This was our first time here for dinner. We were a good size party of 7 and were looking to do a shared plates style meal. When we asked if this was how their plates can be ordered we were told that their menu is fully able to satisfy us. For the most part, we were able to do shared plates since we ordered multiple orders of majority of their menu. The cheese and charcuterie board was a big hit with our group. Everyone enjoyed the variety of flavors it offered. In all, we expected the chicken plate would be the filler for our bigger eaters in our group, but that's not how it worked out. The chicken dish, while delicious, was very small. The chicken itself, is smaller than a cornish hen. If you're planning to do a shared plates dinner throughout with anyone who typically eats a filling meal, this will not satisfy that need, even with all of the other shared plates and shared sides. We did enjoy our overall dinner and experience. Regretfully, for this review, we were engrossed in our dinner, conversation and company that we did not get any pictures of our ordered dishes. Our server was attentive, but the clearing of table/plates as we ate and next meals and dishes were brought out, was lacking. It's a small, cute space so if you have a party bigger than 4, I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time.

A great spot, this restaurant is inside the Drake hotel, its great for a pre-dinner cocktail/appetizer, or an after dinner night cap, they have a sampling menu with several small plate options, perfect for sharing or enjoying alone. Think of a more tapas style dining versus an entree heavy menu, it gets pretty lively and they have a nice patio area over looking the hotel pool. After dinner, don't forget to stop by La Mina right next door for music and dancing! Also, our waitress Hannah was awesome.

Anise was incredible! First visit and I can’t wait to be back! I sat at the bar, Amber and a guy with glasses were the kindest to me! They made me feel very comfortable and answered all my questions regarding the menu, busy days and places around in The Village. The food was THE BEST and the presentation was astonishing! This is yum new favorite restaurant/bar to go to. I HIGHLY recommend the pancakes and the classic breakfast! Thank y’all for having me! 🫶🏼

We came here for brunch during restaurant week and really enjoyed ourselves. Our server Hannah was fantastic. The ambiance is so light and relaxing with a nice view of the pool. I wasn’t a big fan of the coffee so maybe skip that, but the parfait was delicious!! 😍🤤

I enjoyed this experience! The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. I came here for DFW Restaurant Week and it didn't disappoint. I tried the lamb kabobs, young chicken, and panna cotta. All tasty. I would consider coming back again. There is a parking garage. It was about $3 for the time. They also offer valet but I'm unsure of the price. The waitress offered us validation for parking and gave us a ticket but it wasn't valid. However, the few bucks for parking was still okay.

I decided to eat here after a quick Google search of restaurants nearby and Anise caught my eye. At the suggestion of my server Noah, I started with the whipped ricotta, served with warm, freshly made soft pita which was amazing. I then tried the crispy octopus, which was crispy but moist and tender on the inside. It was presented perfectly sliced over firm Fava beans and a light chipotle aoli, so delicious. The duck rillettes was the final plate I choose and the date jam was phenomenal, I would have enjoyed more of the pickled onion pieces to cut the sweetness and fattiness of the dish but it was still great. Last but not least was the housemade hazelnut icecream. It was the perfect ending and not overly sweet or heavy. The portion sizes were as one would expect and prices were reasonable. Anise offers appetizers, charcuterie and small plates to share, main courses and a few vegetable sides to accompany your meal. Service was friendly and very attentive. I will definitely return !

Went to brunch here this morning. The decorations and ambience are very inviting. It definitely has a Mediterranean feel. We had the morning bread, egg white frittata, and the mezze plate. Everything was delicious. We also got the mimosa platter which was fun for mixing juices. The service was also outstanding. We will definitely be back but probably for dinner next time!

We consider ourselves incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to dine at Anise on their opening night to the public! Everything from the ambiance, decor, creative, yet delicious, food, and wonderful cocktails were perfect. With the restaurant being brand spanking new, we went in knowing that there would probably be a few mistakes made, but we were so optimistic after looking at the menu online. The Drey Hotel is stunning and this lobby restaurant is so unique. Crispy octopus, a wide selection of oysters, charcuterie, lamb shoulder, saffron rice, branzino! Wow wow wow! We were so incredibly overwhelmed by how beautiful this restaurant was, how kind and attentive the staff were, and how fantastic every bite was. We loved it so much, we have already made reservations with friends to return again tonight! The only tip I would share is please make sure all team members are educated on the menu and can answer questions as they pertain to the wine list, or what regions your oysters from, or even "do you like this?" Perfect those simple things and this restaurant could be well on its way to being the best restaurant in Dallas! It's seriously SO good!

Yelp
My friend and I came here totally unplanned since they opened a lounge downstairs called La Mina. The restaurant is attached to a hotel, so it has that kind of feel. We were seated and taken care of by our server, who was so sweet and very patient. We ordered drinks. I had to get tea because I was chilly. Outdoor seating at night isn't the greatest because it was very dark, so we stayed inside. The food was exceptional. The herbs they use are picked from their local garden, and the food is incredibly fresh. I ordered the marinated lamb kebabs and Hummus. By the way, their hot tea is fantastic. I highly recommend it but the food was also delicious. The only thing is that the Hummus was very salty but still delicious. The dessert is the best part of the meal. They do change their menu frequently. We hot a chocolate cremeux mousse with chocolate cake - it was soooo good! 10 out of 10! Everything was fantastic and I'll be back!

Yelp
Tried out the hotel bar bites menu and I have to say we left very full and satisfied! I was just craving some oysters but when we saw the rest of the menu we decided to try it! It's a very small menu but it does not disappoint. Staff is nice and informative. Lots of stuff is shut down in this entire area so it was kind of a ghost town. Decoration and ambiance is great but they keep it a bit warmer inside so dress lightly. Hardly any AC was going. We will definitely return.

Yelp
Located in the lobby of the Drey Hotel, this picturesque restaurant exceeded all of our expectations. The interior decor is beautiful and there is a view of the garden next to the hotel. We came for Sunday lunch and didn't know there there was only a brunch menu available. Thankfully all the food was pretty good! The lamb shakshuka was flavorful and kofta was moist. Eggs Benedict, hummus, bread with butter and jam, and pancakes were all solid as well! Presentation was beautiful. My only disappointment was with the pita bread - I found the bread flat and and a little dry. Service was efficient and nice. It did feel more like a business meeting or brunch type of place - not so much a family place. Thankfully it was pretty empty when we went so our baby didn't have anyone to disturb. Would definitely recommend coming to try!

Yelp
Absolutely lovely restaurant in the Drey Hotel in the middle of The Village here in Dallas. Their weekend brunch menu is limited in scope, but they truly pay attention to the flavors offered. Hubby had the Lamb Kofte Shakshuka, which he said was tasty but was too watery and not tomato-y enough. I had the homemade granola with yogurt, figs, and macerated berries. I also got a side of their marble potatoes, which were absolutely delicious.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here for date night on Friday. The restaurant was really cute and served up the perfect ambiance for date night, just vibey enough without being too loud to talk. The menu is fairly small but I think that is for the best because everything that we ordered was fresh and delicious. For a starter we split the hummus, the the mains he ordered the trout, I got the shrimp "kabab", and we split the carrots. The carrots were probably my favorite part of the meal because they were served in a curry and tzatziki sauce which was so unique. I'm already trying to figure out how I can recreate it at home. The service was okay, some room for improvement on attentiveness but overall there were not any issues. I would recommend this restaurant and wouldn't mind returning in the future.

Yelp
We love Moroccan food so we were enticed by the label that the menu was Moroccan. In fact, it is more Mediterranean than Moroccan. I would have preferred Moroccan but that's ok and not the reason for 2 stars. The restaurant is inside a hotel. It is modern and clean. Our server was friendly. The starters came out relatively quickly while the entrees took longer and given their lack of doneness should have taken longer. The kitchen has some problems. We started with hummus and it was good. Probably the highlight of the meal. Light and flavorful. The pita bread was obvious homemade and a bit thicker than usual. We also had falafel balls (5 to an order) and they were light and flavorful, but way too salty. As we went through the balls the salt became more and more overwhelming so that we could not finish them all. We decided to split the harissa half chicken and get the heirloom carrots on the side. First, we did not get a half chicken. There was a small thigh and a very small breast, the smallest I have ever seen, but no leg. Second, the chicken was tough because it had not been cooked long enough. Third, the harissa sauce was again entirely too salty. It was as if some one dumped salt on the skin. The carrots were basically raw, not tender and not particularly flavorful. They needed to sauté another 15 minutes at least. The reason for the 2 star rating is that prices are high--I paid more than $100 for a meal that was substandard; the entree portions are small; and the quality was just not there. Basically for $100 we had hummus and beer. The wife and I agreed that we will not return.

Yelp
I had wanted to like this restaurant so it is a little bit disappointing that the experience fell flat. I had found Anise through Google Maps and saw that they had great reviews. The interior, as others have mentioned, is quite cute. I can imagine it being a nice place to hang out with friends, if the food and service were equally amazing. Starting off with the food, my friend and I had ordered the fattoush salad, margherita flatbread, and the lamb kofta shakshuka. While the food certainly looked great (for the most part) my first thought was "is this all we had ordered"? While I had not expected extremely large portions, I had thought that the portion size would be a little larger than what we had actually been served. It feels like the server should have mentioned, or made suggestions, if portion sizes were on the smaller side. Putting that aside though, in terms of taste, the fattoush salad and the margherita flatbread were the most disappointing. The fried pita within the salad tasted pretty stale, which I am not sure is the norm or not. Additionally, the margherita flatbread not only looked pretty disappointing but tasted kind of like what you would expect, in terms of quality, of frozen microwaveable food. In other words, not very great considering you are expected to pay $16 for the flatbread. The lamb kofta shakshuka was decent but I do not think it was anything to rave about either. In terms of service, I think it was the most disappointing part of this restaurant experience. It could be that it was just a bad day for the server, or perhaps the restaurant was understaffed. However, I just remember that the server did not seem very happy and the overall service was really slow. I think it took over 30 minutes to get our order taken and then it took even longer to get our checks after finishing our meal. I had glanced at the parties next to our table, who were seated after us, also waiting quite some time for their check to arrive. Truthfully, I feel like rating this restaurant 3 stars is being generous considering the mediocre food and service.

Yelp
Anise is my secret hideaway! So comfy and relaxing to me. Service has always been top notch and the waitstaff is super friendly and ready to give great accommodations. It's nice to see some familiar faces there from another restaurant I used to frequent Food is delicious! I'm a huge crudo fan so the salmon crudo is a must in my rotation. They have rotating lamb focused dishes a bit which I love. Haven't tried the boards yet but it's definitely on my to do list. If you've had a hard work day and need a beautiful atmosphere and a solid meal with smiling faces, Anise is where you wanna be!

Yelp
I'm obsessed with this place. It's a "pan-Mediterranean food and wine bar" in the lobby of the Hotel Drey (which I also love!!) in the Village. The ambiance is gorgeous - lots of light and beautiful details. They have a nice wine and cocktail selection and happy hour from 4-8 on Tuesday- Friday with half priced classic cocktails like margarita, aperol spritz, espresso martinis, etc and $8 wine. They also have a wine flight. We had the cod fritters which were AMAZING.

Olivia A.

Yelp
First thing. The ambience here speaks for itself, especially during sunset! Secondly, the food is literally, fresh and just as authentically pleasing as the building. Overall, a great place to grab a drink or catch up with friends in the heart of the Village!

Gill S.

Yelp
A beautiful marriage of casual and elegance with a generous twist of Instagram sleekness. The back patio has a nice view of the pool during the summertime, so watching people play water polo was a nice break from the usual. The interior is modern but still quite fancy in ita low lighting and sleek design. Either are worth sitting in, but I could see the patio during brunch being popular. Oysters with four different sauces - that got sauce is no joke. I felt like a soldering iron was being jammed into my ears. Otherwise they have two different types in hand. Otherwise, they had two oyster selections that were sourced from great locations. The crispy Octopus is done if the better prepared occupies ive had in dallas. Its tender without being mushy, while actually crispy on the outside. The lima beans in the bottom were a nice touch. Short rib was actually pretty good! I like the fact that it wasnt stringy and felt like a cut of tenderloin. Great beefy flavor with some nice rendered fat. Only complaint is how small of a portion they provide you. Beet Salad was ok but it was more presentation than it was composition. They put a shroud of arugula on top that was unnecessary. The beets are the main focus, and thats about it. Lamb and fig flatbread was definitely a flatbread and not a pizza. Making this distinction in case anyone was delusional and thought they were getting something that's doughy or saucy. The fresh figs they use make a difference. The lamb does does take good, but I question if its worth getting. Theyre only giving you four small triangles, so its not gonna be much. Mujadara, or green lentils, was everything that I like as a veggie meal. Fluffy grains of rice, creamy tangy yogurt, and Caramelized onions. The lentils give you that filling factor for sure. I enjoyed this dish way more than I thought I would. This place is going to get more and more popular, and plenty of others will be enticed by the atmosphere, but will be pleasantly surprised by the craft involved in the kitchen. This place isnt breaking barriers, but they don't take shortcuts either. From the in house hot sauces and attention to the preparation of the octopus, this place shines in the details. My biggest gripe is the price and the portions that go with it, but perhaps this is due to the pandemic. Either way, its worth checking it out.

Olivia U.

Yelp
Service, and ambience was excellent! We enjoyed drinks and appetizers so I can't comment on the entrees. We had whipped ricotta, cheese and charcuterie board as well as hummus.

Eunice K.

Yelp
My friend and I went to go check this place out. It's located inside the Drey Hotel. They serve Mediterranean food and each dish is beautifully plated. Their decor is stunning and totally dig their ambiance. Ordered the following dishes: *whipped ricotta: black figs, pistachios, mint, house-made pita *hummus: roasted garlic, green chermoula, house-baked pita *yellowfin tuna: citrus, calabrian chile, capers, pickled onions *crispy octopus: pimenton aioli, gigante beans *turkish kofta: lamb & beef sausage, za'atr, roasted garlic, hummus Everything was really good. No complaints. I'd come back!

Yelp
Brunch at Anise was fabulous! Hannah was very nice and attentive throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, so much natural lighting and the high ceilings make it feel very spacious although there aren't that many tables. Parking is available in the garage and is inexpensive, like $3 for up to 2 hours. I went for restaurant week and I plan to come back again to see the rest of their menu.

Julie G.

Yelp
The term "Hidden Gem" was coined specifically for a restaurant like Anise. Tucked in a corner off the main corridors of Granbury . Lovely decor, intimate seating and friendly, knowledgeable staff. We were presented with a divine amuse bouchée of whipped goat cheese drizzled with honey and flecks of red pepper flakes along w/ a basket of lavash. I chose to start with the soup of the day. In all honesty the best white cheddar broccoli soup I've ever eaten. My husband had a beautiful mixed green salad garnished with pear and blue cheese. Our entrees, excellent pork cutlet for myself and perfectly grilled elk for my husband. The above were paired with a nicely chilled French Chardonnay and then an oh so yummy Grenache. High praise for a well chosen very reasonably priced wine list. Memorable meal and experience!

Kenya R.

Yelp
The 2 stars is for the customer service and the hummus. The food was ok, but the customer service was not good. It took us 2.5 hours to get through dinner here. This is the type of establishment that takes 2 hours for dinner, yet there we were. It started with the drinks. I placed my order first, but was the last to get my drink after checking on it twice. I was thinking they have to be making the glass that the drink goes in because there is no way it takes 30 minutes to get a drink out. No, they weren't busy. It was like a Tuesday or something. I did eventually receive my drink, but our waitress never came and apologized for the delay. A different waitstaff took over our table, and he did comp the drinks. Sadly, we won't return. I didn't take any pictures.

Mark Y.

Yelp
Love this place. Happy hour is always great after work. Great apps, including the best hummus in the world. Check it out.l for brunch too.

Yelp
Fine. Not exciting. Not interested in going back. Parking is fine / easily accessible. Interior decor- lovely. Whipped ricotta had a paltry bit of fruit; Needs some adjusting but was good offering if tweak made. The Brussels- lots of places have done this.; this version is not innovative. Carrot side was best dish of night.

Renita T.

Yelp
A very new restaurant! Great ambiance inside and has a cute patio area outside. Lots of options on the menu. The falafel and the ricotta were the standout appetizers! So fresh and amazing! The lamb tangine was great as well. The waitstaff was excellent and very understanding when we did not like one dish. They are still new and appreciated the feedback. I appreciate when a restaurant does not make you feel bad for not liking something and instead is gracious and willing to take feedback! Just for that we will be back to try some more menu items! Great wine selection as well.

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
I very much prefer their old menu, they changed it a few months ago but there are still some winners! Located inside The Drey hotel, Anise offers a light selection of Mediterranean eats and a pretty solid charcuterie board! Def recommend the hummus, falafel and get the charcuterie board. Pair with a wine or my fave drink, the cuore di oro Again strongly recommend for light fare and vibes

PJ L.

Yelp
The food is solid but be aware that the all menu items are not available during certain times of the day. They prep the food everyday for each meal so the no you can't get the bacalao fritters during brunch. Their espresso martini is quite good.

David E.

Yelp
They have a really nice grilled octopus appetizer, and a chicken dish that is cooked "sous-vide", that for some reason is extremely juicy and delicious.

Benita F.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing experience! Everything we ordered was delicious...ambiance was great...staff was attentive. Highly recommend if you're interested in quality and tasty Mediterranean food!

Yelp
Dallas best kept secret! I moved to Dallas on June 2nd and have eaten at Anise three times already :-) This should tell you how amazing the food and service is . One word to describe is Top Tier in every area. If you are looking for great wine, amazing food and wonderful service check this place out. Great date night spot.

Lorenzo H.

Yelp
Anise is the perfect place to become a regular! The beautiful grounds of The Village Dallas, it's amazing ambience, and incredible cuisine, make it easy to spend hours here! The Drey Hotel, is one of my top suggestions for a boutique hotel in Dallas, and Anise is a big part of that. From business meetings, a romantic evening, to celebrations, you won't be disappointed with the service, food, or cocktails, whether seated at the bar, or enjoying the coziness, and view from the main dining area. Sharing is Caring! Here are some of our favorites; We start with their delicious Cheese and Charcuterie board, then dive into the Crispy Octopus, an Olive Oil Poached Salmon, and the Lamb Shanks, with a side of Charred Broccoli. So so good! To continue satisfying your senses, don't forgot a nice bottle of Italian wine, and Japanese Whiskey, with a desert, and espresso to top off the experience! They're closed on Sundays, and Mondays, so plan accordingly. I'm certain Anise at The Village Dallas will also become one of your favorites, and we'll run into one another there very soon! Xoxo Lorenzo!

Milke D.

Yelp
If you are a fan of overpaying four a minimal pour of whiskey this is your place. Ordered a Blantons on the rocks which was one large cube and literally one finger of whiskey. Was charged $22 for that. Absolute rip off.

Kit M.

Yelp
We were in Anise to celebrate college graduation and Mother's Day. We chose Anise because of it's amazing reputation. We were a party of 6 so had a reservation. We were 15 min early. The facility is tiny. All tables were full. No one looked ready to leave. A server greeted us and asked us to gather in the side cubby which has a couch and single chairs. We were offered beverages. And left to our own devices. There was a large party along the back wall. And tables of 2 and 4 scattered inside. It was quite cold inside and I went outside to warm up. After 10 min my d-i-l joined me. I was expressing my displeasure at being left to our own devices. A couple passed us when entering the restaurant. Five min later the chef/owner came out and told us they were getting more tables and would seat us soon as I was disparaging her restaurant.I told her it was a private conversation and I was disparaging her management not her cooking skills. Amazingly we were seated within 10 min.And 3 other tables were found. The service was good. They provide an amuse bouche. It was a really nice touch. The menus was intriguing. I had a crab cake that was perfectly made. My sons had chicken that was dry. My grandson had fish soup, a crab cake and a seafood gnocchi and was hungry. Not my favorite Mother's Day meal. The ice tea was good.

Yelp
I was very excited to visit Anise, as I'd seen pictures floating online and heard about it through the grapevine. And I love Mediterranean food, so I was excited to try a new one! As soon as I walked in, I was impressed by the decor and ambiance of the restaurant. It looks small from the front door, as we only saw a few tables and the bar, but we were led toward the back of the restaurant, which is more expansive and has the kitchen, fireplace, and some larger tables. Love the interior design - modern and sleek while still being cozy. We arrived on time to our dinner reservation and were seated immediately. We placed our drink orders, which came out fairly quickly. Then, we placed all of the below orders at once. The appetizers came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Our entrees took more time. What we got: Mezze: - Crispy octopus (pimentón aioli, chilled white beans, cilantro, pickled celery): We really loved this dish! Loved the crispy exterior on the octopus. We are always cautious on octopus because it can be really chewy if grilled too much. But they did it perfectly here! The octopus was still very soft and not chewy! - Scallop crudo (ras al hanout vinaigrette, cilantro): I love scallop, so I'm a little biased. But this was certainly done very well. The vinaigrette has a curry taste with cumin, which I've never had with scallop before. If I'd had bread with it, I would have dipped it all over the sauce! Large plates: - Lamb shoulder tagine (couscous, marcona almonds, cumin): I liked this dish - it's basically lamb meatballs in tomato-based stew with some veggies. I'm a big fan of lamb, whereas my partner thought it was too gamey in taste. I thought the stew went really well with the pita bread. - Harissa-rubbed chicken (chicory salad, pan-drippings vinaigrette): We wanted the whole roasted branzino, but unfortunately, they were out of the dish. Our waiter told us it was one of the most popular items... We understand, but we would also expect better stock of the popular items on the menu, especially early on in dinner service on a weekend. We were disappointed, but we went with the chicken instead. I'm personally not a big fan of chicken dishes, and this one wasn't too impressive to me. The chicken was roasted nicely with crispy skin and rich taste. But it didn't really stand out to me. Side: - Charred broccoli (salmoriglio, pinenuts, toasted breadcrumbs): Loved these! I expected the broccoli to be a little more charred and crispy, but they came out more steamed. Still delicious, though! Drinks: - Sencha tea (comes in small pot to refill your mug as you wish) - Beer My reasoning for the 3 stars is due to slow and inattentive service. We ordered everything at once at the beginning of our visit. We figure this helps the kitchen staff time the dishes so that they are ready without much delay between appetizers and entrees. However, in our case, we waited 45 minutes between our appetizers and entrees. About 30 minutes into our wait, our waiter came by to apologize for the wait and explain that the chicken takes a long time to cook. We were a little confused by this - we feel that if the kitchen knows that the chicken takes a long time to cook, then they could have timed it better and started cooking it while getting appetizers ready, especially since they had all our orders already. We were also a little disappointed that our waiter did not come to check in with us for 30 minutes as we waited; we had not seen him since he had taken our appetizer plates away. When he came by to explain, he gave us some pita bread to make up for the wait. We certainly appreciated the gesture, but we expected better of a nice restaurant like Anise. I would also note that the pita bread is lacking in taste, so it by itself was not very appetizing. (As I wrote earlier, though, I did enjoy it with the lamb shoulder tagine!) I will note that our waiter Noah was very sincere, friendly, polite. However, he did seem a little overwhelmed. From what we could tell, he was taking care of two other parties at the time, but he did seem a little frantic at times. We figured he was new to the restaurant and possibly to the customer service/hospitality industry in general, so hopefully, he can gain a little more confidence and efficiency with time and practice! I couldn't help but compare Anise to Sachet - similar high-end Mediterranean cuisine in small plates. Similar modern and beautiful atmosphere. But the service is where these two restaurants differ. Parking: Valet service is offered at the door for $5

Yelp
A fairly new restaurant located in a hotel, this place was very nice! I got reservations the day before. The ambience is beautiful. I got the sea bass, which was cooked perfectly and didn't taste fishy. Everything was fresh and the menu was thought out!

Yelp
Location is beautiful and the glassware is fantastic. We went for a Saturday brunch and the acoustic guitar playing in the background was quite romantic. The food, however, is nothing special and pricey for small portions. Our server was having a bad day... she seemed to be in a mood the whole morning and even brought us the wrong check at the end. Would not return for brunch but would consider coming for dinner because the aesthetic is 10/10.

Yelp
Tried a new place on Saturday, Anise at The Village Drey Hotel. The design and style of this new spot was well done! I really love the open airy look! On my first visit, I went for brunch, so I only saw a limited menu. I decided to try three dishes to get a true taste. In order from best to not: The Mezze Plate was my favorite. It came with a smoked eggplant dip, roasted tomatoes, cucumbers, soft pouched egg, and some pita. Yum! The second dish I ordered was the Lamb Kofta Shakshuka which were small balls in a spicy tomato and cilantro sauce with poached eggs. The third dish was an arugula salad. Eh. There weren't many other patrons there so I'm not sure why it took so long to prepared such simple dishes. Also, the restaurant does not validate parking garage parking. Still contemplating if I should give this place another try.

Yelp
Beautiful Space, incredible food, outstanding service...what more can you ask for? Star dishes were smoked eggplant dip with pita. That smoked flavor was so good I'm not sure if I'll find another place that can beat it! Sous vide octopus is very common nowadays in a lot of Mediterranean restaurants. But they took it one step further by lightly deepfrying it! I could eat that whole plate by myself, served on a bed of fava beans. When I saw flatbread on the menu, I thought I'd skipped! I'm glad I did not! Coz that lamb kofta flatbread was to die for . It's the best flatbread I've had. The combination of the ground kofta & pickled red onions & a sweet kind of jam (I think) & goat cheese blended so well together. Lamb Tagine with couscous ... just absolutely delightful esp on a cold winter nite. It's like having a bowl of comforting stew in your grandmas kitchen. It's a little on the tart side. Now...comes the dessert menu...having been to a gazillion restaurants, I haven't quite seen a piece of cake priced at $14. If you can get a table by the window facing the pool, it's just beautiful! Service is absolutely outstanding !!! You can self park in the parking garage below. Paid Valet is available at the hotel entrance. Restaurant is located beside the hotel

Yelp
A Mediterranean plant very common in Southern Europe, Russia and certain other countries "Anise" couldn't have a better name! To say Anise is a diamond addition to this private community is an understatement. From the top down the Anise at the Drey Hotel is an exceptional standard of world class hospitality, ambiance and comfort. The chef in the kitchen has done an excellent job at creating flavors from a herb forward menu, vegetable rich and worldly flavor. The crispy fresh falafel, the white beans, the brunch menu, the cocktails freshly shaken by Mike, the fantastic leadership from Amelia as she coaches and encourages her staff to be as hospitable as possible...it's all just incredible. Mike truly goes above and beyond to understand his customer and make the perfect drink. Always a pleasant experience being served by him. Here are the specific details of our experience: After getting engaged in Switzerland of all the places in the world to host our engagement party, we chose The Drey Hotel and this diamond of a place "Anise " . They truly made us feel special. Amelia ensured that our party's dietary needs which included Gluten Free & Vegan were accommodated. Anthony took care of our dinner service and he was smart & attentive. Incredible service. The service provided by Christina in the bar was spectacular. She's brilliant. An exceptional, transcendent talent. Her amiable personality, and experience shines like well.. a diamond. She made our guests feel special and attended to their dietary needs and accommodated substitutions, happily. To be frank, it was the best service I've ever received from a bartender or server, ever anywhere in the world and if you follow our travel accounts, you know we've been to some of the best restaurants in the world. IG listed below. Professionals like Christina really make places shine and Anise is fortunate to have her. We could tell she was very busy and yet made all of us feel very special. When under pressure, character shows and she's a true testament to professionalism. I'm thoroughly impressed and can see this place really becoming a staple for us. My only recommendation would be they increase their Gluten Free & Vegan options. As avid world travelers we can confidently say many worldly restaurants like this one have adopted the "healthier" alternatives as part of their menu and are doing very well. This restaurant and hotel does remind us of some restaurants and stunning hotels we've experienced in our seasonal world travels such as in Czech Republic, Switzerland, France, Italy, Croatia, Andorra, Bahamas...etc too many to mention... Follow @healthytravelcouple on IG for more content on these topics. Special thank you to Christina for continuing to go above and beyond. The Village Dallas hires the best of the best...and the Anise & Drey Hotel really showcase that. Come here on a Sunday for brunch and order mimosas and day brunch... or put on your dinner jacket and dress, enjoy cocktails and dinner. You will be pleasantly surprised. The leadership displayed by Amelia and her staff is evident and the cocktail talent from Mike & Christina is noteworthy. Impressive. An ace in my book. Thank you Anise & Thank you Drey Hotel for taking care of our guests. You've accomplished the standard of world class hospitality. Congratulations.

Yelp
Food was so fresh and the aesthetic was amazing. I'll definitely be back to try the other offerings outside of the brunch menu.

Yelp
I've been back her numerous times and it never seems to disappoint! The drinks are all consistently great. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful. My fiance absolutely loved the branzino and we both thought the charcuterie was great and we usually prefer to make our own at home. My personal favorite was the chicken. It was flavorful when juicy. We can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. And did I say the drinks were great? We got an amazing off the menu drink that was made by the bartender and honestly one of the best most refreshing drinks I've ever had.

Yelp
Wish they had more veg options, but otherwise good food. The staff was super friendly and hospitable.

Yelp
This place is great!! The back patio is amazing. It felt like we had been transported to a vacation destination. The hummus was delicious. The charcuterie board was great. The entrees were interesting. The desserts were amazing! The staff was helpful. The cucumber cocktail was refreshing. Zero complaints!! We'll be back!

Yelp
Very disappointing evening. Service was horrible. The server was beyond pushy. Kept telling us what his favorites were. Almost like he was joining us for dinner. Thanks but I could care less what you like. Food was awful. Entrees were cold. The half chicken was just an airline breast-not a half chicken. Everything was seasoned horribly-globs of uncooked spices. Almost like coating your mouth with really fine sand. Did I mention how pushy the server was. Tried ordering a kebab plate and before I could relay that we were going to order 3 sides with it, he proceeded to rant about how it wouldn't be enough food. Again, let me be the judge of that. I'm a grown ass man and know how to order pal. An absolute was of $350. If service and food were up to expectations, tab would have been much higher. Never eaten at a car dealership but I imagine this is what it would be like. A pushy salesman and subpar food.

Yelp
Food and drinks were amazing. The staff was incredible and our waitress hannah was so sweet and really made our experience here so enjoyable!

Yelp
50% off Happy Hour.... Lies! Much like everything else in this development their happy hour of 50% off is false advertisement. It's actually only 35% off and they're skimming an extra 15% off every tab. I live here and everything that seems to be too good to be true, always is. I went for their HH last Tuesday, 7/25/23, to at least give it a shot, but I had a gut feeling that something was going to be wrong. And as soon as they brought me my tab, sure enough, the so called "50% off HH" was only 35%. And it wasn't about the few dollars I should have still gotten off my tab, it's the mere fact that this place and entire development is in such dire need for money their skimming 15% off every every single tab in the restaurant. I assume most wouldn't notice the missing 15% or don't have the spine to call them out, but I did, and the manager was first in shock that I would say something and tried to tell me the tab was correct. But oh he was quick to try and right their wrong when I proved to him, through their own menu showing regular pricing, that it was indeed not 50% off! There's a reason that HH menu doesn't have prices on it! Don't be naive people and check your tabs! This entire development of the Drey and Village is all about nickel and diming you to death, they don't care about their customers nor their residents, it's all about the money.

Yelp
What a discovery for foodies! Anise features lots of small plates (entrées, too) with a fabulous Moroccan /North African accent. Inventive combinations and seasonings make every bite a burst of flavor, and the food is healthful to boot. The prices are surprisingly reasonable, given the amount of preparation that goes into each dish, and the wine list was full of lesser known discoveries, such as the crisp, refreshing white Moschofilero from Greece. Try a wine flight! We enjoyed the contemporary decor with warmth and intimacy created by a roaring fireplace, wicker lampshades, and wooden tables. The outdoor patio in the back adjoins the swimming pool and a spacious green lawn, all illuminated with patio lights, torches, and lamps for evening shimmer. It's nice and quiet out there (no music), which was a huge plus for us! The music inside was too loud for effortless conversation -- the only flaw in an otherwise perfect place. I recommend the crispy octopus, the duck rillettes, and the whipped ricotta with grilled fruit, pistachios, and mint -- all fabulous small plates. Anise also offers platters of cheese and charcuterie, which I will try next time, along with the pulled shoulder of lamb -- their signature entrée. Toke and Amelia, the sommelier, provided excellent service. Definitely put this restaurant in your rotation -- we are going back soon!

Yelp
Anise has a new great chef : Chef Rene De Leon Jr. If you haven't been there, you should go. If you were there in the past and was not impressed, you should go back! My husband and I moved to Dallas less tan a year ago and we are on a mission to find good restaurants in Dallas ( not always easy) ! We travel the World looking for interesting places and , of course , good restaurants from a 3 star Michelin to a local pub. We now consider Anise one of the best in Dallas: the location is great, the place has a trendy/pretty decor, good service. But the highlight is definitely the food: great presentation, amazing flavors !! Drinks and dessert are also worth of trying ! Overall a great experience ! Our compliments to the Chef !

Yelp
Decided to check out Anise as we love great Mediterranean food and this place did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was delicious. My favorite was probably the Matbucha and the Hawaij-Spiced Shortribs. We even came back the next day because I was intrigued by the Lamb Kofta Shakshuka and it was fantastic! We'll definitely be back to try other things on the menu!

Yelp
Came in for dinner for the first time. Great service and amazing food. Ambiance is also a high point.

Yelp
Pricey and very small portions! Tried the veg kebabs consisted of couple pieces of onion, bell pepper n mushroom. Ordered the lamb shank - tough and expensive! Don't plan on returning.
