Anita La Mamma del Gelato

In the four days that we were in New York we went to Anita’s three times and went to two other ice cream places. What can I say, my daughter is obsessed with ice cream/gelato! Anita’s was the best one by far! The flavor options were amazing. We loved the raspberry crunch, vanilla, salted chocolate. The best time to go was during the day. There was always a decent line at night so if you’re trying to avoid lines go in the early afternoon. The staff was super friendly and they serve it so beautifully. The presentation was impeccable every time.

It looks smaller on Camera, however they are very generous with their scoops. I went the 2nd time ever today, and just felt that I 100% had to recommended this ice cream shop. First and 2nd time they had very generous scoops to give, and is a fancy place. Price is reasonable, for how much they give. They’re was slightly more before ice cream before I took the photo. However it was beetween 10-12 dollars for 3 flavors in one. (Medium)

I got baited by pictures online of their frozen yogurt filled with toppings and drizzled with sauce. I got a medium and a few toppings including strawberry, chocolate chips, halva and 2 sauces. First of all, they only add a laughingly small amount of toppings only at the bottom of the cup. I got approximately 3 slices of strawberries (which were frozen by the way), a small scoop of chocolate chips, and 2pcs of halva. The worst part came the sauce, which I was most excited about. They used a tiny teaspoon to scoop the thick sauces on and I got 2 TEASPOONS of each sauce ….. for my medium yogurt…….. not to mention she didn’t even get all the sauce off the spoon. No additional toppings on top, just the few pieces at the bottom of the cup and the stingy scoop of sauce on top. Never again, and don’t trust their pictures online cuz that’s not what you’re going to get. I basically got a cup of plain yogurt.

OMG THIS PLACE IS THE BEST. This is what gelato is supposed to be. Amazing texture very silky. Amazing smack of flavor. I’m glad it’s here and not by my house or I would be there everyday. This is how you do it people take note. I got the 36oz apparently it was meant for 6 people but I ate it all. Salted caramel pretzel was one half and Chocolate hazelnut was the other. Presentation was awesome bagging was fancy. WELL DONE Anita La Mamma del Gelato.WELL DONE.

Visited during the day no line which was great cause it was so hard to decide! There is a large variety if gelato to choose from and they all look so good! Service was great the girl working was so polite and patient. We tasted 2-3 before selecting. If your with small kids just an FYI there are no restrooms available.

My girlfriends and I were in NYC for 3 days and randomly came upon this shop. It was Saturday night and a bit of a line to order. The wait was definitely worth it though because everything we tried tasted delicious. There was not a lot of seating and none available so we stepped outside to eat our gelato. The reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because my friend leaned against the entrance door and got green paint on her light colored jacket. There should've been a sign that paint is wet. Other than that, we really enjoyed our dessert.

I was looking for an ice cream place on maps near where I was just killing time for a bit, and this one had good ratings. When I saw that it was basically on Times Square, I thought I'd made a mistake coming here and it would be flashy, expensive, and not good. Well, it definitely looks grand, and it's also not inexpensive. But truthfully, the prices aren't terrible, and the ice cream itself is absolutely delicious. I got it for myself, my son, and my dad, and everyone absolutely loved it.

Love to come here, especially in colder weather for less crowds. Always love the vegan dark chocolate!! No step to enter. No restrooms.

Both the gelato and froyo are so good. Froyo: one flavor but unlimited toppings! the froyo is perfectly tart and a good texture Gelato: great flavors and they're really heap it up

WOW FACTOR? Yes, lots of choices and beautiful display. HAVE AGAIN: Stracciatella was very good but not great. Not sure why. NOT HAVE AGAIN: Dark chocolate gelato was a bit too dark

Overpriced? Yes. But it's midtown Manhattan... Worth it? Absolutely!! So many different flavor options I struggled to choose. You can of course try samples and it didn't seem like they were judging you if you wanted to try a few (honestly I judged myself and stopped at 3 but I'm sure they'd have been ok if I did more). I finally decided on Strawberry mascarpone & ricotta (amazing!) and biscuit cake (also amazing). You can add toppings if you desire but I stuck with a waffle cone only. Seating was the only issue so it was standing room only (it was cold outside) but I guess that shows you it's not to be missed!

Literally outside of marriot marquis hotel in New York. Line was long even when it was getting chilly in NYC. I went two times during my New York stay because how good it was. The pavlova and mixed berries and dark chocolate gelato were my go to when I went the two times. Wish I went more times to try more flavors as I'm sure they were really as delicious as the two I've tried. Very decently priced and the quality is great. The little shop too is so cute and aesthetically pleasing.

I'm a huge fan of gelato as my taste buds tend to gravitate towards the more delicate consistency than standard ice cream. This takes me to Times Square, New York City where I got to try one of the many "Anita Gelato" locations that are found worldwide. Some might be surprised that they were founded in the early-2000s out of Tel Aviv, Israel. Since then, there are now over 160 locations worldwide including many in the North America as well as Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. Located directly as W. 45th St and 7th Ave in the heart of Times Square and just steps away from Madison Square Garden, this Anita Gelato is arguably one of the busier locations and has been around since late-2023. It is now their flagship location in Manhattan with 3 other locations within a two-mile radius. I ended up coming here during the evening on Saturday 10/11/2025 at around 8:00pm. Don't be too alarmed with the long lines of customers here as it moved quickly and I was able to make my way to the ordering area in less than 5 minutes. As for the interior layout of this place, it had a very upscale, chic, and inviting look to it complete with a tiled ceiling and marbled tables throughout. And for this being in the heart of Times Square, it is quite spacious. The blend of soft pink and green colors combined with the lighting fixtures really does showcase how well utilized this place is. And even though this is the only Anita Gelato location I have been to, I am sure many of their other locations are aesthetically pleasing. And finally, they offer ample seating throughout which was a breath of fresh air to relax from the amount of mileage we accumulated during our time in Manhattan. Both my lady and I got our own single serving cups of gelato; I went with their "Caramel Cookie w/Cheesecake" while she tried their "Strawberry Shortcake". Prices were a little steep (at around $9 for a single scoop) until I saw how generous they were with the portions. I will say this; the amount of gelato they give you here is worth every penny as they filled our cups to the absolute top (and then some). As for the taste, it was above average; creamy, decadent, and mouth watering. I even sampled some of her gelato and that had real strawberries infused inside. Both of our cups were delicious as they satisfied our dessert cravings for the remainder of the evening. Is Anita Gelato the best gelato experience I've ever been to? No it isn't. But it is above average and worth the visit. I've had gelato in various other cities and this place ranks in my top 10. I think for the portions alone, this place is worth the visit. Prices are expensive but that is justified with how much they serve you. With excellent customer service, amazing ambiance in the heart of NYC, and delicious gelato, I am giving "Anita Gelato" Times Square an above average four star rating.

Overall Visit Love that the ordering process here is no frills, no kiosks, no apps. You just wait in line and order at the counter, which I actually appreciate. The line was very long, I kid you not, but it moved fast. This place is super popular and located near Times Square. We stopped by after a show to get some gelato to make up for the awful experience we had at another gelato spot the day prior (there's a review for that one). Ordering & Setup One thing I wish they had was a posted list of flavors somewhere so you can get an idea before reaching the front. The first time you actually see the options is when you're right at the counter, and by then it feels a bit rushed. There is indoor seating, but it's limited. If you're visiting with a group, it might be smart to have someone save a table while the others wait in line to order. Gelato & Experience The gelato was good, with some interesting and unique flavors that made it worth the stop. The only downside was the music, it was very loud and all reggaeton. I get that it's what the staff probably enjoys (no judgement), but it didn't really fit the ambiance for a gelato shop. Overall Great gelato, fast-moving line, and convenient location near Times Square. Just wish they'd post the flavors and lower the music a bit.

If you're visiting New York you've GOT to check them out! They're a perfect pit stop by Times Square. The line is consistently long for a reason. Of the three flavors I tried, the hazelnut flavor was definitely my favorite, but the berry flavor wasn't far behind. The gelato was so creamy and smooth - they were even better than some places I've tried in Italy and one of the best gelato I've had in the United States. The set of three we bought was about $24-26, which is a pretty good deal given that they gave us a lot of ice cream plus cones and a topping sauce (the white chocolate crunch was great but didn't really enhance the tasting experience of the gelato). The interior is reminiscent of an old-school ice cream shop and uses colors that pop. You may not be able to stay inside long after you get your gelato since there really isn't any seating space save for a couple of small tables and chairs, but that's not a big issue to me. If there's a long line here, know that it's worth the wait!

New favorite flavor is the white chocolate and cookies. My kids ended up not eating theirs and ate mine. I had to order a whole other cup. The server was so kind and sweet. She put my kids scoop in a bigger cup so their ice cream wouldn't spill out. you're the best!!! Always a treat to stop by and get a scoop. Until next time.

OMG Anita Gelato has the best flavors ever! I debated between several flavors but I have to tell you the Creme Brûlée with Pistachio Crumb was addicting! I think I could crave it everyday! YES it's that good!!! I do believe there is a flavor or two or three for everyone. They have delicious sorbets too. I'll be back in New York next year and you better believe Anita will be one of my stops...maybe even two times!

Oof I hate to give this spot a lower rating, but it was honestly all glitz, no glamor or in this case, no flavor. We came by for a dessert after a late dinner and fortunately didn't have too much of a line. The gelato is fluffed up and piled high which honestly seemed a little odd to me because gelato is supposed to be the denser ice cream best friend that isn't crazy aerated. Perhaps that was just my expectation for it and sadly it fell very short. I went with a cookie flavor and the tiramisu...and I'm sorry to say that the tiramisu was awful. Didn't taste anything like an actual tiramisu and was so off from what I expected that I just couldn't finish it. I typically do not throw away food if I can help it but this tasted so meh that I could not possibly get myself to finish it. Service is really friendly, but the store is a bit difficult to navigate with flavors going all the way to front aka with long lines, you can't even see what the subsequent flavors are and are under a time crunch to order stat. The prices are higher but that seems to be the trend across the country right now given costs. I likely will not visit this place again when there are better ice cream and gelato options in the area. Absolutely recommend against standing in line for this 5sure.

Such a cool gelato spot! Beautiful decor and delicious gelatos. I've been here a few times and have tried the strawberry, pistachio and green tea flavored gelatos and they were all so good! It is expensive for gelato, but totally worth it! It's always very crowded and the lines will be very long as it's a popular spot for tourists. It's also located right by the entrance of the Penn Station.

You must come!!!! Delicious gelatos with all the favourite flavours! We chose a medium, which was plenty to share. Hazelnut, strawberry and chocolate cookie..mmmmmm Very generous portions for a hefty price, but so good! Anita come back!

Big fan of Anita Gelato! Happened to walk past on my way to the subway and decided to drop in around 11PM. There was a bit of a line, but thankfully it moved quite quickly. They allow you to sample flavors, so I tried a couple and eventually settled on Sltracciatella & Macadamia Cream. The stracciatella is less sweet and the macadamia cream is on the sweeter side, so they paired nicely together. I appreciated the flaky chocolate and macadamia cream and nuts in each bite. Overall, I would definitely recommend as a post broadway treat. It's definitely a bit pricier (around $9 per scoop), but the service was solid & the portions were pretty generous. Also, you can get up to 2 flavors for the regular size. I look forward to trying more of their flavors the next time I'm in NY!

It was expensive, but delicious. The atmosphere was beautiful and great for taking photos. There was a variety of flavors, and the sour one was my favorite.

I saw such high ratings so I had to come here to compare to the gelato just a few day before. The line was pretty long even on a weekday but it's Times Square... The gelatos were just okay... to eh.. For the price, I'll stick to even my store bought ice creams at WFs. The other place was so much better. Though that place makes their own chocolates so it's not really fair. Anita's says they're handmade and uses quality ingredients but it has a very odd sweetness and tastes ... cheap/artificial. Consistency is better than your avg supermarket gelato like a Talenti..but it doesn't taste better than some of the more expensive brands sold at WFs. For the price I was expecting amazing gelato since it's a lil pricier than the place I went to. We ordered tiramisu and chocolate coffee. I also got tiramisu as well as other flavors at V. This tastes horrible in comparison.

I'm typically not a huge gelato fan these days, but my friend and I decided to drop by after dinner to grab some dessert. As others have noted, there was a long line out the door. However, the line moved relatively quickly due to the number of employees working there. The girl that helped us was very friendly and let us sample a number of their flavors. Since there were customers lined up all along the display windows, it was difficult to see a lot of the flavors. We didn't want to hold up the line, so we just selected some of the nearby flavors that were interesting. The "chocolate pistachio and kadaif" and "watermelon & fresh mint" flavors were good. The sorbet in particular was refreshing. But for the size you get for their prices, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again.

Needed a sweet treat after dinner and I'm so happy I stopped here! They have so many different flavors, you are definitely going to find something right for you I really liked the white chocolate & raspberry crumble out of my duo but my friend got hazelnut mousse & chocolate crunch and that was really delicious as well The wafer they give you on top is a cute little addition and the perfect texture contrast

I went here yesterday in the afternoon and the gelato selection was amazing! I had the Pistachio & Cheesecake with Caramel Cookies Gelato. The lady behind the counter was really nice and the ambiance was fancy. I definitely will be coming back here again

Anita Gelato is in the very touristy area of Times Square in NYC. We came to Anita Gelato after watching a Broadway musical and the line was long, out the door. After a good wait, our party finally got to order. They had one worker take the order for our whole party. I ordered the small cup with raspberry and mango gelato. The small cup was $8.25 and very tiny in size. The gelato was not bad. It was nice and refreshing. There were a lot of interesting flavors that sounded pretty good - hazelnut mousse & crunch chocolate, macadamia cream, white chocolate and almond & caramel, chocolate coffee, strawberry with mascarpone ricotta, and many more. The store design was cute, I liked the pink color theme. It was really busy and crowded in the store. Good place to get gelato if you are in Times Square and have some time to wait in line.

One of the sweetest gelatos I've had. If you don't like your gelato on the sweeter side, best to avoid. I tried half of the flavors in the store and they're all quite sweet. Personally I like gelato where I can taste the ingredients more, and it was harder to with this gelato due to the sweetness. Portions are big. When I was there they did not have many sorbets. FWIW - of the ones I've tried, pistachio was less sweet, but still quite sugary. This was my only time there and I have not been to their other locations so YMMV.

Cute spot with lots of choices. Staff is very nice and your are able to sample several flavors before choosing amongst so many delicious combinations!

Overall (A+) This place is awesome. Try it when you are able to. Excellent service, excellent food and excellent value. Don't believe any of the negative reviews Food (A+) They have a ton of excellent flavors. You can try which flavor you like and pick 2 or 3 or 4! It's a tough choice because they all taste good. My pics don't do it justice Service (A+) Excellent customer service. So you get in line and then an employee calls your party over. You can try the different flavors and they explain all your options. After your party has received your order the same person rings you up. Value (A+) It comes out to be around $8-$10 a persons I paid $55 for 6 of us. And everyone loved what they got. If I lived close by, I would go frequently.every time I am in the city I will stop at this place. As a healthy eater I attempt to limit sweets and dessert and will save my "cheats" for Anita's Gelato. Don't believe the negative reviews and check this place out. Try not to go after the shows get done because there is a huge line. Van L is also very good but this place is better. Anyone leaving a negative review just didn't pick the right flavor

Since I didn't have lunch I was looking for a place I could grab a quick bite before a play, and this place appeared like a vision right near the theater haha. It's a very charming storefront, and who can resist gelato? Plus I had many years ago gone to an Anita Gelato location on the UES and thought it was great. I forgot how tiny the cups are but they can still fit a scoop each of 2 flavors into it. I got the cheesecake caramel & pavlova mixed berry flavors this time and they were delicious. Pricey for the size but it's quality gelato. Very pretty ambiance and it wasn't crowded when I went (maybe because it wasn't hot out) so I had no problem grabbing a table. It was freezing inside for some reason though (saying something coming from me, as usually I'm always hot).

The Italians even pull up to this spot! This small ice cream parlor gelato (don't call it ice cream) spot had mood lighting and decor of a bygone era revamped. We heard the line goes out the door and yes it was long even 10min before closing at midnight on a Thursday cusp of Friday! It took 15 min to get to the front and quickly order. Verdict: It was worth it! THEY HAVE VEGAN OPTIONS!!! They have amazing vegan options like dark chocolate, chocolate cookie something, and the fruit based flavors such as strawberry mango and more. The gelato was smooth like really smooth rich and flavorful. I can see why a small is 8$ they do pile on two flavors and you get a wafer with it. We got the vegan chocolate cookie and paired it with the strawberry. It hit the spot like a midnight snack should! My daughter is a staunch critic she gives this a second place to her favorite ice treat spot, that a high rating from her, so you know it's legit!

A pretty good gelato place you can find in heart of. Time Square. This place is crowded and price is up high but it's good. They do give you generous portion.

The pavlova with berries and the hazelnut crunch flavor are SO GOOD! The creaminess, the quantity and the flavors were to die for. There was a very long line but it was all worth it. The place was very cute, very well decorated. All the staff was very nice. They let you try before you choose which ones you want, and you can get a cone for the same price as the cup. The only thing I didn't like it's that I couldn't get only one scoop.

This iconic gelato shop is a staple in Times Square. If you are visiting then you need to stop in (of course after having some Joe's Pizza). The line can get quite long, so time it right and you can be in and out. There are very few seats inside and you may have to wait for any kind of seat to open up. Besides that, they will let you taste test any flavors.

We came to this spot after a long day of sightseeing. Our hotel was upstairs so it was perfect. the boys got their gelato fix for the trip. Nice big scoops. Service was awesome. Busy but they work very fast. Great part was that they open late as well which was a huge bonus. Loving the vibes and ambiance here when we came in.

This was so good! We stopped in for a little pre-dinner dessert, and really enjoyed it. The gelato is mounded up in the case in big fluffy swirls, and you can sample whatever catches your fancy. I went with the milk chocolate pretzel, and it was wonderful, with that sweet salty combo, and smashed up pretzels for crunch. I also had the berries and mascaprone, which was delicious also. My sister had the chocolate hazelnut, and I think the ultimate duo might be the chocolate pretzel with the chocolate hazelnut. The shop is cute, and service was quick.

Stopped by this gelato place late at night, one of the last spots open. I sampled a flavor or two and ended up getting the pistachio and kadayif aka Dubai chocolate gelato. This was one good but the other flavor I got was tiramisu and that was a big miss. I regret not sampling that, but looks like all the cake-inspired ones were a big miss. I should've known when I sampled the Black Forest and it had an odd, overpowering alcohol-like taste that really threw me off.

Great ice cream place. Lots of flavors to choose from. There is a pretty long line, but they move fast. There are some tables inside, but definitely not enough for everybody. A bit pricey for me, but I guess it's normal pricing for NY.

I LOVE gelato but being vegan, it can be hard to find. Well Anita's had not 1, not 2 but 5 vegan choices! I got the tropical sorbet with the chocolate cookie on a cone. It was AMAZING! So delicious. The person who helped us was sweet and helped with the tastings and recommendations since it was so busy we were worried about taking up too much time. Also, the aesthetics of the entire place is so cute! It's the kind of place you can't help but want a full blown photoshoot in. So much attention was put into this place and I love it.

Came here in the dead of winter bc of course i love ice cream and it didn't disappoint. We all tried different flavors. I settled on cappuccino - kids size. It was the perfect amount. Creamy and delicious. My sister got cookie crunch and that was also so good. They have a bathroom and areas to sit. $5 for a kid size cup was all i needed !

Very flavorful gelato with numerous flavors to choose from. Very friendly. Even though expensive, not so much for the theater district. Did I mention how nice the people were. If we are in the area again when the weather is warmer, we will try to stop by again.

I STILL THINK ABOUT THE WATERMELON MINT. We found this place on a yelp based off of best gelato places in NY and this was dead center in Time Square. The watermelon mint flavor had real mint leaves and it was soooooo good and refreshing after a long day. The line goes pretty fast and the prices aren't bad, you get one mini flavor for $10. You can ask for as many samples and the workers are very patient and kind! There is also some seating inside but majority of everyone takes it to go

Though the ice cream itself is decent, it's absurdly overpriced. The smallest size, which I believe you can get two scoops, costs a whopping $10. In this economy?! Absolutely not. The store has cute decor and fun vibe, but the employees looked miserable and disengaged. They spent more time chatting among themselves in spanish or arabic idk, rather than paying attention to customers. Between the steep prices and the poor service, I won't be coming back.

Honest review of Anita La Mamma Del Located on 1141 Broadway Manhattan NYC is an adorable Gelato shop with a friendly staff and magnificent gelato cases. When I walked in I heard someone talk about the Limoncello gelato so I tried it out, I'm glad I did because I've never experienced anything like that flavor! It was a deep creamy lemon flavor that hits your tastebuds so hard that it reminds you of the sour/sweet lemon drop candies you had as a kid! This intense sensation gives way quick to a subtle basil/lavender flavor that reminds you of an herb garden on a spring morning with a crisp breeze! Definitely a must try in your life before you die regardless of the weather. Also in the pic, the other half was Chocolate Almond caramel gelato which I'm sure is a stand out on its own but after the limoncello all my mouth wanted was more of that! Enjoy the pics

Who knew Anita Gelato opened up so close to my job? I stopped by during my lunch break and luckily, there wasn't much of a line. The staff was super friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. I tried the Creme Brulee Pistachio Crumble and the White Chocolate Raspberry Crumble--both were exceptional and instantly became my new favorites. So good!!! Not sure if these are seasonal/limited flavors, but if you get the chance, you have to try them. Absolutely delicious, you won't regret it!

The location is near the infamous times square and broadway theaters so there is always a line. There's a location of this in California so we already knew what to expect. The flavors are the same but definitely recommend this place for the serving size, price, flavor menu and service

The affogato I had here was well worth the line and the mad dash through Times Square to get here before Chicago started. They were quick efficient and the gelato was coffee chocolate which combined 2 of my favorite flavors. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area! Thanks Anita's!

Hands down best gelato with the most incredible decor. The line is long but they always have plenty of staff during peak hours which is usually at night! This is definitely a must visit! The flavor options are so darn good!

OMG what a fabulous surprise, such yummy gelato right in the theatre district. We went after lunch and it was not busy at all. Helped by a wonderful young man whose skills of putting the gelato into the small bowl was amazing. I ordered a regular sized bowl of the almond crunch and a pistachio something or other both were so delicious. So cute inside but super chill so we sat out in Times Square to enjoy and do some people watching. Sorry I didn't take any pictures.

Pistachio creme brûlée and macadamia vanilla were phenomenal! We also got strawberry, mango, vanilla, matcha, and pistachio. They were all wonderful. We went in 1:30pm on weekday, evening and wkend this place has a long line of people.

Found Anita Gelato while walking back to our hotel from shopping. Provided a needed stop and treat. Relatively new store. Nicely bright and colorful. Enjoy 1 or 2 flavors in a cup, the basic selection. It is flavorful and refreshing. Staff friendly. What would improve the experience? More seating and fewer flavors to choose from!

Fresh gelato on a cold, rainy day? Yes please! This spot was right below our hotel (Marquis) and it's a perfect night cap since they stay open till midnight. The service is excellent! Super friendly and patient as we tasted our way through many flavors. We ended up purchasing a small to go pack, which was perfect for our family of five. It came with cups and combs and spoons and something we could bring back to the hotel and enjoy together. The flavors are so fresh and natural, and the ambience of the spot is so cute! A definite must visit if you're in Times Square!
