The 18 Best Saint-Martin Restaurants | Eater

"The Anse Marcel Beach resort teleports guests to the French Riviera. Tastefully sized yachts are moored in the azure bay, sunbathers bronze on chaise longues, and tan umbrellas flutter in the breeze. Owner Jean-Pierre Pisoni, a native of Cannes, created a restaurant to complete the experience. The open dining area feels like a grand airy cabana where every table has an ocean view. Start with a glass of Château Puech-Haut Argali Rosé and olive tapenade crostini that firmly places the flavors in the South of France. Then dive into local white fish tartare dotted with kumquats and seaweed or a selection of French cheeses, before splurging on a local spiny lobster picked from a mod vertical tank, tenderly roasted, and paired with melted butter. The drive over the hill to Anse Marcel is quite scenic, so get your camera ready. [$$$$]" - Maria C. Hunt

A pretty rude waiter told us that we needed to move because "the beach was privately owned." It is my understanding that there are no private beaches in St. Martin and France as a whole. If the owners of this establishment can prove that they OWN the beach, I'll remove the comment. Otherwise, avoid this place because the staff/ownership is entitled and rude.

I spent a wonderful day at the beach and enjoyed a delicious lunch at this beautiful resort. If you're planning to rent chairs in the front row by the sea, be sure to book in advance—same goes for reserving a table at the restaurant. Beach chairs cost €30 for two. The food was absolutely fantastic! I especially loved the linguine with lobster, which I savored while taking in the stunning views. There’s also a kids’ menu and plenty of ice cream options. The restrooms were clean and well-maintained, and there’s even a small but super handy shower right on the beach. A bit on the pricey side, but totally worth it!

Day 1. Beach staff were very rude. There were a ton of open chairs and after a 10 min walk with a beach Bag and cooler I told my wife to just grab 2 open chairs and I’ll go pay. Not a big deal right???? So why would the beach staff make it a big deal a speak down to me telling me next time don’t grab open chairs and come straight to the booth. That’s what I pretty much did, yes the wife grabbed chairs but I went to pay right away which he wouldn’t even let me pay until the end of the day. He asked if we wanted reservations for lunch and I said I don’t think so. He then came and opened our umbrella which our cooler was directly in-front of him and he didn’t say a thing about, as a matter of fact he never offered us drinks or came back during the next 5 hours as he saw the cooler and made no issue about it. Day 2 we arrive and like a good little boy I follow the rules and go directly to Mr power tripper…. Where he says I can’t get chairs because I have a cooler (which he never asked what was even in it). We argued a bit as the day before he knew I had it or why didn’t he even make an attempt to sell us drinks that day. I then went down the beach to secrets and asked if they rented chairs from the security guard which he said no and I explained what happened and he told me straight up I was allowed to drink on the public beach and the whole beach is public. Regardless the point being is it was ok to drink and have the cooler on day one but day two it’s a huge deal. So also in the end the 35 usd for chair rentals the owner obviously doesn’t need or want unless he can scam you for drinks as well. Facts are facts. I’m not saying avoid the place but if you like to be spoke down to, disrespected and treated a bit unfairly (as we by far are the only ones that do this) then go ahead and enjoy. Sucks there’s no competition but I hear in another month they will have some. I like to see him turn down the 35 chair rentals then. Btw we are here for 9 days times 35 a day. For chair rentals, That’s what $300? That makes me laugh a restaurant on the beach would rather have empty chairs and turn down 300 for the week. If he doesn’t need the $$$$ why is he even in business? Also thank you for the sun burn that came with you not renting me chairs/umbrella and turning down a paying customer

Came here to the resort last year and the beach was amazing and clean. I tried twice to come this week on the week of Jan 12 to spend the day but had to turn back and go elsewhere. The beach in front of the resort was full of accumulated and smelling seaweed. They don’t seem to pick it up every day. Beach chairs were sitting among 6 inch to a feet thick piles of seaweed on both occasions. Just facts.

Service does not exist. Staff just takes orders and Delivers food. Only exception was dessert. Presentation used to be beautiful, now nonexistent Everything else just so so, not at all worth the drive

Just imagine sitting outdoors eating a delicious meal with the sea breeze hitting your face overlooking the beach with clear skies and sunshine. This place is peaceful!

I would stay away if not staying there . The bartender and beach staff are not nice at all, we did not impose and had a beach towel near rocks, not on grounds. They think they own the world, not nice people, we had to move. It's one things if we used services, but we were respectful and were just snorkling.
