Another Indian food option in the bustling Little India section of Artesia, Anjappar serves up South Indian cuisine. Besides the usual standards, Japanese quail & rabbit are also on the menu. The best way to try a little of everything - the buffet.
What first caught my eye at the buffet, were the two drink dispensers. One had a mango nectar drink (didn't seem like mango lassi, as that's more of a milkshake), the other cantaloupe w/ milk. Next to it, two soup options.

The buffet had a robust selection of vegetarian/non-vegetarian. I mainly stuck to the meat offerings - goat curry, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, salt & pepper chicken. The goat curry consisted of more leaner cuts, of which I prefer fattier selections. However, the meat were sliced in small bite-sized pieces, which helped.

For vegetarian selections, there were several rice dishes to avail yourself of - vegetable biryani, chicken biryani, fried rice, steamed rice, etc. There was also mushroom 65, which was a deep fried mushroom donut mixed w/ spices.

The sole dessert option (aside from the mango & cantaloupe w/ milk drinks) was the gulab jamun. Good thing these were fun-sized, as I didn't feel too guilty about helping myself to three. Really good, nice & hot from the chafing tray.

Service was okay. My empty plates were cleared in a timely manner. The buffet itself is located at the back of the restaurant, in the banquet area, which is quite spacious. The main dining room has a good amount of seating via booth & tables.
Parking is via a private lot. Anjappar Chettinad is located across Pioneer Blvd. from Jack in the Box, in the shopping center where Bangkok Blvd., Paradise Biryani Pointe, Yogurtland, Tastetea & Cake Korner also reside.
Anjappar Chettinad has proved to be a fine option for Indian food. While the dessert selection may be lacking amongst other buffets, the sweet drink options offset that. I'm eager to try one of their thalis, and also their rabbit & quail dishes. I haven't had the opportunity to scratch off rabbit from my to-try list, so perhaps the stars have aligned at Anjappar Chettinad. I'll definitely be back!
Highly recommend!
