The food is SO delicious, fun cocktails and good coffee. Great place to have a relaxed brunch. Service was slow, food took over an hour to arrive but they might have been understaffed that day. I would go again but not if I'm in a rush.

Duck confit, french onion soup, red wine. First time, around the corner from our evening show. The french onion soup was too light, the manager generously fixed it and took it off the bill.

Had a bit of time, so walked the Castro in SF. Happened on Aquitaine and was drawn in by the atmosphere, couches and homey decor. Not many folks at 4pm, the staff seemed like good friends enjoying working together. Pleasant music, so I decided to try it. I got the special, a reasonable price for the area. I’m glad I tried it, and am inspired to recommend it.

The servers and host make you feel like a friend without being overbearing. They really know how to make you feel welcome. Food: The food at Aquitaine is incredible. We've tried a bunch of appetizers like the Brussels sprouts (a must-have), mussels, and caramelized eggplant. For mains, the cassoulet was delicious, the duck reuben was fantastic, and the scallops were tasty. The food is always carefully plated and looks great, but it's really all about the flavor. Standout Dishes: The bone marrow toasts and the charcuterie board are absolute standouts. I'm still dreaming about them! They're just so well-prepared and delicious. Drinks: If you go, you have to try the La Rappiere cocktail. It's their take on an Aperol Spritz and it's awesome. The drink menu has a great selection, so there's something for everyone. Dessert: Dessert at Aquitaine is a treat. The crème brûlée is served at room temperature, which is perfect. It's such a pet peeve of mine when desserts come out cold from the fridge. The churros are also fantastic—fresh and not too sweet, just right to end the meal. Overall: Going to Aquitaine feels like finding a hidden gem in Paris that only locals know about. I highly recommend it for a fun date night or a night out with friends. It's great for catching up because it's quiet enough to have a conversation but lively enough that you don't feel like you have to whisper. Aquitaine has never let me down, and I can't wait to go back for more amazing meals. For context, I also really love Emmy's Spaghetti Shack, Berretta, Taqueria Vallarta, Kahnfections, and Arizmendi.

Amazing place! I loved the food. I had the steak frites with a fantastic sparkling rosé, and a lime pie. it was delicious!!! Decoration, music and service were great!! Good for a date, dinner with friends or solo dinner🙂

We went to celebrate my friends birthday. It's very cozy and nice there, I love the entire design is very unique. It feels like you are seating at the living room. Food is a mix of French and American cusine, mussels were so good and delicious. What impressed me the most is how they serve the food, plating is so unique and cute. That burning smell of rosemary is stucked in my head. Great selection of wines, afordable. Will recommend to try out this place.

Stopped by Aquitaine after getting off the Muni J which stops right in front. The menu posted to the window looked amazingly appetizing for brunch, drinks etc AND it was pretty quiet inside so we gave it a shot. We ordered drinks which came out pretty fast and when the waiter returned with the drinks we ordered food. The drinks were flavorful and truly delicious! The couple sitting closest to the door were finishing up and then left after about 10 minutes, the table next to us were noshing on cheeses and then had their brunch delivered. There was a large group of girls in the back area (maybe 10 or so) and we noticed the waiter bringing plate after plate to their table. The plates seemed to come out of the kitchen pretty staggered but we didn't pay it much attention as we were enjoying our drinks. At some point, my stomach started growling and we noticed it had been An HOUR since we placed our order!! To be honest, it would have been DECENT for the waiter to let us know that there would be a significant wait and maybe we would have ordered something quick (like cheese) to nosh on until our food was prepared. BUT NO which I thought that was FUCKED UP AND RUDE! I flagged down the waiter and asked if our food would be much longer, because I was really hungry and if so then we'd like to order and appetizer. He was happy to place that order and then said that the food would be out in a few minutes, so we opted not to order the appetizer and wait. When our food FINALLY ARRIVED AFTER AN HOUR AND 10 MINUTES, the waiter didn't bother to offer any sort of apology for the delay. Which sadly I didn't expect since he didn't have to decency to tell us about the wait in the first place. Not sure if was just an off day, if they were short staffed or what but informing your customers of that would be helpful! As I stated, we could have ordered something to nosh on, but instead my stomach was empty, full of booze and I was starting to get a headache -OR- I don't know, maybe offer us something to nosh on to make up for the wait?!? Communication is key folks! It would have made this review a 5 star instead of a 3.

I love this place! It's so much more than just a wine bar. They have delicious food (try the roasted garlic and the polenta), the cutest and friendliest staff, and a very reasonably priced happy hour selection. Also, it's so comfortable. There are two nooks with sofas and plenty of other seating. It's quiet enough for a conversation but lively enough for a fun night out. It's a gem of a wine bar and a fantastic addition to the neighborhood!

Came here for the first time for brunch. Ordered the eggplant and whole garlic appetizers. Yum. Should have taken some pics of the food but they are all down my belly now. Host is very friendly, too.

What a lovely find! Came here for lunch with my mom and my brother as this was walking distance from the hospital my dad was admitted to at the time. Such a cute space with open windows so felt very al fresco and under different circumstances, I would've tried some wine. Service was great and the chef came and checked in on us during our meal, which was very nice of them. Our server was a sweetheart and brought us extra bread (delicious) so not to waste the sauce from the escargot! My brother's burger was LOADED and he really enjoyed it! My mom had the duck sandwich and she loved the flavor and the crisp of the bread. If ever back in the area, would like to come try the wine and more of their dishes!!

Came here and got wine and bunch of food. Favorite was the mushroom and mussels appetizers. The mac & duck was more mac than any duck but was still good. I wouldn't get it again though. Their fries are super crispy and delicious. Loved the vibe and ambiance. Super European and cozy. The serving time was long but didn't mind it since I wasn't in any rush.

Boy has the quality of the food at this place gone down. Way down. I ordered the steak via DoorDash, I opened the box find my steak, covered in what appeared to be Ore-ida frozen fries. They were tasteless. The steak was incredibly tough, and tasted burnt on the outside. likely the result of an uncleaned grill. I had hoped that the lemon tart I ordered for dessert would be the saving grace and was extremely disappointed to open it and find a heap of melted vanilla ice cream. Never in my life have I seen a lemon tart with ice cream, and what "genius" in the kitchen would send ice cream with a to go order? Next to a hot dish. They also included bread, that was completely burnt to a crisp. Completely inedible. I had wondered how this place stayed open, now I know, they cut corners in the worst way, by degrading the quality of their food. Sad.

Cozy romantic interiors and a great location in front of the J Church and 22 bus line stop at the corner of Church and Market. Location is just blocks from Safeway and Whole Foods, F line stop. Our waiter was delightful. Food won't be the reason I come back. It will be because I want a nice glass of wine with good people watching, cozying up on one of their couches.

Fantastic spot for a cute date or group meet up. It was pretty quiet for a Wednesday just a few tables inside. I loved that it wasn't too loud or dark so I could actually have a conversation with my date. We got a bottle of wine which was amazing! Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and didn't hesitate to provide suggestions and even samples! Amazing! He even came by multiple times to pour our wine for us... it was lovely. I would come back here, it's in a pretty convenient location and the appetizers were had were also very tasty. The crab mushrooms and watermelon salad were on point.

Came here for the happy hour which runs 4-6pm. Great selection of things. I loved the La Reppiere which was their version of an aperol spritz. The polenta fries were super good and the mushrooms stuffed with crab were juicy and great. Overall a great happy hour

Here's why I like happy hour: Aquitaine offers 12 food items at $7 each, 4 beers at $6 each and 6 aperitifs and wines at $8 each. A cocktail and 2 foods make for a light and satisfying meal. Service is leisurely. The interior is such eye candy, lots of colors, with ample seating arrangements. It is located on Church Street right of Market, an easy destination.

My New Go-to French Restaurant in SF Having completed my fifth visit to Aquitaine in 3 months, I feel obligated to share my overall experiences. Conveniently located on Church St. only half a block from Market St., the location is easy to reach by public transit. With plenty of windows along the length of the space, a long bar with plenty of seating, and a mix of tables, a few loveseats, and comfy lounge chairs, there are varied options to choose from. With an extensive wine list and the ability to purchase bottles to go, you should be able to find something new to try. The owner, Andrew, provides expert guidance if you are unsure what will pair best with your meal. He always brings 3 bottles to offer with superb descriptions to help you choose. There is a full bar, too. Now the food. The menu includes great classics and there is chalkboard with a variety of specials for the day. As a fan of cassoulet, Aquitaine does not disappoint. Delivered piping hot with 2 sausages, duck leg, pork belly, and tender beans - so good! Chicken Basquaise is a new favorite with piperade sauce containing a nice, sweet undertone to it. I enjoyed the scallops when my appetite wasn't too big. Appetizers of escargot served uniquely but top notch, smoke bacon flatbread that isn't too heavy as a shared starter, or shrimp-avocado toast - you cannot go wrong. The lemon tart or chocolate fondant are good choices for dessert, but I found the churros with chocolate dipping sauce a bit overcooked. Future visits will include the Sunday special of whole baked chicken for 2-3 looks delicious and seems to be enjoyed by neighboring diners. Also serving brunch Friday-Sunday with some unique options not found on the main dinner menu. Went with a group of friends last week because one of them heard about Aquitaine's happy hour on TikTok, of all places, and I am so happy she suggested it! One of the best happy hour menus I have seen in recent memory in the city. The HH selection is plentiful which allows you try a lot of different things if you are with a little group. My favorites were the deviled eggs, polenta fries and the petit croque monsieur. Our server was very friendly and efficient. Atmosphere was so cozy, yet bright. I tried the happy hour bubbles, white and red wines (don't judge, lol) and enjoyed them all. I was disappointed that there weren't more people patronizing this fantastic place on a Thursday evening, but hopefully the social media buzz spreads and more people realize that Aquitane is a fantastic place for a date, to meet up with friends, or just sit at the bar and read a book. I can't wait to go back in the next couple weeks!

Came here on a Fri evening for post-dinner drinks with a few friends. It's a comfortable, laidback environment, and our server Leo was especially awesome. We were debating between three wine choices (all quite different), and Leo was kind enough to let us try all 3! He was very patient and helpful in answering our questions about the wines. Through this sampling, we were able to choose a wine we didn't originally anticipate getting -- a Bordeaux Chateau Martet 2007. Wonderful earthy wine (notes of mushroom and oak, or so says my novice nose) - we were very delighted with the pick. We also ordered fries -- the portion size was generous and the aioli really made the dish. Throughout our meal, Leo would stop by and ask how everything was, if we'd need any other food, etc. Definitely want to try a dinner her next time! Both the Sunday chicken and normal dinner menu seem great.

A colorful local wine + bites place! I've been twice and the bar tender / server is a delight. Very kind and makes you want to keep drinking! They have a good HH, I think 4-6. Wines are about $8 glass and you can get many small bites for a good price. The seating varies between tables and couches. Cozy and makes you feel you've stepped into a European spot. Also serve dinner too! French cuisine. My star rating: 5 - must go!!! 4 - liked it, give it a try! 3 - it was alright 2 - I probably won't go back 1 - turnaround and run

Wow - we celebrated our daughter's 24th birthday last night at Aquitaine and I couldn't believe how great the food was. I had checked the menu out on-line and thought I knew what I wanted, but then the waiter came out with a board with the specials on it, and that made the decision very difficult. It's always a great sign when it's different to choose what you want from a menu because everything looks so good. We ended up sharing and I would have to say my favorite was the lamb sliders. The ambiance is casual but nice and the service was very attentive. This place is a real hidden gem!

Came here because I heard of the great happy hour. Drinks and food are all under $10 which is pretty good for SF. There's also a lot to choose from for HH. I came here with 2 friends to catch up and it was a great place for that! The inside is very homey and cozy. There's all sorts of seating: bar, table, couch and there's even an awning which is cool. Service was really good, our service was very friendly and even joked around with us a bit. Someone was celebrating their birthday and when the staff started to sing them happy birthday, everyone in the restaurant joined in. For food we got a bunch of stuff from the charcuterie, a few of the specials and several glasses of wine. We also tried 2 desserts both of which were pretty good! Overall, I'd come back here again but only for happy hour. Prices outside of HH were a bit high for what the food was in my opinion. But the service was great and I enjoyed the overall vibes!

I always visit when I am in town and I did again last night and as usual I left feeling extremely content with life and every decision that I have ever made! Excellent food (I loved the Duck Magret) and wine selection in a very relaxed space displaying some artifacts from their previous location. Thank you again Leo for your attentive service over the past 11 years (also Andrew who has been there for the same time).

Every time I come here I discover something else delicious! They have the best selection of wine and it pairs perfectly with everything on the menu! The Sunday chicken is so far my favorite, but I'll be back to try more!

Weird experience at this wine bar. I've been looking forward to checking it out for a while. I finally went there tonight. The guy at the bar bumped into me as I was getting seated and didn't apologize as he brusquely tossed the menu in front of me. I should have taken that as a sign. It took a while for him to return. When he did, I asked for a taste of one of their wines. After a number of minutes, he returned and said they didn't have the one I'd asked for and offered a taste of another wine instead. It was nothing like the varietal I wanted. He mumbled a few words, apparently by way of explanation that I could not make out as his back was turned to me. When I inquired what kind of wine it was, he said he didn't know; the guy in the back ordered it. Then he went back into the kitchen. A loud smashing of plates and shouting ensued. I took this as my cue to leave. So much for the nice dinner I had planned. I went down the block instead.

The food at Aquitaine is always fabulous. The staff and service always welcoming and attentive. Aquitaine is a very comfortable place for everything from small plates, share plates all the way up to traditional French Sunday dinners. French cuisine with a personal twist from the chef owner.

Our server, Leon, was so great! I never usually write reviews, but his attention to detail and quality of service really made my birthday dinner special. Thank you! Also, the wine was really great as well; well-worth the price. One thing to note: I thought Happy Hour was offered daily, but it is only offered on weekdays. Just FYI in case you are trying to come in for that specifically.

I loved this so much. The extra butter on top, the bread, the whole thing. I could have drank it but I had eaten before and needed to have this bite. Also the wine. I had a spanish rosé that you don't find a lot. Andrew and Alex were lovely to me and I look forward to going back solo and with colleagues and friends to eat and drink more. Such chill vibes. Lovely location. Quite a gem.

I've lived in SF for 15 years and for some reason have never had a favorite French restaurant which I've always had in other cities I've lived in, but I think i may have finally found one! Sat in the front section, which i realized after, is not quite as intimate as the back but it has a nice street view of Church Waiter was super attentive and helpful and was kind enough to let us taste a bunch of wines before the manager/owner? finally helped us hit the sweet spot with a Napa red blend (I know -sacrilegious at a French restaurant) We started with the Deviled eggs and the beet salad, which was enough for 2. Eggs were amazing and the dressing on the beet salad had a crisp tartness that was perfect I had the Duck Magret which was the best duck I've had for a while and my dining companion had the Chicken Basquaise which was rustic and delicious and we split an order of the pomme frites which were the perfect accompaniment For dessert, the Gascon Sundae was light and refreshing and the lemon tart was excellent as well All in all the most enjoyable French dinner I've had for a while. Don't know why it took me so long to find this place. I'll definitely be back!

Wow. Spectacular! Magnificent. My friends and I were desperately looking for a breakfast after a long night out and everything was a 50 minute wait around the area. We are so thankful we came across this spot that we originally thought it was only a wine bar, the food is the BEST breakfast I've had in a long time. We're from LA so we are always trying out new spots and this is by far one of the best gems I've come across in a while. Try it out! I know I'll be recommending this spot to all my friends that visit San Francisco!

This little spot is wonderful, went with a friend who's friends with the co-owner/GM.... Either way our time there was fabulous! Went on a Friday evening after work, and they had the best European wines! We drank and ate the night away! We ordered everything on the special... the escargot was to die for! Cheers!!

Ordered the Aquitaine Royal and the sangria. Both were delicious and refreshing! We also ordered two specials which were the French onion soup and the cauliflower beignets, the cauliflower was crunchy and savory and slightly sweet. Loved the food and drinks as well as friendly service

Came here last week and today for my birthday brunch and both times it was amazing! It is a casual welcoming French bistro with great service and delicious food! Favorite items: - mussels with chorizo, enough for 3 people to share Make sure to order the frites with it even though they give you plenty of bread - deviled eggs with tidbits of bacon and fried onions - macaroni and duck confit - steak and frites - the server split it into 2 separate plates for us. THANK YOU Don't forget to save room for dessert. We had the poach pear (it was a special and so light and heavenly) and my daughter devoured the crème brûlée! The also gave me a delicious panna cota as a bday treat This is my favorite new place Loved the food and friendly and thoughtful service

This is the most phenomenal place to enjoy some delicious food. I will say that this is the best place to eat in SF if you are in town. Do not miss this girl, I would skip the drinking part of it and come here alllll day to eat. They have vegetarian, vegan, and even carnivore options or whatever the hell you digest! I am from LA so my taste buds have been around, but this place will own my taste buds for the rest of my life!!!

My wife and I came here for my birthday dinner. We had made reservations and tried to cancel due to a surfeit of food earlier in the day, but someone from the restaurant called my wife and let her know that food was ordered by the restaurant according to our reservation, so it would be a disservice to the restaurant if we didn't show up. (We had pre-ordered the chicken special, more about which below.) As a result, we decided to keep the reservation, which turned out to be a terrible mistake. When we showed up, the host/waiter/bartender informed us we didn't need to be wearing masks, saying "We don't do that here." So, you know, health warning to all concerned. At least he checked our vaccination cards and IDs. He asked us if we had a reservation, and we said we did, but he didn't ask under what name. He then waved us over to an open table. Upon bringing us our menus, he informed us that the restaurant was out of the whole chicken special, which we had ordered ahead of time, in no small part because my wife is a student and we were trying to have a nice dinner out on a budget. He said he would talk to the chef and later came back and said that we could have the chicken after all, but he didn't seem happy about it. Eventually we received place settings and wine. Even more eventually, we received water. The waiter never made eye contact and half-heartedly assured us at one point that the chicken was "coming." After an hour of waiting, we left. I did pay for the wine, in case you're wondering, and I apologized to the waiter for inconveniencing him with our presence. I can't testify to the quality of the food for obvious reasons, the wine was mediocre (although that's to be expected when one is ordering the budget meal, I suppose), and the entire service experience was horrible from beginning to end. Aquitaine is on my "do not fly" list as a result.

It was a pleasant surprise finding this place. I had to get errands done and Aquitaine was on my way back so we stopped by for a glass of wine and ended up getting way more than just wine xD I ordered a bottle of wine because they have "30% off bottles" written everywhere. I found out later it's only for takeout but it didnt matter because we ended up enjoying everything! We tried Pommes Frites, Deviled Eggs, Prawn Tartine, Smoked Pancetta Tart, and Duck Confit. Our favorite was Prawn Tartine but everything was super tasty! Would like to go again soon :)

I have been here 3 times so far and each time I was very impressed. This is a tiny French bistro and the food was beautiful. I tried the duck Rueben and it is definitely one of the best Rueben I have ever had. The bread was toasted perfectly and the duck meat was tender and delicious. I never thought duck can replace ham in a Rueben sandwich! Their prawn tartine sandwich is also a great choice if you don't want to eat a whole sandwich. It is an open-face sandwich with ground olives at the bottom. It really adds great flavor when combined with avocado and shrimp. My friends who I convinced to join me were really blown away by the duck Rueben and we all plan on returning to try the burger and other dishes next time.

This place is a gem! Started with the Mac' n duck (amazing) followed by the croque monsieur witch was delicious but the duck Rueben was the best sandwich I've ever eaten in my life! Get here before the others find out how good it is!

First time to Aquitaine tonight and color me impressed. The crab stuffed mushrooms were truly the star of my night (at least for me since it combined all of my favorite flavors). Though the steak and fries was a very close second. The wine selection was mindboggling - and though I am very hard to please wine-wise, I was recommended one that I would consider one of the top 5 bottles of white wine I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. I can't say that I had a single bad bite of food and the knowledgeability regarding both the flavors and the wines really impressed. We will definitely be back - and I highly recommend it. They have seating capacity large enough for medium-sized groups and such fun nooks/coves/couches for a casual date night.

I went to this restaurant for the first time today. The atmosphere was very nice and they had a very nice brunch menu. I ordered an aperitif which was served promptly. However, my food order did not arrive. After an hour ( I was with a friend so we were having a nice visit ) I asked the waiter about our order and he said it was coming shortly. After another half hour we had not received our order and noticed that someone who had arrived after us received their order. At this point I was disgusted and asked for our check for the drinks as we were leaving. We were told we could leave without paying which we did. I know at this time it is difficult to hire waiters and waitresses but an hour and a half waiting is totally unacceptable. I was disappointed as it was a lovely place and I was looking forward to tasting their food.

Great spot for brunch! My husband and I came here on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. The waiter was really friendly and welcoming. There were a few specials on a chalkboard that he gave us more details on. The interior was really cute - French vibes. We ordered the pastrami hash, Mac n duck, and French fries which came in a wooden boot. Everything was delicious! I LOVED the Mac n duck - it didn't have too much duck and it was a good balance. It was easy to get a table. There were only 2 other parties at the restaurant.

It has been a while since I have written a Yelp review and the food and service at Aquitaine was amazing. If this was ranked out of a 10 point scale they are a 15. HANDS DOWN, one of my favorite restaurants in the city now! Everything was delicious, it was a shame I did not have a bigger stomach to keep eating, I can't wait to go back and try more food. They even do seasonal food items!

I found out about this place because I was looking on OpenTable for restaurants with private dining. We decided to give this place a try before we booked the private dining for our event and we LOVED this place! The food is excellent, the space is very intimate, and the service was exceptionally friendly. I didn't think restaurants in the FiDi area could really be that great because they mostly cater to working people who are forced to eat nearby, but this place is a true gem! For appetizers, we tried a melon salad and the deviled eggs. For entrees, I tried the mussels while my partner tried to cheese and meat plate. The mussels were really tasty and the portion was large. We also tried their Ile Flottante. Everything was excellent. What's even better is that I found their prices to be very reasonable. I'm really excited to come back for our private event in December!

Aquitaine is a sweet little French bistro at the bottom of Nob Hill in the financial district. With a tiny storefront and a very deep bay. it is east to blow past. We had found the restaurant on Yelp and had made reservations for lunch, so we were actively seeking it. Otherwise, I would have missed it. The restaurant has a very provencal feel - it is yellow (with yellow lights too that are just terrible for those Instagram shots IMHO) with mostly communal tables that have the classic French bistro look. While we had reservations and expected to have a low table for just our party, it was more of a reservation at any table that happened to be available (surprising when you have five people). The wine list is generous with many choices. Fortunately, the servers are knowledgeable and forgiving. The first wine that had was self selected and was absolutely wretched. Our server asked what I liked and he found me a quick replacement. The other wines selected by friends were done with guidance and these as well as my replacement were all quite good. It is fun and different to find French wine in the land of California wine. The food was generally very good. The salmon special was not - the fish was very poor quality and lacking in any flavor. However, the other dishes, from a classic Croque Monsieur to an inventive Duck Reuben, were excellent. I had the Ratatouille special, which was an exquisite presentation. Arranged veggies with a low and slow sauce are oh so expensive, but these were out of this world. I devoured the ring of grilled veggies (tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini and eggplant) encircling a roasted peppers and tomato pieperade. Twas delicious and worth a return trip. Similarly, the sandwiches used quality ingredients - hearty bread with good meats and cheeses. Overall, I very much enjoyed my meal. I felt sorry for DM who had gotten stuck with the poor salmon that was edible but lacking, and I was disappointed by the communal set-up, but I was a fan and would recommend it to others.

Found this place searching for French food. What a wonderful surprise. Everything from the ambiance, to the cruising to the wonderful intimate service , even the rain added to the atmosphere, it was just amazing.

I recently tried Aquitaine for a business lunch and it certainly exceeded my expectations. It's a cute little French bistro/wine bar. The service was exceptional - I wish I remembered our servers name! He was extremely attentive and had great suggestions on the wine list. We shared an order of the deviled eggs, which were amazing. Pomme Frites - yes, totally worth it. The seasoning was perfect on the fries. I couldn't get myself to stop eating them! The burger was perfect without any add-ons (egg, cheese etc). It felt portioned really well too - I finished my entire meal! I did make reservations, but it felt like you could have walked in and easily gotten a table (possibly because it was a Tuesday). We will definitely be back for the happy hour!

Great experience. Cozy but spacious, dimly-lit but with bright corners, really romantic but perfect for a group of friends...this place has it all! And that's just the ambiance. Now let's talk about food. 10 stars . We were seeking a very light supper, so we nibbled on a few appetizers and some wine. Deviled eggs...salty, crunchy, creamy with a pop of sour, Wow! The almost surreal creamy polenta with bright fresh pesto, fragrant EVOO & cherry tomatoes! We're all signed up to come back for a real brunch or dinner the next time we drive up from Silicon Valley. Highly recommend that y'all visit Chef Andrew's new location (on Church, right off Market) PS: The host/manager was so refreshingly genuine, and made feel completely at home.

I'm only in SF a few times each year, but whenever I have the opportunity, I do my best to book a lunch group here at least once a year. However, there is no way you would have known that by the way I was greeted when I arrived. Our waiter/host interacted with me like a long lost friend - fun, helpful, familiar. He immediately got us seated, proactively explained certain dishes and provided us excellent guidance. We ordered some starters and a few glasses of wine that came out quickly, with our entrees perfectly timed to follow. Our used dishes and plates were swiftly moved off our table to keep it from feeling cluttered but without us ever feeling rushed. Of what we ordered, the Duck Reuben was my favorite (although I'm glad we split it since it's a tad rich and heavy.) Runner up dishes included the Prosciutto and Peaches, Pommes Frites and the mixed charcuterie board. Aside from the delicious food and wine, the restaurant is still as charming as ever, with a festively cozy ambiance. Additionally, another thing that I really appreciate about this place is how quickly they can get you in despite a heavy lunch crowd. With reservations, I've never had to wait to be seated and they're always happy to bring you the bill whenever you need it. With a lunch of typically 1.5 hours, including a mile walk round-trip, I've never felt concerned that service would cause me to run late. And for that (among many other things) I'm ever so grateful!

Let me say that this place is awesome. The vibes, the ambience, the feeling that you're actually in France at a bistro - it was a great experience. The service wasn't pretentious; it was genuine and friendly. The duck reuben was amazing! I'm coming back, for sure.

I've enjoyed Aquitaine since the time it was in the Financial District. What a delight to find it moved to my neighborhood! And the new space still has all the color and European charm. Conveniently accessible from MUNI 22, F and J lines The friendly and attentive owner and staff have strong knowledge of their vast wine collection. Even wines by the glass are a varied selection. The bartender can also help you find what best meets your taste. While there is background music, it's not overbearing, and sets a great bistro ambience for conversation between friends and staff.

Cool french bistro and wine bar. I came in for a quick lunch during work. I ordered the duck Reuben sandwich and french fries. Service was friendly and its perfect atmosphere for a date. My fries arrived first served in a large wooden boot which was an interesting touch. They reminded me of an upgraded version of 5 guys fries from the shape, cajun spices, and massive shareable size. The sandwich was tasty the star was the super hearty toasted bread. The cheese, corned beef, and bits of duck added good flavors to the thick crunchy bread. To my pleasant surprise it came with a salad of greens tossed in light oil. The meal was filling enough on its own with the big order of fries but no regrets here. Good spot to checkout if you like french food or wine in a nice atmosphere.

I love this place, because it's a small and cozy venue for French bistro food. My favorite mussels in wine with baguette. There is a good balance of saltiness and acidity here. With fries added, heaven. I paired everything with a French style Chardonnay, which is more fruity than oaked and buttery and it was delicious. My boyfriend got the burger, which I have before, and it was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. For dessert I highly suggest almost anything on the menu, but the sundae with plums and hazelnuts satisfies all the balances in flavor. In short, just un-complicated, non-fussy French food in a cozy venue. I'll be coming back.
