Antojitos Colombianos New Location | Eater San Diego

"A longtime favorite for Colombian cuisine in Logan Heights is moving to a new location: Antojitos Colombianos will uproot from its kitchen at 2851 Imperial Avenue—where it has operated for the last decade—to a newly furnished 1,000-square-foot restaurant space at 2040 Imperial Avenue, closer to downtown San Diego. Proprietor Javier Rodriguez said the move was prompted by the landlord's high asking price for the old lease; the restaurant will continue at 2851 Imperial Avenue until February 6 and is expected to reopen at the new location in mid-February with a virtually unchanged menu, with only a few possible adjustments. In business since 2010, it specializes in Colombian and Latin American cuisine and is famous for savory Colombian-style empanadas made from corn flour and deep fried and for its traditional bandeja paisa platter, which includes beef steak, pork belly, rice, beans, and a fried egg. The eatery also features a retail section stocking coffee, sweets, artisan crafts, and other items from Colombia, and is one of two Colombian restaurants within the City of San Diego’s limits." - Mario A. Came back from vacation in Colombia and craved the food. Found this gem and Antojitos Colombianos did not disappoint. Tried the bandeja, arepas, empanada, soup, and dessert all delicious. Try this place for amazing tasting Colombian food.

The food was great. Id say a 5-15 minute wait time for the food to be made as well. Grape soda? Yes Empanadas? Yes A plate of food that I knew nothing about but it was amazing? Yes Sample their coffee? Yes Complaints? No

Perfect spot if you want a good lunch. The cazuela was amazing, excellent service. Empanadas are authentic. Feels like home and also they have Colombian candy

This was my first time visiting and I was so impressed! The food was absolutely amazing – full of flavor, fresh, and delicious. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions. The service was excellent as well, the staff was attentive and welcoming from start to finish. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Colombian food. Definitely a five-star experience!

$1.99 for two “beef” empanadas with almost no beef. Flavor? Like hot Lay’s chips. Refused a soda after spotting sucralose & acesulfame — staff laughed, disrespected me. Garbage food. Garbage service.

The service was very poor. We felt rushed throughout our visit and had to constantly ask for basic things like utensils, extra plates, cups, and water—items we had already requested at the start of our order. The waitress’s facial expression and tone of voice made us feel like our requests were a bother. The food was very disappointing. The arroz con pollo had a rancid smell, and the bandeja paisa was not good at all—the chicharrón was very dry, the fried egg was overcooked, the carne asada was full of fat, and the plantains were burned on all three bandejas paisas we ordered. The pandebonos were hard, and the almojábana was also quite bad. The only good items were the empanadas, jugo de mora en leche, and jugo de maracuyá en agua. We came all the way from Los Angeles because four years ago the food was delicious, and we were hoping to have the same great experience. Unfortunately, this time we left very disappointed. To make matters worse, the bathroom was dirty and very unpleasant.

What a great experience! Food flavor was very authentic, good portions, great service. We had chicharrón, arepas, empanadas, cazuela de fríjoles, patacón, maduro and arróz con leche. After full bellies we were surprised with a couple of tinticos (black coffe) that really hit the spot. I'm glad we picked this place while visiting this area in California. Will definitely be back.

Food was good and priced about where I would expect for Colombian cuisine. Most items came out quickly but being outside it did seem we were forgotten about. Nice interactions when server did come by. Only reason for sitting out was we brought our dog which was great that they allowed.
