next to no wait, even when the place is busy. I've been to this location several times and the food is above par. I've tried the cheese, pepperoni, supreme, white and buffalo chicken. Everything was pretty damn good besides the white. It wasn't bad but just not as stellar as the rest of the menu. If that's not enough, they have a pretty stellar beer selection, including Maine Lunch as of June 2023. Staple restaurant, I'll be back.
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
When you need a quick slice of pretty tasty pizza, Andy's is the spot to go! I love the partnership they have with Lost City Books and the quick service. I'd gladly come back here in a pinch!
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Andy's is a high-quality NY-style pizza. The Adams Morgan location is set up as a slice shop; one can order a whole pie but they were very well set up for a quick slice. I wasn't sold on the little rolling oven they had to warm these slices up, but I have to say it was an effective in delivering a crisp slice with melty cheese. I got a margherita, but they have a lot of appealing options so you don't just have to get cheese. The salads were also ready to go, which is nice if you're looking. It's pricier than the old-school jumbo slices AdMo is known for, but the taste delivers, and I was happy with how quickly and efficiently I got what I wanted.
google avatar

Tamaria D.

Yelp
Quite surprised with this quality of pizza here. Since I was in this area, I was looking for a jumbo slice for old times sake. But thankfully they were all closed and picking this place was a real win! The staff were very friendly and gave great recommendations. From pepperoni and sausage pizza to onion and mushroom. Very enjoyable pizza with a crispy crust! Yum! Only thing I didn't quite enjoy was a tiny drink fur 7 bucks that was supposed to be a lemon drop. They coulda kept that lol. Other then that. Great spot!!
google avatar

Mallorie T.

Yelp
Overall: 4/5 Food 4/5 Good thin crust pizza!! I just got the cheese and it was foldable and perfect. We added crushed pepper and beware, these peppers are so spicy! Great pizza though, yum!! Atmosphere:4/5 Came here super late and was semi tipsy so seemed great to me! A good pit stop after a couple of drinks. Pretty loud and casual, & the line moves quick so can't complain.
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
Really great pizza. At first I was taken aback by the price of a pizza but once we picked it up I understood the price. The pizzas are huge! We also enjoyed the kale salad and Caesar salad, paired with the broccolini - all of which I highly recommend to balance out the pizza. Wonderful spot.
google avatar

Stephanie D.

Yelp
I'm from NYC and trying pizza from different places makes me wanna laugh. This place ain't got SHIT on NYC pizza. I got a plain slice and it cost me $4.75. Pizza isn't even that much in NYC. It's tasted very blah. Not much flavor and the texture was a bit cardboardy. The people there were nice I guess. Didn't really say much. Also not much of a variety. The slice I got was also very small. Sitting here writing this I feel like I can eat WAY more but there's NO WAY I'm spending more of my money at this place. The restaurant itself is cute. Has lots of seating and whatnot. Would definitely not go back. Especially me being from NYC where we have the worlds best.

Yelp
Best experience of my life with Ian. They were amazing I will never have pizza better

Yelp
If you're on the hunt for the best pizza in Adams Morgan, look no further than Andy's Pizza--because, believe me, you've just found pizza paradise! The star of the show for me was undoubtedly their mixed pizza. From the first bite to the last, it was an explosion of flavors that left my taste buds dancing with joy. The crust was the perfect balance of crispy and chewy, providing the ideal foundation for the masterpiece that sat on top. What sets Andy's Pizza apart is their commitment to quality ingredients. Every topping on the mixed pizza was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. The combination of meats, veggies, and cheese created a harmonious medley that showcased the craftsmanship and attention to detail put into each pie. The sauce was a revelation--zesty, well-seasoned, and the perfect complement to the other ingredients. It tied everything together, creating a pizza experience that was nothing short of sublime. The ambiance at Andy's Pizza Adams Morgan was casual and inviting, making it the ideal spot for a laid-back meal with friends or family. The staff was friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about delivering a top-notch pizza experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Andy's Pizza is a must-try. The mixed pizza is a culinary masterpiece that has set the bar high for pizza perfection in Adams Morgan. Trust me, you won't be disappointed--Andy's Pizza has officially become my go-to pizza haven!

Yelp
Top 5 pizza we've ever had. My husband and I both agreed, this was one of the best pizzas we've ever had. Their pizza is thin crust, light cheese and some of the best pizza sauce ever. We will definitely be coming back! High recommend!
google avatar

Shelby D.

Yelp
Andy's staff member was going to serve me a slice split in half (without telling me it would be free). As the broken slice was being packaged, I politely asked to have a new slice because it was split and would be challenging to eat. The response from the staff member was angry: "I was going to give that to you for free, but if you want to pay for a slice, you can pay for a slice!" and then quickly dumped my broken slice in the garbage, and brought a full slice (and did NOT heat it) that I still paid $5 for. Again, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for the thing you are paying for, and while I appreciate the owner's response, this reaction from staff reflects an unhappy workplace. The pizza is so good here, but this was such an unnecessary negative experience.
google avatar

Cameron B.

Yelp
Andy's is my favorite NY style pizza right now - love that one opened up in the Adams Morgan area. After an evening of bar hopping, you know where to find me. Stopped by this location most recently on a Saturday evening after some merriment with friends; the line inside of Andy's was long (reasonably so) but it moved quickly. The staff was efficient yet friendly, providing quality service and helping fill our bellies with pizza as soon as they could. I had a regular slide of pepperoni, a classic choice that is just so delicious, for about $5 a slice. It was hot, fresh, and exactly what I needed at that time of night. I was impressed by how clean the spot was - sometimes those late night pizza joints can look or feel trashy...but Andy's was spotless. Stopping at Andy's before heading home may be a routine thing now.
google avatar

Tamika B.

Yelp
Andy's pizza spot was surprisingly good! The pizza looked and tasted great! The employees were friendly, the service was quick, and they offer ready-made cocktails (and other alcoholic beverages). My friend and I were hanging out on 18th Street on a late Friday night in DC, and we were looking for somewhere to grab a bite. We came across Andy's and ordered a ready-made old fashioned cocktail (boozy) and a delicious slice of pepperoni pizza. Everything about the pizza was delicious! Even the crust! Yummy!
google avatar

Priya D.

Yelp
MY FAVORITE PIZZA PLACE! If you have a craving for pizza, there is no better place than Andy's pizza! Their mushroom and onion pizza is to die for! Every time I have people in town, I always order from here! Always a crowd favorite! Andy's pizza is conveniently located on 18th st in Adams Morgan. The place is small but does offer some seating. Perfect place to start your night or end your night. Highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Tania A.

Yelp
Andy's Pizza will blow you away!! It certainly gave me everything I look for in a pizza + more... And now I have a reason to visit Adams Morgan more often . When it comes to New York style slices... They really hit the mark. I rarely eat the crust, because usually I find it a little dry... but I literally devoured the entire slice!!!

Leon D.

Yelp
Pizza was amazing and really enjoyed. Ian and Steve were really kind an provided an amazing customer experience!
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
Great pizza! Ordered through DoorDash- the pizza I received was HUGE!! Crust was delicious, sauce is exactly what I'd expect on the East Coast, and tons of the cup pepperoni. Did I mention how BIG it was? I will be eating on it for days!
google avatar

Tara L.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of wherever I can get pizza by the slice and Andy's is one of my favorite options. The crisp thin crust and ingredients that are used satisfy me in a way that most other pizza spots just cannot. This newish location has a little bit more of a grab and go OR dine in, mini parlour-esque vibes. I can only imagine how busy it gets on the weekend, but every time I've stopped by I've been able to order and eat my slice in less than 10 minutes in total. They also sell bevies if you're in the mood!
google avatar

Bruna C.

Yelp
Delicious pizza on the go. If you're in the area, it's a great place! Wish the shop would have more high chair for kids. There's only one for the whole store (usually full of kids).
google avatar

Yelp
Super pizza súper staff fully recommend best pizza joint in DC Bernardo was awesome. great staff
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
This pizza is the real deal! It's thin crust with a crispy bite each time. Perfect late night spot (or day spot). You'll go to sleep dreaming about it. The topping options are limited but a true representative of quality over quantity. Counter service with some seating. Can't wait to stop by this Adams Morgan location again soon!
google avatar

Christian D.

Yelp
Some of the best thin, New York style pizza I've had in recent memory. Impossibly thin pizza, succulent ingredients, delicious crust with a soft, crispy texture -- not too chewy or overworked. Hip, friendly staff. Chill environment. Also, very important to me: as much hot pepper and oregano as you care to garnish your slice with. Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
This place definitely had some kinks to work out when they first opened, mainly with their online ordering system and the timing of when things were ready, but it seems like that's gotten a bit smoother recently. Their pizza is great though. I've never gotten just a slice, but the whole pies are cooked to order and pretty tasty. Definitely not a fast option if you want a whole pizza, but if you have the time it's worth the wait.

James N.

Yelp
The pizza is good. The salads are not good at all. The caesar dressing is out of a bottle. I also called and asked specifically for extra dressing, was assured it was not problem and didn't get it. Probably for the best as the dressing is awful.
google avatar

Thomas V.

Yelp
I first heard of this place from a write up about them winning an international pizza competition in the NY Style category. I came in with very high expectations based on that alone, and I was still blown away. I have had tons of awful attempts at NY style pizza but this is the real deal and has become a go-to weekend spot. Their pizza by the slice is super quick and comes at a decent price (2 slices + beer/cocktail for $11-$14), and has that perfect thin crust crunch without any sogginess. But, if you want the full experience, order ahead for pick-up. I promise it will not disappoint. Perfectly fluffy crust that still has crunch where it's needed and a simple yet flavorful tomato sauce. I am convinced this is better than any NY style pizza I've ever had and will be forcing all my friends from NYC to come try it when they visit. PS I will post an update with a picture to backup my claims but so far I haven't been able to resist taking a bite for long enough to get a picture

Dave W.

Yelp
It was late and it was rainy and we just wanted something quick and easy for dinner. We decided on pizza and this was the first place we came across so we stopped in. The menu is short and to the point so we all just picked a few slices. Wow...what a find! They had a great variety - our group sampled several of them: cheese, pepperoni, sausage & peppers, margherita and white. We loved it! They also have a bunch of great drink choices and the staff was super friendly!
google avatar

Dominique N.

Yelp
This pizza was really good from what I was expecting. It was a burrata margherita pizza. It was a good size and loaded with cheeses (was a basic margherita pizza with burrata added on top) and fresh basil. The place is no frills, but I ordered take out. It seems the majority of customers order takeout, which makes sense unless you want to wait on your pizza. When I ordered it was about a 25 minute wait for a whole pie. You can order by the slice, but I'm not sure how often that pizza is turned over/you cannot get all the available types of pizza. They have a customizable pizza you can choose each slice for, but you cannot get any specialty flavors with it, at least not when ordering online (cannot speak to in person). Overall was very good for NY style pizza in DC and I would recommend it.

Noah C.

Yelp
Phenomenal pepperoni special. Best slice I've had in DC so far. Recommend going. Also had a great Caesar dressing and salad.

Julia S.

Yelp
Love Andy's Pizza! Tucked in a great spot in Adams Morgan, the pizza, salads, and sides are always delicious! Love their partnership with Lost City Books as well, so creative!
