Where to Find Outstanding Mexican Restaurants Around D.C. | Eater DC

"A masa-grinding master from Oaxaca filled a taco vacancy inside Latin market La Cosecha with the 2024 opening of Apapacho. The taqueria from culinary couple Alam Méndez and Elisa Reyna slides into the sleek space left behind by Las Gemelas. The married duo most recently worked at D.C.’s Maiz 64, earning high praise for Méndez’s top-tier tortillas engineered with native Mexican corn and Reyna’s pastry skills. Apapacho’s headlining roster of tacos stars slow-cooked meats like al pastor, carne asada, and barbacoa, plus a vegetarian option (oyster mushrooms) to start. For drinks, look for (frozen) margaritas, mezcal cocktails, and Méndez’s personal favorite: micheladas." - Tierney Plumb

Best Places to Dine in NoMa and Around Union Market | Eater DC

"Culinary couple Alam Méndez and Elisa Reyna brought their famous tortillas engineered with native Mexican corn to La Cosecha this summer. The flavorful tortillas and Reyna’s pastry skills first brought them acclaim at D.C.’s Maiz 64; now there are rotating conchas and plenty of different tacos celebrating their strengths. The crispy, cheese-filled Gringa taco, stuffed with al pastor and topped off with hunks of pineapple, should not be missed." - Emily Venezky

Beautiful shirt and hat the we bought straight from Mexico at the Apapacho, beautiful products everyone complement my husband, the hat is amazing kept his shape on our luggage for about 17 hours to Greece so that tells you the great quality, just got another one but now for my father, can’t wait to gift it to him for Christmas. Thank you for always have a smile when we stop by, we love shopping at your store.

The sweetest owners with the cutest things to purchase. I purchased some hair clips and a jewelry box. I am now wishing I would have purchased more things. Their restaurant Fiesta Mexicana next door was a great experience with delicious food. I had the most heartwarming experience here! Definitely planning to visit again!

This store is amazing!!! My friends and I were headed to Fiesta Mexicana for dinner and just had to step into this store first. The owner was so sweet and helpful and I was so excited to see everything that was around the store! We bought candy and jewelry and we had an amazing dinner right after. We even found out that the owner of Apapacho and Fiesta Mexicana are married!! We had a great experience and I recommend anyone that is nearby to go and visit :)

Visted Apapacho for the first time yesterday and had a wonderful experience! The owner ( sorry, I didn't get your name!) was the sweetest and very passionate about Mexican culture. She explained to me that she sources all of the crafts available for sale from many different states across Mexico and how important it is for her to keep traditional Mexican culture and craft making alive. They have a variety of items such as candy/treats, crafts, clothing/accessories and art work all at very reasonable prices and believe me, if you're a fan of Dio De Los Muertos crafts or Frida Khalo, you're going to want it all! The attached restaurant, Fiesta Mexicana, has delicious authentic Mexican food and you're going to love that as well! Highly recommend stopping in to experience a bit of colorful, Mexican culture and warm hospitality. Will definitely be returning!
