The Best Restaurants In Albany Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Antepli’s busy space has big booths, long tables, a patio, and plant walls decorated with neon cursive—it feels very “River North bottomless brunch.” But there won’t be any mimosa-fueled shout-talking happening at this Turkish restaurant. Anything involving their freshly baked bread is a must, from cheesy pide with eggplant to crispy lahmacun stuffed with minced meat. And for mains, the must-order is their iskender—slivers of lamb and bread pieces with yogurt and a zesty tomato sauce. Chances are, there will be a few customers stopping by to pick up some baklava to go—and you should follow suit because Antepli makes some of the city’s best." - john ringor, adrian kane

Antepli - Review - Albany Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Antepli’s busy space has big booths, long tables, patio space, and plant walls decked out with neon cursive—think very “River North bottomless brunch.” But you won't have any rogue mimosa pitchers at this Turkish restaurant. Definitely get anything involving their freshly baked bread, from cheesy eggplant pide to crispy lahmacun stuffed with minced meat. And for mains, the must-order is their iskender—thin slices of lamb and bread pieces with yogurt and a zesty tomato sauce. There'll probably be a few customers stopping by to pick up some baklava to go—and you should, too, because Antepli makes some of the city’s best." - John Ringor

I had such a wonderful lunch here! The atmosphere was great, and the food was incredibly delicious. The accessibility was also excellent because there was ample parking available. The star of the show was definitely the Baklava (the pistachio dessert), which was incomparable to any I've had elsewhere—it was absolutely amazing! The strong coffee and black tea were also very delicious. In addition to the food and ambiance, I must mention our server, Su. They were so friendly and kindly explained the dishes, which made our lunch incredibly comfortable and happy. I will absolutely be coming back soon!

Google
The food was incredibly authentic, we ordered the Ali Nazek, İskender kebab, pide, and lahmacun, and everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and traditional, and the portions were very generous. The staff were also wonderful, super friendly, welcoming, and checked on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed. They also have a wide variety of dessert options that looked amazing, but we were so full we didn’t have any space left to try them. Highly recommend if you’re craving real Turkish cuisine!

Zahra A.

Google
Really nice restaurant everything tasted fresh, seating was good, I like the sauces and the eggplant food. The pizza with the meat was delicious. Music was calming and good. Waiter was nice.

Google
Delicious and authentic Turkish cuisine. We had breakfast there and everything was great. Loved the eggs. Simit, breads, cheese, olives, honey and jam, and fruits. Their pide was pretty darn good!

Google
Incredibly savory, nutritious, vibrant Turkish food in a comfortable and friendly, relaxed environment. We had the appetizer combo platter- mouth watering. Then we ordered some kabobs, a lamb shank, chicken chops, and stuffed grape leaves. All was delicious, we will be back. We felt at home as Greeks in this restaurant because the flavors and ingredients were so similar to ours.

Google
I found this place several months ago and went several times with friends. Their Turkish breakfast is to die for! Comes with a huge assortment of marmalade, cheeses, tomatoes, breads etc. as well as menemen (an egg scramble). Also comes with fruits. The Adana kebap and pide I also higher recommend! Everything is delicious and service and atmosphere is great! The staff are so friendly! It's one of my favorite spots in Chicago!

ERDEM U.

Google
The food is really good. Adana kebab was juicy and flavorful. Sis kebab, too. The service was fast and friendly. Comfortable place. Worth trying this place for real Turkish food.

Google
This restaurant left us with only the best impressions! We decided to take our food to go, and even in the packaging, the dishes remained fresh and full of rich flavor—authentic Turkish cuisine at its finest. Everything was absolutely delicious! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. While we waited for our order, they kindly treated us to fragrant Turkish tea, which was such a lovely touch. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, making us feel as if we had been transported straight to Turkey. We’ll definitely be coming back to try even more delicious dishes! P.S, you should try baklava and kadayif also(!!), beyti is a good choice for first try!

Yelp
Everything was so delicious that I completely forgot to take photos until we were halfway through! We'll definitely be back to try the main courses, as every dish passing by looked incredible. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by

Yelp
This local place was amazing. There is a small parking lot that offers free parking. The highlight here was the lahmacun. A thin crispy flat bread topped with meat. I would highly recommend that dish. The service here was exceptional. They were attentive and knowledgeable. The server was very helpful to explain the menu and gave recommendations. There's plenty of seating inside and I didn't need a reservation to have a table. I would highly recommend trying this place out!

Yelp
I came here with my friend yesterday and I love this type of food. I don't know enough about Kurdish food and Turkish food but have been to enough Turkish restaurants to understand this is very authentic. The beef and chicken thighs were amazingly succulent Service very prompt. Such a good vibe They have their own home made selection of baklava and there's about 8-10 different flavors to try Amazing If I lived in Chicago I would come here many times
google avatar

Yelp
So glad I found this Turkish spot! Highly recommend the Iskender kabob - the best I've had in Chicago! Also tried the pistachio kunefe and vanilla ice cream but sadly the kunefe was a little greasy and the ice cream had some ice crystals in it which made the texture not so nice. Service is friendly, the ambience is warm, casual, and family friendly. Another plus is that it's in a strip mall so there's a small parking lot, and it's a short walk from the Brown Line. Looking forward to returning for the Iskender and also to try their breakfast.

Yelp
My wife killed it with this recommendation. I'm always down for delicious lamb, and this place did not disappoint. Their food brought back so many memories of our time living in Turkey. The salad, hummus, rice, lamb, etc. made me miss that place so much. Our server was Turkish so it was cool to tell her our experiences and vice versa. Overall, I can't find anything to complain about. The chicken shish and lamb were cooked and seasoned perfectly. I didn't try the baklava, but my wife said it was delicious too. I'm spreading the word to anyone that goes to Chicago to eat here!

Yelp
What an amazing reminder of how delicious Turkish food is!!!! My family was so excited when I chose this and it was actually authentic Turkish food!!! The coffee was strong. The cheese pide was a great reminder for our boys that tasted just like what they used to eat overseas. The bread to dip in the hummus was great, and the hummus was smooth and flavorful. My chicken breast kebabs were grilled perfectly with the perfect amount of spices. My son loved his chicken chops and was shocked with the quantity. The baklava was super gooey and packed full with pistachios. The chocolate baklava was a nice addition too. I'm hoping they will add Cherry juice to their menu. Overall delicious and definitely coming back the next time we are in the area!

Yelp
Everything is absolutely delicious here. The vibe is nice and spacious, the staff are really friendly, and everything about the place is great. I ordered the iskender, kunefe, and turkish coffee. The iskender was a fantastic portion, so much meat, and the flavor was incredible. Lots of sauce, lots of yogurt. Loved my kunefe with the coffee as well. The kunefe was perfectly warm and the cheese was amazing. I hope to be back here very soon to maybe try something new but honestly probably order the same things. I would absolutely recommend this place! Top notch establishment.

Yelp
Great quality food Reasonable prices Vibes are not bad either! Service is fast and dtaff are understanding Kebob is the best! And the lamb shank is juicy and delicious.

Yelp
Charming Turkish spot in a strip mall with parking right out front. Clean and slightly elevated in style, but still casual enough to welcome almost anyone. Waiters and service were quick, kind, and unobtrusive. The "cheese" (lebneh) appetizer was a cream, not solid, with a generous amount walnuts mixed in, and served with flat bread that had a dash of sesame seeds on top. Lentil soup was tasty.

Yelp
AMG really is hidden gem! The food was amazing. There are a lot of vegetarian options as well! Hands down one of my favorites so far! The service was pretty good and the ambiance was really open and welcoming! Give AMG a try for good food!

Yelp
Excellent!! We went here to celebrate our daughters birthday and the experience was awesome. Staff is very helpful and ever smiling. Food is great, we ordered the family meal special for 4. It comes with tea, salad, soup, appetizer and mail entree. And their very special bakhlawa!! Highly recommend it. We will come again
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly staff and fast service. The pide was soo good! I'll definitely go back soon .

Yelp
We ordered: Lahmacun Iskender - Thin layers of lamb gyro over crispy bread, yogurt, special tomato sauce Pistachio Baklava Lahmacun was very crispy and tasty. It comes with fresh veggies to make a wrap with but it's a very small portion. Iskender lamb was very good. Great lamb flavor and tenderness was decent. The soaked bread under the lamb was a surprising find and delicious! Pistachio baklava and tea was a perfect dessert to wrap up the meal. No issues with service. Staff were very nice. Restaurant was spacious and clean.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was incredible! The lamb shank, in particular, was outstanding--full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Service was good, but they only had one host/waiter and one busboy for the entire restaurant. Every seat was filled, and it was a lot for just one person to manage, but the waiter handled it like a pro. He definitely deserves a raise! That said, they really need to hire more staff to keep up with the crowd. If you're patient this place is the place for you. Wait time due to being understaffed is long but nonetheless food is great! Cheers!!!!

Yelp
Oh my my! Albany Park! Um yes! Please if you haven't ever had the pleasure of dining her you MUST DO SO! So wonderful and I cannot wait to go back there next time we come to Chicago! great food, great atmosphere and service! 12/10 for sure! Thank you

Yelp
A great local, authentic spot with fair pricing and tasty + filling dishes. Highly recommend! My partner and I came here on a Sunday evening. We made a reservation and glad we did because the place was packed with families! Side note- the have plenty of highchairs for kiddos. We got a few dishes, such as the falafel, iskender, and the lamb adana. All of these were delicious and easy to share! We finished out with trying the walnut baklava and the pistachio baklava. We heard that the pistachio was the fan favorite, but we 100% enjoyed the walnut baklava the most, that we ended up ordering more. So tasty, filling, and a fun casual spot!

Yelp
On the overheard recommendation of a co-worker, a group of us decided to try Antepli. The group of us including a friend who **is** Turkish. They said it was legit good and the only criticism was it wasn't literally their mom cooking. Can't get much higher praise than it makes you think of mom's cooking. We got lentil soup, babaganoush, lahmacun, su boregi, cheese rolls, lamb adana, beyti, iskender, ayra, turkish coffee, tea, kuzu sis, a couple kinds of baklava, sutluc, and special kunefe with a slice of Turkish ice cream. The bread that came with for dipping or eating was amazing and delicious and comes warm. If you have never had Turkish ice cream, you should try this. It is a very different texture and it's delicious. I also have to say that their kunefe was incredible. Super crispy, buttery vermicelli, melty cheese, and very good pistachios. Plenty of syrup on it, too. Food came out quickly and regularly, they left a whole bottle of water right on the table and refilled if we needed, and eventually left several bottles for us; and they answered everybody's questions. Really nice people, super service. Can't split checks, so be prepared. The menu said they add a gratuity for groups but they hadn't on our check. We would have tipped more than that, in any case. They have a dessert case up front full of tempting and delicious things. Plus, they are right next door to a grocery that looks like it carries all the ingredients to make this food and then some. Lastly, I think this restaurant is alcohol free and halal. Which is important if someone needs that option.
google avatar

Alison Y.

Yelp
Awesome place with mixed service (friendly but not super efficient) but amazing food. They have a parking lot too which is always a plus! Their pide is an excellent appetizer and is great for sharing! I've had a variety of ask their shish kebabs/grill items but by far my favorite is the iskender. Something about the mix of lamb, tomato sauce, gravy and bread that just hits the spot. When dining in, they also have some great combo meals which includes apps, salad/soup, entrees and dessert that are a great value! Big plus is they serve cheese kenafeh though it's not my favorite in the city.
google avatar

Nikita B.

Yelp
Love love love this place for authentic tasting Arabic food! More than anything, the different types of baklavas caught my eye. I was able to try one of each and they all tasted exquisite! The interiors of this place also looked authentic turkish and there is plenty of seating for people to have a meal indoors. The service was also prompt, we were greeted upon entry and our food was served promptly. Overall a great experience, I will definitely be coming back here!
google avatar

Gaz H.

Yelp
Quality kitchen output and friendly peeps. Appetizers were super compelling. Mains were quality, but perhaps not ecstasy-inducing. The output of the kitchen is a bit uncoordinated, making who gets what when a bit of a crapshoot and either not everyone eats together or someone ends up staring at their food until it gets cold while waiting for their fellow diners' meals to appear. Tea has a large infusion of za'atar or something similar which may not be to everyone's liking. Want to return to sample the desserts!
google avatar

Yemna K.

Yelp
Turkish restaurant located in a strip mall. Don't be fooled by its unassuming location. This has to be the best Turkish food I have ever had. I believe the cuisine is more southern Turkey inspired which you can taste. The food has more spices without being spicy. I had the "Iskender." It was delicious. Lamb cooked perfectly with this tomato sauce. There's also a bakery that bakes goods daily. The baklava was delicious, very delicate with a few varieties. Staff is friendly. This is one of the city's hidden gems.
google avatar

Farstar L.

Yelp
Place does not look the cleanest. Went here on a recommendation. With plenty of other choices for middle eastern/mediterranean/persian around this area, why come here? Food is meh. Didnt try the dessert which theyre known for?
google avatar

Kristen A.

Yelp
I love everything about Antepli. The food is crazy good--my favorites are iskender and beyti kabob, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. One person in our party ordered the meat and cheese pide, and it was the biggest pide I've seen! We usually order kunefe for dessert, and our out-of-town guests are always surprised with how much they like it! It's a fun treat to enjoy and Antepli prepares it perfectly. The service is slower than what we're used to, but there's plenty of time to linger over tea and enjoy the company you're with. The restaurant is family friendly. I'd recommend ordering one ayran drink to share--it's an interesting change from sugary drinks!
google avatar

Steven H.

Yelp
I stopped here for the Kunafa, but ended up also ordering the pide, since it looked so good. We received a recommendation for the kunefe from a random stranger that we encountered earlier at another restaurant, and it exceeded our expectations. The top was crispy with the center gooey and sweet. It was my second time trying kunefe and definitely the best of the 2. Some of our group were quite knowledgeable on kunefe and middle eastern food generally, and they all agreed that both the pide and kunefe were delicious. Our server was friendly and accommodating. She kept our drinks full and answered some of our initial questions about the restaurant. We appreciated that they were willing to split the check evenly 4 ways. The atmosphere is casual but comfortable and lively. They have a nice bakery display case filled with delicious looking treats. I'll definitely have to save room to try some on my next visit.

Yelp
I was in Chicago for an Expo and decided to visit this restaurant on a Sunday just for dessert. I took a $48 taxi ride to get there. At the entrance, a hostess named Su kept me waiting for 3-5 minutes. Then she informed me they don't serve dessert on weekends and would not seat me. I explained that there was no such notice on their website or anywhere online and that I would just have a quick dessert and leave -- still, I was denied service. There were 4-5 empty tables inside, none of which had reservation signs. I asked for a manager, supervisor, or shift lead -- none were available. This is the first time I've seen a restaurant turn away a customer while having open tables. No management, no care, no professionalism. With this level of disregard, I can only imagine the quality of the food. My time and money were completely wasted. Truly disappointing.

Eliza J.

Yelp
The photos speak for themselves... this place is a must visit. Won't disappoint! We loved everything
google avatar

Chong K.

Yelp
We went there Sunday noon, had to wait 45 minutes for our food. Good food, good service and awesome manage

Cool B.

Yelp
I really like this place because of the good food. The service is good too. The pace is casual and very nicely decorated. If you go when it is cold outside make sure to dress warmly. The restaurant is not heated well that can ruin your dinning experience because of the it is cold. Also, there is a parking lot but it is always very crowded so you might have to park on the street. The restaurant is situated in a mini-mall. If you in the Lawrence/Kedzie area, you should plan for lunch or dinner here, you will enjoy it. The stuffed grape leaves that are a bit spicy are excellent. After dinner you should have some Turkish coffee and sweets.
google avatar

Latiful A.

Yelp
Came by for dessert. Service was nice, ambiance relaxed and the food was great. We had a type of a pudding and 2 different baklavas. The tea in my opinion is the highlight. Don't have the words to explain the flavor profile but it certainly enhances/compliments the sweets properly. A repeat type of establishment for sure.
google avatar

Sam K.

Yelp
First of all, best baklava I've had in Chicago, period. By a mile. Service can sometimes be confusing (why do they always seem surprised when a customer walks in?), but the food is great. I gotta admit that because of my Turkish relatives I was expecting a "big piles of meat" situation. But the serving sizes are reasonable and priced reasonably as well. In fact my lamb shank was cheaper on the receipt than it was on the menu. As far as the baklava, my absolute favorite are the cashew rolls, which are not too sweet. The midye are lovely as well, and are beautiful enough to be a lovely gift. I find my self finding reasons for bringing baklava to events often just so I have an excuse to come by Antepli.
google avatar

Anna G.

Yelp
Everything was so good!!! Not fancy, though there are some faux green walls with neon messages so popular on Insta these days, but don't come for the ambiance, come for the food because no matter what you order, it'll be fire. We got the sampler appetizer plate and basically licked it clean. The sesame bread that comes with for sopping up the dips/spreads is like fluffy heaven. We also got the sampler dinner entree because we just couldn't pick and it was generous and delicious. Don't skip dessert! The chewy ice cream and Turkish coffee are the perfect way to wrap things up.
google avatar

Candace H.

Yelp
Tried this new place in the neighborhood. It was amazing! Turkish food just like I had in Izmir. Seasoned well, reasonable prices, great service, and the place was super clean.

Shana H.

Yelp
Very delicious food and dessert, and our server Dildar was very attentive and on top of everything!! Highly recommend!

Yelp
We saw, we ate and we loved it! Service is excellent. Great place to enjoy the meal after a long trip. Soft music compete the ambiance! Their prices for 2 is great. Basically you get everything including tea. Great pleasure coming here.

Yelp
Tried for the first time last night after passing by too many times. Casual, inviting, family place. Excellent service! The food was FANTASTIC!!! Hummus creamy and delicious. Falafel crunchy and delicious. Everything was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Can't say enough good things about this place. Everyone in our group was extremely satisfied. This will be our new go-to when we're looking for yummy comfort food.
google avatar

Bill M.

Yelp
My bud and I stopped by Antepli today for lunch. Antepli is in a strip mall on Kedzie just north of Lawrence, and Turkish music gets you in the mood. The hard-covered menu in the restaurant is just a list of dishes and prices, so have a look at its online website for nice photos and descriptions that will help you figure out the Turkish food options. We split an order of six pieces of falafel, and boy were they good. The falafel were crispy, with a nice dipping sauce. We also had bottles of Turkish orange soda, similar to Fanta. My bud ordered the lamb adana kebab, featuring two links of seasoned ground lamb along with rice and salad. I tried a bit of the lamb and it was good. I ordered the lahmacun, one of my favorite Turkish appetizers. This is sort of a "Turkish pizza" and served with a wedge of lemon and a small salad, the serving size was just large enough to satisfy my lunch craving. We were also offered a sample of baklava as we were leaving, and it was yummy. The Turkish tea is apparently complimentary, but we did not partake.
google avatar

Amer A.

Yelp
I felt like I was transported back to Turkey. Delightful staff and comprehensive menu. Save room for dessert. So so good.

Seda F.

Yelp
One of the most authentic Turkish food we had in Midwest! We had İskender, Adana kebap, lahmacun, börek and lentil soup. Make sure to save room for künefe and baklava. Made from scratch and served with delicious Turkish tea. Will be back very soon (like tomorrow!)

Liz C.

Yelp
Behind the unassuming facade in the corner of a strip mall lies the outstanding Antepli. Inside we found a lovely, spacious restaurant and wonderfully friendly and welcoming staff. We started our meal with the cheese roll and falafel appetizers, and followed those with the lamb adana kabob and lahmacun. The flavors were all terrific. After we finished our meal, we stopped at the bakery counter at the front of the restaurant to pick out some house-made baklava to take home with us, and spoke with the lovely brothers who co-own the restaurant. We can't wait to get back there!
google avatar

Hubaab M.

Yelp
Great service, the food was awesome and it felt like I was in Istanbul again with the way the inside is lit up. We got the dinner for two and it pretty much came with everything on the menu. I really have nothing bad to say at all, everyone was so nice and everything was perfectly prepared and they didn't take too long to bring out the food either. Def check this place out you won't be disappointed.

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Nice dining room, friendly and helpful staff, great food. I will definitely return. Fun to browse the ethnic grocery store next door after dinner.
google avatar

Gina F.

Yelp
Nice place in the neighborhood! It doesn't look like much from the outside in the little strip mall, but inside is nice. They have a handful of tasty vegetarian options. The appetizer tasty was good, and the mozz and eggplant pide is tasty and big enough to share.

Botan A.

Yelp
Amazing food and great customer service. Great Middle Eastern food and desserts. Must visit!

Nur N.

Yelp
Oh my god!!!! It's delicious The most delicious food I have ever had. Adana kebab was so good You definitely should try cold baklava. The Turkish tea was great as always. The customer service was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful! I mean it was my first time and I absolutely loved it. I definitely would go back. I'm glad that I tried it! Definitely would highly recommend it!

Jihad N.

Yelp
The Antepli Turkish Gourmet is one of the finest Turkish restaurants in Chicago. The have recently completed remodeling and the restaurant looks great. They undoubtedly have the best baklava in the entire city. Also the quality of the food is as great as the quality of the baklava. My wife and I are long time patrons of this fine restaurant. We certainly without hesitation give them give 5 stars for the restaurant. They have good service and the food is always delicious and they treat us like family. Give it a try, you will not regret it.

Kadriah S.

Yelp
Good food and vibes. Mustafa was our server, very kind. Would go again! seated very quickly

Yelp
Love coming here with my friends for Sunday lunch. Delicious dishes that are always tasty. I keep craving the steak shawarma wrap. Good, pleasant service and a nice atmosphere to sit with family or friends.

Yelp
Seen very inviting upon walking in. But felt very rushed and prices weren't listed. When I made my choices and went to register he had already weighed it and said the price are $19.99 a pound is that ok? Well you've already assembled it. But $58.00 For a small tray of baklava, that at Nazareth Sweets is maybe $22 max and much better. This was soggy, middle was raw still in my opinion a total waste of money. We won't be returning, just had a craving for baklava and we had driven up north to Nazareth and they were closed.
