"Aqui es Texcoco is named after the city of Texcoco de Mora in the state of Mexico, a place considered the birthplace of barbacoa (slow-roasted lamb prepared in an underground fire pit). The restaurant’s signature pit-roasted lamb is served in a casual dining room in the City of Commerce." - Eater Staff

"It took a feat of engineering to produce legal and traditional barbacoa inside of a U.S. restaurant. Former engineer and barbacoa master Paco Perez has done just that with his own oven design to simulate the conditions in an underground pit. Pit-roasted tender lamb cuts, pancita, and lamb skulls are served with corn tortillas, papalo (wild greens), and green and red salsas for making tacos, just like back in Texcoco at this large restaurant in Commerce." - Bill Esparza

The Barbacoa was good just wished they would serve it with rice or beans but they just give you the barbacoa by itself with some Tortillas. The hot sauce wasn't spicy my favorite was the green sauce because it had a spicy yet lemony feel to it the red hot sauce was very bland and it wasn't as good as the green sauce. Also ordered a rice water (Agua de Horchata) it was good it made a good combination with the Barbacoa.

Nice place; it has karaoke, the waitress is very friendly, the men restroom is clean and well stock. The meat is tender and juicy; very good birria and the sopes are good and big.

First time at this place and kind of sad to see the potential of this place going to waste. The lamb barbacoa and the consome are very tasty. Cafe de olla is good. However, the tacos de cesos dorado where not the best, not even really dorados, it was actually just a soft corn tortilla taco. The chapulines where way too salty. The agua de tamarindo was very sweet and not flavorful, I doubt it had any real tamarind at all. The salsas are not really flavorful nor spicy. We also tried walnut pulque , it didn't taste like pecan at all, and had chocolate in it, that didn't made any sense to me. The restaurant look is not bad but there is no AC. The restrooms smelled and didn't look clean at all. The way they serve everything in disposable styrofoam plates and cups makes the place feel very cheap. Prices are whats expected for the type of food they serve but i would expect for my coffee to be served in a real cup and my food in a real plate.

The barbacoa was cooked to perfection!! The tortillas and conzome was delicious. The staff member that assisted us was alone, but had great, excellent customer service. He was awesome!

Plenty of mixed reviews on this place but it was a good visit for us. Meats were flavorful and authentic. Service was good with refills and waiter stopping by multiple times to check on us. Recommended.
