Warm, cozy space with an extensive list of organic, biodynamic, and otherwise uncommon or unique wines. The selections by the glass rotate on a regular basis, and are only available upon the bartender's suggestion based on what your preferences are. It does get quite crowded in the evenings, and without regular table service it can take awhile to receive your next round at the bar. The service has typically been friendly and helpful, and we have not been disappointed with the bartender's suggestions. This is a great place to go if you want to try something new and discover a varietal or producer that's off the beaten path.

Very nice and relaxing place for wine lovers. They have good olives and small food as well. Staff was kind.

Returned for the first time since pre-CoVid. Like Pre-CoVid, they don’t list their by-glass selections. Luckily the ones I’ve had in the past were are all delicious. The outdoor seating had several overhead heaters. Very well ventilated. As for Floor configuration, generously spaced tables. It’s not the warmest set up, but you guys know how to layer by now, right? By-glass range from $15-19. The food is mostly finger food. I did seelasagna on the menu.

Great wine bar and tapas spot. Appreciate the following of Covid protocols. Reasonably priced glasses of wine; somewhat limited beer selection, but the quality of those options are very high.

Really love the atmosphere here. The way they serve by the glass is unique and fun. Tell them your taste or style preferences and they bring you a curated bottle choice or two to sample. The first wine I tried was my favorite of the night and maybe a top 10 all time favorite. They had great recommendations for each of us (four total). The small plates are delicious as well. The mussels were our absolute favorite.

love this place - grabbed a drink with a friend here and it has such a mellow, cozy vibe. Great for conversation. Small drink menu. Their wine offering is some recommendations based on your taste preferences! I received two recommendations based on what I shared with our server and loved my wine. Great spot if you’re looking for a place to chat over a drink.

Servers seemed to be knowledgeable about the wines, but the attentiveness of the service was pretty deplorable. At one point sat with an empty glass for ballpark of 10 minutes before actually having to politely shout at one who checked in at the next table over but didn't even glance at ours. Started with a cocktail, my favorite go-to, and it was pretty mediocre. Not undrinkable, but barely above dive-bar quality. Wine was good, as was the ambience.

I enjoyed my time here, but I won't be back simply due to the fact that someone out there thinks it's a good idea not to list wines by the glass "on purpose" at Anfora. So you have to describe your "preferences" and the bartender will pour you a sample to try, and then another if it turns out the wine you are drinking doesn't match your description (?). I have no idea which wines I tried or drank last night. But if you are kind enough to give me a list of wines by the glass, I know enough about wine (even natural wines) to know which one to choose, thank you very much. That being said, the grilled cheese I ordered was so freaking good. It was made panini style with (I think) taleggio cheese and soppressata. Yes, the cheese stunk up the entire bar, but that was because it was delicious - crunchy, oily, everything you want with your mystery wine. I won't be back but with a sandwich this good I will redouble my efforts to get into L'Artusi (the website claims they are sisters).

We had the absolute best time here on a team event last night being led through a wine tasting with Cody. He was so great to work with in the days leading up to the event so I had high hopes but didn't want to get too excited. We had a group of 8 for work and everything was set up for us when we arrived. All of the wines we tried were unique and excellent. Cody was absolutely fascinating and our whole group was compelled by his story and wine knowledge. I had only been to Anfora once before and enjoyed it but didn't know much about its stance around natural wines and small producers. On top of the wines and experience being amazing I also felt good supporting ethical businesses. The food wasn't necessary but was a lovely touch - everyone raved about the ricotta and the olives were next level good. It was a great light nosh to enjoy alongside the wines. To be honest, I don't have a single complaint or constructive point about the experience. We all had an unbelievably excellent time. I would absolutely recommend for a team event, birthday, you name it. I left feeling like I knew more about wine, appreciated natural wines, and had a good sense for how to buy moving forward. Thanks so much for the excellent hospitality!

This is a cute little spot for a date or to meet friends. The service is good as well. The onion dip is fab. Stick to the wine, that's what they are known for. They don't have a wine list but you just let them know what you like and they bring you something, which is pretty cool. Their cocktails are okay, but their rail vodka is not. So def just stick to the wines.

It was late, it was cold, I was hungry, and most importantly, I wanted wine. I was skeptical about how well an intimate wine bar could make itself covid-safe, but when there's a will there's a way! Anfora built an outdoor seating structure with heaters, and were also offering indoor seating at their big, luxurious booths. The bar seating was closed, so the indoor seating was still limited. They kept the door open and the booths were far apart, so the risk felt minimal. I opted to sit inside given the cold night and never felt uncomfortable from a covid safety perspective. Everyone was wearing masks, and while masks weren't required while seated, I, along with a few others, kept it on unless I was sipping my wine. Speaking of wine, I had a glass of one of the reds they had open. From what I understood, they don't have standard wines by the glass -- it rotates daily and might depend on what's been previously opened that night. I unfortunately don't remember the name of what I had but it was bold and silky, just like I wanted. To nosh, we shared the dolce piccante flatbread, which was basically a mini pepperoni pizza drizzled with a hot honey -- delicious! To cap off the night, my bf got an old fashioned which was very spirit forward, and I went with a glass of port. All very good. I love the intimate, romantic atmosphere. Perfect date spot. Excited to go back!

Nice place for after dinner drinks. Came with a group of five and tried various ones, and all drinks were wonderfully made and delicious -- couldn't find a fault with any of the ones we ordered. Personally got the pineapple daiquiri and it's a great drink for anyone who doesn't like the taste of alcohol or wants a sweet drink.

Wonderful natural wine bar with a focus on old world producers. The staff and space were welcoming, and even when we visited (at around 9pm on a Saturday), the vibe felt very relaxed - which was a surprise and welcome for a trendy West Village spot. Didn't try the food but the wines were spectacular. Really enjoyed their by the glass selection. For those uninitiated, they don't list wines on the menu -- they simply ask you describe to them your preference and they will select something per your taste (all glasses are between $15-20).

Stumbled across this bar in the West Village last night (Saturday 9th) & I'm so incredibly glad I did - I think I've found one of my new 'places'. Ricotta crostini is amazing (I just had a snack - the sea salt really elevates it), and had a Spanish sparkling wine made from indigenous grapes that I adored. They have a very good, very fun wine list focusing on both old world and natural wines however the menu only lists by the bottle; their BTG list changes almost daily and the knowledgable staff will help you find something you like. In short: staff were lovely, the tables were spaced out appropriately, food was bomb & their interior looks incredibly inviting - (excited to step inside when possible) however the outdoor was perfect as it was & the whole experience was so enjoyable. They're doing such a wonderful job & in such an incredibly difficult time, so truly hats off to them - I can't wait to return to support. Also, my mask string snapped (odd sentence to write...) during my visit & the staff kindly provided me with one of their extras. Cheers guys, much appreciated.

Really nice place to have a glass or two. Ambiance. Quiet light. Fun background music. Had a nice plate of hummus and chips. Limited selection of wines by the glass and a great selection of bottles. Ideal place for conversation. Pretty quintessential wine bar worth visiting. Service was excellent. Would go here again on visiting NYC.

Without a doubt - this was the best service I've ever experience in NY dining/drinking. While making our way across town my wife, and two friends, wanted to enjoy some good wine in a nice environment. I found this place on some blog/article, and WOW. When buying by the glass they don't list options, but rather ask what you prefer, and then provide recommendations (and let you taste). Our server absolutely nailed everyone's requests, as we ventured into different preferences he kept succeeding. Whether it was a full-bodied red wine, a funky orange, or a light white he knew his wines through and through, and delivered an amazing experience. This is a 10/10 in service, atmosphere and tasty options. No clue about the food, but if you're looking for a marvelous wine bar that leans into natural options this is one of the best in the city (and we tried a LOT of places).

The whiskey was terrible, service was rude and place was overrated. I ordered an old fashion and it was made with the whiskey you'd find at a college bar called "Murphy's". The menu implies you'll be given wine by the glass based on your taste. This is not the case. There are a few bottles available that have nothing to do based on what your pallet is. At the end of the day, the waiter was rude. He was visibly annoyed at the mystery wine we were given and did not enjoy. To top it off, we weren't able to even split the bill. Overpriced and overrated.

Don't come here without a significant other. No seriously, literally no one in here is single. Also everyone is on a male with female date. I came here for a date appropriately. Thankfully my date and I got along because whew if I had left him or he left me there solo it'd be awkward. Looking aside from that atmosphere this place is very romantic. Dim lit with cozy booths. A perfect scenario for your wining and dining (on little snacks). I enjoyed the wine list which was in a foreign language for me not being a wino. They have some good cocktails and beers. The prices are very West west village so don't come here looking for a bargain. This is a classy joint. We got some crostini which was on point. My favorites are the chorizo and ricotta. So yes indulge in a special date with your lady or man here. But don't be super hungry.

Single Lady Going Out Friday night After work me, myself and I Overdue and long awaited to shoot libation Customer service is somewhat attentive but not overall welcoming nor warmly inviting with radiant smile as it was stolid and robotic. My male server did not offer any suggestions as to what genre of wine I like either red, white or rosé. The cheese and meat selection were limited as there is no French Brie and this is a French wine tapas business. I did not see any French baguette or multi seed crackers on the menu to accompany wine. I am enamored with French Brie cheese and multi seed crackers. Please do not distribute standard saltine crackers as it portrays food ration and shrinkage of food supply which I desire quality without compromise. The wine menu selection for Anfora is extensive as there are also cocktails available. No comment on food as I did not intake any since it did not entice my interest. Hooks are available under the bar counter for jacket and bag placement. Happy Hour is at irregular times as the male bartender did not disclose details which implies it is a secret. Atmospheric conditions appear romantic and intimate for couples take dates to gaze into each other's eyes. Domaine du Clos Roussely, Touraine Sauvignon Blanc 2017 (Touraine, Loire, France) $15 Served chilled and in a large goblet which enable me to unwind in a phlegmatic disposition. This wine was average.

Friendly staff, young professional crowd, and a great selection of wine and cocktails. This place is great for a glass or two while nibbling on tapas. While there were a few seats at the bar when we arrived around 8, it gets packed quickly. We appreciated the laid back feel, attentive service, and solid drink selection.

I don't usually write short reviews. But the service is friendly, they have an amazing selection of wine -- got to try orange wine for the first time! It's pretty interesting. The server warned us it might be a little funky for our liking, but I liked it a lot. Go for it. For food, just get the ricotta crostini. Enough said.

One of the best natural wine bars in the city (and arguably the US). Amazing, diverse wine and drinkselection. Extremely knowledgeable staff. Food is also great - get the lasagna if you don't want to wait 4 hours for a table at l'artusi. It's worth a trip to the west village all by itself.

I'm not often compelled to write reviews for any kind of establishment, but since my mid pandemic escapade buying wines from kind restaurant's cellar I've found myself bringing and recommending this place to everyone in my life. This place is a gem amongst a neighborhood full. You won't find a staff more generous with their time or more gracious. It's hard to feel like a local in NYC restaurants/bars, but they've done exceptionally well creating an atmosphere for all wine lovers. For any person even semi interested in wine, this is the place. The amount you can learn in one sitting while drinking from one of NYC's best wine bar lists is unmatched. Can't wait to see this place when NYC is fully back

Intimate and warm. A great spot for a date or post-dinner drinks. Fair warning, it is quite small so make reservations in advance! For food, get the ricotta crostini. Ask the server for recommendations, they're more than happy to help. Pricey at ~$20 per glass, but definitely a treat to savor.

I would give this place 0 stars if possible. Let's start off with the awful stench of cheese everywhere...off putting as hell. Then I ordered a light and sweet white wine, my friend preferred a dry wine. The waiter gave us the same bar saying he thought we'd like the same thing -- we did not. He brought out a second wine that tasted like a watered down cider. The waiter was rude and not welcoming.

Adorable! The perfect little date spot! I loved it from the second I walked in, there's a small bar and a few high top tables with a couch that wraps around. You could tell a lot of people were on dates. They have a cute cocktail and wine menu. We ended up with a bottle of French white. Happy to report the waitress did know her wine, yay. The food menu is fairly selective, cheese, olives, charcuterie, small crostinis and sandwiches. We did their three cheeses for $15. I was a fan, you can small pieces of cheese with bread and some accompaniments. We also ordered 4 crostinis; they were all good. My only complaint was the service. They had two people busting their butts for an entire restaurant. They were both super sweet though! Adorable spot, I'll definitely be back!

6-stars!!! This place has no shortage of amazing reviews so I will pile on one more, there is next to noting wrong with this place. I eat and drink out a ton (maybe a little too much), and this is the crown jewel in my collection in a very, very long time. Set the scene: I was supposed to meet someone next door at one of the sister restaurants of Anfora . Not important only pertinent to how the story ends. I arrived to Anfora about an hour prior to my reservation next door. The place is dimly-lit with a number of tables down the left side of the place. The right side is a perfectly situated bar. By that I mean, its not the full ride side of the place, it has candles up and down it, the bartendress (is that a word, she was fantastical...come to think of it, is that a word?, dont care). She was so good, she's got me making up words. More about this bar. I think you should sit at it: Its perfect for people watching (if you pick an end, obviously) and they have all you could need, food, drink, banter with said, bartendress. Just do it, trust. I think you would also be remiss if you don't ask whomever is behind the bar what kind of wine you should be drinking. That's part of the reason they are there, and most of the time they know way more than you, certainly about what they are serving. I did this and I loved the 3 different glasses I had. You should too. That said, I also decided to order some food. Highly recommend. They have light-bites, though you could definitely make them into a decent meal. I had 4 different crustinis, each better than the rest. I'm pressure they are 4 for $10 and there are 5 options. I would skip the mushroom one, not my favorite. The wine is reasonably-priced and fantastic, each. They have options that you might not have heard of but read above: ask. There were many dates here and it seemed like a perfect spot for a date...so, I cancelled my reservation next door and turned Anfora into my meeting spot. Zero regrets. My new favorite spot.

This is one of my favorite bars / wine bars to go to in New York City. The natural wine selection is unbeatable, and the expertise is all wines is unmatched. Even during COVID everyone at Anfora went above and beyond in terms of service and quality of drinks / wines. Oh and don't sleep on the food - incredible!

Great crowd - I'd say mid-30s, professionals, stylish. Nice ambiance reminiscent of most wine bars. Place filled up pretty quickly for a Wednesday. Really impressive wine menu, ranging all over the world and different styles (Orange, etc.). We only had the mushroom flatbread, but it was everything you could imagine. Overall, good vibes and good wine.

Excellent wine bar. I have been a few times and it has never disappointing me. Mostly seating space but some standing room at the bar as well. Pros: Great wine selection (even has orange wines), attentive service, exclusive atmosphere, sophisticated well-dressed crowd. Cons: Not in my neighborhood. Why must all the cutest places be in West Village? :-P

I've loved this place for years, but hadn't visited much since before the pandemic, until recently... The natural wines are still delicious, but their menu has completely changed! There's no more by-the-glass list, and you have to describe what kind of wine you want to the bartender, who then magically shows up with the perfect selection, often from somewhere completely new and exciting (I'm looking at you, orange wine from the Czech Republic). It's a safe and delicious West Village treat. See you again soon Anfora.

The Quick: Really perfect spot for happy hour in the West Village, with the exposed brick, candle lights everywhere, and delicious wine and tapas. Overall a fantastic date spot or night with the girls. The Details: This is just a really classy, cozy spot in the West Village. The happy hour has pretty nice specials, and the bar tapas are delicious. The crostini are great, very flavorful yet small and inexpensive-- the perfect happy hour snack. The ricotta with honey is the obvious winner here. Worth a visit. Note it was extremely crowded until about 7pm on a Wednesday. I personally would not go during prime time happy hour or on a Friday unless you can get there early. If you don't have a seat at the bar or table, there's nowhere to really stand and chat. The Damage: A bottle of wine and an order of crostini (four total) was $48 pre-tax and tip.

Awesome place in West Village that We stumbled upon late on a Sunday night! Amazing Wine choices and our Waiter Sean was Excellent with all his recommendations! Check out the Montepluciano Blend! And the "Today's Cheese Board" on the menu was yummy! AND Chef Brian was just the Best ... ask him about his "Honey Ricotta Special" with Lemon Zest!!! Just Delish! Highly recommend!

Quiet local spot with expensive drinks. Stopped by here after dinner to get a little more liquored up. The bartender was nice but seemed more attentive to discussing art with his friends who stopped by for free drinks. Good thing is he knows how to make strong drinks so I didn't mind much. His lemon drop shot was pretty bitter and tasted like floor cleaner. The atmosphere was hipster and there were only like 4 other people in the bar on a Tuesday night. Needless to say, we stayed for one round and left this sleepy little bar.

Very happening and too loud for its own good. Perhaps you should stop by on a weekday and not a weekend like I did. It may be more enjoyable.

I found this place while looking for wine bars open past midnight on a Wednesday night and wasn't expecting anything fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised! The best part about Anfora is definitely their wine list. They had a lot of wines that you don't typically see on wine lists, which as a wine person, I really appreciate. I had the Malvasia from Slovenia and the Saperavi from Georgia, both of which were fantastic. It was great to see some orange wines on the list too. The atmosphere was very modern and service was great. It was wonderful to find a place open past midnight during the week that also had a list with tons of interesting things. They also have half priced magnums after midnight! I'd definitely go back.

Stumbled upon this cute little wine/cocktail bar with my friend who was visiting from out of the country last night. It's very small and intimate, and we immediately found two seats at the bar. They have coat hooks under the bar, guys! I hate going out and not having anywhere to put my stuff, and especially with bar stools without backs. The bartenders there were very friendly women, and as soon as we took our seats one of them served us some water and gave us the menu, which is pretty big for a small spot. This is definitely a "treat yo self" sort of place, but I didn't mind that. I got the White Thai witbier (on tap), which is great if you don't like anything too hoppy, or hate stouts. It was fresh and slightly citrusy, so if you like Blue Moon, Dogfish Head Namaste, Shock Top, etc., try that one. I didn't try any of the wine or cocktails but the wine list looked pretty good, with offerings from seemingly everywhere. When we got there a bit around 8, the place was pretty packed and noisy, but an hour and a half later it quieted down some. If you're looking for more quiet AND intimate, I would suggest coming later on a weekday, or possibly going for a drink before dinner when they open at 5pm.

I was so excited to come back to one of my favorite wine bars after the pandemic. Since they don't take reservations, I went on a rainy Sunday evening with a party of 2 at 6:00pm. Business was doing well so they didn't have room for us so I suggested that I leave my name and they can call me when there is room. The man at the door would not take my name even though I was going to be standing right outside (in the rain). There wasn't any solution offered. Instead of taking names -!: just calling me when my table was ready, I was told to keep asking if there was space. Very inefficient and not very customer forward. We went somewhere else to support local business since they didn't seem to need mine.

Came with a couple of friends after a day at the Whitney checking out the Warhol exhibit. Very cozy with an excellent selection of wine and small plates. We had the charcuterie and cheese board, crab crostinis, burrata, and chicken liver mouse. All were excellent and fairly priced. They make the food right at the bar so I'm very impressed at the quality of the food they were delivering at a quick pace. The cheese board portions were a little small and prosciutto was more of a tapas take than a traditional charcuterie. Chicken liver mousse was tangy and spicy and overall very pleasant. Burrata very creamy and fresh. Would definitely advise this place for a post-Museum visit or great afternoon/ early evening spot in the area.

I've been here more than a handful of times over the past two years. The menu has great cocktails, and the service is always top notch. The space is small, but the staff is always happy to help find a table once something opens up. Definitely recommend this place for dates and small gatherings.

What a gem of a bar! The staff paid extra attention to the Covid rules and my date and I felt completely safe, almost as if everything was back to normal! The bartender made a great margarita (extra sweet at my request) and the General Manager Cody found the perfect bottle of wine for my date. Highly recommended - and don't forget to order the mussels escabeche!

The Short and Simple - Great date spot - Intimate and great dark lighting - Wonderful selection of wines and servers to help you choose based on your taste Food: N/A I didn't have any of the food so I can't comment on that Wine: 5* I was very happy with the wine selection. I know what I typically like and to be honest, the menu was pretty much reading French...and I can't read French. But the server was extremely helpful. I know the types of flavors I like and told my server. She was able to recommend one that really hit the spot. I had three different glasses of wine and each one was different and recommended by her, based on my taste, and she nailed it each time. Their wine menu also changes based on the seasons as well. Customer Service: 5* My server was attentive but not too overbearing. She had a great knowledge of the wines and was able to recommend great wine based on our taste. Atmosphere/Experience: 5* I was on a date and was lucky to find two seats at the bar. They also have tables and (i think couches? - I could be wrong) that you could sit as well. I got here around 7p and it was already packed. It's a great spot for a date. The lighting is dark and intimate and definitely screams date spot. You can't go wrong here! Enjoy!

Fantastic wine selection. Esoteric bottles from wonderful places in the world. Half priced magnums after midnight, great bonus for hard working sommeliers looking for a night cap ( or two...three...four )

Nice, dark, cozy, if not nondescript bar in the Village. Came here after a hefty meal to meet up with some friends. The booths are cozy and the drinks are stiff enough. Not much else you can ask for or say about it. I could see myself going back, but right now can't think of any specific reason why I would do that. Yeah, it's like that...

Two bad experiences in 24 hours. Met friends for late night drinks. It was freezing! The vents blow cold air onto patrons. One of of group was actually shivering. The staff said they couldn't turn it off the cold air because it was actually the vents from the wine room. What? Second bad experience: Left my credit card. Called three times the next day. Manager lied and said they didn't have my card. Didn't believe them so went to the bar myself and picked up my card. While our waiter was nice, I got the distinct impression that this is a place that doesn't care about its customers. Won't be going back.

This is a neighborhood hotspot, and for good reason. I stopped in for happy hour with a few friends and grabbed a spot at a high top table in the middle of the space. Cocktails were top notch - I recommend the old fashioned. Although I didn't get food, it did look good. My only minor piece of feedback is that I wish there was a more extensive food menu.

I've now been here on three separate occasions (must be a good sign that I keep coming back!), and I've found that it's the perfect spot for a date or for a classy glass of wine with a friend. On a Thursday night, the bar was quite full, but we were still able to nab a table. It's romantic and intimate, but can also be on the louder side on a busy night like this. In terms of the wine, they have an interesting selection. While I consider myself fairly well-versed in different grapes, I didn't see very many names I was familiar with. That said, when I ordered one and disliked taste, the bartender was very understanding and helped me choose another one that was more suited for me. My friend also was unfamiliar with the wines and also given a recommendation that she ended up really enjoying. We also ordered the crostini and the olives. The ricotta crostini were quite delicious, but I was disappointed with the mushroom and the artichoke. The "small bites" selection perhaps has some room for improvement. Overall, great spot. Will definitely be back, with friends or with a date!

Great spot with an impressive wine list and good crowd. The service was on point-the bartenders were knowledgeable and helpful with all of my wine questions, you could tell that they enjoy talking about the wine (fiero bianco is a must try). Tasty bites-camembert, pate, flatbreads (try the carne, ham & maple are perfect together). I will definitely be back.

All wines by glass is organic. I drank the rose and it was good. Came on tues at 9:30 and there was plenty of seating. Good date spot as it is an intimate setting. Good AC too!

Intimate date spot with good drinks, service, and ambience. I came here on a Thursday night and was able to get a seat at the bar (ideal seating for first dates). You can also opt to sit at one of the many high top tables against the wall. The wine list is pretty extensive, though on the pricey side. The food section is typical of a wine bar--charcuterie and cheese boards, small salads, sandwiches, and flatbreads. Overall, a good first date spot. I don't recommend coming here for after work drinks with friends because you'll feel out of place.

Interesting drinks, way overpriced food! You don't even get quality sandwiches. I understand that we're in New York and everything is overpriced but my Cuban sandwich was a joke!

Best drinks I had in NYC & paired with the most amazing creamy fluffly ricotta toast, you really can't go wrong coming here! We started our night off here after dinner & it did not disappoint. We each ordered a different drink which I can't remember the name but they were all delicious! One tasted like earl grey tea, another had kombucha in it & one had this smokiness to the drink. They were all so unique and so full of flavor! But the ricotta toast we had was just about the best thing I've ever ate. If I was apart of Food Network, this is what I would choose. The ricotta is creamy, fresh & just so heavenly. It's drizzled with honey for the right amount of sweetness! If you come here you MUST get it. Service here was outstanding! The bartenders were so friendly! Really this would be my go-to for Friday night drinks after work.

The host was so inexplicably unwelcoming and rude that we didn't stay to try the food but will certainly never come back.

Nice, cozy wine bar. I came here with three coworkers and we were seated immediately at a table in the back. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and ordered some cheese to go with it - the cheese was delicious! Service was good. The seating was a bit strange/akward though, with the booth and the chairs being at different heights.

Anfora has some potential elements to be one of those talked about scenes and convince you to stay waiting for a table in line, or at the bar while it is jam packed like sales event at Bloomingdales. It was one of those weekend nights. The bar is pretty with everything new and stylish lightings. Fairly attractive crowds.The staffs are friendly to talk to but nothing so ancient Greek or Roman about like the name Anfora - the ancient ceramic vases. Instead it carries a clear modern italian vibe. They had an intersting wine list with little cheese plates and tapas(very very tiny) provided by the famous Dell'Anima next door. The spice cookie someone offered me was very delightful which I still remember after long since I've visited Anfora. The glass of rioja wine was good (Thanks to Laura A. I had had thousands of Riojas and Albarinos in recent years than any to support her national and reginal pride. LOL), the NY local creamery farmer's cheese plate ($8) that I got after the one I've ordered being sold out, was great as well. But tiny... Converstations flowing while wines making my cheeks rosy. Having a good time at Anfora. Though..... I wouldn't jump in joy if someone suggests Anfora for drinks since it definitely lacks an intimacy which wine lovers prefer. So that they can enjoy the wine rather than unpurposely eavesdropping converstations from large GNO (girls night out) groups or staring ceilings to avoid the eyes of those guys who sits alone at the bar to looking for an opportunities unless you enjoy it. It is extremely loud. It is extremely busy. I would say feeling like a beer bar than a wine bar except for the dressed up crowds. My voice was turning husky after shouting too much. Maybe I should take my wines and cheeses to go. Maybe if I had come on a week night, I would be able to enjoy more. Maybe you can try on a week night and you let me know. Thanks.

I came here with my dope date last night. DAYUM, this west village bar/lounge is so money. MONEY. Cozy, dark, romantic decor, candles everywhere, attentive bartenders, all sorts of wine options, craft beers on tap, beautiful patrons, large couches, dimly-lit corners to snuggle in...this is a legit date spot. We def enjoyed this spot's intimate elements.
