Wow. What an amazing restaurant. The food was flavorful and cooked to perfection. Everything we tried was delicious. We loved the chorizo so much, we got a second order. The best part about our experience was we felt like we were at someone's home having a homecooked meal. They treated us like family and we felt so welcomed. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Convenient location, excellent quality food (pork belly) and BEST cheesecake I’ve ever had. I enjoy plain cheesecake and they nailed it; no toppings needed. All the service members were amazing, especially Presley she was very helpful with navigating the menu and was very personable!

One of our favorite lunch restaurants in Idaho. Delicious foods inspired by Spain. The service and atmosphere are great. Highly recommended.

My sister and I were there during Jaialdi, as someone we met recommended it. We are vegetarian, but we were able to eat appetizers, which were fabulous. It was very busy the day we were there due to the festival, so we sat outside. We even invited a couple more people to join us at our table, which was fun. Naomi, our server, was so sweet and did a great job. The spinach filled pepper was outstanding and we were happy to have the veggie croquette as an option.

One of the most memorable meals we had in Boise. We stopped in for lunch and were treated to an exceptional experience with the owner himself as our server. He walked us through each dish in detail, sharing background and even offering recipes along the way. The croquettes rivaled some I’ve had in Spain, perfectly crisp and full of flavor, while the chorizo was rich and deeply satisfying. It was his Grandmother’s family recipe. The highlight, though, was the presa steak, a cut I had never tried before. It was melt-in-your-mouth tender and absolutely delicious. I want to give this place 10 stars. We were here during Jaialdi, so they were very busy but the servers were friendly and fun. Most importantly the food was ah-maz-ing! The bread for the bocadillos was pillowy soft. The patata bravas was so yummy. The ratio of brava sauce and aioli was perfect. The tarte de manzana was so good. This was the type of food I was looking for when I came to Jaialdi. I could taste the love in the food, I almost teared up.

I came to boise for the first time, took my children to two museums, and found this store nearby. The choice was too correct.My English is not good enough. The shopkeeper enthusiastically recommended me food to take out with translation software. I tasted delicious Basque cake and was lucky to enter this store.

Ansots is locally relevant and revered, and bluntly that is not enough. While Ansots might be located in a non-descript downtown space behind a more prominently displayed pizza place, it's absolutely deserving of the 4.9/5.0 rating it currently boasts as of this writing. If anything, that rating is .1 too low. Why exactly do I have such an incredibly high opinion of Ansots? Well, Basque cuisine is underrepresented in the United States, and what you generally receive isn't truly indicative of the tastes you experience in the Basque region of Spain (ex. if you are looking for an experience identical to a place like Jaleo in DC, you won't get it). Here, the food has a homestyle feel to it assuming of course your kitchen happened to be stocked with the absolute best local ingredients. Specifically, you'll find items like the steak and eggs sourced from places like Snake River farms. The homestyle feels comes from simple ingredients cooked perfectly like soft caramelized onions, beautifully fragrant fried garlic, and sweet piquillo peppers. How is the chorizo? Better than what I've had anywhere else in the world. Seriously. Better than Spain, better than Mexico, better than anywhere in Texas or California. To say that this humble dish exceeded expectations significantly underplays the gravity of the moment. I ordered a smoky version paired with those aforementioned caramelized onions and piquillo peppers. Everyone who worked here was incredibly nice and added yet another layer to the experience. Prices were absurdly cheap given the quality of the meal. This is seriously one of the best meals I've ever had for the price. As I noted to the staff, if this restaurant were moved to a place like Austin, Texas, there would be a 2 hour wait for a table. It really is that epic of an experience. If you are within a 2 hour radius of this restaurant, you should go. It's that good.

Damn this is great Basque food from amazing chef and cultural icon Dan Ansotegui, his wife and daughter, and excellent staff. My wife and I have been Dan fans since the 90s when we were dating and one of our favorites spots was Guernika when Dan was in there. (It's still an icon!). Long live Ansots!

Dan and his team catered my wedding reception dinner and went above and beyond. He worked with me to make a menu that fit our budget that had something for everyone, including dietary restrictions. The food was a huge hit with everyone, and the level of professionalism and service was unmatched. I would not hesitate to recommend Ansots for your next event, or as a nice meal in their restaurant. He is a pillar of the community and a great chef whose passion and commitment shines through.

This unique, tucked away basque lunch spot is so appropriate for the area. The service was friendly . So many choices on the menu it was difficult to choose. Went for the classic option. The chorizo plate was amazing. It had a spicy cheddar an original, and then a garlic rosemary chorizo served with warm bread, grilled onions and pepper. The Jamon croquettes were delicious. Had nice chunks on jamon and were very cheesy. The shrimp and chorizo dish was good but would have preferred the original chorizo in it. They also have some of their products for sale. Would definitely recommend and will return.

Two of us in our group had ordered takeout at the same time. We realized our mistake and were able to cancel one order. They were so thoughtful once they realized that the orders was not exactly the same they wanted to clarify. When we came to pick it up we were asked the clarifying questions and assisted to sit while we waited for the order to be made. Thanks for staying open for us and for being thoughtful in your service. Appreciated the great food! Spot on for our craving of tapas!

Favorite family-owned restaurant in Boise for seriously great Basque comfort food! Reliably excellent food and even better, friendly service. Just love dining here in its casual and comfortable, always crowded, fan favorite restaurant!! Highly recommend it -- not a menu item we would not hesitate to recommend!!

Wow this place is phenomenal. We had been to Spain last fall and fell in love with the food. This place equals or exceeds the real deal. We had delicious bacalao ( Spanish cod cakes) they melted in your mouth. We had jamon wrapped asparagus that were so fresh and cooked to perfection. So much good food. We will definitely go back next time we are near Boise.

We had the pleasure of having Dan and his lovely daughter Ellie cater our Paella party at our home last night. To say they made our night is an understatement! They are a delight and the paella was outstanding along with the salad and delicious bread! They arrived with plenty of time to prepare dinner to be served at the exact time planned. The entire evening was flawless! We so recommend Ansots for your events! Thanks Dan and Ellie for making our 70th birthday celebration so amazing and special. I believe this will become a yearly event!

Yum. What a fun gem. The perfect spot to grab some lunch. I have the chorizo and clams with a cup of potato leek soup!

Delicious chorizo with clams with fresh basque bread to dip in the sauce! My husband had the pork belly sandwich with a fried egg added and it was so delicious! For brunch or lunch! We highly recommend Ansot's! We will be back!

What a charming restaurant this was. It's in a terrific location in downtown Boise with the most attentive staff I have ever had. I had the chorizo and clams with a hearty bread to dip into the wonderful broth. And croquettes all of which were terrific although I did find the ham to be my favorite. So Rich and light and crispy ,is probably my new favorite appetizer.

I have traveled all around the world and the U.S. I do not give good ratings easily. The Latx sandwich (with aioli) and the burnt basque cheesecake, are quite literally the best sandwich and cheesecake I have ever had, respectively. Go here if you possibly can.

Came in for a busy lunch on a Wednesday. Was about a 20 minute wait, but it's in a cool building with a gift shop, wine shop, haunted bathrooms, and other things to explore. Once we were seated, service was quick and food was excellent. We had a couple sandwiches, the BELT and the Latx, both tasty. I even got lucky with a spicy shishito. Good ambiance, nice spot for a lunch date. Next time imma try the wine and cola

I really had no idea that chorizo could be this good! Growing up in California, we have Mexican chorizo at every corner. I was never the biggest fan because they all taste the same and are ground finely. This basque chorizo on the other hand was VERY unique to everything I've tried. I tried all the chorizos they have and you really can't go wrong with any of them. What makes this special is the texture. The sausage is roughly chopped so you get whole chunks of meat inside. The flavors and salinity were on point. It's not as spiced as heavily as Mexican chorizo, but you really taste the elements in each sausage. I liked the chorizo so much that I ordered 5 trays to-go. They were kind enough to freeze them for me so I can bring them on the plane. I also tried the chorizo meatballs which weren't bad. The texture is on the softer side and the sauce had that punch. The croquetas were so addicting. They were creamy and crispy. Not sure if it's traditional, but I think it would've been perfect if paired with some sort of acidic sauce with romesco or chimichurri -esque ingredients to balance the richness. The cheesecake was also so damn good. It was perfect to my liking where it wasn't too sweet and wasn't as dense as regular American cheesecake. The service was 10000/10! Everyone there was so friendly, patient, and welcoming. I wouldn't shut up about basque cuisine since this experience. I'll definitely be coming back if I come back to Boise!

A few days after we visited Basque restaurant Ansots, owner Dan Ansotegui was nominated for a James Beard award. It was no surprise. A year earlier, Ansotegui, a former Boise teacher who founded Bar Gernika and The Basque Market, was a Beard award semifinalist. I rave about the chorizos made by the Quinn River Mercy, a small mom-and-pop grocery store in McDermitt, Nevada. Their chorizos are far superior to the mass-produced ones from Gem Meat Packing Co. in Garden City. We pick up 10 pounds or more whenever we're in Reno. We just might quit stopping there, however, after tasting the three varieties of chorizo made by Dan and his family. They produce the traditional variety, one loaded with a half-ton of garlic and a spicy version. All three were excellent and they offer takeout service on them, pork solomo, Basque bacon and other items. We had solomo and pork belly sandwiches. They were both really good. We were served by Dan's daughter Ellie and her dad came through the dining room and spoke with customers. Ansots is only open for lunch, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. While there's a fair amount of seating in the space in the Old Boise Building a block east of Boise City Hall, tables fill up pretty quickly on Saturdays.

Amazing delicious food! Will come back EVERY time we visit Boise! The staff was friendly and helpful, they made everything from scratch! The croquettes were phenomenal!! I am picky b/c I lived in Barcelona for a short time and ate them often, let me say they did not disappoint! The BELT sandwich and the meat plate were our main entrees we loved those as well!

Chorizo is quintessentially Basque, and if you're gonna be in an area populated by people of Basque decent? You best find some to enjoy, and Ansot's is the place in Boise to go! This one is gonna be a two partner because I both ate here and bought fresh chorizo to prepare at home. I'll start with the dine in experience because it was one of the most enjoyable and relaxing afternoons I've had in a while. Was that the incredibly friendly staff? Was it the delightful Basque white wine? Was it the shaded urban patio? Or was it the fact I was out as an adult, solo, without my kids? I'll just say it was all of the above and you should definitely stop here if you're in the area. As a first timer, I had A LOT of questions, and the staff was all too eager to answer them. They had incredible knowledge of everything they served and they spoke about it with passion and enthusiasm that had me very excited. Initially I came to buy the chorizo to take home, but after talking to them about everything, I had to take a seat. I ordered up some croquettes, a rich, creamy bechamel base mixed with bacalao (salt cod), veggies, or Spanish jamon, breaded in a light Pablo style coating and fried. Cuban croquettes are the closest comparison, but those are much more dense and heavy You'll find these in every Basque menu around the area, many of which are similar to the Cuban version, but Ansot's are the creamiest croquettes you'll try anywhere, and they're perfect with wine or beer! PRO-TIP: Don't choose between the three recipes. Ask for a combo! I also ordered a Glida, Spanish queen olives skewered with Basque pickled peppers and anchovies. Just a simple salty bite of deliciousness! I asked what beverage I should have with my meal, and the txacoli (spelled totally wrong) was suggested. Txacoli is a basque white wine that's crisp and dry with a slight fruit sweetness that cuts through a lot of the richness that's part of many Basque dishes. My time was limited, so that was my time here. The menu was filled with other interesting items including their famous chorizo, clams and chorizo, bocadillos (sandwiches) and even an interesting cut of pork that I wish I'd tried. Alas, I was all on my own because this business is only open until 3 because they do so much catering! Get in here!

Pro-tip: You can do half orders on the appetizers! The food is really basque-centered, so if you're not into basque food, this might not be the place for you. Highlights: The restaurant is really cute and the servers are very nice. The bread that comes with nearly every dish is really good with a nice crust and chewy center. The dessert menu was really intriguing and I would go back to try other desserts. Lowlights: I will say I'm not into chorizo at all, so I tried ordering the clams and chorizo motzak for minimal chorizo, but it was so oily from the chorizo that I really couldn't enjoy it.

Wow! I read the reviews before arriving in town, and this was our first stop as we enjoyed the basque neighborhood near downtown Boise. The chorizo platter was perfect as others described. Three different chorizo flavors with a side of grilled peppers and sourdough bread. We also got the Patatas Bravas and Ensalada Mixta. Everything was fresh and delicious, and the service was great.

While visiting the Boise area from Colorado, we had lunch at Ansots, the food and service were amazing! Met Dan one of the owners, what a gentleman. We just returned from vacationing in Spain and Ansots food was as good or better than any meal we had there. Also taking there delicious Chorizos and Salomo home to Colorado, my family can't wait. Ansots is a must visit, if you are in Boise!

The Ansotequi family has deep roots in the Basque community in Boise going back to the time of husband-owner-patriach, Dan Ansotequi's grandmother, Epi, who was in charge of family cooking including her legendary choriozos which are one of the many things one can buy at Dan and family's restaurant and catering business, Ansot's. (As aside, Epi's restaurant in Meridian, located in the house that as once Dan's grandmother's, is still run by family members.) Dan, who has been nationally recognized for Basque cultural contributions as well as Beard recognized with nomination in 2022, and who started then sold the Basque Market in Boise and who also was an engine at Txikiteo (now closed) during its' first couple of booming years, is chef extraordinaire who also has a gift for hospitality which is shared by his daughter, the remarkable Ellie who runs front of house at Ansot's eatery, and his wife, Tamara, in this true family business. NO MORE SECRET: The cat has long been out of the bag for how delicious is the food and sweet the service here at the rustic location in a very old downtown Boise building. But I've sat on my fingers for doing a Yelp review since I picked up our first meal to go in the parking lot in 2020 when Ansot's opened during Covid through all our meals in since and pick ups of chorizo and Basque bacon and marinated solomo to go to take to family gatherings to cook there or even, and I kid you not, to give as holiday gifts to neighbors to introduce them to Ansot's. I was being a selfish Yelper to not share here so that I could still get in the door and find a seat without it being too darned crowded to do that. Now with Ansot's getting even more exposure on national stage with a CBS piece this morning (1/14/23) for Dan and the business, I'll post link at the end of this tome so those interested can watch it, I guess all is lost for maintaining "shhh...don't tell anyone else" mode. (Truly, I only told people who I knew were nice and I would be happy to have sitting with me in the eatery. ;-) And sometimes reading a Yelp review I would compliment the writer with "shhh..." ;-) ) HOURS: The Ansotegui's talents in catering are in high demand and so the hours of the eatery are limited. Currently Wed - Sat / 10a - 3p as standard but check before you go because there are times when they are closed during those hours if a big catering job is straight ahead. EATS & SIPS: No matter what you order here, the food is delicious. Every. Single. Dish. Among our favs are all the chorizo, stuffed piquillo peppers, lamb Basque meatballs, clams with chorizo, all the croquetas and the house salad on which Grandma Epi's dressing is so good. On Friday's and Saturday's if you're lucky you'll be able to snag a piece of the Burnt Basque Cheesecake. There is a short list always changing menu really fun to explore of Basque and Spanish wines by the glass and bottle. Ellie makes the best, the very best of all time, cortado coffee drink. That and a dish of rice pudding can be a meal unto its' own for me. And fyi the uncooked chorizos, hanging in a refrigerated case, can be purchased to cook at home as can be the marinated pork loin, solomo, and Basque bacon which is some of the best we have ever used. VIBE & SERVICE: Open, rustic in the old building. It smells good. It has a happy spirit. Sometimes Dan is 'in the house' coming and going from the kitchen. Seating is mostly standard height table and chairs, the most welcoming kind of seating for all people in my book. Ellie and others will take your order at the table and deliver the extraordinary eats to you. PARKING: There is a small lot outside the entrance but I think it is an all reserved lot for other businesses. Parking is mainly on street in this old part of downtown Boise. ACESSIBILITY: I have had multiple sclerosis since college so I rely on ADA (1990 passed civil rights law) for compliance to have equal access and I share these note for others in the 11% of US population with mobility limits. Once in the door of Ansot's all is accessible with ample floor space and lots of standard height table seating. The rub is getting in the door. The main entrance of Ansot's involves steps down and is not accessible nor is, I think, the outside patio space. The accessible entrance is in the main building on the side, 6th street I think, IF you can find parking on street to use. Once in that entrance, down the hall to Ansot's. Loo is accessible. Ansots was the culinary highlight of our bucket list trip to Idaho (my 50th state, so happy to have been to all of them!) Their small plates were all delicious, inventive, and as close to tapas in Spain that we've found in the US West. We loved the food so much that we returned a second time a few days after our first visit. The Kouing-amann was an especially exciting offering, as it's the only time I've run across it outside of Brittany. Superb! It's hard to signal any one dish - everything we had was great - but the Clams & Chorizo Motzak was memorable. Kudos to the team there, who all seemed delighted to be on the staff and who offered attentive and friendly service. Dan Ansotegui, who owns and operates the place with his family, circulated while we were there on our 2nd visit, and we enjoyed chatting with him, a generous spirit who clearly enjoys what he's doing there. Wish we lived close enough to go every week!

This is a good place for Basques like me. We get our fix of chorizo and Rioja for not much struggle. The business which has not been open very long is still evolving. We stopped in for a sample of the wares and found it to definitely pass the Basque test. Ya gotta try it. If you don't, it is your loss.

Fabulous! We hired Ansots to cater my mom's 70th birthday party and everything was delicious. Dan was a pleasure to work with and helped customize the perfect menu. A crew of 3 came to the venue to cook apps and paella and they were each a delight. And don't overlook the desserts - the bread pudding and cheesecake were amazing. We look forward to visiting the restaurant very soon.

When visiting Boise this weekend, a couple of my friends and I went to try Ansots. I really enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant in downtown. The shrimp Motzak had such a great flavor blender so well with the bread. I also enjoyed a delicious cheesecake. Next time I'm in Boise I'm going to make sure I visit Ansots again!

Food was good, place clean and simple decor with a European feel. It was a bit noisy, it has bad acoustics. The service was very good.

Came back for more! This time I went for the big one; Ansots Chorizo plate, a combination of their three chorizos: Traditional, Chistorra and Motzak. The lovely young lady serving my food explained which one was what, but once I started eating I lost track. All three were amazing. I also ordered a Savory Bois, a savory puffy pastry with a slightly runny egg and chorizo, another culinary marvel. This place is Boise's best kept secret, I might be ruining it by putting the word out, so please forgive me!

Absolutely delicious and the service is outstanding! Can't wait to go back! The clams with chorizo is mouth-watering!

My friend read an article in a national newspaper about Ansots Basque Chorizos Restaurant that was rated one of the top restaurants to go to. So I decided to host a Meetup here. Let me say that it did not disappoint. Our server was nice, friendly, and personable. We even got to meet the owner. He was out serving tables. I had café kolache/latte, Croquetas, and The Traditional Chorizo Bocadillo sandwich. I also tried a piece of my friend's pork steak. Mmm! Everything was amazing! It was a perfect fall day so we sat outside on the patio. Ansots is certainly a place I'll return.

I've been to Basque restaurants in cities and small towns across the West, and Ansotts in Boise is definitely unique and totally worth a visit. The place features gourmet Basque-style chorizos, or grilled sausages, which are produced by the Ansotegui family, owners of the restaurant and longtime players in the local Basque food scene. We enjoyed the chorizo platter, which came with fresh bread and grilled onions and peppers. This is small hot plate restaurant, so we shared the chorizos, along with patatas bravas, which are roasted potatoes covered with a delicious red salsa. We also had piquillo peppers with Basque anchovies and olive oil. It was all great. Located in a cool part of the historic downtown, the space is roomy and features a shady outdoor patio. I look forward to visiting Boise again and enjoying this great family-owned restaurant.

Ansot's On 5/15/21, KM and I visited Ansot's in downtown Boise. We are fortunate to have the largest Basque community in the United States. If you haven't had an opportunity to try Basque food yet, Ansot's would be a good place to start. KM and I started with salads. I got the House Salad; KM got the Ensalada Mixta: House Salad ($5) - Greens, fresh tomatoes, radicchio, Manchego cheese, pickled red onions tossed in Amuma's dressing. This is the same salad that is served at Epi's. It is light, refreshing and delicious. Ensalada Mixta ($7) - Green leaf and butter lettuce, tomatoes, green olives, white asparagus, with a drizzle of olive oil and vinegar. KM enjoyed it. We shared the following dishes: Ansot's Chorizos ($13) - Our house made chorizo - Traditional, Chistorra, and Motzak - server with grilled onions, green peppers, pimentos and bread. We both loved this dish! So much so that KM bought 2 lbs. of the Traditional Chorizo. Clams & Chorizo Motzak ($9) - Small clams sautéed with our Chorizo Motzak with roasted garlic and sweet potatoes, cooked in clam broth and white wine, served with bread. We both loved this dish. The addition of the chorizo really made it. KM enjoyed sopping up the savory clam broth with bread. Croquetas ($7) - I love that Ansot's offers 3 kinds of croquetas: Jamon, Bacaleo and Veggie. We chose the classic Jamon (ham) filling, in a creamy Béchamel, coated with breadcrumbs and fried golden. Delicious! Spinach Filled Piquillo Peppers ($7) - Spinach bechamel inside roasted Piquillo peppers, sweet pepper sauce. We both loved this dish! Basque Meatballs ($8) - Five lamb and chorizo meatballs in a traditional Espanola sauce. Delicious! Pan con Tomate with thinly sliced Manchego cheese and Jamon Serrano ($8) - A toasted baguette rub with garlic and fresh tomato. We expected this to be similar to bruschetta, but our bread was not toasted at all. We brought it home along with the rest of our leftovers and toasted it the next day, but it just wasn't the same. We wouldn't order this dish again. Even toasted, it just wouldn't have been as flavorful as the rest. It might be a good option for a less adventurous eater though. Tortilla de Patatas Tapas ($7) - Ansot's serves a version that uses potato chips instead of real potatoes, which they learned by watching Jose Andres videos. It is 6 sections of tortilla with jalapeño chips served on slices of Gaston baguette. We were both disappointed in this dish is well. We follow dinner with coffee and dessert. Ansot's offers two unique coffee choices, both made with beans from Purple Bean Coffee Roasters in Nampa. I got the Bombom, a double shot of espresso, with a layer of sweetened condensed milk, topped with house whipped cream. The whipped cream had already melted by the time it was delivered to our table. Visually, and flavor wise, it was disappointing. KM ordered the Brown Sugar Cortado, espresso mixed with a little milk and a little brown sugar. KM enjoyed it. The prices for the coffee drinks aren't noted on the menu, but they were at least $4 each. Don't be fooled by the photographs, these drinks are minuscule. My advice is to skip the coffee and go straight to desert. We shared three desserts: Burnt Basque Cheesecake ($6) - Creamy cheesecake with a texture somewhere between flan and New York cheesecake. The New York Times calls this "the flavor of 2021." Burnt Basque Cheesecake is a crustless cheesecake that is baked low and slow in a water bath. We both enjoyed it. It didn't remind me of flan though. It was more of a cross between a New York cheesecake and a Japanese cheesecake. Normally, it should have a jiggly custody center, but ours was a bit overcooked. Even so, it tasted good. Ansot's Basque Rice Pudding ($4) - Creamy and sweet rice pudding with a hint of cinnamon, just like our Grandma Epi used to make. Delicious! Gateau Basque ($5) - A lemon shortbread heart filled with pudding and served with house made whipped cream. By this time, we were so full that we had this desert sliced in half and packed to go. Hence the reason it looks so small in the photo. It was delicious! We also both bought a Kouign Amann ($5.50), a flaky buttery French pastry that originated in Brittany, for breakfast the next morning. We thought it was good, but not great. Ansot's is one of only three places in the Treasure Valley, and likely all of Idaho, that makes this challenging and labor-intensive pastry. Highly Recommended!!! -- at Ansots Basque Chorizos.

Really, really good. I often eat basque when I'm in Boise but this place was new for me. I was there for a late afternoon lunch/early dinner and was hungry. I was leaving for the airport after I ate so couldn't deal with leftovers. I thought of a few different combinations that would let me try out a number of things but was counseled to get the chorizo platter. It was excellent. All 3 chorizos were great and I'm not sure which was my favorite. I guess what surprised me was that the textures varied considerably also. Service was friendly and prompt. Definitely a place I'll return to

An absolutely fantastic experience! Delicious wine, great food and charming service. I only wish I'd had the opportunity to visit earlier! After a single visit, I'm positive you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but I'll be reminiscing about the bread, Gateau Basque, cheesecake, and bread pudding until I get another opportunity to visit. Ansots is now on my to-do list for all my future visits to Boise.

Lovely, simple decor, delicious food, friendly service -- LOVED IT! It's nice to have another Basque option so close to the Basque Block. They've done a nice job spacing the tables to be COVID friendly, but we took advantage of the warm weather and sat outside. Also, I crave the cheesecake from La Viña in Donosti. It was such a treat to have it again in our very own town. Clams were incredible, especially when I was able to swap the chorizo for txistorra. I can't say enough great things about Ansots. Try it out for yourselves, you'll see! 10/10

Great little place if you desire a taste of authentic cuisine vs. the various medicore (this being generous....) chain eateries littering the landscape. Quaint cozy place with good food and service..don't forget the Basque cheesecake light and not too sweet!

One of the best meals you can get in Boise without a question. We love Ansots. The chorizo and clams & anchovy with piquillo pepper is my favorite

God tier food mostly. We got multiple entrees and 2/3 were amazing. The chorizo is a must. Wine was good. Portion sizes are small for this day and age, but actually they are totally fine if your not 300 pounds.

Wish there was more than 5 stars for Ansots. This hidden gem is one of the best eateries in Boise. Whether you like Basque food or have never had it you'll be amazed by the quality of this place. Save room for the Apple Bread Pudding with bourbon sauce. The only downfall, they are only open 10-3 Tuesday through Saturday.

Any restaurant that has an Ansotegui family member involved is ALWAYS going to be good. We went there for dinner and had clams & chorizo motzak, croquetas (both the jamon and the vegetarian), and the spinach filled piquillo peppers. Although they were all listed as small plates it was more than enough for a dinner. The sauce in the clam dish was so good we had to ask for more bread so we could soak it up! The chorizo is tender and the best we have ever had....we aren't exactly young, so that says a lot! The small plates are great so you can have a great dinner, and still have room for dessert. The rice pudding is a must, and the gateau basque was very good too. I can't imagine that here is anything that isn't delicious on the menu. The service was friendly and efficient. It is just a wonderful restaurant. But that is not a surprise with Dan and his daughter, Ellie, involved. We will be back. We hear that they may be offering cooking classes. If so, we are all in!

Ate here for the first time. Definitely will be returning. We had cups of lentil soup and vegetable soup. Both of which were delicious. Split the salad. Tuna, white asparagus, tomatoes, etc. and the peppers with anchovies. Brought back memories of basque cuisine in Spain.

Best place in Boise. Highly recommend! Had the croquettes, meatballs, and sandwich. Will be coming back again!

They have new hours, but the food, wine, espresso and pastries are still wonderful. Come on in and cool off!

We split a chorizo bocadilla sandwich, Jamon croquettes, and a cup of each soup. Pretty reasonably priced and my wife said it was the best meal she ever had. Not sure she is wrong. It was pretty spectacular.

Happy Halloween and if you are looking for your treat, here it is!! Wow! My black badge (there is a reason for that; ) friend Michele R gave me the hot tip regarding the talent in the kitchen of this new spot. She told me that my husband who is a big chorizo fan might find something he liked. Boy oh boy, did WE! I knew it would be good, but it was "Wow" good! We ordered wayyyy more than necessary but there were so many tempting choices. We ordered take-out. Folks, this take-out must be a lot of extra work for our restauranteurs and I for one am always grateful when they do take out correctly; easy on the environment packaging and instructions for serving ours had heating instructions written on the box. There is a short term parking near the restaurant, but if you call in advance you can probably get "alley" service. The portions at Ansots are VERY generous. We easily shared everything we ordered and will probably eat twice from the order. ( I could sit down and eat all of this ;) but I know better and today I am being good) Love of my life had the Rustic Pork Belly bocadillo. He did give me a little bite. It was served with a blistered sweet pepper. This dish is both beautiful and delicious. I tried the Basque meatballs which numbered SIX!; excellent and swimming in a delicious gravy (and I am not even a meat and gravy kind of girl). The Chorizo plate, to my astonishment, consists of three whole sausages. with generous amounts of grilled peppers, onions, and lots of excellent quality bread. The skinny spicy sausage was my favorite but the other two were fantastic. Desserts. I am not a big dessert person so when I say it is good, it has to be exceptional. These were all exceptional. Rice pudding for me is a comfort food. A giant serving (enough for two unless it is for me ;) . Hubby got the bread pudding. This grand portion is best shared; tender and rich . It does not need the toppings but if your sweet tooth loves sweet, you have plenty of topping. You probably think that was the end of our order. Nope. I read that Ellie is the Queen of Kougin Aman and so I just had to order one. I have no idea what the bar is for this dessert, but I think she must have set it. First of all it is a work of art. Cripsy yet buttery and sweet, but not too sweet, pastry, and something sweet and appley inside.

I just wanted to go to the Basque district, no specific restaurant in mind. I hit the jackpot! Pork belly sandwich, the meatballs, the goat cheese peppers, they were all 10/10! But the shining stars were the ham croquettes, followed by the service! Everyone, I mean every single member of the staff had conversations with us while we were there. You could tell that they were all proud of where they worked. True testament to the culture that the owner has put in place, nice guy too engaging us in conversation as we were standing to leave. I will be back over and over and over!

Ansots is even better than you've heard. Their food is crazy good. We've been to the actual Basque Country and outside of San Sebastián, Ansots is the place to get awesome food! Can't wait to go back!!!!
