Aparicio’s - Review - Austin - The Infatuation

"On the corner of Rundberg and Georgian Drive you’ll find Aparicio’s, a food truck with a bunch of covered picnic tables. Aparicio’s, which has been around since 2018, describes itself as “millennial & old school fusion cuisine.” This apparently means anything goes, from Hot Cheetos tacos (with Cheetos ground into the masa for bright red tortillas), over-the-top mangonadas, concha ice cream sandwiches, and burgers like the salchiburger (topped with sliced sausages and bacon). The machetes here are enormous affairs, so big that it’ll come on two plates wedged together. There are more creative fillings like the “pizzachete” (it’s got pepperoni), a Philly cheesesteak machete, or one with, yes, Hot Cheetos. But you can also get more standard options like their charcoal-grilled carne asada, al pastor with pineapple, chorizo, or campechano. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Google
I decided to try this place because of its high rating. The customer service was great, and as a new customer, they even let me sample their meat, which was a nice touch. However, I found the tacos to be overpriced for what you get—a basic tortilla with some meat, a small piece of avocado, and a few onions. As a Mexican, I had high hopes, but unfortunately, the tacos didn’t meet my expectations. I won’t be returning.

One Star I recently visited Aparicio's Austin Tx, and I was extremely disappointed. The food was absolutely terrible. All the choices they had were bland, dry, and flavorless. Everything tasted like it had been sitting out for hours, especially the cheetos. The horchatas tasted weird, too sweet and a little acrid, not at all like a traditional horchata drink. On top of that, the customer service was even worse. The young man taking the orders was rude and unprofessional, making the entire experience even more frustrating. He acted like he didn’t care about the customers or the quality of the food they were serving. On top of all that, the menu didn’t even have prices listed, which was really frustrating. They also don’t give you a receipt, making it impossible to know if you're being charged correctly—which I know for a fact I was overcharged because the guy working there got distracted and didn't write down one of the items but he still added it to the total, I told him and he didn't do anything about it. They scammed me, and they didn't care. The lack of transparency is really shady. The atmosphere is weird because the location is in a very shady place and in a bad neighborhood so you will get to see a lot of bad stuff happening ALL THE TIME like every single car illegally speeding by and homeless people coming in to the place. I will definitely not be coming back, and I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic or even remotely decent Mexican food. There are way better options elsewhere.

Google
The Food is really Delicious and Good. The Customer Service is nice. A little bit of wait for our food. Unfortunately the prices were not to my liking. It was well over 70$ for three people. I did not receive a receipt and may have been charged twice. I recommend the Dragon fruit drink. It is really refreshing. Lots of customers like to sit on the benches. If you like privacy or space when you eat, You may wanna take it go. It can get crowded. Parking is hard to find but that's due to the food trucks success and parking spaces usually filled by other customers. We had to park at another business and walk over. I diffently love the creativity of the dishes using Hot Cheetos. I give 4 stars instead of 3. Due to our food being hot and seasoned well.

Saturday night around 9:30pm the dinner area was almost Enty. I was really hungry and I had to pick up this place because they were always pack during passing by the area. I did ordered the asada beef machete and agua de horchata, My total price was $29 dollars without tips. The horchata was the best but my asada meat was red like pastor color so I have to go back and ask them if my order was pastor or beef? The lady told me that it was beef but marinated in red color and I told her that I was confused with the flavor but thanks for clarify that. In my opinion my asada meat looks completely different with others reviews photos here so I’m guessing they get the marinated meat from the meat market that day. Also there is no price on the menu so I have no idea how much was each item that I ordered. Do I planning to go back? No I don’t think so.

We loved this place so much! Not just because we share the same last name but because the food was soooo good, the service was great and the atmosphere was very relaxing. When we come back to Austin, we'll surely be visiting Aparicio's again. Thank you for helping make our Anniversary special!

Google
This was my first time here, I generally stay downtown or south of the river. This was well worth the drive. The birria tacos were made to perfection. The consome was thick, almost like soup. We also had al pastor quesadillo with hot cheetos.... I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

Google
tried their new dubai chocolate strawberry cup. the picture they promoted on fb looked sooooo good. this was my first time trying it so i was super excited to finally try it. sadly when i ordered it, it had very little chocolate and pistachio cream. mostly strawberries and katafafi . it was $14.50 of disappointment

Google
Very delicious food we had the chicken machete it had a nice flavor salsas weren’t too spicy in my opinion but I’m not picky! Still passed the vibe check.🔥 Strawberry horchata I was delicious as well as the coffee - drinks were probably my favorite over all!

Yelp
OH MY GOD.. the Texan taco is beyond good. We have been to Aparicios Hero Way Location few times but never ordered the Texan taco. Went to this location on our way to see a show in downtown. Got the carne asada and it was sooo good, it's full of toppings which is amazing and that tortilla that they use is soooo good. We also tried their Birria tacos and it was very flavor and they give a very generous amount of Birria broth for filling your tacos. Highly recommend going to.

Yelp
The way this place fell off is mind boggling. Literally 3/4 of the menu was unavailable. Service was ehh. Food was nothing like what I remembered or previously experienced, granted it had been well over a year so I did expect a difference but this was just a disgrace. The wait was ridiculous, waited about 25 mins for 4 tacos that came out cold. Chances of returning are slim to none.

Yelp
Went to the new Leander location this evening. It's very close to my house and I had heard great things about this place, so I decided to try it. We had: Carne assada quesadilla Carnivore quesadilla Carnivore tacos Everything was really delicious and fresh. The meat was well seasoned and it had that perfect char that enhances the flavor. I had 2 tacos and they were a very good portion. Their salsa verde is the best one I have ever tried. Hubby had the carne assada quesadilla and he said the flavors were awesome. We had a lot of food, but we did not feel heavy cause the food is really fresh. Can't wait to be back.

Yelp
Hidden in a strip mall off Hero Way Aparicios is serving up legit Mexican tacos. They have a limited menu but what they serve is made-to-order flavorful and bountiful. Really hungry? Then go for their Texas-sized taco which covers a large platter and will fill your la panza. All their tacos are over-stuffed and are served on either corn or flour tortillas. We opted for their Asada and Pastor tacos. The Pastor was wonderfully done with strips of fresh pineapple. However, the Pastor was on the dry side. Certainly edible but notup to par based on our previous visits. They do offer Mexican coka and a wonderfully refreshing Dragonfruit pineapple drink. Check out the Scarface wall art and the music is always interesting hip hop, to 80s, to Tejano... Pro tip: No breakfast or lunch tacos for you as they are open Thurs to Sun 6 PM to 1030PM. No alcohol but you can BYOB.

Yelp
This is my 2nd time visiting the Leander location on Hero way.Stoped in to get these famous fantastic tacos to go for dinner. With this large Dragonfruit and pineapple drink. It has big chunks of the fruit So yummy This is real authentic Mexican food Cooked with love This will be my twice a month place to eat

Yelp
I really like their elotes! It was only $5 for the whole plate. Really worth it. I got it with hot Cheetos too. They also give you a buzzer, so you can wait inside your car if it's cold. There are also tables, so you can sit outside to eat. There's a small parking lot next to it.

Yelp
The machetes are expensive for the amount of meat they have but they are good size and the tortilla for it is really good. Salsas are ok.
google avatar

Yelp
Holy hot Cheetos batman! Aparicio's is great, everything has some sort of hot Cheeto aspect be it a tortilla made of hot Cheetos or just it being covered in hot Cheetos or sometimes both. The Machete's are huge there's enough food for two people to share. The shakes are also super tasty. This is a very cool spot. Go here!

Yelp
We went to the taco truck location on North Lamar. Their food was average and they actually closed the window on us so no one else would order after us. Too much of hype for some below average quesadillas.

Yelp
I had the Gansito shake. If you're unfamiliar with Gansitos, they're a Mexican snack cake filled with strawberry jelly and cream and coated with chocolate. The shake's texture is great and it tastes exactly like a Gansito. It's topped with whipped cream and fresh strawberries, and also comes with an entire Gansito! It was really tasty and so big. I couldn't finish it in one sitting, but I was happy to save it in my freezer and enjoyed having it for dessert the next day.

Yelp
Food was delicious! The Horchata de Fresa was amazing too. Definitely recommend to try it out.

Yelp
Let me just say this... I've live all over the US and LA was one of the places I frequent very often... these tacos here were amazing. They have a theme of Texas size portions which I think is Genius but to be completely honest I wasn't expecting it to be that big! Ordered 4 of the Texas sized carne asada tacos and let me tell you flat out delicious!! Meat was seasoned well and cook on open flame with that char we all know and love! And let me not forget about the drinks!! Wow the strawberry lemonade is absolutely amazing and would drive 30mins to get it daily... filled with fresh lemonade made daily and chucks of freshly chopped strawberries... Shessh Will be coming back to this place often as it's close to my house and it's hard to find a decent taco let along char grilled Carne Asada mmm mmm goood !!

Yelp
First time here. The wife and I were just looking for something new. We were absolutely surprised and thought that everything we had was amazing! I got the beef and chicken tacos. Both were amazing and had me filled!

Yelp
Ladies and gentlemen of Leander, hear my story of the greatest restaurant, and hero who owns it. I went to the Leander Trunk or Treat this weekend with my kids, and my son locked the doors before I could get the keys, my phone and purse out. This was in front of Aparicio's. I walked the kids to the event, we walked back and I was going to eat there after, but we couldn't get the car unlocked. My dearest friend who brought her kids and family took my kids home, and I waited for a tow truck. Thanks to my smartwatch I could call one, but that's a separate story. Smart watches work, but they aren't great if they aren't close to the phone, so I had to stay near my car. And I waited... And I waited some more... Finally after an hour, a kind man walked out of Aparicio's named Victor. He's the owner. He offered me a strawberry lime-aid, and a chicken taco. He fed me, he told me about his restaurant and his food truck, and asked for nothing. And as the hours ticked by because it was getting outrageiously cold, he finally told me he would help me get a locksmith since my tow truck never came. He fed me, he got me warm, and he helped me get safe and had someone get my car open. Superman never fed anyone, so in my book, Victor is greater than Superman. Now let's talk about the food. Not only was that the best chicken taco I ever had, and I've had many, the tortilla was fresh and fantastic. This is authentic food, not frozen, not preformed tortillas, but made by hand in house. That alone is worth it. From the amazing Scarface homage to the way that everything is perfectly clean, to the beautiful presentation of the food, this is probably the greatest place to eat in Leander. It's in that same spot that Farm to Fork used to have. I highly recommend it. I brought my husband back the pastor taco, and he's in heaven as I type this. It's delicious! If you are into authentic Mexican food, that is fresh, seasoned perfectly, and made to order, this is your new spot, as it is surely mine. The portion size makes sense for the pricing, and the iced coffee horchata is to divine and I can't wait to try the quesadillas. So not only did my life get saved, I once again have the perfect place to get real tacos in my life. Victor you are a hero, and an amazing chef. Thank you for everything. I will be back and with my kids and I promise, we will not lock ourselves out of the car again. =)

Yelp
Wow! Had the pastor tacos and a Horchata there tonight and it was excellent. Love the homemade corn tortillas - the pastor filling was so flavorful and yummy with generous touches of pineapple and cilantro. The Horchata was deliciously rich, silky and creamy and not overly sweet. Friendly service with a smile. I'll definitely be back to try some other items on the menu.

Pwrlftng ..

Yelp
Aparicios is now doing breakfast on Saturday and Sundays! This stuff is soooo good. They have breakfast tacos ( both regular size and machete) along with Chilaquiles. The OJ is fresh squeezed and the Iced Coffee Horchata is da bomb. If you're looking for authentic Mexican - do yourself a favor and checkout Aparicios. The staff is always looking to try new things and receive feedback and it's such a friendly place. Located off of Hero Way in Leander - the restaurant is towards the back ( actually a side store) of a small strip mall. Look hard - you will be rewarded!

Yelp
Aparicios is a food truck off of Runberg and Georgian drive. There's parking to accommodate for about 8-10 cars. We originally went to Aparicios to try their "antojitos" and decided to try their food while we were there. Shakes - we got the Pingüino shake and the Gansito shake. The portions are generous and one shake is enough for two people. We each had more than half our shake leftover. The Pingüino shake tasted like a normal cookies and cream shake. The Gansito shake tasted just like a Gansito... and it had a full Gansito inverted into it! If you've never had a Gansito, just imagine vanilla bread, filled with just enough strawberry jam, covered in chocolate and add little chocolate bits to it. So yummy! As far as the food goes - it was good but it wasn't great, to be completely transparent. The machete is massive (2 ft)!! You can get two flavors and they'll split it right down the middle. We liked the Carne Asada with hot Cheetos more than the al pastor. There was no line when we got there. Staff is friendly and service was fast, it probably took about 10 minutes to order and get our food. Staff is wearing masks and they have hand sanitizer readily available. I don't think we'd go back for more food but would definitely go back to try more of their antojitos.

Yelp
My sister-in-law recommended this place after seeing all the delicious food pictures on social media, LOL. Since we live in Buda, we travelled quite a ways to sample this little food truck. It's permanently placed in a small parking lot with a couple other establishments in the Hispanic part of town in north Austin. They have constructed a patio-like area with picnic tables to eat at for their customers. We placed our order and weren't kept waiting long. I shared a machete with my mom because wow were they BIG! My brother didn't realize the drink he ordered would be spicy and humbly requested something else, and the staff decided to bring out FIVE additional drinks to let us ALL try their unique beverages (the sweet ones that white folks can handle LOL), which was really awesome of them! Basically $25 worth of drinks on the house. They wanted to make a good impression, I think... But all the drinks were delicious! I especially enjoyed the passion fruit variety. My only complaint was how loud the music was blaring the entire time. I suspect they might've been attempting to drown out the road noise from the street nearby but I could barely talk to my family while we were there.

Baldemar Z.

Yelp
Drinks - Amazing! Food - full of flavor and fantastic! Service - great! The mood - chill and relaxed Do not pass this place up. It is definitely a hidden gem.

The food in the Leander location is delicious. Highly recommend! Great taste and great service. Love it

Yelp
Amongst a plethora of taco stands in Austin, this one is certainly unique. My partner tried the carne asada machete. It was $20 but filled two plates. It was quite good. He sent me back the next night and let me know he wouldn't be sharing , I ordered the hot Cheetos taco plate al pastor. It was also good. The Cheetos come on the side to stay crisp and YES I put them on there. I'll try something different next time, but ya just gotta, you know? The shakes are gargantuan, much too much for this ice cream lover. They were impressive, nonetheless. We'll be back when my partner gets the craving and I'll be happy to work my way through other menu items. Also: prices are on the high side for a taco stands IMHO, but I guess they win as I'll be back.

Antonio R.

Yelp
The best service the delicious food and a relax ambiance,I visit this place in Leander ,but for me? Is the best place,I recommend this place is a lilfare hut it's ok I love it ,I don't alike it...".I LOVE IT "

Yelp
A really fun and creative food truck! I saw they had footlong tacos so my boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday night. It got pretty busy! They gave us a sample of all of their meats, and they were so tender and delicious. We were told we could do half and half foot-long taco, so we got half al pastor & half carne asada. We added hot cheetos to it as well. The truck had an awesome playlist and had a lot of tables to spread out and eat. I saw they had a lot of milkshake options as well. So random but I'm here for it! If I am in the area again I would definitely stop by! Our taco was delicious and so filling, we didn't have the opportunity to try anything else.

Yelp
I had a little trouble finding this location but overall it's a decent location with okay parking. I came right when they opened. I was the only person dining in but they had several to go and pick up orders. My first thought when walking in was "this place is neat" it has a old godfather theme and plenty of seating. I love the fun selfie area by the pool table and some other areas around the restaurant. This location is still working on a liquor license so they we're giving away free beer. They have a fun list of limeades and lemonades that come in a huge glass jar. The menu is still coming together but for a limited time they are offering birria tacos which I ordered. The price is a bit high compared to other birria tacos in the area (my drink and tacos came to $28, the corn was free). I am only giving 4 stars because of pricing it's a bit much. I was the only person in the restaurant so I had A+ service from everyone. The location was clean and I look forward to visiting after they get on their feet.

Yelp
My wife and I shared a Machete Al Pastor which is like a large quesadilla with marinated pork meat..... more than enough food for us. It was very tasty and the red and green salsas were very authentic. I liked the red salsa and my wife preferred the green salsa. We will definitely be back to try the tacos or a different machete.

Yelp
First time here and definitely won't be my last. It's a crazy combination of your typical Mexican food truck eats and next gen stuff. For instance "hot Cheetos tacos". Who would've thought. Old and new. Bold and different. I can't find the words to describe the crazy ideas these people came up with! A ganzito shake?! Absolutely insane!!! If you're an old school Mexican type of eater then you'd know just how insane this entire menu sounds. I got the carne asada plate. I'm going to be straight up, for $19 it was good but too pricey in my opinion. The meat was definitely cooked great but was very tough to chew in my honest opinion. That was literally the only downside of my entire experience. The hot Cheetos tacos were delicious and very, very different. The salsas were fantastic, the meats were very well seasoned and tasty. I will definitely be back on a cheat day to have all of their shakes in one sitting (just kidding, that's an overload of sugar! Lol). Overall it was definitely great but it would be a 5 star rating if only the fajita was a bit more on the tender side. Other than that, keep up the great work y'all! Definitely putting a stamp on changing the game in the Mexican food truck industry!
google avatar

Marissa B.

Yelp
Our little one came across a hair in her taco so not the best first experience. For $60 worth of food we lost our appetite after seeing this only a few bites into our dinner and threw away the rest. The s'more's milkshake and the pina drink was good but the food wasn't too flavorful. The menu is super creative too but hairnets would be a good investment.
google avatar

Donald Lawrence A.

Yelp
tried the Leander location, just awful! a few bites of the carne asada were ok, everything else was terrible. asked for no onions, it was covered in onion. grilled tortillas were burnt. guacamole was flavorless. most of the asada was average or below. the El pastor quesadilla was terrible! the street corn even worse! by far worst I've ever had. and they kept blaring the worst song I've ever heard, some stupid "let's get down to business" crap that went in for 20 minutes and repeated the same stupid thing 3,792 times at least. just an overall awful experience definitely won't be back.

Claudina P.

Yelp
The Leander location is amazing. Our party had the following tacos: Chicken, Al Pastor, Carne Asada, and Carnivore all on these amazing flour tortillas! We had 2 different drinks: Pineapple Water and Blue Lagoon. Delicious and giant sizes!!! The tacos are incredibly flavorful and all came with large portions of chicken/pork/beef and with just the right proportions of all the taco extras you wanted added: pico, guacamole, onions, etc. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Rudy D.

Yelp
Great Food! I Had the hot Cheeto Tacos and hot Cheeto burrito and my husband had the carnivore machete ! Amazing ! Flavor was so authentic ! If you are a food truck foody, you have to try !!

Ethan B.

Yelp
Great service and great food. Recommend the Hot Cheetos Diablo Machete and their milkshakes. They have many Hot Cheeto based foods and they are all so good. Very nice spot too.
google avatar

Alison C.

Yelp
I was trying to get here for weeks and am glad I finally went! The food was decent but definitely more hype than I was expecting. The machetes are a fun though but a bit greasy and the al pastor wasn't the best I've had. And the hot Cheeto elote was a strange texture. Overall, I'm glad I came here and I'd probably come back if I was in the neighborhood but I wouldn't drive 30 minutes again for it.

Cary F.

Yelp
Awesome. Best was anything with the asada. Corn with hot Cheetos was good. Next time will definitely get the Asada machete or the Philly cheesesteak. Would also get the Asada plate. Marzipan milkshake was just OK. Next time will try the s'more
google avatar

A J.

Yelp
I got lured in by their fancy FB posts and was so excited! I was very disappointed! Tables were disgustingly dirty so we took it to go, I ordered the machete w/ no avocado sooo I also got no beans? The corn tortilla wasn't cooked all the way and while the meat had good flavor it was really fatty and in huge pieces. Never again

Yelp
We are a family of 5 and was hoping this place was going to be good. We went to their new location in Leander on Saturday at 5:30 for dinner. Ordered 2 carne asada tacos, cheese quesadilla, hot Cheetos quesadilla, chicken quesadilla, Texas sized carne asada, 2 waters, Dr Pepper, sprite, and a horchata. All in all it was about $100. We were given number 7. Drinks came out quick minus the sprite. After 20 min or so food started coming out. We got the hot Cheetoh quesadilla and 2 cheese quesadillas. None of the wait staff came by to see if everything was correct. So I walked up to the service window to explain that we got a cheese quesadilla instead of a chicken quesadilla and that we were still missing a sprite and the 2 carne asada dishes. I received the sprite right away. The chicken quesadilla came out 10 min later and still no carne asada dishes. After another 15-20 minutes Again none of the wait staff came by. I went back up to the window to inquire about my missing food. I was told we orders were mixed up and that they would make it right away. I asked for it to go since my kids were already done eating. They brought out the 2 tacos and a mangonada on the house for the wait. Still missing my Texas sized carne asada I asked again. By now we had been there for an hour and a half but I would've have just left but that Texas sized taco was $20 and I was still hungry. I finally got the food and took it home. When I got home both the tacos and the Texas sized taco had just meat and cheese without the fixings. Overall very disappointed in the food and the service. The best part was the on the house mangonada. Maybe they are still new but figured I would share our experience.

Yelp
Not going back, I don't recommend this place at all, it's overpriced I pay $45 for 2 tacos 1 machete and 2 drinks it's ridiculous. The place has tables but they are really dirty and they have a salsa "bar" but with nothing in it. There are flies everywhere, they need to work on their cleanliness. The food wasn't good either, the meat was hard and not cut, the tortillas where hard, basically if you have kids avoid ordering food for them.
google avatar

Bryan L.

Yelp
Foods greats but they take forever .... I ordered a machete and there was like 5 people before me and it took them a whole hour to make to give me my machete

Delia L.

Yelp
I ordered a salchi-burger with a Mexican Coca Cola it was amazing I felt like I was in Monterrey Mexico enjoying the music and food! They also have this new 3 leches shake I need to try next time

Grabiel R.

Yelp
great service amazing food recommend if you like tacos that're 5 stars 100% going to continue to come here for sure!!

Yelp
Great Mexican food with splash of creativity. They accept cash or credit cards and have a huge menu
