"A longtime favorite for Colombian cuisine in Logan Heights is moving to a new location: Antojitos Colombianos will uproot from its kitchen at 2851 Imperial Avenue—where it has operated for the last decade—to a newly furnished 1,000-square-foot restaurant space at 2040 Imperial Avenue, closer to downtown San Diego. Proprietor Javier Rodriguez said the move was prompted by the landlord's high asking price for the old lease; the restaurant will continue at 2851 Imperial Avenue until February 6 and is expected to reopen at the new location in mid-February with a virtually unchanged menu, with only a few possible adjustments. In business since 2010, it specializes in Colombian and Latin American cuisine and is famous for savory Colombian-style empanadas made from corn flour and deep fried and for its traditional bandeja paisa platter, which includes beef steak, pork belly, rice, beans, and a fried egg. The eatery also features a retail section stocking coffee, sweets, artisan crafts, and other items from Colombia, and is one of two Colombian restaurants within the City of San Diego’s limits." - Mario A.
