On the Grid : Aquarium of the Pacific

"One of this city's most famous venues is the Aquarium of the Pacific or "Long Beach Aquarium." Settled along the southern sea-front, the aquarium offers fascinating tours, scuba-diving, live shows, and events for kids and adults. And yes, drinks are involved when the aquarium hosts the well known "Night Dive". The sea and the life that exists there is absolutely beautiful - so if you're in town you should come pay them a visit." - Down the Street Designs

"The aquarium doesn't just stop at fish: There's also a very friendly flock of lorikeets, along with sea birds, seals, and sea otters. There are several permanent 'Galleries' alongside the temporary exhibitions that show what life is like under the Californian waves. Kids will enjoy the chance to pet the rays and sharks, and budding veterinarians will be fascinated by the chance to watch real-life procedures on the resident animals in the new Molina Animal Care Center."

10 Fun, Easy Things to Do in Los Angeles With Kids | Condé Nast Traveler

"A modern, hands-on aquarium, the fourth most-visited in the United States, the Aquarium of the Pacific is home to more than 11,000 sea creatures, all presented in a surprisingly intimate way. The aquarium has everything from sea otters to sharks to stingrays, and the close-up encounters are seriously mind-blowing. There's even a shark and stingray touch pool; after feeding time, guests can “pet” a group of gentle sharks and small rays. Don't worry—this is only allowed after feeding time, so none of the creatures mistake a hand for a midday snack." - Mel Kaspin Blume

I had a really fun time at the Aquarium of the Pacific! It was the perfect little outing for a two hour trip. The place is super clean, and the fish tanks are crystal clear, you can tell they take care of everything. The jellyfish and seahorses were my favorites, hands down. I also got to feed the birds nectar for $5, which was such a cool experience. One of the most unique parts was getting to touch a jellyfish outside. Parking was super easy and just $8, which was nice. Overall, it was a great experience and I’d definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in the area or just looking for something fun.

The Aquarium of the Pacific was such a fun experience!!! I took my kids there for my older daughter’s 15th birthday and she had a blast! There are penguins, puffins, sea lions, sharks, frogs and all the sea life you can imagine! You can touch sharks and sea anemones as well as starfish! The map is very helpful to direct you to the different exhibits. There is also an enclosed area with birds that you can feed! I bought the tickets through AAA to save a few dollars and it was easy parking.

I took my 2 kids here for a day in between Disney parks. This place is AWESOME! The exhibits are stunning, especially some of the large tanks with large fish, sea lions, rays, and sharks. My 3 year old daughter’s favorite part was touching a shark outside in the interactive ponds. My 6 year old son’s favorite part was the interactive amphibian digital painting area. There are a ton of hands on places and things to do here, along with lots of live talks and shows. The food is expensive, so bring your own snacks to save $.

Google
Beautiful aquarium. Brenda was a wonderful staff member who explained some stuff that was very helpful. Again, it would be nice if the aquarium would post when school groups are scheduled to come because it made it less enjoyable with kids running around everywhere and screaming knocking on the glass tanks. Just ridiculous that their caretakers aren’t more responsible in keeping these kids under control and respectful of not only the other ticket holders but all the animals as well.

It was great! We, including ouf 2 adult children and our 5 kids ages 3 to 16, went for my son's birthday and had a wonderful time. We were able to do all the attractions/shows the favorite of them were the big dive tank. They, even my older children, really enjoy the shark and stingray touch ponds. The birds were my favorite. I highly recommend the bird feeding! Seriously, we thought we would spend only a few hours, and we were there until it closed. So relaxing and fun. Oh and don't forget to do the book stamp thingy. The older kids and I had so much fun hunting for those. Enjoy fun, and God bless you guys!

Google
Had an entry time at 3:30 arrived at 4:05 no big deal was made was still able to enjoy a day here. It’s a great place for a little trip and it’s an inside view of beautiful fish, frogs and jelly fish. Outside they have the seal lions, penguins and starfish area. Also a very kid friendly place they have a whole section they can draw and create their very own digital fish.

We went on a Thursday and enjoyed our day. The aquarium wasn't too busy and the weather was nice. We took our own lunch and had a picnic near the light house overlooking the water.

We visited the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach to celebrate Mother's Day with my mom, wife, daughter, and granddaughter, and it was a wonderful experience! Despite the scorching 105°F heat, we had an incredibly fun day. The aquarium is packed with diverse exhibits--sharks, manta rays, penguins, tropical fish, rainforest animals, and vibrant corals. Each section is engaging, well-designed, and filled with fascinating things to learn about. It took us about 45 minutes to explore everything, and the experience was perfect for all ages. Our granddaughter was thrilled, especially since it was her first time seeing fish up close. The staff were friendly and helpful, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. The admission price is not too expensive. Highly recommend this place for a memorable family outing!

Yelp
Who makes their jelly tanks bigger than their octopus tanks? Get real? The aquarium is a lot of fun until you see their prized giant pacific octopus and it's in a tank smaller than a mini cooper. It has no hides, no plants, no corals, no other living things and the poor fella just sits in a corner more still than a puppet. These things are more intelligent than a 3 year old human but its kept in a tank not even fit for a sea cucumber. The other enclosures were enormous but they had blatantly fake coral, obviously it would be impractical to grow real coral but they could have taken some extra steps to make it look somewhat better, I've seen more convincing fake tree cell towers. But putting all that aside the aquarium does have a lot of cool things to do and see.

Yelp
Ended up here as a plan B for my sons bday but so glad we did. Beautiful, educational, interactive. Cost is about $45 per adult (12+), $35 per child (3-11) and $42 seniors (62+) You also pay for parking at the garage across the street, but its only $8 with aquarium validation all day There is a shopping mall also across the street filled with great restaurants as well...might as well visit there since you are already parked right? Staff was SO friendly, helpful and knowledgable . Oh! The touch pools! Do them! Sea stars, sea urchins, rays, sharks AND Jelly!! So cool

Yelp
Came here with my little girl, we loved it. I had one issue here, but that got resolved. We had to park across the street from the place. The pricing was reasonable. The lines were quite long to get in. I liked the fact you could touch the rays. We all loved the jelly fish and all that. The customer service was ok. They answered all my questions when I had some. They were on top of things, and we loved the tours.

Yelp
We gave up our Magic key passes this year to be aquarium members and we've loved it! The parking structure is right across the street and so convenient. As members you can buy discounted tickets. We usually go early in the morning and spend about 2.5 hours here and head out. My LO loves the jelly tank and playing in the outdoors area. There are also computer screens where kids can color different fish and watch their designs swim across the screen. The aquarium is definitely a fun and educational place and we also love all the different festivals they have during the year

Yelp
Quite pricey & underwhelming... I guess it's worth it for the experience while you're visiting LA. I think it's good for younger kids but if you have teenagers like myself, they'll most likely be bored. There's really not much to see here, the place is pretty outdated and a lot of the water tanks were murky. Our favorite part was probably feeding the lorikeets & that's about it. We were done with all the habitats and exhibits in under 90 minutes, truly disappointed :(

Yelp
This aquarium has the usual marine life but what makes it special to me is that it has a penguin exhibit and also multiple jellyfish exhibits including a touch tank! I learned so much about jelly fish during my visit! So neat!! You can also touch stung rays and sharks. There is a lorikeet area where you can give the birds nectar too. They have a pretty amazing gift shop but be warned that while the cafe and gift shops take American Express, the parking structure does NOT! Parking is $8 with aquarium validation and you need to pay that $8 with either a visa or Mastercard (no Amex, no cash and no Apple Pay)

Yelp
I've been here many times in the past, but my most recent visit was with my baby so my review is based on that! We visited on a Sunday in December with special closing hours at 8pm. We arrived at 5:15pm and it was not crowded! Parking is easy in a structure. Validate your ticket inside the aquarium for $8 parking. Pay at the machines inside the structures before leaving. The aquarium is stroller friendly with ramps, elevators and spacious walkways. The women's restroom on the first floor by the elevators has a small child care area with a diaper changing station, seats, outlets, and a small curtained area. There is another diaper changing station inside that restroom. We did not try any food, but we ordered iced coffee drinks at the cafe on the first floor by the elevators. They were $6.99, tasted fine, and served in Starbucks cups. We placed our baby in front of all the different tanks as she watched all the sea life swimming by. We took our time and spent 2 hours here, so your experience is what you make of it! I personally enjoy this aquarium so much! I feel like there's so much to see and so much information to learn.

Yelp
Worth the drive down to Long Beach! This aquarium is one of my favorite spots! Lots of fish and ocean life to see, indoors and outside. My personal favorites are the jellyfish and the stingray, but there's lots to see here. As for food, I got a really good deal on hot dogs + a drink on the patio. Parking is in a structure and there's validation as well. Protip: Lookout for teacher's discounts on admission and tickets!
google avatar

Macy M.

Yelp
A great aquarium in the LA area! It's a great place to learn about ocean life, pet some creatures in the touch pools, and feed some birds! They have parking validation as well!

Yelp
Located on Aquarium Way, is my daughter's favorite aquarium, Aquarium of The Pacific. With a parking structure across the street, this Aquarium has great access. This aquarium does a great job making sure the kids are interacting, whether it's the info booklet, with places for stamps from each section, creating their own sea animals, frogs, etc, petting sharks and rays sections, or the workers that are always helpful and go out of their way to see how you are doing and interact with you. The animals are very healthy and seem to be thriving. Love how they have wash stations everywhere. They also, have many food areas, in case you're hungry. The gift shop is huge, avoid or get ready to spend! Haha *My daughter has been talking about this aquarium since we were last here, a yr ago!*

Yelp
Had another wonderful experience at the aquarium with our group of 12. Be sure to make reservations in advance, as it's now required--very easy to do online. The staff we encountered were extremely helpful. We have a family membership, which gives 20% off tickets for anyone you bring, plus discounts on food and in the gift shop. It's a great deal! Looking forward to our next visit. 10/7/24

Yelp
First things first. Buy tickets online for easiest entry as there was a line at the ticket counter but we were able to go in immediately. Also, remember that the tickets are timed entry and from their sign that was posted it sounds like they are enforcing it. Now onto my favorite thing to do here is the lorikeet feeding area. Lol I know my favorite part of an aquarium is not water related. Lol First come first serve in the lorikeet... And be warned once they run out of the food for them, they will shut the stand down even though the lorikeet are is still open. At the time of this review, the lorikeet food was $4 per cup. Also, at the time of this review, the tickets were $44/person which I thought was a decent price BUT don't think that the stuff for sale inside are cheap. Lol They are not cheap BUT it's all for a good cause, so I don't mind at all. So be sure to bring money if you want to buy anything in there. Make sure to look at the sea otters as that is another one of my favorite animals. The aquarium was fun and all the exhibits were well kept. Overall, I would definitely come again.

Yelp
The aquarium is one of my family's favorite hang outs! The yearly membership is a good value as well as the discounted parking. We love the new exhibits like the frogs and the coloring area. My son could sit there for hours coloring sea creatures and sending them onto the big screen but it's limited to 2 turns per person! I always discover something new when I visit. Last time it was the porcupine fish that seemed particularly interested in us. Later I googled those lil guys and found out they have a playful personality, so maybe it was really curious about us humans! Cool! My only gripe is the food prices in the cafe. I get it, they have to do it, but jeeeeez a small bag of chips and a coffee shouldn't the same as Disneyland prices lol. Whenever I visit, the workers have been mostly kind and helpful which I appreciate. We'll continue coming back for sure!
google avatar

Grace S.

Yelp
Nice aquarium. I liked all the interactive exhibits. The food is mediocre though. I wish I saw the turtles the day I went but I could not find them. You can definitely walk through this place in 3 hours. The stamp booklet was really cool and a nice souvenir! Parking can be validated at the aquarium. It's 8 bucks I believe, for the day.

Yelp
Land of dads with carries and strolles gallore!! ... All joking aside... The aquarium of the pacific is very very very family friendly place.... Great from strollers... Ramps and elevators everywhere.... Our 1yr olds really enjoy the various aquariums.... Tons of all kinds of fishs... Small and large and in between.... parking was easy... Dotn forget to validate before leaving the aquarium.... Overall a great family activity!!

Yelp
Amazing experience with our almost 4 year old son. Super easy to get there. 710 fwy basically guides directly to parking lot of the aquarium via easy to read signs. Parking structure has plenty of parking. If becoming a member of aquarium, definitely recommend prepaying for packs of three to drastically reduce cost. Can do single day, but if you're local, definitely recommend becoming a member via a family membership. Fantastic exhibits separated by different areas of the ocean (north pacific, tropics, etc). Also a really cool tropical frog experience. Don't miss all the outdoor fun at touch pools to touch sting rays, sharks, etc. Try to catch a show (eg sea lion etc). Don't pass up the cool experience of the lorikeet forest. Purchase the small nectar pods and head inside where beautiful lorikeets land on you and feed on the nectar from your hands!! Our son (as well as us) loved it!!! Definitely recommend and will be back soon!!

Yelp
Parking is a hot mess. Driving in the area trying to get to the aquarium was ridiculous. The area is overly crowded and people drive like jerks, people on bikes and walking just do whatever the heck they want. Literally, we had a group of bikers cut us off and they were riding down the middle of the road. Excuse me get your bikes on the side walks! Jesus. People just trying to get hit so they can sue. Anywayyy, except a nightmare trying to get to this place. And the parking is no better than Disneyland. The aquarium is amazing. I love all of the animals. It's my favorite thing! I'm like a kid lol I just get amazed by anything with animals. My favorite was the sea otters, even though there were only 2. The octopus was pretty sweet! He was huge and the only octopus. The poisonous frogs were another highlight. But overall, I definitely prefer SeaWorld. They have more animals. And bigger ones. The aquarium did have some seals! And a big sea lion. That was fun to see. The little discovery area is more for kids, but still pretty cool. They have penguins!!! That's awesome. Lots of people here even in the afternoon. I'm not sure if it's better to get there early or later? It might be crowded either way.

Yelp
Came here as a date night to celebrate our anniversary! It was a wonderful experience, we were having a lot of fun and made beautiful memories here! We loved all the places where you can interact with the animals! There was a lady who worked here who actually lifted up a shark (the little ones) so I can reach in to touch, she could tell I was hesitant and I loved that she did that for us. The staff here are wonderful!

Yelp
I enjoy aquariums, so when I saw this one in the area I was working in, I added it on my "to go" list. We came later on a weekday after work, around 4ish and it wasn't too busy, but still gave us enough time to enjoy all of the attractions. I really liked how this aquarium is dedicated to CA and their native species. It has different rooms that each showcase a geographical area of the ocean. The setup is easy to navigate and be able to see all the areas efficiently. They have a theatre area (I didn't explore it much), a beautiful 2 level main attraction tank that goes floor to ceiling in the lobby and you can see that tank from the back sides as well. They have an outdoor area too which is cool. Outdoor you can see a bird attraction, sea lion show, etc. My favorite part is that you can touch a jellyfish!!! There is a showcase that gives education as well. The employees are so knowledgeable, I enjoyed learning about the jellyfish. We went through everything in about 2 hours and that was sufficient as the shows etc were all stopped for the day. If you were going to see the sea lion show or anything like that you may need more time. Pricing was in line with most other aquariums and I thought this was very much worth it. Know that there is a parking garage in the area as well and you will most likely have to pay for parking - mine was $8. Still worth it.

Yelp
A perfect place for the family. The staff is amazing and our favorite is petting the sting rays, baby sharks, and the moon jelly fish. If you haven't gone, it is a must with the family.

Yelp
Wonderful place to visit! Went here last Saturday with my family of 7. It was a super nice time! The exhibits are wonderful and exciting to see and interact with! It is a great place to take a family with people ranging in ages from wee babies to my 97 year old mom. There's a huge aviary to walk through. The touch tanks are numerous! The fish tanks are super numerous! The frog exhibit which is featured now is awesome! I think the price of admission is well worth the price! We will be back as soon as we can!

Yelp
I lived most of life in South Bay area, but this was my first time coming to Aquarium of the Pacific, and what more better company than my lovely boyfriend! He says that he grew up coming to this place frequently as a child and even as an adult. And he really wanted to take me here to share his good memories and create new ones with me hehe The exhibits were big and full of interactive stations. My favorites include feeding the parakeets with nectar (extra $4 per small cup), touching the soft bouncy tops of moon jellyfish, looking at the penguins super up close with overhead tank, and coloring/creating our very own small tadpole/axolotl to be displayed on big screen! The whole experience took about 2 hours, maybe a little more since we took little breaks here and there. The tickets on official website costs $45 per adult, but my boyfriend said that he got them a bit discounted online. And you can use those tickets anytime instead of timed entrance. Even so, I think it's pretty expensive, but I suppose it costs more to maintain an aquarium with all these cool animals. The place was crowded even on Monday afternoon time, with lots of families and children on their field trips. I suppose it will be even more crowded on weekends, so be aware. There's a giant parking structure right next to the aquarium, but it cost separate $9 per car by the time we headed out.

Yelp
Loved the huge blue whale display in the main lobby. There are plenty to do and lots to see both indoors and outdoors. Cafe and gift shop available. I especially liked that there were several bathrooms available instead of just one main one like a lot of other aquariums I've been to. Love all the technology and different interactive stations for kids as well as the theater room. There were areas where you can touch stingrays, starfish, and sharks as well. The lorikeet forest was also a top favorite here. Puffins were the main attraction for me since they are rarely seen elsewhere. Of course they have the usual: penguins, salt water and fresh water fish, sea otters, sea turtle, sea horses, loads of frogs, jellyfish, etc. This was our first time here and won't be our last. Pro Tip: If you're a Triple A member, get your discount. Educator discount is unfortunately only online and during specific times.

Yelp
The #Family headed south to Long Beach on this day to visit the #AquariumOfThePacific for Sojo's 4th BornDay! . The girls got to see sharks, Electric eels, massive sea turtles, puffer fish etc! The immersive theater portion contained a bevy of #information about said marine biology we would encounter, . The girls imaginations have been forever expanded! . The Staff was friendly, passionate & informative. Good Value for the money. A great place to visit! I recommended this to anyone with curious children, it won't disappoint. Till next time! #TeamSmith805 #Daughters #DaddyMan805

Yelp
Such a cute place! Loved the exhibits such as getting to pet the starfish, the sting rays, sea urchins, etc. whether inside or outside this was a fun little way to gain more knowledge about marine life. Loved the little gift shop inside and out. The price of entry is well worth the value with everything that's being offered. this aquarium offers many interactive activities and facts about all these animals had a wonderful time at the aquarium of the pacific.

Yelp
I recently visited The Aquarium of the Pacific and it was a ton of fun, even for an adult like myself without kids in tow. Although, my expectations were admittedly low because I'm from Hawaii, where our aquarium is small, with no activities. Given that, it wasn't hard for me to be impressed, but this aquarium truly exceeded my expectations. The exhibits are hands-on, interactive, and fun for all ages. The hands-on part is my favorite part! I loved petting the Jellyfish and rays! My friends have two under two and it was sure easy to keep the kids entertained and wearing them out. Although the aquarium is great for families, it's also perfect for solo visitors or adults looking for a unique outing. One BIG downside was the food prices--$8 for water felt like a crime! Since we were in the middle of traveling, we didn't have any water of our own to bring, so DON'T FORGET YOUR WATER! Despite this, the overall experience was fun and we just decided to eat across the street at Bubba Gump. Definitely a great visit, and one last tip: go on a weekday. It can get pretty packed here (I assume) on the weekends so if you want access and a spot on all the activities, definitely plan to come here when it's not busy.

Yelp
This review is going off of a Summer weekday visit with a 2.5 year old toddler. Kids under 3 free 10% discount for military with ID Free on Veterans Day with ID FYI Parking structure next to aquarium. Get your ticket validated at aquarium for a flat rate of $8 for the day. We were able to bring a little cooler with snacks in without trouble. You can bring a stroller which is great as some places don't allow it. Several stands with pastries, bagels, chips. In shark area outside- this stand has sodas, beers, "smoothies" ($10.49 for 20oz) really surgery icee type drink (disappointed it wasn't an actual fresh smoothie, but I should have guessed), and ice cream bars. Wish they had better food options, but there's a ton of restaurants just outside of the aquarium you can go for lunch or dinner. There are 3 levels to this aquarium. Pathways decent but when it's peak season like Summer it's crowded and difficult to navigate with small children which is everyone, including us. Penguins and puffins were our little ones favorites to see. Oh and the touch stations. Loved feeling what a starfish feels like. Nice that there's hand washing stations too for after you're done. Level 3 has an area with drawing pads and kids can color an animal and when they are done it eventually shows up on the projected wall. This is where we spent majority of our visit as the virtual puzzles and drawing is very appealing to small children. Scuba presentation was cool, presenter and scuba diver talking about different facts in main level 1 at the tail end of the whale hanging on ceiling. They have several "stalls" with employees ready to explain different facts about conservation or jelly fish. Employees were all nice and helpful. It's a good experience. Decent flow from one end to the other, but then have to turn around and go against traffic to get back to stairs or elevators. Small elevators and most people have strollers. This was difficult with a stroller and everyone else having a stroller. Looking forward to the day a stroller isn't key to our visits as it really is a hassle with navigating around others especially with tons of kids running around. There were several summer camps there (cool they do that). Another guest I spoke to said they are regulars and it's much better when it's not peak season and not as busy. She recommended still coming during the week and not weekends. We will return as it is a great educational experience and as our child gets older the more we will get out of it. She grew bored and we decided to leave sooner than we would have with an older child.

Yelp
Love this place. I haven't been back for more than a decade and I'm glad I did. Technology and additional features made it more engaging to children. The theatre was a must see for everyone. 3 hours will be enough to see the entire place. 6-5-2024

Yelp
Summer is here and you will find huge crowds at the aquarium. Best to go on a weekday. There is a parking structure directly adjacent to the aquarium and the parking is eight dollars with validation. This is an amazing place for adults and children. There is a diving show at the main entrance, there is a sea otter show, and one for the sea lions. Outside you can, pet, stingrays and sharks, and there is a play area for children. Be prepared to spend at least two or three hours here. They have wonderful exhibits of frogs, fish, jellyfish, Penguins. The price for two seniors and two children was $144. But they do use the funds to care for all the animals. They work in conjunction with a rehabilitation program in Monterey Bay. Please go and support this wonderful place.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
Such a great place to be for a day trip! I'd recommend a weekday when there's less people as there is a better chance it's quieter and more peaceful but nonetheless it's a cool place to see the sea life of our world! For the ticket price you get to see so much in the building, try to get there early so you can explore without too many people!

Yelp
This is a darling place, full of learning and wonderful exotic creatures including sharks, lorikeets, seals and sea lions! I feel like a kid in a candy store. I just wanna take it all in. Somewhere there are PENGUINS!!!

Yelp
We recently renewed our membership and we came and we couldn't get in because now you need a reservation. Member or not a reservation is required. Sounds like you'll be allowed to go in if they aren't that busy. Anywho, my daughter was bummed we couldn't stay that day, so I made a reservation for the Memorial Day weekend.

Yelp
We went with our son's family and it was a fun day. We split time walking through the exhibits, speaking with the people who were there to help and even watched a movie about the coral reefs. We bought the nectar to feed the lorikeets and it was worth the $10. The kids loved it. There is food available at the Scuba Cafe but it's really expensive. Think ballpark pr

Yelp
If you are into aquatic animals, then this is a place you need to come to. Don't expect to be here hours on end. My family and i were there for only 45 minutes and my older daughter loves aquatic animals. My suggestion is if you are driving far to come here, have a secondary location in the area to go to, to make a fun day of Long Beach.

Yelp
We enjoyed our time here. We had a group of 10 adults and 8 kids and were able to see and do a lot. From petting jellyfish to watching a sea lion show, we got to experience a lot of the aquarium despite some heavy rains during our visit. We had a group of 3 yr old toddlers and most of them listened to the directions well as far as how and when to pet the animals -- we got to check out some stingrays as well. This aquarium was pretty big, there were several exhibits and it was both indoor and outdoor which was nice when we needed shelter from the rain! We bought combo tickets so we got an LA Zoo day along with the Aquarium and that was great as you can use the ticket within a year of purchase. We bought the tickets in Sept, went to the zoo in November and the Aquarium in March. They did validate parking, but we went across the street afterwards to eat and must have gotten outside the time frame because we did have to pay $8 for parking. I felt like the price was a good value for what you get here and we'd definitely come back to see the animals again!

Yelp
Ive been to this aquarium before and am writing this on my 10th time for their 25th year anniversary. This time, I brought my gf with me since she's a fan of aquariums too. Reservations are mandatory during the weekend, and for a good reason. The aquarium was packed with people especially little kids. Still, it took us about 3 1/2 hours to completely finish walking around the place + take pictures. I uploaded some of the most interesting fish I took pictures of. With validation, parking is 8 dollars and you can walk along the pier area outside of the aquarium all the way to shoreline village for a nice date spot. Overall, both my gf and I had a great time looking at the marine life. It's still the best aquarium in socal.

Yelp
I can't say much for the service, it's hit or miss depending on who you talk to. It's costly to go into the aquarium so plan to take your time! Parking is across the street in the structure. There are places to get food, snacks and drinks inside, even a place to get adult beverages. They have some cool stuff.

Yelp
The Aquarium is a lot different from what I remembered. We were able to see everything in about 2 hours. We still had a great time, and saw a lot of amazing sea creatures. My favorites has to be the turtle, shark, penguins, (outside), sea lion, and just the fish in general. Many of them get super close to the glass when people are sitting or standing by it. They have affordable souvenirs and they take great photos and have great deals to purchase the photos. Even though it's different from what I remember it's still just as amazing.

Yelp
Tickets: best to buy tickets in advance! Be sure to look online of what's not permitted in the aquarium. Parking: You can park at the parking structure right across from the aquarium. I paid $8 for a weekend. Atmosphere: Family friendly! It tends to be packed during summer. I personally prefer to go in autumn or winter to avoid bigger crowds. Also prefer to visit on a weekday in the early AM, to get the best experience.

Yelp
They had a lot of very nice exhibits and habitats. However, some of them were really lacking in size and enrichment for some of the animals. While there were some really beautiful and well done habitats (like the shorebirds and lorikeets) there were several tanks with absolutely nothing in them, other than the animals and water, really disappointing to see that.

Yelp
Our first time visiting the Aquarium after nearly 3 years of living in Long Beach and also hearing about the aquarium, we decided to go as part of the celebration of my daughter's 1st birthday. We drove up having done no prior research to discover the parking garage across from the entrance is validated for $8 and that looks to be the closest parking option. On a busy Friday late afternoon I was able to walk up and get tickets for 4 adults and a birthday pin. It looked like an annual pass was still a bit more than the tickets for 4, so decided on skipping that for now. Walking in past security into a large hall with a store and small cafe we began to just walk around with no plan. The Aquarium has half indoor and outdoor exhibits which I don't know why I was not totally prepared for. It was busy enough that we walked passed some things we would've liked to see for folks who weren't interested in moving along. Things I loved were the lorikeet cage (you can get food to feed them), the touch tank for starfish and sea creatures and the staff seemed to be around everywhere and pretty knowledgable and overseeing the crowds. I would come back again!

Yelp
Good visit to the aquarium to see tons of fish, sharks, jellyfish and sea lions! The touch areas with the jellyfish and sting rays were a hit with kids and the outdoor patio area upstairs was great for snacks and lunch - added bonus was the beautiful view. Food and drink prices were high which was to be expected-a pretzel, bag of popcorn and one sparkling water from the snack bar was almost $20. They did allow outside food and drink though so if you're bringing your littles don't hesitate to pack ahead! We foolishly forgot our stroller and unlike Disneyland they only rent wheelchairs. Do better than us through the morning rush out the door unless you're a fan of carrying your toddler up and down stairs and through indoor and outdoor exhibits. Parking is a maximum of $16 a day in the garage right next to the aquarium but with validation you only have to pay $8. Parking was a breeze around 10am but was a bit of a mess as we were leaving in the early afternoon. Overall fun trip!

Yelp
What a fun learning environment! Multiple exhibits with plenty to see. Clean and air conditioned environment inside, touch pool located outside with lots to see. You can easily spend several hours here. Reservations are required and this place gets BUSY. The reason I give it a 4 was because you are scheduled at a certain time to arrive, but managing the massive flow of people was difficult and we had to wait in some lines to see the exhibits.

Yelp
Kids will love this place. You can feed lorikeets and touch fish. There are also presentations at various times. Overall. It is a good aquarium It is pretty expensive though, especially for a family with older kids. It also gets very crowded on weekends, especially in the afternoon. It can be hard to view exhibits if it is too crowded. The shark exhibit is touted but it is really just one window so not much.

Yelp
For weekends/holiday visits buy tickets in advance. Check for coupons- I paid full price but my friend who I went with was able to get tickets for like $5 each. I haven't been here in like 15-20 years? And not much has changed! Facility is still in good condition though. Lots of beautiful exhibits as well as several touch tanks for kids (and adults who like fish) to enjoy. Parking is very easy in nearby structure.

Yelp
Beautiful aquarium with lots to see! Very kid friendly with interactive activities. The jellyfish were my favorite part. The only downside is parking. We didn't have to walk too far but we were two parking garages away because the first two had lines to get in.

Yelp
Took my family here for our first time before school starts and they absolutely loved it! There's so much to do/explore. I have so many more videos and pictures. So glad we came here to create memories. Once we viewed everything in the aquarium we adventured off around the building and enjoyed the vendors and scenery. Definitely worth the experience!

Yelp
We have been to this aquarium many times over the last decade. There is a unique setup which we like and continues to keep us coming back. However, it seems to me it is quite expensive for what you receive (much less than a place like Monterey Bay Aquarium or Sea World). Also, since Covid-19, one needs reservations to enter (weekends/holidays). I am annoyed at this because we got there at 2pm & had a 2 hour wait for the return time we were given (4pm). This resulted in much of the outdoor area and attractions already being closed by the time we got to that portion of the aquarium. :-( Their shark exhibit area left much to be desired when compared to pretty much anywhere else we have been (Shark Reef in Vegas, OdySea in Scottsdale, Sea World). There is really only one big viewing window that is so crowded you have to really work at advancing to the front gradually if you ever want to see anything. Also, they did away with any kind of Gatorade or Powerade which they used to sell (and is pretty much all my kids will drink). Bummer. They say it is because they didn't want the plastic bottles ... Yet they still handed us plastic straws. **shrug** Kids always have fun in the touch pools. Wish we could have fed the lorikeets. I do not know why the majority of the employees act miserable and seem to enjoy directing in a blunt/nearly rude manner. It kind of puts a damper one what could have been a much more positive experience. The gift shop employees were the exception. They were kind and helpful.

Yelp
We came on a Saturday so we were prepared for a busy day! So much to do and see fun filled educational day dress accordingly summertime its nice and warm the A/C inside is great for a break from the outside exhibits! When u buy tickets you have to reserve a time to enter when we got there they had a sign that said all times welcome in. We got to touch stingrays the price is reasonable. Make sure to validate your tickets to receive 8 dollar parking
