Now back open under new ownership, people continue to head in to Anna Lee’s for daily lunch specials, soups, and sandwiches paired with sweet tea and slices of the restaurant’s delicious cakes." - Beth McKibben, Caroline Eubanks

"Anna Lee’s, a popular lunch cafe on Market Place in Roswell, closes after 36 years due to financial uncertainty and safety concerns caused by the ongoing pandemic. The cafe had a loyal following and was known for its $10 lunch special, which included a soup of the day, a choice of daily entrees, and desserts such as a slice of one of Anna’s Lee’s cakes." - Beth McKibben

Google
What an absolutely great find..everything was so fresh, absolutely delicious and BOTH the Vegetable Soup and Mushroom Soups were out of this world. The Spinach, Turkey/ham (2 each) Swiss and herbed cream cheese pin wheels were scrumptious. $13 for a delicious soup, choice of entree and a made fresh desert is a no brainer. Dolly’s Service was amazing and everyone there is so friendly A++

Google
This restaurant is a must visit! The servers were very attentive. They serve an entree, soup, and dessert for a very reasonable price. Everything was fantastic! The quiche was excellent! The soup and dessert was amazing as well! I will definitely be back!

First of all, I’m hesitant to leave a review about one of my all time favorite restaurants in Roswell as I do not ever want to have a hard time getting in to eat there. I’ve been coming to Anna Lee’s since I was 6 or so years old (I’m 38 now) and one thing that has never and will never change is how consistently good the food tastes. The soups, desserts, the sandwiches (whatever they have) is delicious. My all time favorite is the Reuben and the chocolate mousse. Their menu has always tasted the same. It’s so nice to have a place to go to that takes me back to my childhood, which I can now share with my kiddos. I did try the almond butter cake for the first time today (I have a hard time straying from my usual order) and it blew my socks off. Don’t second guess a meal here!! It’s been open for so long for a reason. Cheers Anna Lee’s!!

Google
Anna Lee's is fantastic! I was a bit skeptical because I don't really love a basic lunch that I could make at home. However, with the lunch combo you can get a soup, entree and a dessert for $11! So the variety of mix & match options was great. We tried the gazpacho (because I read in the reviews that many loved it,) Indian cabbage soup, broccoli quiche, pinwheels a la Richard, strawberry shortcake, and coconut cake. Just the two of us got to try these 6 dishes! Everything was fabulous!! The gazpacho really IS wonderful. The Indian cabbage soup was hearty and rich. Broccoli quiche - the cheese was melty, broccoli not overcooked, eggs fluffy! My favorite item! The pinwheels were our least favorite, but only because they were very plain compared to everything else we ordered. The coconut cake is very very sweet, but the flavors are very nice, they don't skimp on the coconut. The strawberry shortcake was made with a real shortcake type biscuit (not a canned biscuit, not sponge cake, not a cookie - REAL shortcake!) EVERYTHING tastes truly fresh. Service is perfect. I will be back, hopefully soon! It's such a cute and tasty place for a great brunch/lunch. I would also recommended this restaurant for travelers who love a quaint spot. You can even visit the attached antique shop after! Thanks Anna Lee's!

Google
This is a taste of home! They're only open weekdays for lunch, so I only go here when I'm passing through for work. Highlights include their addicting cauliflower soup, classic Ruben, and perfect chocolate mousse. I had never eaten a Ruben before coming here, so my expectations are now ruined by their good cooking. Staff treats customers like family. Fast service, everything is always affordable. This place is perfect for a lunch date or outing with your grandma. I can't wait 'till I pass through again!

Google
I had the pick 3 special. The sandwich was just alright (meat was not best quality deli meat). But I did enjoy the soup and coconut cake. This place reminds me of a simple country lunch. I would go back, mainly for dessert.

Google
Nice place for lunch and conversation. No TVs and loud noises. It was my first time trying gazpacho soup.

Google
Fantastic place to eat! Plenty of space inside and great home style cooking. The soup, sandwiches, and dessert are all superb and rotating specials every day means there's always something new! Only open from 1130-2 from M-F so make sure you pay attention to your watch and plan your visit! Would highly recommend to all

Elaine C.

Yelp
Delicious food, great service, and quaint location. Would definitely recommend! They have daily specials which get you a soup, entree, and dessert for a great price. Loved everything and will be back!

Susan F.

Yelp
The best! The soups, the deserts! Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Roswell, this is my "go to" when I need a quick, homemade lunch without the $$$$$. Always good and friendly service too.

Ellen S.

Yelp
The food and service here are very good, but I won't be back. The portions are really, really small -- like child-sized. I almost gasped when I saw how small the portions are. Admittedly, I have a big appetite, but I just can't justify spending $9.50 (before tax and tip) for a tiny scoop of chicken salad with a few little pieces of lettuce, half an egg, a couple of thin slices of carrot, and four olives. When lunch was over, I was still hungry.

Cindy M.

Yelp
I really liked this place, and I will be back. I loved the cozy feel of the place. They were easily able to give us a table for our party of six.

Marty B.

Yelp
Gazpacho was delicious! Tuna salad with apples on toasted rye with Swiss hit the spot too. Cozy dining room, with caring and swift service. Loved it!

Barbara R.

Yelp
Went here for the first time about a month ago. Food was excellent as was the service. It was a great place to meet and talk with a friend I haven't seen in a while. They did not rush us to leave. Very nice place. I will go back.

Ken K.

Yelp
I happened to drive by Anna Lee's again last week and had a flashback to the many times I was dragged there for lunch by my wife. I saw several husbands on their way in with the same look as a condemned man.

Jay C.

Yelp
Wonderful food. Loved my special of Quiche, Italian cream soup, and coconut cake. Check this place out as it's really yummy and good priced.

Susan B.

Yelp
This restaurant is a hidden gem. Delicious home made soups and sandwiches. Don't forget dessert. Everything here is homemade and delicious. You must have dessert here.

Mardi S.

Yelp
I was devastated when I heard she was closing so imagine my surprise when I found out that someone was going to carry on with the business. Same menu, same lovely waitresses with a few updates to the decor and a credit card machine! I'm so happy to have my favorite lunch spot back!!!

Ashley W.

Yelp
This is a little gem. I love this place. Everything is homemade and delicious! Today I had a cup of vegetable soup and a tuna sandwich and it was delicious. They always have specials. Today the special is Pinwheels or Kale Salad, the quiche is broccoli or club. They also have a special, that is one cup of the special soup, one of the special main entrees (quiche or sandwich) and a dessert for $10.00.

Tessa W.

Yelp
Delicious! I've been eating here for years and it's a Roswell treasure! The new ownership has updated the inside but kept the classic yummy recipes. I crave the desserts...butterscotch walnut tart...YUM! It's great for a light lunch. The portion size is actually one of the reasons I like going here. This place does not waste! Friendly staff and great service.

Boris Y.

Yelp
Decent food, very basic soups, incredibly small portions. With Souper Jenny opening just down the road, I'd be worried if I owned this place.

Anne S.

Yelp
I checked out their website and says they are open until 2pm. I got to the restaurant at 1:40pm and it was all locked up and dark inside!!! I guess they are not open! They really need to update their website so people won't drive there unnecessarily.

Becky A.

Yelp
Anna Lee's is the perfect venue for ladies who lunch. It is tucked away on a side street next to an antique shop in Roswell. I usually get the special which includes soup, a sandwich or quiche and a dessert. The soups are yummy, the desserts divine and the quiche tasty. My only issue food-wise is as a vegetarian I sometimes have a limited choice. A step back in time to the quaint kind of luncheon place I might have visited with my mother or grandmother, which adds to the homey ambiance.

Raven Nicholle D.

Yelp
Heads up! This place ONLY accepts checks and cash, something I tend to always forget about, since I tend to never have either on hand. Also, it is only open until 2:30, and if you get there later in the day, be aware that they will likely be out of several food selections, as they only make enough for the day. For the atmosphere and tasty food, I would go for 5 stars, but the service can be terrrribly slow, and you may feel like you have to flag someone down to get anything. Also, the portions are small, so fair warning. If you want tasty food at small portions, Anna Lee's is excellent, but if you are very hungry or in a hurry, you may want to wait for another time to visit. I have been coming here for years. Today we had to wait almost 10-15 minutes to order, and they did run out of some of the food options. We arrived at 1, so we figured that may be the case. The environment is quaint and decorated in a casual, fun manner, with art for sale on the walls. They restaurant was filled to capacity by 98% women, and this is pretty much the norm, and I would say that the average age was in the 60s. It seems that a lot of laid-back and retired people frequent the restaurant. I have never had a bad food experience, though the slow service can get a bit frustrating. I highly recommend the luncheon special for $8.50, where you get a cup of soup, entree, and dessert. All the soups are great, especially the cream-based ones, and I loved the chocolate torte, Kahlua dessert, and my mom loves the coconut cake.

Inna K.

Yelp
This place was very crowded and took almost an hour to get our food (a couple sandwiches). Once we finally got our food, what I witnessed while I was eating was very disturbing... One of the elderly ladies that works there stuck soup in the microwave to warm it up for one of the clients and then took it out, tasted it with a spoon to make sure it was warm enough and then used the SAME spoon that she tasted the soup with and gave it to the customer. Their kitchen is all open for everyone to see and she wasn't even trying to be discreet about it. The children that I brought with me were very disturbed as well with what they saw and said they wouldn't go back there again.

Maria S.

Yelp
Have gone here a number of years. The crowd is definitely feminine and "Red Hat". Be sure you bring cash or checkbook because they do not take credit cards. Not open on weekends either. Closes promptly at 2:30pm each day. Salads and sandwiches are fresh and for the most part organic. They have specials on the whiteboard daily. Roswell Photographic Society displays framed fine art on the walls. Relaxed atmosphere.

Wendy T.

Yelp
Have been going to Anna Lee's for years. Gazpacho is delicious and the California chicken melt is my favorite. Not a place to go if you are in a hurry, very relaxed casual atmosphere. Cash or check only!!

Gil E.

Yelp
Been coming here for years as my Mom loved it when she was alive. Never a bad meal or service. Great desserts! My favorite is the pinwheel sandwich and soup.

Steve C.

Yelp
This is probably the best restaurant ever! Service and food were great. Jutta was awesome; funniest little German I've ever had the pleasure to meet.

Kathy P.

Yelp
Anna Lee's has been around for a long time and it continues to be one of my favorite restaurants. The menu is limited but the meals are very good. The food is always fresh but the portions are small. It's a great place to meet your mom or your friends!

Denise K.

Yelp
The best gazpacho I've ever had! The California melt is to die for! This quaint little get away is an absolute gem! Service is outstanding and the table full of desserts outstanding!!! A must visit!

Susan B.

Yelp
I have not been to this restaurant in quite a while since they're not open weekends and I work Mon thru Fri and I'm not close enough to visit. I went today because I took a Friday off from work. Everything was as delicious as ever!. I had Gazpacho and a Turkey Reuben sandwich. This is a hidden gem as some people don't know about it and the location is somewhat off the beaten path. Look it up and try it.

Cheryl S.

Yelp
Quaint and quiet. Small, but delicious gazpacho. Superb spinach salad. I had it with the fat free salsa dressing. Wonderful. My friend had the poppyseed dressing, her favorite. Bread toast points with soup or salad were worthless but decorative. Coffee was just coffee. Kahlua mousse was delicious but no kahlua flavor, it was chocolate. I squeezed the orange slices that came with it over the top, delicious! They should make a version. No credit cards accepted. Take cash or check. My friend says she comes all the time for the spinach salad and the special dinners they have. Give it a try, worth the time with a good friend.

John C.

Yelp
Anna Lee's is just ok. Nothing special. They do create everything from scratch which is nice but the portion sizes on everything is fit for the over 80 crowd. You definitely will leave there hungry. Neat idea but eat before you go.

Sally O.

Yelp
Been enjoying wonderfully fresh prepared meals here for years!! I've never had a meal i didn't like. I don't mind the fact that sometimes they run out of a soup option... that's what happens when you don't just open can! And then you end up trying another soup and LOVING IT~!!

David M.

Yelp
The place has great atmosphere. This is where the Roswell crowd seems to eat. They have never advertised but have been in business for 28 years!! There is a community table where you can sit when you come alone and find a friendly bunch of avid supporters. If no one else is at that table they have today's newspaper. Help is friendly and anxious to please. Food is always tasty. I bet you will see someone there you know... The Rueben is my favorite, my wife is a vegetarian and loves the Veggie Melt and the Open Heart sandwiches. Their soups are amazing and the desserts are made fresh every day. Try the Almond Butter Cake.... If you are lucky they will have Cauliflower or Rosemary Tomato soup.

Jean e.

Yelp
I love Anna Lee's --everything I have had there has been fantastic. Reubens are wonderful , same for Gazpacho, chocolate tart and butterscotch walnut tart. The dessert servings are small but you can order a double serving. Very fairly priced. Everything is fresh and made at Anna Lee's - no frozen heatups or soups from a box. They don't take credit cards -Annalise , the owner, feels it is unfair to those who pay cash - a little old fashioned maybe but thoughtful . Probably not the place for a hungry 20something male.

Hiedi W.

Yelp
Always love this small yummy lunch place but Raven Nicholle is correct about the service being slow sometimes and the fact that they don't take credit cards was a problem for us a couple of times till we remembered to bring cash. The clientelle is mostly women and probably 60% seniors. They open at 11:30 and close at 2:30 Monday to Friday and some times, when there's a large group of older ladies, the service is definitely Sssslow. It can be hard to figure out who your waitress is. That's the main reason I won't give this place 5* I understand what Ken K means about the portions being small for some guys with big appetites but it always seems to be enough food for my hubby who is 6"2" and 210 lbs. Definitely not a light weight. They have a printed menu as well as daily specials posted on the boards. We love to order the daily special which includes a cup of soup (usually 2 plus gazpacho to choose from) a pinwheel sandwich (2 to choose from) or a slice of 3 different quiches. The quiche will definitely not be too large by any means but we find it to be just right. It also includes a small slice of cake or tart or mouse (usually 6 to choose from). It is absolutely the perfect trio of flavors for us. Earlier this week, I enjoyed the Italian Veggie soup, the bacon & cheese quiche and the Almond butter cake. One of my favorite meals. Hubby had the same soup with the ham and cheese quiche and the coconut cake. His favorite selection at Anna Lees. With two teas and two specials, our check was $22. plus tip. Since we pay with cash, we just leave the cash on the table after we get the check when we're ready to leave. If you're eating alone, or there's a shortage of tables, they have a large community table in the rear of the restaurant that you are welcome to join. I love that idea and there always seems to be a person or two back there. It is true that my husband is usually one of only a couple of guys in the restaurant when we eat there but he doesn't seem to mind. The two restrooms are clean but very dated. The parking lot can be an issue some times. The parking lines are too close together which causes a waste of some spots. At least there are additional spots in the other side of the parking lot. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in Roswell. There's even a neat antique shop next door to enjoy after lunch.

Chad K.

Yelp
I love Anna Lee's. While it's true that the customer base is made up of about 90% elderly women, I honestly couldn't care less (as a 19 year old male). Last time I checked, people don't go to restaurants based on who else will be there, they go for the food. And the food is awesome. It's true that the portions are small, but everything is reasonably priced, so I normally end up getting two sandwiches as my meal, and it's always enough to fill me up (and I'm a big guy). They have a different soup every day, and having tried nearly all of them, I know firsthand that you can't go wrong with anything Anna Lee's whips up in a pot (with fresh ingredients daily, by the way). My favorite soup is probably the cream of mushroom or the rosemary tomato. The owner also makes a sauce from scratch for the ham-and-swiss crepes every Wednesday, a dish that I would probably eat off the ground if, for some reason, they ran out of plates that day. As a regular (often accompanied by my mom or younger siblings) I can tell you the service is extremely friendly, and will make you feel welcomed and right at home like you're eating in your grandma's kitchen with 40 of your closest friends (who happen to be old ladies who like soup in this particular hypothetical situation). It's a great local business, and there's nothing else like it in the city of Roswell. While in high school I used to check out for "doctor's appointments" so I could go eat there. Seriously. It's good stuff. If I were to make a list of my ten favorite sandwiches of all time, Anna Lee's sandwiches would hold 3 of the top 4 spots. Honestly, there would probably be even more Anna Lee's sandwiches on my list if I bothered to branch out and try something new on the menu, but I refuse to do that because of my crack-like addiction to those top three (the holy trinity, as I call it). The Reuben is topnotch and uniquely flavorful, unlike any other reuben I've ever had. I would say the same about the other two sandwiches, but I have literally nothing to compare them to seeing as I've never seen anything remotely close on any other menu. The California Melt, the first sandwich I ever killed a man in cold blood for (obviously I'm joking, we all know there's no men at Anna Lee's, right?), is chicken salad, swiss cheese, mayo/mustard, fresh spinach, and sunflower seeds, all stuffed into a half pita (or a "God's pencil pouch" as I just now decided to call it). The last of the trinity is the Open Heart, which is the only vegetarian thing that I have ever consumed with the ferocity of a cannibal-er, I mean, carnivore. Sorry. It's an open faced sandwich with sprouts, rye bread, tomatoes, and avocado, smothered in a melted cheese sauce. I would write about their desserts too (coconut cake, chocolate tarts, etc), but thinking about all their awesome food and how I can't have any right now has caused me to enter a deep hunger-depression, the likes of which I cannot escape until a weekday between the hours of 11:30 and 2:00. ****Seriously though, disregard everything I've just told you. I don't want you newbies crowding up the joint and eating all my crepes and such. Did I mention the portions are slightly below average size and most people who eat there are old?!? That's enough to discourage you from trying some of the best soup and sandwiches in Roswell, right? ....right? RIGHT?!?!? Oh god, please let there be food left when I get there...

Janiece C.

Yelp
I love Anna Lee's for lunch with girls! Fresh, good food. Great desserts and everything I know of is made on the premise. Has been a staple in Roswell for a long time.
