"A real Budapest classic, located in Buda, the hilly and more residential side of town, Arany Kaviár was originally founded in 1986. With the fall of the communist regime in 1989-90, the restaurant became privately owned. The original Georgian and Russian concept - featuring, of course, a lot of caviar - appealed to the Hungarians and to the tourists from the former Soviet Union. The restaurant kept its intimate charm, with its rich and heavy draperies and its secret garden. A impressive wall of excellent Hungarian and international wine bottles greets the guests as they enter. Nowadays, a dinner at Arany Kaviár can still start with a caviar tasting, but in a fun, educational way. Guests are presented with a tray of five types of caviar, ranging from trout roe to Iranian Beluga caviar. They are kindly asked to eat each of them directly off the top of their own hand, bringing the precious sturgeon roe to the right temperature. An Unforgettable Evening at Arany Kaviar We had the pleasure of visiting your restaurant last night – and it was truly an extraordinary experience from start to finish. The evening began with the caviar menu, which was nothing short of fantastic – a true celebration of flavor, beautifully composed and executed to perfection. We then enjoyed the full menu, which was thoughtfully adapted for us, as we don’t eat meat. The meat course was seamlessly transformed into an exquisite fish dish. We were genuinely impressed by the ease and care with which our dietary preferences were accommodated – a wonderful example of true hospitality. The service was outstanding: professional, genuinely friendly, and attentive in every way. Just as one would expect in a place of this caliber. Thank you for your dedication and for creating such a memorable evening for your guests. As for the food: every dish was a masterpiece – a true explosion of flavors. The ambiance is equally beautiful – elegant yet inviting – making you feel completely at ease. The wine selection was excellent, and the sommelier immediately understood my taste – something that rarely happens. Most places tend to miss the mark, but not at Arany Kaviar. Thank you to the entire team – the evening was perfect in every way. We truly wonder why this restaurant hasn’t been awarded a star yet – it is without a doubt well deserved. Thank you again – we’ll most certainly be back!

We chose to go a la carte but had the most amazing amuse bouche as a surprise, as well as a beautiful surprise little chocolate birthday cake which came in a music box and some tiny surprise desserts. Service was fantastic and the sommelier suggestions exquisite (especially the tokai).

Out of this world wine list (although a bit expensive). We had the full tasting menu with the caviar experience and were very very happy 😊 Great and attentive service. Will definitely go back when in Budapest.

The new Chef and the menu is marvellous. My personal favourite was the dessert! It is really incredible to see that a Restaurant with such history can renew itself. I would go back and try the whole menu again.

Totally worth to try!! The food is good, the wine range is spectacular. We have tried 4 different types of wine today and it all so well paired. The most important thing that make this experience unforgettable is the service, supper welcoming and friendly. Recommended.

We visited with my friend and we choose the chefs table. It was a fantastic experience, learned a lot about caviar and the food was great. I was especially impressed by the wine pairing, which matched the food perfectly. We were given the royal treatment for sure, so I can only just recommend the place. Thank you!

Two tasting menus, one fish, one red meat dominant. Pairing options available for each chef menu. Attention to detail in not only the presentation, service, and ingredients, but also an exceptional pairing of wine with each course. The desert is mind blowing, amazing composition of layering with grapefruit and kumquat. Portions appear delicate but you will not go away hungry. Highly recommend its traditional Hungarian fish tasting menu!
