Where to Eat and Drink in Sevierville, Tennessee | Eater Nashville

"Serving breakfast through dinner with an extensive orchard on-premise, and views of the Great Smoky Mountains, every meal starts with piping hot apple fritters they’ve actually trademarked. The Southern-style menus are extensive. But, what you won’t find are the libations made from said orchards, as the restaurant is dry. The good news is that the cidery’s tasting room, along with a winery, are right next door within this all-things-apples compound of eateries."

Where to Eat and Drink Near Great Smoky Mountains National Park | Eater

"With a legacy dating back almost a century, Applewood Farmhouse reigns as Sevierville’s oldest independent restaurant. It’s in a historic barn building amid rows of apple trees, so naturally, apples are front and center in offerings like apple juleps, apple-cinnamon muffins, and apple fritters. Meanwhile, Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant and Applewood Farmhouse Grill, two adjacent all-day restaurants created to meet customer demand, peddle mountain-friendly fare like ham biscuits, chicken and dumplings, and crispy chicken livers with cream gravy. Nestled on vast acreage of fruitful farmland, the farmhouses-turned-restaurants have earned their reputation as pastoral fantasy spots." - Matt Kirouac

Our waitress was really nice and attentive. The food was delicious. We ordered the sugar cured ham and the sampler trio with sides of mash, collard greens and green beans. The apple cobbler was a really nice way to end the meal. Definitely would return. It's family style eating

LOVE the outdoor seating. Especially during the winter when they have the fire pit going❤️Great selection of food. Excellent service. Of course everyone loves the Apple Fritters, and apple butter. My only complaint is that they took away the grill cheese sandwich with the chicken noodle soup. That was all of our favorites. Please bring it back

Okay, we went here for breakfast and this place was amazing. Historic charm all through the building and grounds. We sat at a special table which was two porch swings on either side of a table, something that I had never seen before. You get free apple fritters with apple butter with your order, and they are incredible. Our waiter was friendly, service was fast and the food was delicious. It was rather pricey for the breakfast that we had, but it was worth it in my opinion. We even ended up taking some pictures outside of the restaurant around their gazebo. I will definitely be eating here again when I return to the area.

Google
We ordered the chicken strip salad and the chef salad and they were massive. We could have easily shared one of the salads and still been full. The apple fritters were a nice touch but I wasn’t a fan of them. They were more fritter meets hush puppy than anything Apple. Apple pieces were very minimal as well as the apple flavoring in them. Not something I would buy or choose myself. The little soups were hot and full of flavor we both really liked those as well. The service was nice, wish she would have filled glasses more but that is the only complaint. All in all it was a good experience and meal.

Google
Incredible staff, beautiful dining areas with tons of character. Food was not bad, just not great. Looks the part as you can see in the photos and the food was “fine.” Scrambled eggs were like powdered eggs, gravy seems like chain restaurant which this place is not…I’d think they’d rock a great southern country gravy but it was meh. Again, the people are super sweet and attentive. Kitchen needs work…shame this place gets out cooked by Cracker Barrel.

While visiting the area, we stopped for breakfast and could not be happier. Hands down, best pancakes i have ever had. For the first time in my life, I didn't even put syrup on them! The butter and blackberry compote was phenomenal. The table was given complimentary apple fritters with apple butter and a small cup of juice. The apple butter was also the best I have ever tasted, and the table agreed! The portions were very generous, and everything tasted amazing. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were originally sat where some of our party was in the walkway, and we asked to be moved because of this. The seating host without hesitation moved us to a more comfortable table. When we visit the area again, we will go back! I'm going through blackberry pancake withdrawal!

Applewood Farmhouse sits in a very convenient spot and makes a cozy first impression with friendly, welcoming staff. A basket of complimentary apple fritters arrives at the table with apple butter and a sweet apple julep, fun regional touches that start the meal on a high note. Refills on drinks are technically unlimited, though our server was juggling a lot of tables so it sometimes took a while to flag her down. For the kids, each meal came with a cookie plus lemonade, chicken nuggets, and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese disappeared in minutes; the nuggets didn’t get quite the same enthusiasm. I ordered the Applewood Famous Southern Fried Chicken platter. It was a huge portion: crisp, juicy chicken pieces (large enough that I only managed the leg), creamy mashed potatoes, flavorful loaded potato soup, and surprisingly good coleslaw, all delicious and very filling. My husband chose the spicy chicken dumplings and felt they were just okay, not entirely worth the price compared with other entrées. Prices do feel high, and it’s clear the complimentary extras are baked into the total cost, but the food quality and generous portions help justify it. If you’re hungry for classic Southern comfort food and don’t mind paying a little more for the experience, and the fritters, it’s a worthwhile stop.

Google
Nice comfortable atmosphere. The food was horrible! The pork chop was boiled and then grilled to give grill marks. The chicken nuggets were most likely Tyson’s and the macaroni was lain Kraft from a box. That pork chop, I had to spit it out! The little drink of juice they provided was watered down and tasteless. The apple fritters were good.

Yelp
We came here after a day at Dollywood hoping it would not be too crowded and away from the other hustle and bustle of Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg and we were SO pleasantly surprised!! The area this restaurant is in has so much - a creamery, winery, and shops. The food seemed a little pricy at first until we realized all entrees came with fritters and jam appetizer, an apple juice, soup, two sides, and a dessert. We got the broccoli cheddar soup instead of vegetable soup and LOVED it! We love when a restaurant makes ordering easy, and this one did. We felt right at home too with the warm and inviting country atmosphere of the inside of the restaurant. There are fire places so I'm sure it's so pleasant too in the cooler months! We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Well, let me tell ya, stepping into the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant is akin to coming home after a long journey, where the smells are as comforting as a warm embrace from your grandma. Nestled in the heart of the South, this establishment isn't just a place to eat; it's a veritable pilgrimage for those in search of the soul of Southern cooking. From the moment you set foot on the wrap-around porch and hear the creak of the wooden floorboards, you know you're in for an experience steeped in tradition and smothered in hospitality. The air is thick with the aroma of apple fritters being fried to golden perfection, a signature welcome that sets the tone for a meal that's sure to leave you loosening your belt. The menu is a love letter to Southern cuisine, offering everything from chicken fried chicken that's crispy on the outside and tender as a lullaby on the inside, to catfish that'll make you swear you're dining riverside. And the sides? Honey, they're not just sides; they're co-stars. Whether it's the creamy, dreamy mashed potatoes or the green beans cooked with enough bacon to make you want to slap your mama, each dish is prepared with a generosity of spirit that's as bountiful as the portions. But what truly sets the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant apart is the apple butter. Yes, sir, that apple butter, served with a warmth and sweetness that could only come from apples picked right there on the premises, is the heart and soul of the meal. It's like spreading a little bit of love on every biscuit. Dining here isn't just about filling your stomach; it's about feeding your soul. The staff treat you not as a customer, but as family, sharing stories and smiles with a sincerity that's as refreshing as the sweet tea. So, if you find yourself yearning for a taste of the South that's as authentic as it is delicious, mosey on down to the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant. Just be warned, you might leave planning your next visit before you've even pulled out of the parking lot. It's more than a meal; it's an experience that'll have you saying "bless their hearts" in the best way possible.

Yelp
This place is pure nostalgia for me. My grandmother LOVED the Apple Barn. Any time we'd go the Smoky Mountains this is where she wanted to eat. I remember as a child eating the fritters and Apple butter. So when I was recently in Sevierville I wanted to go have a meal here. We had their breakfast and it was delicious. The portion was huge. We kind of also wanted to try the lunch but couldn't even finish all of our breakfast. The service was perfection. It felt like going to eat at my grandmother's friend's house. Our waitress was so sweet. The wait is worth it, but I have to say, despite the front porch being absolutely packed with people there was no wait. There are multiple rooms you can sit in to eat, and even a porch area. Every room is cute and quaint in its own unique way. Do note there is one room in particular that is full of stained glass windows and swinging seats at some of the tables. It's beautiful with the light coming in. Do take some time to visit the other shops on property.

Yelp
Tried it on vacation, it was a decent breakfast. Reminds me of a Bob Evan's style restaurant. Ok if that's your kind of place. Just not for me. Staff were friendly and food was decent. The best parts were the cats playing in the parking lot and the free apple fitters. I understand you can get those next door to go. Would choose to just do that next time and get breakfast at a great place.

Yelp
We arrived in Pigeon Forge with plans to visit Dollywood but there was a huge thunder/lightning storm so we stopped in for breakfast. This place is so cute (kinda like an Apple compound-cider mill, winery, Christmas store and candy shop on the same premises as the restaurant. I loved the welcoming wait staff and complimentary Apple julep and Apple fritters/Apple butter. The portion sizes are generous and there is tons of seating and parking. They take the name of your party and there is covered porches where you can wait and hear your name called over the intercom. No real healthy or light options, this is stick to your ribs Appalachian food options. My skillet meal was a bit greasy but the flavor of everything I had was good.

Yelp
This place is cute and the service was excellent. The food was a different story. We ordered several dishes. The fried catfish tasted fishy and oily. The meatloaf and the chicken julep were blah at best. The fried chicken was ok. Our sides were very disappointing. The roasted corn and the sweet potatoes both tasted as if they have been reheated. How can you mess up roasted corn and baked sweet potato??? we also ordered fried okra but again it was not very good. I think they have an issue with the oil. On the other hand, the complementary apple fritters and the complementary potato soup were exceptional. The bill was $112 without tip. I feel terrible for the really sweet waitress, but This place was not worth it at all.

Yelp
If you are in the area, you should take the time to visit this place and allocate at least 2 hours for a meal and exploring!! This is a small community of shops!! It's really cool. Depending on your likes - you might spend some money!!

Yelp
Hey there! So, let me tell you about my first eating experience in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. It was absolutely incredible! Not only was it my first time in this stunning town, but we also stumbled upon this amazing place to eat. And boy, oh boy, the service provided by Miss Ruthie was out of this world! She made sure everything was perfect at our table, going above and beyond what we've experienced in the last six restaurants. I can't even begin to express how grateful we were for her attentiveness. Now, let's talk about the food. The restaurant's ambiance was absolutely marvelous, especially with the holiday decorations. I decided to go for the steak smothered with mushroom sauce, and let me tell you, it was absolutely mouthwatering. The kids, on the other hand, ordered chicken in every way possible, and of course, Daddy had to try them all! Needless to say, we were all in food heaven. But I must admit, after indulging in all that deliciousness, I feel like a giant Rolly Polly! Seriously, I can't even walk properly right now. But hey, it was totally worth it! So, if you happen to be around these parts, I highly recommend coming to eat at this place. And don't forget to ask for Ruthie! She'll make sure your dining experience is absolutely top-notch. See ya around!

Yelp
This restaurant is located on the highway between Pigeon Forge and Sevierville and appears to be popular with tourists and bus tours groups. I had lunch there last week. Since the first week of the year is a slow time for tourism in the area I was seated immediately in one of the dining rooms there. From the menu I chose the chicken and dumplings for $16. Applewood Farmhouse serve some complimentary items with their entrees. First to arrive was a small glass of Applewood Julep. It is a drink of orange, lemon, pineapple, etc juices and was very good. Also a basket of their fritters with their butter showed up in a basket. They are like cornmeal hush puppies with some powdered sugar on top. The butter is dark in color and while it doesn't look or taste like regular butter it was good too. A complimentary cup of vegetable soup then arrived and it again was very good taste wise with plenty of veggies in the cup in a savory broth. The entree was delivered less than 10 minutes later with mashed potatoes and brown gravy and my chosen side of green beans. This meal was delicious, filling and satisfying. The brown gravy was obviously homemade like everything else and that's why it all tasted so good. Ditto on the green beans. The chicken and dumplings were just what I wanted, This was a meal I would have been happy to repeat. Table service was warm and friendly. Applewood Farms is a very good choice to stop in and have a meal in a home style setting.

Yelp
Apple fritters are a must , they come free to the table too! Yummmmm I think everything was good. Service was excellent too. Country cooking

Yelp
My husband and I ate here on our first evening in pigeon Forge. We got there about 45 minutes before they closed so there weren't many people in the restaurant and the service was excellent. I think we got lucky and missed all the crowds. We started out with the apple fritters and apple julep and were in country heaven I ordered the chicken and dumplings and my husband ordered the country fried steak. We also got the vegetable soup. Everything was super delicious as a matter of fact, the chicken and dumplings were my favorite meal I had on my entire trip to the pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area. I get happy every time I think about them and wish we had a restaurant like the Apple barn in Orlando.

Yelp
Very overrated. We're local to Knoxville but hadn't been here before. We heard so many good things about this place and visited for lunch on my birthday. Food was a little over priced for lunch if you ask me. It did come with a lot of food but it wasn't good food. Unfortunately the chicken had less flavor than that at the grocery store or any fast food restaurants around here. It needed major seasoning and even the soup needed significant hot sauce, salt and pepper. Our sides were average at best. Our server was nowhere to be found after our food was served. We couldn't get our beverages refilled or get extra napkins. We were pretty disappointed, special since it was 1pm on a weekday.

Briana S.

Yelp
It's a cute country restaurant. The Apple Fritters were delicious along with the Apple Butter. My husband and I went during lunch and it was alright. Nothing too special. The broccoli cheddar soup was delicious. The Mac n cheese is super cheesy but you can tell it's like the fake, velveeta cheese, so that was ok. I ordered the country fried steak and it was pretty bland and dry. My husband got the fried chicken and I took a bite and we both agreed the chicken tasted and felt like it was a bit old. Staff was sweet. The waitress we had was older and she was distracted by the police coming because someone left their dog in the car and we were by a window to all the commotion so she kept coming with refills when we didn't need them. We had five full cups of Pepsi on the table because she was more concerned about the stuff outside than what was going on inside.

Yelp
We always stopped in when in Pigeon Forge area on RV trips. (3 times). We both love the restaurant and grill. Love the complimentary apple julep's and apple fritters when you're first seated. Food is prepared well and tasty. Probably won't be in the area again but if we do, guess where we'll be headed?

Yelp
Had a very pleasant dining experience here with my family. We loved the juice (I am forgetting the name) and apple fritters they give to start the meal. The food is pretty good and the service was great when we came. Would recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
After spending the day at Wonderworks, we walked to Applewood Farmhouse for dinner. My friend and I ordered the Applewood Chicken Pot Pie ($19.99) and the Country Fried Steak ($20.99). Every special dinner entrée comes with a choice of Grandma's vegetable soup, broccoli cheddar soup, or salad, along with mashed potatoes, one additional side, and a choice of dessert (apple cobbler or apple spice cake). In addition to this, every meal comes with complimentary apple fritters, homemade apple butter, and apple julep! Very generous. Out of all the places we received fritters on this trip, I enjoyed the ones from here the most. The apple butter and powdered sugar paired nicely with it. The Grandma's vegetable soup was delicious, and the apple julep was refreshing. The chicken pot pie was very good, made with chunks of chicken, potatoes, peas, carrots, in a creamy gravy, topped with a flaky homemade crust. Unfortunately, the country fried steak was a mistake... It felt like the steak was ruined by frying it because it just tasted like oily slightly crisped ground meat. I'm not sure if it is just a one-time mess up because it is a popular item, or if it is made the same elsewhere, but it tasted bad. We ordered one of each dessert. Both were good, but a little too sweet for us. Our server was in training, so despite him being a very nice gentleman, the service was quite slow, and it was hard to flag him down.

Yelp
Our group had breakfast here. It has great farmhouse vibe and the seating is fairly comfortable and the place is really clean (especially since it uses so much 'white' in its decor). What a great start with the complimentary serving of apple cinnamon muffins, apple fritters, apple butter and Applewood Julep - the Julep is like an apple juice and pineapple juice(?) cocktail. Of course we wanted the breakfast and it came out quick and hot. Our server, Mikey V, brought a lot of energy to the table. I wish we could have stopped by again in order to try the other items on the menu. Additionally, the restaurant is a part of a larger area with bakery, gift shop, cidery, winery, etc. It's certainly an opportunity to take a longer walk around the area. Also, my pictures were not so great. I don't know what happened. It's not exactly doing the food justice.

Yelp
Amazingly good food, friendly staff, and cute surroundings. Especially loved the live birds!

Yelp
First time goer and wasn't disappointed. The complimentary fritters, apple butter and julep were top notch, absolutely delicious. The trio sampler was good overall, minus the dumplings that were a little too thick and bland. The fried chicken, chicken pot pie mashed potatoes & cole slaw were all great. A little over the salt counter for me but still delicious. You get a very traditional and southern feel when you walk in, the seating gives the same emotion. Southern comfort at its finest. The service is what kept this from 5 stars, had to repeatedly ask for the same thing as simple as a straw or refill. Definitely worth coming back and giving it another try!
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute place and really has that cute country vibe going on. This place was organized fir how busy they were, tons of people were waiting and they quickly got people seated as efficiently as they could. Apple fritters are complimentary with a cinnamon apple butter dip, and yum!!!! I only ate one, but they were a delicious little treat! Hubby ordered a fried chicken plate with cole slaw and vegetable soup. I had a salad with grilled chicken. It was good, but I felt a little bland or basic.... It was a salad though, nothing too much could be reinvented there.

Yelp
Let's start with our waiter Jeremy. What a great guy & helped us make our decisions on entree. Very pleasant man. We loved our meals & had some left to take home. We were stuffed. Meal came out quick & was piping hot. Plan on coming back when we're here on next visit. Loved watching the finches

Yelp
We came here for breakfast as the other place had an hour wait. We walked into a back in time restaurant which had the feel of a early 1900s barn lol. Anyway we sat down and met our waiter Robert. Robert was nice. That poor guy got flat sat with like 3 tables all at once including us. Anyway, we got free fritters and tiny muffins which were delicious with their homemade apple butter. We then ordered our meal. I ordered a banana foster waffle and the wife got an omelet. I was told they're getting rid of the banana foster waffle. I can assure you that would be a mistake. It was delicious. It was sweet and creamy. It didn't need the hot syrup they brought to the table. I was also told the syrup was real and not the other garbage. It tasted real at least. It came with eggs and biscuit and potatoes which I only ate the biscuit as I was already full. My wife said her food was good as she had also a loaded potato thing. I would come back.

Yelp
Applewood Farmhouse is an American southern style food establishment located most off the popular tourist strip or Sevierville Tennessee. This eatery, farmhouse and apple cider has some a relaxing and great hometown feel. The exterior surroundings, the building itself and the inside are all lovely and gives you that hometown feel. Almost like you had family dinner vibes at a relatives. We had a party of 11 on our trip and was expecting a huge wait. We were quoted 15-20 minutes and was called back in less than five. Which the kids wouldn't have mind the wait as they were enjoying the birds they have up front and checking out the decor inside. We weee sat in the very back at a large combined table. The tables next to us had porch swings for seats which we all thought was cool and unique. Before we even sat down at our table our table was laid out with several baskets of complimentary fritters with apple butter and complimentary glasses of fruit juices. So they were very prepared! The fritters and apple butter were delicious. For those unfamiliar with a fritter I'll explain it to you like I did my kids. If you ever had a elephant ear or funnel cake then it is like that without the powdered sugar on top. Either way it was delicious as was the juice. Being such a large party we did sample the menu really well. Our waitress was very patient, kind, quick and attentive. Very good service all around. It was lunch time so we missed out on the full breakfast menu which was fine because they had a nice lunch menu. All meals came with complimentary soups as well. Between our group the broccoli cheddar and vegetable soup was ordered with the broccoli cheddar being raved about. For my entree I personally went with a sugar cured ham with a side of applesauce and a unique stuffing which the name of escapes me right now. My ham was delicious and very flavorful. Very good meal. Between the rest of us we ordered the following: Pecan chicken salad sandwich, fried chicken, chicken tenders, Quiche, chicken dumplings, a kids corn dog and a kids grilled cheese. Everyone loved there choices and there truly wasn't a bad meal. I sampled the tenders and the chicken and both very juicy and flavorful. Overall this place was an easy 5 star rating. 5 star on food, service, environment and uniqueness. I have visited the Sevierville/pigeon forge/Gatlinburg area a whole lot and they do have many great dining options. But this place may be my favorite now. Heck, I could go for some more of the complimentary fritters and juice alone.

Yelp
Come in hungry for sure. They brought to the table a small glass of juice with the Apple fritters. So good The Chicken Dumplings were so tasty and just the right amount of both. Hard to stop eating. The Collared Greens has such a great flavor with every bite. I would highly recommend eating here then walking around to all the shops.

Yelp
This was a cultural experience for me... I've never eaten apple fritters or chicken and dumplings before. Even the outstanding service added to the positive southern style experience. I think I've only been to a handful of southern restaurants in my life, and I'm happy to say this one was enjoyable. I like the three course selection idea that I guess is kinda common in these types of places. Well, actually, it's kinda like 4 courses because they start you off with some complimentary apple fritters with apple butter. The apple fritters were good, especially when they first came because they were hot. They are dusted with powdered sugar and served with what I can only describe as sausier, more flavorful apple sauce that is dark brown/red. It was a weird combination, but I enjoyed it. We were also given a little glass of apple julep. I thought a julep was something completely different. So I wasn't expecting to like it, but it just tasted like a homemade fruit punch... like a mix of different juices. I started off with the broccoli soup. The options were vegetable soup, broccoli and cheddar soup or wedge salad. I had a bite of my mom's salad and I liked the homemade ranch! I ordered the sampler trio and shared with my mom. To share, it costs an extra $7, but you get your own starter, 2 sides and a dessert, so it's sooo worth it. I definitely could not have finished all this food by myself. The sampler came with 2 pieces of fried chicken, a cup of chicken and dumplings and a little ramekin of chicken pot pie. I chose collard greens and broccoli casserole as my two sides. Everything I ate was delicious. I don't think the fried chicken was the best I've ever had, but it was pretty good. I think my favorite may have been the chicken pot pie. I don't really understand what chicken and dumplings is. It was good, but I don't think I'd order it again. The collard greens were delicious and I had a bite of my mom's okra and sweet potato pie. Both were delicious. We finished off with dessert. The apple cobbler and apple spice cake are the included options, or you can upgrade for $2 extra. I upgraded to a blackberry cobbler Ala mode. It was good, but not the best I've ever had. I think if I come back, I'd be ok with getting the apple cobbler. :) I enjoyed the decor and I thought the waitresses' outfits were cute. Our waitress, rose, was nice and the food came out quickly. I particularly liked the heater outside because it was 35 degrees outside. This is a very large establishment and it was fairly crowded (about half full maybe) on a Monday night. We didn't make reservations and didn't have to wait. Thanks for the experience!

Yelp
I have eaten here a couple of times, once for dinner and once for breakfast. Both mealtimes offer standard southern fare, on par with Cracker Barrel. While both times the staff was great, the food itself isn't worth the wait. The apple fritters provided before the meal are delicious, but so far, I haven't been impressed by any mains and probably wouldn't come back.

Yelp
This is one of our favorites and has been for years. The food and service are great. We usually go for lunch or an early supper, and we have a large group (10+) that they easily accommodate. The meal starts with Applewood juleps, and apple fritters, dusted with powdered sugar and served with apple butter. They are delicious! The food is southern/home-cooking fare, but they have a nice variety. Some of the many dishes we've tried: fried chicken salad, bowl of loaded potato or vegetable soup and grilled cheese, country fried steak, chicken cordon-bleu, meatloaf...and more. It's all served hot and fresh, with generous portions. The staff are friendly, I don't think we've ever had bad service. They keep updating areas of the restaurant and exterior, and keep it very clean and neat. It's decorated in a farmhouse style. Note: you will want to check the schedule. They're closed certain days and the grill is open other days. The menu is a bit different at both places.

Yelp
I heard about this restaurant several years ago and was told how incredible it was in quality of food. It's also the "oldest restaurant" in Pigeon Forge. So three years ago, we decided to go. But... we mistakenly went to the Applewood Farmhouse Grill. We were less than impressed with the food, save for the apple julep and the Apple fritters with apple butter. We discovered later that we had chosen the wrong restaurant. So... we decided to give the Farmhouse Restaurant a chance this past week. We arrived Thursday morning shortly after lunch hours began. The restaurant is what you might imagine a farmhouse would look like in some rooms and for the most part, all you heard were quiet conversations and the clinking of plastic plates. Yes. Red, plastic plates. Reusable, of course. Spouse ordered the Farmhouse Sampler Trio: two pieces of chicken (no option given for white or dark meat... served dark), a chicken pot pie and chicken and dumplings with the vegetable soup and sausage stuffing as the sides. I ordered chicken tenders with sausage stuffing and mashed potatoes with broccoli cheese soup. Turns out, there's no difference in the quality of food between the grill and restaurant. The pot pie tasted like any other frozen pot pie, the dumplings almost non existent and lacking in flavor. The sausage stuffing was... something that reminded me of stove top dressing. Not my sort of thing. The chicken tenders... had obviously been cooked the day before and warmed up. Tender is not what I would use to describe them. They were dry, hard, impossible to cut and I had to use water as a chaser to swallow each bite. If I had it to do over again, I would have asked to see the manager. Not at all acceptable for ANY restaurant, let alone one that is the oldest restaurant in the location and should know better. What a huge disappointment. I don't get what all the fuss is about. I wouldn't recommend nor will we be returning. Update: Had follow up emails (I sent one as requested going further into detail.. much further), I then received an apology (should have happened here, not via email) and a heads up I'd be hearing from the general manager of the restaurant for further info. Two days. Hasn't happened. I emailed Scott asking when I might expect that and he has yet to reply. That's been a day now. At this point, I don't need to hear from him or anyone else. Poor customer service all around. It's crucial to our local economies that small businesses thrive. This isn't the way to do it. Hope it improves.

Yelp
First review - Dinner Positives: - we had a larger party (14) and they were able to seat us all in a timely fashion (January visit) - the service was quick, and they kept all of our beverages filled (Rose rocked) - the fritters and apple butter never fail - check splitting was not an issue - the Mac and Cheese was good (expert review from the kids) - chicken cordon bleu (sp) was good - the Julio was there when we were seated - broccoli cheddar soup was good, some of the brick was over cooked and mushy - ambiance music is a rotation of Oak Ridge Boys, Conway Twitty, and George Jones Negatives: - country fried steak was salty - pot roast was bland - vegetable soup was watery (Texas Pete helped) - mashed potatoes were dry. - ambiance music is a rotation of Oak Ridge Boys, Conway Twitty, and George Jones Second review - Breakfast Positives: - handled a large party with no issues - coffee was good - once again fritters were great - eggs were cooked as requested - bacon was cooked as requested Negatives: - service was much slower, to include food preparation - grits were bland and loose - pancakes were IHOP quality It has been an institution for decades. But it's a place that shouldn't be visited due to childhood nostalgia. You will likely be disappointed. Overall, for a large party. It's a good experience. But for a couple, there are better experiences -

Yelp
The apple fritters and apple juleps were definitely worth the trip! They were delicious and the perfect way to start the meal. I ordered the French toast, and others ordered pancakes and the egg platters. The French toast was delicious! However, our teenager was disappointed to be unable to get chocolate chip pancakes even though clearly displayed at the entrance and on the menus. He settled for plain pancakes instead of the new chocolate syrup/jam ones they currently have as a new item. Coffees were refilled quickly and breakfast was good. The center bird cages were a treat to watch, making the time pass quickly and a charming item for all to enjoy. Would love to revisit this location and not rush out for the day.

Yelp
The apple cider donuts put this stop on the list but they were not a hit, just average. The staff was nice and the quaintness of the multiple buildings is where they get my 3 stars. It is a beautiful stop for a walk and shopping, time seems to slow for the experience.

Yelp
Country cooking at it's finest-Southern fried chicken, mashed potatoes and collard greens! Apple fritters on the side with a cup of vegetable soup! You won't leave hungry and the flavors are perfect!

Yelp
We stopped here on our road trip back to Nashville from Asheville. It was a fun little stop! Sooo much food with every entree! We were seated right away, and every meal comes with fritters and choice of soup. The loaded potato soup was creamy and delicious. I would come back for a bowl of it and some bread. The fritters were also a nice touch and had the perfect crust and soft inside. Each entree also comes with a side and mashed potatoes. All of it was pretty good, and came out very quickly. It was a decent stop. There is also a bakery and an ice cream shop on site. The ice cream was sweet and serve decent sized scoops. There are a few shops in the complex to look around in and you could spend about an hour here.

Yelp
Breakfast at Applebarn was a great end to our vacation! On a Sunday morning, we waited 30 minutes to be seated and enjoyed the rocking chairs and shade on the patio. Mikey V. was an awesome waiter and provided friendly/fast service. The meal started with a complementary taste of orange/pineapple juice and apple fritters with THE BEST apple butter I've ever had! The bacon/potatoes/eggs were also good. I was surprised that the coffee was almost $4, in my opinion that seems overpriced. Overall, awesome experience!! Definitely stop by for breakfast and walk around the shops too!

Yelp
You will definitely get your moneys worth here lol huge portions of food and the service is very good. They started breakfast with a basket of apple fritters, apple butter, and apple julep drinks. Our food was brought out quickly and it was delicious. I had the quiche and my husband had blackberry pancakes with eggs and bacon. Our server Cheyenne was so nice and checked on us frequently. Would definitely return!

Yelp
This place has GOT to be the best place for breakfast in pigeon Forge! There is a river right across the street, which makes the view really nice, the atmosphere inside is very sweet, all the servers are very kind, and the food is amazing. The amount of food that you get for the price is really, really, really good and everything is delicious. They start off with a basket of apple fritters with apple butter and free little julep drinks. It's an awesome experience. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Fried chicken was really good but the steak was super salty. I may give this place a try next time I'm back in town.

Yelp
Nice country feel to the restaurant. We were there on Sunday for breakfast. Starting off the juice cocktail they bring you and the apple fritters were amazing. My wife got the country fried steak and liked it a lot. You could tell it was not just a frozen steak that was thawed and cooked. It was seemed handmade. I got the eggs and potatoes and the biscuits and gravy, I am very picky about gravy and this is the best I've had and a restaurant in a long time. After eating, we went and checked out the store and another a few little shops. It is a great time for a nice relaxing time.

Yelp
Love the complimentary apple fritters with apple butter. Service is fast and attentive. Usual dilemma of brown vs white gravy: brown is more flavorful with strong hint of onion, white needed just a little more salt and flavor. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good restaurant in the Sevierville area.

Yelp
Wow! Amazing food and service. They start you off with complimentary Fritters and Apple Butter with a small glass of citrus (orange, pineapple, apple, lemon) juice. I have to say WOW again, it was so good. I had pappys omelette and loaded breakfast potatoes .. it's huge and so good .. perfect omelette done right! I'm coming back for sure!

Yelp
Food used to be good but the last time we went it was subpar. Plus there were ants crawling all up the wall and a group had to be moved

Yelp
You go here to eat and check out all the little shops in the area. Starts off great. Fritters and apple butter , so gooodddd. You get a complimentary cup of juice. Waitress was amazing and very efficient with a strong dose of southern hospitality. My husband got the 3 meat breakfast. Dry thin bacon. Dry ham , no seasoning on anything. Potatoes are dry also. My pancakes and warm syrup was great. My eggs over easy got pulled a little late so over hard it is. Price is average. This place caters to an older and family crowd. It was a enjoyable experience and the fritters were the star and a good pancake. I would stop in when in the area. This is not a 5 star spot but a good ole fashioned breakfast. Christmas shop next door is nice too.

Yelp
Huge fan of the apple fritters and apple butter! I love that you will not leave hungry from this restaurant. Dessert, fritters, main entree and a side comes with your meal at a very fair price. Our waitress was only a few weeks into the job and she worked really hard to stay on top of our table and other customers. I believe they are known for their fried chicken however it didn't wow us. We will come back, maybe just not order the fried chicken or the kids Mac and cheese. My daughter wasn't a fan of it.

Yelp
Service was excellent. Fast and polite. Each person at your table get a complimentary julep and apple fritters with apple butter. This was the best part of the meal. The rest of the food was so so. Got the fried okra and it was pretty bland. Had the sweet potatoes casserole and it was ok. Also had the Cajun catfish and it was just smothered in seasoning. Very salty. The place reminds me of Cracker Barrel, but not the homemade feel to it. Every side seemed scooped from a large vat and plopped in a dish. Prices were reasonable and they do not serve alcohol.
