where to start?!
now we know how lucky we were to snag a table -- I was online and saw that the restaurant was booked out until the end of October, when a table popped in for the same day, a last minute cancellation.
Communication with the restaurant was quick and perfect when confirming at such short notice.
The drive through wild countryside was lovely, and once arrived it was immediately clear that this is a special place.
We chose the "menu première approche" at 65 euros - there is a bigger menu at 85, and wine pairings at 40 and 55, respectively. On weekdays there is a lunchtime menu at 38 euros.
The wine list is extensive, interestingly sorted by vintage, and well-priced.
The entire experience was extraordinary.
Service in the small dining room is polished while not being too stiff - lots of smiles from friendly and competent staff.
Good advice given on the wine selection.
And the food -- divine!
There is no printed menu and it is all a great surprise, and we settled into it.
Every one of the many small dishes was perfectly prepared, inventive is saying little, and fully accomplished.
Each bite brought explosive flavors and textures -- surprise after surprise.
Previous reviews talk about small portions - criticism I have seen frequently by people not used to service of multiple small dishes.
We left more than full (and that was on the "small" menu....).
We had nice local wine.
Next time we will go for dinner, with the big menu and wine pairing -- if we are lucky enough to get a table!
