Anthony's Runway 84 blends old-school Italian charm with vibrant airline-themed decor, offering hearty fare and a lively atmosphere perfect for a cozy night out.
"We are living in the latest chapter of a South Florida icon, and it’s a cool one. This State Road 84 icon for 40-plus years reopened in ’23, sleeker and supper club-y than ever. Its baked clams oreganata, rigatoni cauliflower, and chicken parmigiana remain primo through the eras." - Jesse Scott
"If you’re willing to commute to Broward, Anthony’s is the Carbone of Fort Lauderdale. Technically Anthony’s has been in Fort Lauderdale since the ‘80s. But new ownership recently did a revamp that could earn a cease and desist letter from actual Carbone (yes, there’s spicy rigatoni). This version of Anthony's has a disorienting mix of genuine and forced nostalgia—which translates through the crowd: Lauderdale baby boomers partying their faces off and millennials looking for a Carbone dupe. And while the food is not as good as Carbone, we actually had a better time here. Anthony’s is an undeniable dinner party thanks to very good martinis and an excellent live band that makes the place come alive by crooning out high-energy classics in the middle of the dining room." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"Anthony’s is chaos—but we don’t necessarily mean that as an insult. The Italian restaurant, which has been in Fort Lauderdale since the ‘80s, has been revamped by new ownership. Now it’s got this slightly disorienting mix of genuine and forced nostalgia—which translates through the crowd: a fairly even split between Lauderdale baby boomers partying their faces off and millennials looking for a alternative. Food is no longer the point here. It’s overpriced and cold. And the makeover has pretty much erased the delightfully kitschy airplane theme of the old Anthony’s. But it’s an undeniable party. This is thanks to very good martinis and an excellent live band that makes the place come alive by crooning out high-energy classics in the middle of the dining room. You will leave this place slightly confused, full of rigatoni that tastes like it came from a box, but fairly sure you had a good time. " - Ryan Pfeffer
"Consider this Broward County’s sultry supper club, decked in velvet touches, mega-booths for families, and dimly lit chandeliers. Now 40-plus years in existence, the Fort Lauderdale spot reopened in 2023 after a major remodel. Fortunately, its wagyu beef carpaccio and hefty classic meatballs were not renovated and hopefully never will be." - Jesse Scott
