"An intimate Japanese restaurant that fits well among the string of watering holes in the Arakicho area of Shinjuku. The two who run it are experts in cuisine and sake. Set menus are plotted with the tastes of sake drinkers in mind. One piece at a time, in small quantities, is an enjoyable way to dine. As the sake flows, boiled greens, sushi, fried items and other items are served with varying degrees of preparation and temperature. A seasonal selection of steamed items on rice ends the meal." - Michelin Inspector

Me and my family were the only foreigners on the place but the chefs were incredibly welcoming. The food is very different than anything I’ve ever ate as an american, and while I didn’t absolutely love every one of the 20 courses, the vast majority were very good and super interesting. Also, they kept pairing sake with the food as we went and it was very good. One of the chefs spoke a bit of English and he was very kind and made sure to explain the meals the best he could in English. I highly recommend it as a foreigner.

Had an amazing solo dining experience. Each plate was perfectly proportioned and paired well with the sake suggestions. A true hidden gem.

This restaurant was my first Izakaya experience in Japan. The staff are super nice and helpful. They detailed every small dish while serving it. They have various types of Sake and help you to pair with the right food. The silverfish in the menu was an unknown delicacy for my testbuds. Wonderful spot!
