The 11 Best Indian Restaurants In Artesia's Little India

"There are dozens of branches of this South Indian chain scattered across the globe, including this casual, booth-filled location in one of Little India’s many strip malls. Anjappar specializes in Chettinad cuisine which is known to be spicy and meat-heavy. You can still come here for vegetarian classics like dosas, idly, and uttapam, but the really good stuff involves a blazing hot clay oven. Anajppar serves some of the juiciest, chargrilled tandoori chicken we’ve ever had, with a spice level that skews north of 10/10. We’re also big fans of their parrotta special combo plate, which comes with a smoky mutton curry made up of tender goat chunks, ground masala, and red hot chili peppers." - nikko duren, brant cox

I had an absolutely fantastic dining experience at Anjappar! The food was nothing short of exceptional—each dish was bursting with rich, authentic flavors and perfectly balanced spices. The food was especially outstanding, with tender textures and a depth of flavor that truly delicious. Every bite reflected the care they put in the kitchen, every thing tasted fresh. Another point that is important to me is the an establishment is clean, and they did not disappoint, everything was spotless and the plates and utensils REALLY clean, which I really appreciate. There has been restaurants I like where I have to ask for a new set because they aren’t clean enough. Beyond the incredible food, the service was top-notch. The staff was attentive, friendly, and eager to ensure we had a great experience. They offered excellent recommendations and made sure we felt welcome from start to finish. We even got complementary dessert! Thank you Sumanth for being so nice and friendly! He make sure to explain dishes to us and letting us know they had a high level of spice. If you’re looking for an authentic and delicious Indian meal with outstanding customer service, look no further! I can’t wait to return and try more dishes. Highly recommend

One of the worst experiences I’ve had in an restaurant. We ordered mutton thali for two and we were totally disappointed with the food. It had no meat and the portions were uneven for me and my brother. It had several items but was not worth the money we paid. They had dhal in thali which tasted like expired food. The veggies in mutton thali were also bland. The food was cold apart from the rice. Overall a complete disappointment. Additionally we ordered natu kozhi masala. The meat for my liking felt a bit old and was not cleaned properly as it had a raw meaty smell to it. I highly recommend the owner of this place to tweak the quality of the food.

Delicious southern Indian food. I would definitely recommend it. Came with friends and they took care of ordering.

I recently visited Anjappar Artesia, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The food was bursting with authentic Indian flavors. We ordered the chicken curry, butter paneer, fish fry, mutton biryani and everything was absolutely delicious. The spices were well-balanced, and the paratha was soft, warm, and perfect for dipping. The staff were incredibly friendly and made sure we were comfortable throughout the meal. They even customized the spice levels based on our preference, which was a nice touch. Clean environment, great vibes, and truly soul-satisfying food. Highly recommended for anyone craving real Indian cuisine!

Absolutely delicious mysore dosa and onion uttapam! Their chutneys are so fresh and the sambar is fantastic too. Mohan was our server and he was great! Thank you!

Google
Food was delicious each plate was full of flavor and the server/host was incredible friendly and welcoming. Butter chicken masala was very tasty. The mushroom friend rice was to die for. The chilli panner was a great introduction. Traditionally local beer was 10/10. Naan were tasty and a great compliment. I miss the picture of the desert but save some space for it. We wanted the South Indian Thali meals but they were not available. They had stopped serving the Thali meals to our disappointment. So we had to order Ala Carte. We ordered all our dishes as mildly spicy but phew, the food was way too spicy for me to handle. I can’t imagine their higher levels of spiciness, lol. Their dessert Rava Kesari didn’t meet my expectations, the Malabar parottas were very greasy. Wouldn’t recommend the vegetarian biriyani at all. The service was fast. Very friendly staff. Ambiance was good. The washrooms didn’t have paper napkins. They had dryers only. I didn’t like to be touching the door handles after washing my hands. Their dishes were pricey, got a big bill compared to other places. Overall experience was just okay.

Google
Loved the food here! The dosa was crispy and delicious—one of the best I’ve had. The biryani was flavorful and perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of spice. Their dry chicken dishes were also amazing—well-seasoned, and full of flavor. Great service and a cozy atmosphere. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
My mom and I visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, mainly to try their weekend special, thaali. They offer three kinds, and we got the Mutton Thaali along with a Chicken 65 biryani, which appeared to be a popular choice based on online reviews. The place was packed, mostly families and there were a few people getting takeouts as well, but the service was on point. They had music playing in the background but quiet enough to carry conversations. The thaali looked impressive at first sight and had plenty of food to share between two people. The sides didn't stand out and the mutton was definitely the star. It was tasty and had a nice kick to it. If you aren't used to spices or spicy food, it might be too hot for you. However, the thaali comes with two types of yogurt dishes and a sweet halwa made of semolina, which helps. You can also order a cool drink or a cold mango lassi to help with the heat or as a sweet treat at the end of the meal. The white rice that came with the thaali was overcooked, but the chapathi was great. I wish it had come with less rice and an additional chapathi instead. Slightly more lemon pickle would've also been welcome. There was a small side of masala-coated rice, which appeared to be the same as the rice from the biriyani. The Chicken 65 itself was delicious, with a nice texture on the outside and tender on the inside. As you'll see in the photo, rather than layers, the rice was topped with chicken and freshly diced onions. It's difficult to tell from the photo, but the portions are huge. There was more rice than chicken, and I wished the ratio was more proportionate. This won't deter me from trying other biryanis from their menu, & getting chicken 65 in the future. My mom also got their mango lassi and liked it. It was pre-made and came in a plastic cup, ready for takeout. Overall we had a good experience and will definitely be back for more thaali.

Yelp
I visited Anjappar with my family three weeks ago--just five of us. It took 15 minutes for the waiter to come over and take our drink order, even though there were only two other families dining at the time. He kept pacing back and forth with an iPad, occasionally taking phone calls, but ignored our table. Once we finally placed our drink order, the drinks arrived in about 10 minutes. Realizing things were moving slowly, we immediately told the waiter we were ready to order food. We ordered an appetizer (Gobi 65). We also went ahead and ordered our main dishes--chicken biryani, a few curries, naan, and rice--anticipating they'd take longer to prepare. The appetizer did come out in five minutes. I asked him how long the mains would take, and he said 10 minutes. But 25 minutes later, he returned to inform us that they were out of chicken biryani due to high takeout demand. I told him that dine-in customers should be given priority over takeouts. Even if they had run out, he should have let us know right away--not after 25 minutes of waiting. Now, ordering something else would have meant waiting another 25 minutes. At that point, we decided to leave and eat elsewhere. We paid only for the drinks and left. The waiter never apologized and simply said he had been too busy with phone calls to check. We arrived at 7:45 PM and left at 8:40 PM. Overall, a very disappointing experience. The waiter was not only inattentive but also quite rude in the way he spoke. We ended up dining at another nearby Indian restaurant (in the same complex) where the customer service was significantly better. PS: I visited Anjappar restaurant about a year ago. The food was good, and even though it was quite crowded, the staff handled everything well. This time, however, aside from two other families, no one else came in to dine during the entire time we were there--and now I understand why.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! Everything was super flavorful and authentic! I came here with my friends and there was luckily no wait on a Friday night for dinner. The man who took our orders was super friendly and gave us many recommendations for the food. The food had large portion sizes and came out in a timely manner. The restaurant is very large and was clean. The only downside was that the service after getting our food was not great. My friend had to ask for hot water 4 times before they gave him water and we asked several times for extra napkins and never received them. We also had to flag them down several times for the check. The server left with my card for a long tjme before returning and saying they don't accept discover which was quite odd. Overall I would definitely return again for this amazing authentic Indian food!

Yelp
Authentic South Indian cuisine and a favorite place to dine, according to my friends. Seeing their happy faces when they looked at the menu and reminisced about home and food memories made me excited for the food itself! The food was truly delicious. We had spicy garlic naan (4/5), mushroom byriyani (3/5), mutton pepper fry (5/5), and cauliflower Manchurian (dry) (5/5). The flavors were complex and just delicious. We did not adjust for spice so certain dishes came out very spicy but in a good way. Washing the spice down with lime soda sweet helped. Portions are ample and great for sharing. Service was friendly but disorganized. They forgot parts of the order and were so slow. Food came out in waves and we had to flag down the waitstaff a few times. The restaurant is very busy and popular. Parking can be tough as the stalls are narrow and big cars often take 2 stalls. I'd probably return for a to-go order of the mutton pepper fry and the cauliflower Manchurian. LOCATION: 4/5 FOOD: 4/5 SERVICE: 2/5 VALUE: 3/5 AMBIANCE: 3/5 PET FRIENDLY: no (indoor space) CLEANLINESS: 3/5 PARKING: 3/5

Yelp
This place continues to be a disgrace, service wise and otherwise. They continue to use only red chicken meat for most of their chicken dishes prioritizing cheap meat over quality. They use unhealthy means to enhance taste of their low-quality food. Beware, stay away to stay healthy!

Yelp
Anjappar in Little India has very tasty food. As a South Indian, I think the flavors used in their food were near perfect. The Chicken 65 was crispy and well flavored. Our saucy curry dishes were delicious. For example, the goat curry was cooked very well and came right off the bone. The paratha was very crispy and flaky-- probably one of the best I've had in a while. They also offer varying levels of spiciness from mild to very spicy. One critique regarding the food was that the Biriyani had mostly rice and very little meat. The service and ambience were mediocre. However, our appetizers, main courses, and desserts came out quickly. This is a good place to eat if you enjoy flavorful Indian food and more specifically South Indian food-- especially if you dont mind the ambience or service. Otherwise takeout is also a great option here.

Yelp
Review is for takeout only. The mixed reviews almost turned us away but my husband decided to take a gamble and we got takeout. To our surprise, this is one of the best South Indian food we've had in SoCal! First off, they have kottu paratha which is incredible! First restaurant here in SoCal that had that dish. The fish fry, mutton and paratha are all very good. From reading the reviews it seems like people like the food but the service is terrible so we're ok just ordering takeout for the foreseeable future.

Yelp
The ambiance here is great. Low lighting, not harsh on the eyes. Indian music for the vibe. Sathish, the host/waiter was so sweet and very patient with my grandma. She was very needy but he catered to her every need. The food was superb!!!! Ultimately, I have been coming to Artesia for over 20 years, this is hands down the best tasting and reasonably priced Indian fusion. Won't go anywhere else ever again!!!! Thank you!!

Mehan R.

Yelp
Ordered anjapappar special thali(fish), it's over priced. Very small portions of all curries(sambar, potato, rasam and sambar) and it doesn't tastes good. Only fish curry was good but nothing much else to say about it.

Yelp
Superb food. The best south indian food in OC. Perfect service too. Veg uttapam and thali is outstanding

Yelp
We have been here a few times and they have never disappointed. This review is for their catering. We had them cater for us last weekend. Prior to that, when we spoke to Mr. Dhasarath, he was very helpful, made suggestions, and provided great rates. The food was ample for about 130 people. The delivery done by a very courteous Mr. Vivekanandan was on time, and the food was hot. The catered items were excellent quality and taste. Everyone loved it! We will be happy to get them to do our catering again.

Yelp
I always drive past Anjappar Chettinad and see the crowds but this is the first time I've had a chance to try it. The food was actually pretty good. Since they're known for their South Indian food I was expecting their dosa to be the best part of my meal. I was not disappointed. Their dosas are crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. I got the paneer stuffed dosa and they were generous with the paneer. We also got the chicken 65 biryani. It was so yummy! The biryani was very flavorful and spicy. I always struggle ordering biriyani because many restaurants tone down the spice. Anjappar Chettinad doesn't do that. We also got mango lassi and fresh lime soda which went perfect with our meals. Service wasn't the best here. Despite there being more than enough open tables there was a huge line outside. I don't think they're adequately staffed at the moment which is resulting in longer wait times. Our waiters weren't very attentive and seemed bothered whenever we asked them for help. The food also took quite a while to come out. The inside of the restaurant is huge and fairly clean. They share a parking lot with several other businesses so finding parking can be tricky. While the food is great, I'm not sure if I'll be back.

Yelp
Food is bad. Tandoori chicken was too spicy (for me at least) and needed more salt. Service was inattentive and borderline bad. They got our order wrong. Wanted boneless chicken biryani but instead received a biryani order with chicken legs. Also, no tamarind sauce. I don't think I've ever eaten in an Indian restaurant that didn't offer tamarind sauce. We ordered tandoori chicken, boneless chicken biryani and paneer Dosa. All were spicy but no flavor. Just a lot of heat for no real reason other than to punish people like me who have low tolerance for anything spicy lol. I think I would appreciate it more if the service was actually good and the food flavorful. I've never not liked Indian food before and I didn't like this place at all. Highly disappointed. I won't be coming back again.

Yashika B.

Yelp
My friends and I were starving after a full day of snowboarding and food at this place was the best way to end our day. We ordered chicken 65 Biriyani, idiyappam and mutton curry combo, chickoo milkshake and mango milkshake. Everything was delicious and had good portion size. Service was excellent too. I would definitely visit this place again.

Yelp
I had the chance to visit Anjappar Chettinad Restaurant when I was recently in Artesia. This is a South Indian restaurant with an emphasis on Kerala cooking. This bode well for me because Kerala food is very spicy. And I am a devotee of all spices. This restaurant has a vast menu. So much so that I could only post a partial menu. Numerous dishes with a variety for everyone. I ordered their combo of fish curry and idiyappam (rice flour string nests that are steamed). The idiyappam had a tough texture. Maybe more steaming may have helped. It came with seven pieces of idiyappam. The real showstopper was the fish curry. The fish consisted of two pomfret steaks. While they do have bones, the flesh is tender and very tasty. It came with a lot of gravy that had a strong aroma and distinctive peppery taste. It had good color, was thick and spicy. My tastebuds thanked me every time I mixed my idiyappam with the gravy and had a bite. The service was friendly and excellent. Place was not crowded, something that never deters me when entering a restaurant. Parking in their lot is not a problem. Definitely a dining destination worth going to again.

Anil Mahajan ..

Yelp
We catered food for big party. People love the taste of food and desert. They bring more than enough quantity.

Karen B.

Yelp
Still think the food is good but unfortunately found an abnormally large piece of plastic in my food which kind of ruined our experience

Yelp
Anjappar was highly recommended by a friend from Kerala and I was super excited to find one in the LA area (they have locations all around the world!). The food is amazing, but you are not coming here for the ambiance at all - it has hole in the wall vibes but the service was great. There were a few items we knew we had to get including the Chicken 65 ($15.95) and Prawn 65 Biriyani ($18.95), and our server Vijay was super helpful in suggesting other items. We loved the Paneer Butter Masala ($15.95) and Chicken Kothu Parotta ($17.95). One person in our party preferred mild spice and they were able to accommodate on some of the dishes which was very helpful. All the food was very good and the large portions provided plenty of leftovers. I wish there was a location closer to the westside, but it's worth the drive if you're in the LA area. Another plus is there's a pretty large parking lot so you don't need to worry about parking! My only gripe is that the menu doesn't include any prices so we had no idea how much we were spending until the bill came - see prices for the items we ordered: Chicken 65 ($15.95) Prawn 65 Biriyani ($18.95) Paneer Butter Masala ($15.95) Chicken Kothu Parotta ($17.95) Masala Dosa ($13.95) Garlic Naan ($11.90) Chettinadu Mutton Masala ($18.95) Malabar Parotta ($11.90) Special Anjappar Chicken Masala ($16.95) Haywards 5000 beer ($9.95) Automatic 18% gratuity added

Yelp
Update: went here after 2 years with a friend. I have to say a lot has changed since my last visit.. everything we ordered tasted really good and took me back to India.. their thalapakkatti goat briyani and pomfret fish fry are a must try. Thank you for reminding me of my childhood.

Devanathan S.

Yelp
Food is tasty . But service and attitude is not that great I would t recommend . Also not sure how the menu and or I if. Works .. I ordered briyani and the side dish gravy ( curry) is compliment to the dish.. but they charged me and haven't said anything when I asked for some more .. Also the guys are new and the food is delayed even though the restaurant is not crowded .due to which I cancelled the order and they sstarted defending and forced me that I should take it .. which is not good towards customer service .. Drinking Water quality need to be addressed a smell bleach ..

Yelp
Just spent the last year in India and was really missing South Indian food. Went with three other friends and the food was so so delicious. I'm so happy that I got to spend my Saturday afternoon eating delicious dishes. We got the thali, mutton chettinad curry, a few other things. Everything was perfection and I'm so happy that there is a South Indian restaurant that I'm really excited to go back to!! Also was so happy that the food was spicy and not dialed down for people who can't handle the regional cuisine lol.

Yelp
Very busy place, service is slow, but food is delicious and worth the wait. I wish they had a buffet.

Yelp
Ordered take out order on Christmas eve and was told on phone that order will be ready in 15-20mins that makes it 7:20pm if i say take 30mins (ordered on phone at 6:50pm). The place was a little crowded that evening but total mismanagement and chaos all around. One guy was trying real hard to manage everything from managing take outs and tables. Another guy comes and calls for people without knowing who has been waiting longer and keeps needing customer interventions. Missing out online orders noticed as well. To cut it short, I received my order in hand at 8:46pm that's almost 1.5hrs of waiting!! One of the items ordered was masala dosas for kids with masala on the side which even says on the printed receipt on their bag but opened at home to find masalas inside the dosas so bad that kids end up not touching!! I like their food for sure, but its definitely not worth if customer service is this poor and not even apologetic!!

MV D.

Yelp
Overall disappointed about the quality of food and servic Tava fish fry - Ordered mutton biriyani, nethili fish fry, kalaki Nethili fish fry was soggy and more breaded than fish. Service level is keep going down.. and more fake reviews are getting added.

Yelp
this is a review for anjappar's catering service. full disclosure, i've never been to this restaurant in person but we ordered a catered lunch from anjappar for my father's funeral and the food was great. i submitted a request online for the catering about 3 days before the event and got a phone call from them immediately. dasharath was friendly and efficient on the phone and made me feel like he could honor my dad's memory with a good south indian meal. the caterer was efficent, arrived on time even despite the event being all the way at an airbnb in pasadena, and set all the food up very nicely with the chafing dishes. we ordered pongal, upma, lemon pickle, kadhai vegetables, sambhar, yellow dal, and white rice for about 25 people. the food all tasted like homemade south indian food and even the aunties and uncles thought the food was fantastic. great experience.

Yelp
I would always stop here on my way back from LA and have my Indian variety of food here that will take me to heaven. Mouth watering dishes and amazing food.

Yelp
We had tried this place a couple of years ago when we had opened and were honestly disappointed by the overwhelming spiciness of the food. But a lot of our South Indian friends swear by this place so we decided to give it another shot. I am glad we did. This time we ordered their boneless chicken biriyani (which was SOOO good), mutton suka (which I think is perfect to go with a glass of whiskey) and another mutton curry with Malabar parantha. We loved the food and can't wait to try more stuff on the menu.

Yelp
one of my very best favorite indian resto in Kuwait ( i worked there for 18 years). recently moved to LA. tried my favorite Anjappar mutton beryani and it was worth the 2 hour drive ( both ways).

Yelp
A friend of mine invited me to have dinner together at this place. I looked it up on Yelp, and I was dreading to eat here because of the low ratings and all the negative reviews. Why here? Out of all places... When I got here, the restaurant was all empty except for our party. Surprisingly, the food was really good. We ordered a bunch of stuff, and everything was very delicious. I did not get sick from the food at all, as some other reviewers claimed. The service was not that bad either. I would definitely like to come back for more.

raja r.

Yelp
Super good food. I'm South Indian. Had egg masala curry, chettinadu chicken, and parotta. Delicious. Can't believe low ratings here, food tastes better than most places

sai

Yelp
I've ordered "Mutton/Goat Thaali" to go, which cost like $20 something with tax . I came all the way from Northridge to pick it up and only to go home disappoint to see they've not included the "Mutton/Goat curry " . I've called the customer service multiple times , what they do is cleverly say they transferred call to kitchen and they will call you back shortly and obviously they would never call back ! I've felt so much cheated not because I lost time and money to get the order, but because this was for one of our guest who came ..they thought I've done this intentionally to avoid high price food.

Yelp
As much as I want to like this place, every time I visit this place, it only gets worse. When you say your restaurant will close at 10, then when someone gets in at 9.15 into the restaurant, asking them to order then and there before even having them seated saying that you are closing the kitchen is just not the way you greet people. Even though menu is extensive and has the names of authentic South Indian dishes, the authenticity is only in the name and not in the food. We ordered the Gobi 65, Parotta with veg kurma, Parotta with chicken gravy, veg kothu parotta, mango Lassi, nannari sarbath. The veg kurma tasted nothing like kurma, it just had huge chunks of carrot, potatoes and very very bland. The parotta is layered but veg kurma is a big let down. The chicken gravy was very bland as well, no flavor at all, just a thick sauce colored brown that's it. The veg kothu parotta smelt like it has already gone bad and as if it was prepared the previous day. Nothing close to kothu parotta. Completely disappointed with food here and will never ever step foot again until and unless these guys seriously work on their quality, taste and service. The biggest shock is when I saw the bill, it was $110 for all the food I mentioned above. The combo of parotta with veg kurma is $23+ and with chicken gravy is $26+. That's just absurd, ridiculous and absolutely no value for money. I understand that prices have gone due to inflation, but this is unbelievably high especially when compared to the quality of the food, this is just absurd.

Yelp
This place has a wonderful aesthetic. It's a large spot and the lighting and background music set the mood well. Enjoyed the food lot and opted for the mutton pepper curry. It's got a nice kick to it. The waiter did well to warn us that you can't really have it at mild or medium due to how the curry is made. But it was definitely worth it. The chikku milkshake is an interesting flavor that me and my fiance loved. Not too familiar with that fruit but it is definitely worth trying.

Yelp
Loved the chettinad chicken Biriyani ,boneless chicken Biriyani, Idiappam with chicken curry ,Porotta with mutton curry and chicken 65 ... the service was too good .. thanks to Vijay, Satish , Swadesh and Surya ... for making it the perfect spice level for our taste

Yelp
Very good food quality especially the Punjabi food. Tried the paneer vegetable and a chettinad coconut curry, both were very good. Also tried the rava masala dosa and podi dosa, both are decent. The sambhar and potato masala weren't to my liking but the aroma was mesmerizing. Seating area is pretty good and clean as well. They are short on staff so be patient and they will try their best to cater to everyone's needs. If you have a kid, make sure to carry a highchair as theirs is broken, but overall definitely will visit again.

Yelp
First of all I would say food was good, service was also good but at the end when we got the bill we were told Gratuity wasn't included in 20 people table which was strange. We gave them additional cash tip as server asked us for cash as tip. Once we left and noticed Gratuity was already included in our bill. When I called them back stating that we double tip them I was told manager Mahee will call me back but no one call me back or refund our double tip to us. For me this is bad customer service. First of all you should not have new employees deal with large Grp of people second he should know more than 6 people Gratuity is always included in the bill. All restaurants should give tips to their employees but in most Indian restaurants owner keeps the tip that's why employees are requesting customers to give them cash tips.. Pls be careful when you are paying your bills..

Yelp
Curry me up, please! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=mCCvWON8C9qdFbvhUEjpoA&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Another Indian food option in the bustling Little India section of Artesia, Anjappar serves up South Indian cuisine. Besides the usual standards, Japanese quail & rabbit are also on the menu. The best way to try a little of everything - the buffet. What first caught my eye at the buffet, were the two drink dispensers. One had a mango nectar drink (didn't seem like mango lassi, as that's more of a milkshake), the other cantaloupe w/ milk. Next to it, two soup options. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=tg05US_y9YDb3xrVy4K2jQ&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA The buffet had a robust selection of vegetarian/non-vegetarian. I mainly stuck to the meat offerings - goat curry, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, salt & pepper chicken. The goat curry consisted of more leaner cuts, of which I prefer fattier selections. However, the meat were sliced in small bite-sized pieces, which helped. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=9v5yWdw7Ug5ZLDlpKCVLPA&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA For vegetarian selections, there were several rice dishes to avail yourself of - vegetable biryani, chicken biryani, fried rice, steamed rice, etc. There was also mushroom 65, which was a deep fried mushroom donut mixed w/ spices. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=2cq4LI5cA_-4QiTPazbAtQ&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=cZ17eBif0Ig8XGF6P-udXA&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA The sole dessert option (aside from the mango & cantaloupe w/ milk drinks) was the gulab jamun. Good thing these were fun-sized, as I didn't feel too guilty about helping myself to three. Really good, nice & hot from the chafing tray. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=L2RUSqf3_zurHFWUHLqwNg&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Service was okay. My empty plates were cleared in a timely manner. The buffet itself is located at the back of the restaurant, in the banquet area, which is quite spacious. The main dining room has a good amount of seating via booth & tables. Parking is via a private lot. Anjappar Chettinad is located across Pioneer Blvd. from Jack in the Box, in the shopping center where Bangkok Blvd., Paradise Biryani Pointe, Yogurtland, Tastetea & Cake Korner also reside. Anjappar Chettinad has proved to be a fine option for Indian food. While the dessert selection may be lacking amongst other buffets, the sweet drink options offset that. I'm eager to try one of their thalis, and also their rabbit & quail dishes. I haven't had the opportunity to scratch off rabbit from my to-try list, so perhaps the stars have aligned at Anjappar Chettinad. I'll definitely be back! Highly recommend! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

Yelp
My bf has been here before and wanted to come again so we could try an authentic chettinad thali. Unfortunately they told us that they are not doing thalis any more. And by the time we got there on a sat night, the biryani was also over. So we were pretty bummed. We got the goat pepper curry and the chicken masala curry with a malabar paratha and rice instead. And all of it was delicious. I can't decide if the goat curry was better than the chicken but chicken curry was definitely the spicier of the two. The malabar paratha was good, hot, soft and crumbly like it should be. Enjoyed the whole meal. We took the leftover curries and had them with a plain uttapam the next day, delicious and recommend doing it if you have leftovers! Or you can do it with rice. Would love to come back for the thali soon!!

Yelp
Food and service are spotty. They have some staff who are patient and responsive whereas few who are rude. Food also same - we wanted to try their parotta which seemed to be frozen that was reheated and served. One of the staff was rude to let us know if we picked a different table our order would be delayed since they were expecting crowd, which did not happen at least until we finished eating.

Yelp
Their foods are very heavy. After eating food from there you feel so tired and nauseous. Very non healthy food.

Yelp
BEWARE of ordering online delivery from this website. Waited for 2.5 hours to cancel my order. I even got the text stating the order is ready for delivery and nothing happened. Worst customer service as every time called call went to their offshore who unable to do anything. This is a service industry and if they cannot commit to deliver why they even taking order online charging immediately. Worst experience just trying one time home delivery to see their true service. This place has changed since the beginning and the customer service is No good anymore. Think before you order here.

Yelp
we decided to come here because our favorite dosa restaurant was closed. there were 4 in our party - 2 of us could not eat spicy food so their choices were severely limited. the dosa we ordered came out very quickly - it must have been made before hand and sitting, as it was greasy and not crisp at all. the other items we ordered were mediocre, the whole experience was quite disappointing. the only highlight was the waiter who was friendly and did warn us about the heat levels.. considering our non spicy food needs, we should not have chosen this restaurant.

Yelp
Went there for dinner tonight. Let me tell you it's the worst service I have ever received. Anjappar is well known chain in Chennai but this location has ruined it. Service was terrible. The tall reception guy did not ask us spice level or if we needed anything extra. No extra napkins were given and food was ok. Never going back here. The server was so rude and took our menus away right after we ordered. Didn't even give us chance to order more. We ordered biryani but when we were giving order, he mentioned no biryani, no Idli. He never mentioned that earlier. This is the worst place to eat. It ruins Indian food image. There were no servers. They were so rude. I came home and threw up all my food. I'm pregnant and this is the worst food I ate. I hope this place shuts down soon.

Yelp
I was craving some very spicy Chettinad food and they were able to fill that craving. The reviews seem to be bad because of service but I didn't have any issue. The server was attentive and the food was great! Please keep these kinds of restaurants alive in the LA/OC area. They don't water down the spices for western preference. This is very rare in Indian restaurants. I had the Nattukozhi biryani and the mutton Chettinad curry. This food is authentic and it's worth the drive to have this.
