"A real Budapest classic on the Buda side, this 1986-founded fine-dining restaurant keeps its intimate charm—rich draperies, a secret garden, and an impressive wall of Hungarian and international wines—even as the kitchen quietly revolutionizes tradition. Dinner can begin with a playful, educational caviar tasting: five roes, from trout to Iranian Beluga, eaten from the back of your hand to bring them to the right temperature. Since 2020, Head of R&D José Guerrero has been collaborating with Head Chef László Kanász on science-driven projects—farm-to-table research with Blue Hill, eye-tracking with a neuroscientist to map diners’ brain vibrations, and an app-controlled indoor garden—open-source knowledge they aim to share with Hungarian chefs. The creativity shows on the plate and, thanks to Kanász’s Balaton roots, it’s one of Budapest’s rare fine-dining spots for excellent fish and seafood: lobster tail, seaweed salad with almond jelly, and urchins; a Gillardeau oyster brightened with paprika and finger-lime pops citrusy and tart against iodine-rich brine. The experience is theatrical and fun: beef tartar is assembled with tweezers tableside, a whole roasted pigeon arrives in a wooden box with an exquisite new potato emulsion, and dessert appears as a tower hiding visually stunning sweets—a true feast for the eyes." - Le Guide MICHELIN

Originally from Burgundy, there are plenty of great restaurants over there, and we were lucky to try several. I must say though that our dinner at Arany will remain as one of our best “gastronomic memory” til now. What I particularly enjoyed is that their food “smells”. Usually in such restaurants, our eyes are pleased by the presentation, our mouth by the taste. This time my nose got all the attentation. It was surprising and very pleasant. And this did not only applied to the food, but also to the wines, masterly selected by the Sommelier David. The Furmint from Holdvölgy, and the Tokaji 6 Puttonyos from Szeps showed me what Hungary has best to offer. Apart from the food, you can tell that this institution is well managed by seeing how attentive and passionate all the team is. We particularly remember Daniel, but really thank you to each and everyone of them for making this dinner in Budapest truly unforgettable.

An Unforgettable Evening at Arany Kaviar We had the pleasure of visiting your restaurant last night – and it was truly an extraordinary experience from start to finish. The evening began with the caviar menu, which was nothing short of fantastic – a true celebration of flavor, beautifully composed and executed to perfection. We then enjoyed the full menu, which was thoughtfully adapted for us, as we don’t eat meat. The meat course was seamlessly transformed into an exquisite fish dish. We were genuinely impressed by the ease and care with which our dietary preferences were accommodated – a wonderful example of true hospitality. The service was outstanding: professional, genuinely friendly, and attentive in every way. Just as one would expect in a place of this caliber. Thank you for your dedication and for creating such a memorable evening for your guests. As for the food: every dish was a masterpiece – a true explosion of flavors. The ambiance is equally beautiful – elegant yet inviting – making you feel completely at ease. The wine selection was excellent, and the sommelier immediately understood my taste – something that rarely happens. Most places tend to miss the mark, but not at Arany Kaviar. Thank you to the entire team – the evening was perfect in every way. We truly wonder why this restaurant hasn’t been awarded a star yet – it is without a doubt well deserved. Thank you again – we’ll most certainly be back!

Simply amazing ! Service is perfect, quiet and very caring. Food is delicious, cooking time were simply perfection, and we will have memories for a long time. The venison was a must. The Caviar degustation was very interesting. Wine pairing was also a nice discovery (and we are French). Worth every penny. Our best restaurant in Budapest. It was a recommandation from our hotel and it did not disappoint !!

Took my wife to Arany Kaviár for her birthday and the whole evening was exceptional. The food was amazing, the service flawless, and the team went above and beyond to make every moment feel special. Highly recommend for a truly memorable dining experience.

Out of this world wine list (although a bit expensive). We had the full tasting menu with the caviar experience and were very very happy 😊 Great and attentive service. Will definitely go back when in Budapest.

The new Chef and the menu is marvellous. My personal favourite was the dessert! It is really incredible to see that a Restaurant with such history can renew itself. I would go back and try the whole menu again.
