The 13 Best Restaurants, Bars, and Cafes in Sisters | Eater Portland

"This cozy, colorful bakery a block off the main drag has been specializing in gluten-free, vegan, and dairy-free delights for 28 years. The naturally vegan bagels are worth the trip alone as they are the best in Central Oregon. In the morning, customers opt for the scones, cinnamon rolls and the like. By afternoon they’re back for the cookies. Quinoa salads, soups, and burritos shine as much as the baked goods. For something different, pick up a stromboli or try the tofu curry Wrapture that adds zest to fresh spinach, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and green pepper wrapped in a whole-wheat tortilla." - Barb Gonzalez

Very good bagel sandwich!! Personally fell in love with all the different cream cheese spread options they have, especially the sun-dried tomato. Ladies working up front were very accommodating and friendly, and got our food out quickly and quality.

I have been coming here for over 20 years and I will never stop raving about how amazing Angeline’s is. The cheddar herb bagel with cucumber dill cream cheese is the most delicious bagel and the staff is always so kind and accommodating. My husband and I were there this morning and we both left smiling after our interaction with the sweet staff. 10/10 would recommend!

WOW, what a great place! After I did a Google search for bakeries in Sisters, Oregon, this place didn't even come up? I stumbled across it while exploring the town, it's one street over from the main Cascade Street that most tourists stay on with all the tourists shops. I want to remind everyone to go farther off the beaten path and see what you can find. Angeline's is a gem! The homemade bagels are to die for. I had mine with cream cheese and believe me they put lots on there. They have lots to choose from and I was impressed that they even had some vegan and gluten free choices. The shop is really cute and there is some seating, prices aren't bad considering I'm from Illinois and I know what bad is... The staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely check this place out. I know the next time I'm visiting from Illinois this will be my first stop!

I happened to stumble on this place while traveling thru Sisters. They have a great menu that includes vegan & gf options. I had the egg/chz Sammy on a cheesy bagel..delish! I also had a mocha with oat milk that was so tasty. While I sat in the corner planning my next boon docking spot, I observed staff friendly to all the customers that came & went. They have a nice seating area outside as well. It's always so nice to stop in a friendly place, have a nice breakfast to begin a day of travel. If I lived here, this place would definitely be my go-to. I'd add a pic of my food, but it's all gone!

Unfortunately I have started coming here less & less due to the constant burnt bagels. If you get your order to go, make sure it’s not BURNT before you leave. An extra toast on a bagel doesn’t mean for it to be burnt. I was able to eat the one half that wasn’t too burnt but the other half was too burnt (picture). The toaster or whomever is operating it needs to get adjusted. If it’s burnt, why hand it out? Like you can see but also feel how tough the bagel is when prepping the bagel. Also, wtf is this type of chai tea is this?! It’s like sludge! My boss asked me what I was drinking so I popped the lid off & found this. I thought I was feeling sick from not eating enough food but now I think it’s from whatever I’ve been drinking. I’ve NEVER had a chai like this from this cafe before. I’m stunned this place is going downhill so quickly. It used to be so good.

Google
Excellent bakery with many gluten free and vegan choices. I am not vegan or GF and i had chocolate banana bread that is GF and vegan and I couldn't tell. Breakfast burrito was packed with flavor. Cucumber dill cream cheese was tasty.

Google
Bright, colorful atmosphere! Was passing through and needed a breakfast sandwich! Staff was super friendly! Huge rush came in right after we ordered and they cleared the place out in 10 mins with all the togo orders! Honestly a solid sandwich and coffee/smoothie shop! House made bagels, very fluffy and fresh! Great vegan/vegetarian options! Wonderful fresh made power drinks! I got the ginger and orange! Very tasty! All day breakfast sandwiches! Lots of healthy options with a friendly staff! They've even got some killer cinnamon rolls! Would stop again!

Google
I came here during the Sisters outdoor quilt show on 7/12, so the place was quite busy. I appreciate how the staff were working hard to quickly take and make orders. I ordered the breakfast burrito and a brownie with crushed walnuts on top, both vegan items. Vegan items were clearly marked on the menu, which was great to see for a small-town eatery. The burrito had plain black beans and slightly undercooked potatoes in it. Kinda disappointing. The pico de gallo on the side was great though, very fresh tomatoes. The brownie was cake-like and pretty good. I'd come back to try more vegan pastries/desserts!

Yelp
Nice selection of coffee, breakfast and lunch food that is complete with vegan options. Outdoor seating that is a bit lackluster, yet a nice option. Friendly staff, for the most part, hence the 4 stars.

Yelp
These are my favorite bagels in Central Oregon! They're always well made and loaded with cream cheese.

Yelp
We stopped at this bakery at the suggestion of a friend of mine who lives in Bend. We were on our way over to Belknap Hot Springs for a soak and we're passing through Sisters on our way. I popped into this small and cozy bakery café to find a few locals hanging out and a friendly counter person ready to assist. I ordered the mango blueberry banana smoothie which was really tasty as well as a strawberry scone. I don't know about you but I love scones and usually they're not as moist and delicious as this one was. Also it's hard to find strawberry scones usually they come in blueberry or plain flavors.. Wish I had pictures but we kind of devoured them quickly since they were so good. Perfect stop to grab some thing if you're passing through Sisters.

Yelp
Every item met it exceeded our expectations, owners were very professional and assisted us in selecting the best items

Yelp
We have been driving past Angeline's Bakery & Cafe for a couple of years and been discouraged by the long lines. Today there was no line, open tables outside, and a parking space! The line inside was short. I ordered a Breakfast Burrito and a Strawberry, Pipeapple, and Banana Smoothie. My wife ordered an Egg and Cheese Bagel Sandwich and an iced mocha. The food was excellent. The only slight negative was the chucks of pineapple in my smoothie. I want to go back to Angeline's Bakery & Cafe and try their bagels and carrot cake. PS. The song "Angeline The Baker" has been stuck in my head all day.

Yelp
We are sorry we didn't take photos of the pastries and the groovy mugs to share here. Couldn't have enjoyed this stop more. After two weeks of road tripping and stopping for coffee and pastries daily this last day gave us this gem!

Yelp
My mom's cucumber dill cream cheese on cheesy herb bagel. Fantastic!! I got plain cream cheese on poppy seed bagel and it was literally the best bagel and cream cheese ive ever eaten. Homemade bagel and the cream cheese was definitely made in house. Sooo fresh!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! So many GF & Vegan options are available.. Usually its either one or the other but BOTH is what my dietary needs call for. So whenever Im in Sisters, this is my first stop. Must haves are their Jam Jams! I get one every time; their Orange Gingerbread Cake is a close second. Dustin (and the whole crew) is knowledgeable about all the pastries and sandwiches and doesn't mind giving you the low down. We didn't feel rushed and the Sunday crew were genuine and happy to help.

Yelp
Food was really good! Reasonably priced. The service was friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere.

Yelp
This would be a five star review in a heartbeat except I was kept waiting for over 15 minutes because their toaster for gluten free bread is not working properly. For gods sake Bimart is 5 minutes away and it's not as if you're using a $100 toaster!!! My bread was barely toasted for my sandwich. I would like to come back and try a sandwich again when the bread is toasted properly. Because the sandwich was good and the staff was incredible apologizing again and again when they aren't responsible for faulty equipment. I really want to give three stars but the staff is too darn great!!!
google avatar

Mac L.

Yelp
Breakfast was great! Service awesome as well! Cool place we will be back. Baked goods and coffee great!
google avatar

Crystal G.

Yelp
This place is a popular spot, we had to wait a bit in line but I don't mind that, especially if the food's worth it. I ordered a plain untoasted bagel, which I didn't even eat until the following day. It might possibly have been the best bagel I ever ate in my entire life, wow! I also had the vegan zucchini lemon poppy seed bread. Again, absolutely amazing. My partner ordered the cheesy herb bagel with the smoakin' salmon spread and he loved it. He also really liked their drip coffee. It's not the cheapest place, but you get what you pay for: great quality. Would visit ten times over.

Yelp
My extended family has food problems -- allergies, can't have gluten, one eats only vegan food. When they visit town it sure is nice to have a place we can all enjoy. I like to stop in for their fresh baked bagels and cream cheese. You can choose from a bunch of different types of cream cheese, you can make it a breakfast sandwich with real or vegan fake egg. Pretty good salads, there's also pasta and soups sometimes. Here's a surprise: that "vegan brownie" is phenomenal. I guess brownies don't really need butter or milk in them to taste outstanding. We like that they offer drip coffee, just regular coffee in an air-pot. The wife and I don't always want a fancy frothy espresso drink that costs $7 like we end up getting at coffee places around Sisters and Bend. Best is when there is still decaf in the afternoon at Angeline's, it gives me a lift without making it hard to sleep at night. Can be unpredictable/uneven, in service and in food quickness/quality. Most of their front staff is friendly and efficient, though. Wish they stayed open past 3 pm.

Yelp
The baked goods are fantastic. Best bagels anywhere. Extensive selection of gluten free options. Nice location off the main drag. The Marion berry cinnamon roll was awesome.
google avatar

Nan H.

Yelp
Turkey and veggie wraps just OK, fillings skimpy. They were out of many spreads. When I picked them up there were no chips with them and when I asked, he said "sorry we are all out". BUT I was still charged same price! Really? How about a small refund or a substitution, maybe a cookie? Doubt if we'll be back since quality seems to be going downhill.

Hillary F.

Yelp
I stopped here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. There was a large line but it moved fast and the wait was not long at all. I ordered the Egg and Cheese Bagel Sandwich and a marionberry scone. I enjoyed both, and as it turns out, egg and cream cheese on the same breakfast sandwich is a really underrated combination.
google avatar

Katherine G.

Yelp
Welcoming staff and delicious sandwiches. Coffee from a local roaster and rolls made fresh. Right off the main drag, and wonderful place to stop and get a snack. The sandwich is amazing!!!! It came warm with a turkey that stated like it had been brined. It was sweet and delicate. The focaccia tasted like an Italian Nona had just taken it out of her oven.... I am complexly mind blown. I haven't eaten it yet, but I'm looking forward to my fresh Marion berry scone if the sandwich is this amazing... I can't imagine how great my scone is gonna be.

Yelp
Outstanding service and wonderful options for vegan, gluten-free, and vegetarian. I have taken many friends who are not vegan or GF and they have remarked it's some of the best pastries they've had. Favorites include the jam jam, vegan "egg" bagel sandwich, chocolate gf vegan cupcake, vegan Caesar salad, tofu curry salad, tempeh bowl and gf vegan cornbread.
google avatar

Aimee C.

Yelp
I absolutely love this cute little cafe that is tucked away in Sister's, OR. The food is fresh, and the vegan carrot cake is delicious. I had the turkey and veggie wrap with a cup of potato dill soup.
google avatar

Carrie G.

Yelp
We waited a bit too long for 2 coffees and 2 pastries (20 minutes) despite just a few people ahead of us in line. The gluten free banana chocolate chip bread has a mealy sandy texture. Pretty much inedible. The vegan carrot cake was decent. Moist and the frosting was food but it could have a bit more pizzaz with some nuts or seasoning in the batter. The house coffee was not good quality and they added way too much cream and sugar (they don't have any do it yourself fixens). The mocha was decent. The main reason for a less than stellar rating was the service was snippy. I asked which cup was the mocha and the girl who served them scoffed the answer like it was the biggest inconvenience to her existence. No bathroom is available. There's a sign saying to use the one at the park 2 blocks away. $16 for an overall mediocre stop. I like to support small businesses but I feel like this place was worth passing by and finding a different spot.

Mindi A.

Yelp
This is a great place to find gluten free and vegan options! There are plenty of things to choose from and the service was great.
google avatar

Connie J.

Yelp
My favorite when visiting Sisters!!! Bagel sandwich, iced mocha, oatmeal cookie! The have gluten free stuff and vegan options!!!
google avatar

DJ G.

Yelp
It's a good thing Angeline's isn't in Bend (where I live) or I'd weigh 50 pounds more. Instead, I create excuses to get up to Sisters - "Hey, we haven't hiked Tam McArthur Rim in awhile..." Why go here? Friendly staff. Delicious food with many vegan options. Pastries that have improved my bike rides near Sisters by about 57 times. Vegan breakfast bagels that up the ante on hikes. On a recent bikepacking trip, my friend and I bought seven pastries on our way through Sisters. SEVEN. Annnnd we were sad the next day that we hadn't bought more. Do yourself a favor and stop at Angeline's!
google avatar

Katy F.

Yelp
I had a lovely afternoon meal at Angeline's after my hike up and around Smith Rock. I enjoyed the vegan breakfast burrito a lot. It was very hearty! I also liked the green juice I got from the front reach in. It was just what I needed to rehydrate and replenish.
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
I love love love Angelina's! AlwYs excellent service. Fresh delicious vegan baked treats and COFFEE! There is nothing not to love. It's tiny but gas cozy seating, smells so good, and a beautiful ambience! Will be back on my next Sisters trip :)
google avatar

Mandy A.

Yelp
Really unimpressed! When you ask for something they are out of they are rude about it even though there is no where that shows they are out. They are very slow, unorganized and chaotic. And every staff member we encountered was very rude. We won't be back. Over priced for mediocre, food, slow (waited an hour for a basic bagel sandwich) and rude customer service!
google avatar

Nathan L.

Yelp
Are you vegan? Basically the only option in sisters. Are you not a vegan, but thinking of becoming one? Still pretty good.
google avatar

Clint W.

Yelp
Not a fan. This is a quaint little hipster looking place. Clean and neat with very friendly people. I've had a bagel here a time or two, and they're good, but almost all of their baked goods are gluten free and vegan. Sorry, not my cup of tea. I like butter in my baked goods. Stopped in today for a cup of coffee. Very weak and watery. Sorry folks, just doesn't get me going. If you're in to vegan and gluten free, apparently their stuff is good, or so I've heard. But you couldn't prove it by me. I much prefer the competition in town. Even for gluten free, or vegan items, and certainly for coffee.

Anna S.

Yelp
love this place. it is simply the BEST!!! We go every single time we are in sisters at least twice. sooooo good. Best vegan bagel sandwiches.
google avatar

Maracuja M.

Yelp
Delicious bagels and friendly staff. There are many bagel & spread options to choose from, just ask the staff if you can't find them on the menu posted outside the store.

Susan H.

Yelp
There food is always delicious and fresh. We always enjoy having breakfast here. There baked goods are amazing and can't leave without bringing a few home
google avatar

Natasha P.

Yelp
Super cute bright cafe. Get here early has there is usually a line. A lot of vegan and vegetarian options to chose from. I, however, opted for the bagels. I'm not much of a bagel person but I absolutely love the bagels. You can certainly tell that they are homemade.
google avatar

Mitch L.

Yelp
Pesto Turkey melt was amazing and on fresh out of the oven focaccia. Tofu curry wrap was a winner with wife and son. Smoothies delish. Spinach mushroom Quiche was very good too. Definitely worth coming to, dont let the vegan twist scare you off. Everything was great and gave our vegetarian friends good options.

Grizzy L.

Yelp
Love visiting this sweet spot. They have delicious good options and gluten free treats too! The staff is great and it's just a fun spot!
google avatar

Vanessa B.

Yelp
These bagels were delicious! Tasted freshly made and I will be back! I just got a poppy seed bagel with honey walnut spread but will certainly try a bigger breakfast or lunch bagel next time! Yumm! Totally a place I'd get bulk bagels to go!
google avatar

Missy F.

Yelp
Great little place right off the main strip of Sister's. I wasn't necessarily looking for gluten free or vegan options but they had both alongside the other items on their menu. Everything was fresh, made pretty quickly and very tasty. If you love cream cheese, they have plain as well as several flavor options that they make there and they don't skimp on the cream cheese. We had bagel breakfast sandwiches, as well as a few pastries and everything including the service was great. They were super busy and it's not a big place but they still got us out of there within 10 minutes of ordering. Definitely give them a try.
google avatar

Angelica D.

Yelp
Delicious gluten free and vegan pastries! Never been disappointed by something here. The pumpkin spice bread is my favorite at the moment!
google avatar

Jenny S.

Yelp
I ordered a breakfast bagel sandwich which was really tasty. Next time I might ask them to skip the mustard, but that's just my personal preference. I also got a rice crispy treat that was very good. Wish I'd gotten another for the road on my way out of town. My hot chocolate may not have been mixed enough. It was pretty flavorless most of the way through and once I got to the last quarter of it, I suddenly found all of the chocolate that wasn't present in the first 3/4s. I would eat there again, but definitely skip the cocoa.

Lynne J.

Yelp
We had breakfast and lunch here both times we passed through Sisters this week. Everything we had was fantastic - baked goods, bagel sandos, burritos, even the coffee. Angeline knows what's up. We'll be back.
google avatar

Kiki H.

Yelp
Happy to see Angeline's is still thriving during the pandemic! Basically they've blocked off the door and made it into a make shift to go window. Cannot go inside. You can see some of the baked goods right there. When I arrived around 11am they did not seem to have as big of a selection as usual but still had what I came for- the amazing cinnamon rolls! Social distancing was kind of enforced (there weren't designated marks for lines but people seemed to be respectful where they stood and for the most part wore masks) and the line is right next to some outdoor seating where people aren't wearing masks, in case that bothers you. They did not seem to allow access to their bathroom inside. Overall felt pretty safe, I'd give it an 8/10.
google avatar

Abi A.

Yelp
Loved the vegan options here. Sesame tempeh bowl, roasted veggie curry bowl and green salad were amazing. Felt light after lunch because food wasn't oily or processed so much. Healthy option in this area!
google avatar

Deb O.

Yelp
So far I had the Ginger Cake, OMG--Awesome Deliciousness--highly recommend!!!--wish I had a picture but I ate it to quickly!
google avatar

Kressa M.

Yelp
Got this recommendation from our waitress in Bend as we made our way up to Portland. The menu is currently, limited, Bagel Sandwichbut honestly, still a great selection. Ended up with the bagel sandwich with Turkey. Staff was incredibly friendly, lots of outside seating, scones were delish also. Worth the stop for sure.
google avatar

Jen K.

Yelp
Still a favorite spot for me in Sisters, here are a few recent discoveries to supplement my earlier review: 1) Breakfast options in Sisters are minimal during the week. In addition to a fantastic selection of pasties, Angeline's also offers breakfast burritos and a hearty Egg and Cheese Bagel Sandwich (your choice of bagel with egg, cheese, spinach, tomato and cream cheese). 2) The large backyard behind the bakery has a stage and is a venue for Festive Fridays evening concerts during the summer months - http://angelinesbakery.com/category/music-art/ Cover varies from $5-10,
google avatar

Nicole J.

Yelp
Delicious with vegan and gluten free options . Also very cute , and they follow covid precaution

Erica N.

Yelp
Greeted with a smile! Clean. Comfortable. Warm. Nice music. Yeah, start your day off here!
google avatar

Kat S.

Yelp
This is a small place, with vegan and GF pastries, which is already high on my list. The food itself is awesome but giving it 4 stars for a couple of reasons: the vibe is very hipster which is cool, but almost feels disorganized, not the best ambiance. Also, service is slow ish because the same person that rings you up, is the one who serves you the food. If you have the time and vegan/GF is your thing, I suggest checking this place out.
google avatar

Amber S.

Yelp
Walking in, the place smelled of sewage and mildew. Menu was hard to read, but my friends said their food was good. They ordered the salad special in a large. I asked for the same thing but small. When the food got to our table, my plate was very obviously lacking any 'salad' compared to my friends. Literally just rice and beans. That would have been no problem except when I brought the lack of salad to the staffs attention, they acted annoyed, inconvenienced, and charged me FOUR dollars to add a cup a spinach to an order that was supposed to have it in the first place. I added a photo to illustrate. And the cherry on top? The waitress slammed by plate of spinach on the table in front of me when it was ready. The salad was actually tasty but the smell and horrific service was so bad, it left a bad taste in my mouth and I will never go back.o
google avatar

Karen G.

Yelp
Curbside at this time, service was super friendly and courteous, informative. Their signature 'breakfast bagel' is made with egg, cheddar, spinach, cream cheese, tomato and the unlikely swipe of mustard is an eat and repeat type of pleasure. The egg mixture is presented frittata-style on your choice of bagels, very reasonably priced, and the flavors blend into pure joy. The bagels here are light and delicious. We got there after a busy morning and the lemon pepper and garlic were out, but all-seed did not disappoint, the cinn-raisin was a swirl of flavor. Located in the cutest small town of Sisters, OR, a nice long bike ride or short car ride from Bend, give it a try!
