Ararat Grill Bar - Review - Sunny Isles Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"This Sunny Isles spot specializes in the food of Armenia but also includes some dishes from other Caucasian countries. There is some overlap between what you’ll find here and many of South Florida's Georgian restaurants. But stick to the Armenian specialties. We found out the hard way that cheesy breads are more of a Georgian thing. Nonetheless, you should definitely order the lahmajun—a ground meat flatbread that you finish with a squeeze of lemon juice before rolling up and devouring it. The tolma (stuffed grape leaves) are the best we’ve tried in South Florida: warm, meaty, and full of dill flavor. The lula kebab here is good but not what you should be ordering. Instead get the excellent osetra sturgeon kebab. It’s like the wagyu of the Caspian Sea." - Carlos C Olaechea

Absolutely incredible experience at Ararat Grill Bar! The food was unbelievably delicious — every dish was full of rich, authentic Caucasian flavor. The staff were incredibly attentive, kind, and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The interior is beautifully renovated, with elegant tableware and music that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. We were so impressed that we saved this place to our favorites. Highly recommended — we left very happy and will definitely be coming back!

Ararat Grill Bar in South Miami is an absolute hidden gem for anyone who appreciates truly delicious food and cozy atmosphere. Every dish we tried was outstanding. The vegetable salad with tongue was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The baked manti — simply unforgettable! Crispy outside, juicy and aromatic inside. Eggplant rolls — light, delicate, and so tasty. And for dessert — Napoleon cake that literally melts in your mouth. The service was excellent. Special thanks to our server Alina — very friendly, attentive, and made our dinner even more enjoyable. This is definitely a place we’ll be coming back to every time we’re in Miami. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful dining experience with authentic flavors and warm ambiance.

Overall, my boyfriend and I had a great dinner at Ararat. We enjoyed the elevated and lively vibes, although indoors was quite loud. My boyfriend is Armenian, so we had quite high hopes for this meal. The drinks were mediocre: they were out of all the Armenian beers and the mountain pomegranate cocktail was a bit lackluster. We ordered the fresh herbs and feta, khachapuri, chicken shish kebab, and Napoleon cake. Everything was plated beautifully and was tasty. However, given the high prices, we had expected the food to be better and more flavorful. Again, we did enjoy the food, but just hoped for it to be better. The service was friendly, but not particularly attentive.

I had a wonderful experience at this Armenian restaurant in Sunny Isles Beach! The food was absolutely excellent — authentic flavors and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing evening. The service was truly first class — very professional and attentive. What makes it even more special is the live music on weekends! It adds such a fun and lively touch to the whole experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy delicious Armenian cuisine with great entertainment.

Google
We had an incredible experience at this Armenian restaurant! The food was absolutely amazing—my favorite was the lamb, cooked to perfection. The service was excellent, and the staff was attentive and welcoming. One of the highlights of the evening was the fantastic live singing, featuring both a male and female vocalist, which created a wonderful atmosphere. This place is perfect for a date night or a group dinner. Highly recommend! Thank you for the great service and delicious food—we will definitely be back!

The food here was amazing and a great representation of Armenian culture with the decor and the live entertainment added so much to the experience. Great for any occasion if you want a nice night out

I came down here from North Carolina for a little vacation and decided to try something new. Never had Armenian food before, so I figured, why not? It was my first time trying Armenian cuisine, and everything was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!

We had a party on 20 people. The place was decorated well . In my taste , it's too dark . The service was fast and accommodating. The chairs and sofas were very uncomfortable- run down. The singers were doing the best to give warm welcome atmosphere but they were available only until 10:30 pm which was weird to me. We had banquet menu . It seemed the food was not enough for table. Laps of no food at all was very unacceptable. The only thing we liked was dried meat assortment board. The mushroom potatoes was overdone and salty. Also fruit basket was on the table through the whole dinner. That's was weird too. It's should be given on desert. The Meat selection plate was just ok. I have to give them a credit for presentation of the food. It seems air-conditioning was not fixed. It was hot all the time. We tried Napoleon cake for desert and was not happy with it. Nothing special overall experience. I will not come back to this restaurant.

Yelp
I'm sure you have heard of the expression dinner and a movie right? Well, how about dinner and a language lesson? Deciding to give myself an early birthday treat after a long couple of weeks, I decided to try Ararat for dinner. While they have a few outside tables, their highlight is the formal inside dining room (get reservations!) as well as the bar where I sat. The dining room has a dimly lit, classy romantic vibe. At least Friday nights, there's also a live cover band serenading the crowd with a mix of Russian, Armenian and 80s/90s US ballads. The bar seats were plush and comfortable too. Coming from casual Friday at the office, I was a little more casual. My next visit I will definitely go a little better dressed. Speaking of the bar, my server was my teacher, as she gave me the opportunity to order in Russian. All the dishes I tried were "mnogo vkuzno" Very delicious! I started with the Khinkali Dumplings, delicious pockets of pasta filled with a nicely spicy minced beef & pork with a yummy kick from the coriander and fresh black pepper. My main was a tasty and well presented Chicken Tapaka - similar to rotisserie chicken - in a cast iron pan & garnished with red onions and pomegranate and a dipping dish of a red sauce. The side of jasmine rice had good texture to accompany my meat dish. A fluffy Napoleon with creamy filling, powdered sugar and a fresh berry made for a sweet closing of my dinner.

Yelp
I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Ararat Bar and Grill last weekend and, let me tell you, it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we stepped into Ararat, the warm, inviting atmosphere set the tone for the evening. The decor, with its tasteful combination of modern and traditional elements, creates a cozy and comfortable ambiance that's just right - not too casual, but also not overly formal. The menu is a delightful fusion of traditional and contemporary dishes, and it's evident that the chef has put an incredible amount of thought into each item. We started with the eggplant rolls and lachmacu, which was a vibrant array of flavors and textures. For the main course, we had the kebab. Kebab was perfect, the appetizers were not memorable. The standout of the evening, however, was the impeccable service. The staff at Ararat were attentive and friendly, without being intrusive. They made excellent recommendations and seemed genuinely passionate about ensuring we had a great dining experience. And let's not forget the bar: it's well-stocked with an impressive selection of wines and craft beers, and the cocktails are simply out of this world. If you're looking for a place to have a great meal, relax, and be treated like a valued guest, Ararat Bar and Grill should be at the top of your list. It's a gem that truly encapsulates the essence of fine dining and warm hospitality. Can't wait to return for another round!

Yelp
It was the first time we visited "Ararat". I love Armenian and Georgian cuisines, so I was very excited about this combination. For dinner, we chose khachapuri "Adjarian style" and a portion of khinkali with lamb and pork/beef. As for me, it is better to serve khinkali with lamb with fresh cilantro, not parsley, but what stole our hearts was khachapuri! I've never tasted cheesier khachapuri than this in my life! It's just incredible! The pomegranate wine was also delicious! Thanks to our waiter - Oganes for his time, good service and attentiveness! We will definitely come here again! I recommend this place :)

Yelp
I hate this place. Food comes out very bland. Beer salad was ok! The Cornish Hen lacked any seasoning at $24, I expect flavor...Boo. The dill garlic fries were good. They can't make anything without onions, onions are included in everything. If like limitations for food, this is your spot. I'd only return if it were last place to dine or die!!!!! BTW, I gave it two stars because the server was cool.

Yelp
When I first walked in the door i was taken back by the upscale dining room. We had a wonderful experience from appetizers to desert. Our server Nikita was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He gave us great suggestions, enhancing our total experience. I am looking forward to returning for more delicious Russian/Armenian food. They also have a food market next door, another great find.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, however they were unnecessarily rude to my family from the beginning. We walked in at 7:15pm on Saturday -we were properly dressed. We asked for a table for 4, and were told they had nothing available unless we had reservations; so we left. Five minutes later we found they had spaces on Open Table online. We were able to book a table for 7:30pm. We went back to the restaurant and told them we had made a reservation. They looked into their book at the hostess desk & couldn't find us. We explained we had just made the reservation via Open Table & showed them the confirmation on our phone. The host was irate & rude: he told us 'it doesn't work this way' (all this time not one of the 3 employees we interacted with spoke a word of English). We tried to explain to them by showing them our phone that the restaurant had openings on Open Table, which allowed us to make a reservation. The host wouldn't have it; he kept going back to this book where he couldn't find us, obviously. He clearly said he remembered us (from 10 minutes prior) and that he had said there were no available tables (half the restaurant was empty). He was blatantly rude and treated us as if we had tried to trick him or force our way into their place (simply because we followed the recommendation to secure a reservation). At this point, we just walked out to avoid a confrontation; but this ridiculous situation could've very easily been avoided if the host had just said they were full for the night & were no longer taking bookings. A smile & a kind explanation would've gone a long way. Instead, we were treated like peasants, despite our attempt to bridge the language barrier. On top of that his attitude was untenable & flat out disrespectful. Needless to say, I'll never come back here.

Yelp
Always a fun place to come on a weekend. Live band and a very festive atmosphere. The mixed kebab platter was excellent and a good deal. Enough to feed 4 people with a couple of appetizers. Good food, fair prices, fun atmosphere, and very good service.

Yelp
It was sooooooooooo good . A classy restaurant with wonderful staff. I recommend it .

Yelp
Still was not contacted and apologized! Seems like business doesn't really care about ethic .

Yelp
We ordered take out. Not only they messed up our dishes and put wrong sides that we paid extra for, the food was horrible. 3 different shish kebabs were really dry and I threw them out. Did I say I paid over 100$ it?

Yelp
Came to Ararat yesterday second time. The first one was a couple of years ago and I only had dessert with coffee, so didn't write a review. This time I came on a date (hence no pictures). The place was busy, but we got a table and were seated right away. There is outside and inside seating. I should point out the service. Everybody from hostesses to waiters to other people working there, everybody was super nice, genuinely friendly, and eager to help. The food was excellent but that's expected. Service was not expected to be that good We had salmon kebab, lula kebab, khachapuri, and kompot and everything was amazing. I should also point out at the portions: seriously big portions. We didn't finish anything. The restaurant has live music, I think on weekends only. Might be wrong on that one. People do dance, if you are in the mood, there is space for that. The place is fancy, do dress up. I do recommend it. It's on a plaza, so there is plenty of parking.

Yelp
Mary and Michael were amazing in serving and helping us here at Ararat grill. I am Armenian so I can speak to the fact that their food is authentic and delicious!! For anyone who would any like recommendations the lahmajou, beef khinkali, beef Lula kebab, and black tea with cardamom was so tasty!

Yelp
One day trip to Miami The ambiance were so nice and cozy, The food was great and tasty The lamb shanks were so tasty and tender but it feels little bit old and smells like been in the freezer for a while. The service were not that good as expected, they should improve the quality of service little more.

Yelp
Being Armenian myself, I couldn't pass up the chance to visit the place, when I was in the area. Glad I did. The service was great, the live entertainment was fun, but the food was the star of the show. My starter, eggplant rolls, were so delicious and flavorful, almost as good as when I make them. Lavash was warm and fresh. And for my main course I had a fantastic sturgeon kebab with grilled veggies. Mouthwatering good. Somehow I managed to fit in a slide of the most delicious Napoleon cake with a nice 10 year old Armenian cognac. All in all, a great visit!

Yelp
I love it here! So diverse and the music/singers is always amazing during the weekends. I always feel so welcomed and trust my waiters are timely and attentive. You must order the Ajarian Khachapuri when you come as an appetizer and the Lamb Shish Kebabs for main course!

Yelp
Love the variety of food my Grandparents used to make when I was young. Good service & great ambiance!

Yelp
My husband and I came here tonight after driving up the coast and going for a nice drive. This restaurant is pre dominantly for Russian people. All the wait staff were Russian and all the guests were Russian. We had a hard job being understood and understanding our server. The food was tasty and very nice, for this alone I would give four stars, but the service was so hit and miss and became quite annoying after a while. We ordered some wine and water, we waited, it never came, then they said they did not have the bottle we wanted. We ordered another choice. We then proceeded to order our meal which was annoying for us because we like a glass of wine first. But time was wasted and lost. so the wine came, and no water, we asked again and then the salad arrived. My husband ordered a steak kebab and I ordered the chicken kebab. We also ordered their feta salad. This was the highlight of the meal, so, so good. The salad had fresh feta cheese, with cucumbers, tomatoes, green peppers and black olives and fresh fresh fresh herbs of green n purple basil and mint.. truly delicious. My chicken was very moist, husbands steak was over cooked and dry. It came with some thinly sliced potatoes, which were ok. Would have preferred normal fries to be honest. It also had a small side salad of tomatoes, red onions and cilantro. This was accompanied with a red tomatoe slightly spicy sauce. We had to ask twice for our water, twice for the check, and waiting waiting waiting.... and I asked for another red sauce and just KNEW it would not arrive, and it didn't. Because of the lack lustre service I give three stars.

Yelp
Came for a Birthday, was excited for the Armenian food and although the name of the restaurant is Armenian, it was really far from it. If you are expecting an authentic experience, you will be disappointed. It is very Russian here, The music and staff. The Armenian selection on the menu is very tiny. I will admit the Lamajun was excellent. Very tasty and the whole family enjoyed it. We tried to order the Tolma but they did not have it. We opted for another app, which looked like an oversized Manti, but it was a Russian dish, thats was really good as well. It was like a dumpling stuffed with lamb, served with sour cream. GET that! We ordered some Lavish bread, that was very dry and nothing to dip or put on it. Do NOT get. As for the entrees, they were just your standard run of the mill Kabobs, nothing special here. Some got lamb and others chicken. They were good, but nothing special. The Baklava, spelled with a P, was really good! Probably the best thing we had the whole meal. All in all, it was like a 3./3.5. Had higher expectations. Don't go thinking Armenian! Go thinking Russian.
google avatar

Yelp
The food and ambiance were very special. The appetizers and main course were delicious, so were the drinks. We ordered eggplant appetizer, bread with herbs baked to perfection, lamb shank and chicken lula kebab. Everything was superb. What impressed us the most was impeccable service. The music made the evening even more authentic and special. Will be back with friends!

Yelp
Very dissatisfied! Service at the beginning very good ( tall male) he introduced him self and ask if we were ready to order my husband ask for a bottle of wine! I told him to ask for an appetizer too! We ask for a Armenian pizza which was good, look weird but tasty! We told the server we gonna wait to get the appetizer n will order our main course later! Well he forgot about our table lol didn't ask how was the wine or the pizza! Finish it n waited for 25+ mins till a wave him n ask if he had a chance we need it to order he ask what we need I ask for lamb chanks he didn't say anithing he just run to kitchen n came back he said kitchen it's close lol! So I guess that was last call! We were celebrating our wedding anniversary thanks people was an amazing (not) experience! The ambience really good life music we had fun! We got drunk with the bottle of wine cuz we didn't eat lol.

Dee J.

Yelp
The food was good but the portions on the kebab could be bigger. The lack of size is made up for with the sheer tastiness and overall enjoyment I got from eating there. There is music and performers which adds to the ambience. The waiters are really nice and friendly and toped off the experience. I definitely recommend Ararat.

Jim L.

Yelp
Food here was everything I was looking for. Armenian/russian type of flavors and the loud music and party atmosphere made me feel right at home. Service was good also. Would recommend.

Alexia C.

Yelp
Delicious food! There was a confusion with my online order: I called them about it and they door-dashed my food, so I received it in about 20 min. The person who I spoke on the phone with was very helpful, nice, and apologizing. They also gave me order updates which was great! Would definitely order from here again!

Yelp
service is great, food is okay (except hachapuri) music is disgusting and horrible! !!!

Yelp
Great food variety and quality was outstanding , excellent service. Whether you're looking for a quick dinner option or a small party, I definitely would recommend Ararat Grill

Yelp
Good food, great atmosphere. We always come here where we're in Miami. Wish they opened up in WA
google avatar

Ivan B.

Yelp
Went but honesty kinda disappointed. The lamb was good but not something I'd seek out again. The potato and tomato was both bland and redundant to the plate. I understand lamb is tricky and expensive to make but $28 for all of this was very disappointing.

Vika K.

Yelp
Food is delicious. Lahmajo, lulya kebab, zhingyalov hac, medovik, armenian coffee are very good. Service is highest Ambiance is lovely Price is normal
google avatar

Jamie G.

Yelp
The staff were friendly but it was a little challenging communicating with some as there was a little language barrier. I ordered the steak kebab, while waiting for my order I had a watermelon mojito it was very refreshing and presented nicely. The steak was very flavorful and juicy but it was tough in some areas. The fries were seasoned okay but were barely warm. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice and cozy.

Yelp
I've been there many times food is delicious and service always on point, last time was little miscommunication with waiter, but manager (i think her name Anastasia) handle everything very professional!

Yelp
I can't breathhhhhh . This is how good is the food here and I'm a foodie but man the food here and the atmosphere is amazing . We tried their feta salad , Armenian cheese platter , pickled vegetables , cheese pie , Meat pies , Lamb pies and the big amazing mix grill that is a huge meal by it self . There were 4 of us hungry adults and we couldn't finish the food . Prices are reasonable but it's always busy here so make a reservation before you go on google .
google avatar

Taras M.

Yelp
This place is overpriced . Food wise is not even worth it . Would definitely recommend it to try once. But there is way better spots in the area.

Michael D.

Yelp
Great Good, Perfect Music! Food was Delicious, friendly waiter, fast service. great fro any day, especially Friday night- great Live Music, dance floor!

Yelp
I highly recommend this amazing place , very delicious food, very good customer service. And the life music was amazing we really liked the performance of a talented singer Maliq that was great . We definitely will be back to to have a good time.

Yelp
Had a pick up order from Ararat restaurant not too long ago . Was visiting my retiree parents . Was really surprised how nice this place looks , and been Armenian myself like to support any business that is related to my nationality . Anyways .. food was absolutely fantastic , ( chef is from Armenia as well ) We ordered lula kebobs ( chicken and beef ) .. I was sooo amazed , the taste and quality took me back home for a min . Also I learned , while waiting for our pickup order , this place has a life music and really upscale atmosphere for family or romantic date dinner . Thank you to a very nice girls that work there , and super nice manager .

Yelp
Food quality is mediocre and service was okay. Loud music won't let you hear anything. Maybe sitting outside would be a better option
google avatar

Natalie K.

Yelp
Delicous food & great service. The staff is friendly and attentive. The kabobs and potatoes were very tasty as was the Napoleon. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
We came from out of town and found an Armenian restaurant and we were so happy. If I lived in the area I would come once a week. The food was outstanding and the servers were so sweet. The pan fried chicken was delectable and we loved the lamb lule kebob so much that we almost ordered another one. The pickled vegetables and the rolled eggplant were also excellent. Go on a Saturday night to experience the fun, lively atmosphere. A definite if you're in the area!!

Angy G.

Yelp
On vacation with my husband and found this place accidentally... AMAZING ARMENIAN food. Surprisingly lots of russian clients. Just amazing ! Great location, good food. You won't be disappointed. Definitely must try.

Mark D.

Yelp
This restaurant is a wonderful place with amazing service and loads of cultural references. If your looking for a place in Miami where you can enjoy Armenian cuisine this is the place to go. The food here is very authentic and has immense amounts of cultural history. The restaurant itself has a lovely high class eastern aura around it and is perfect for family gatherings. Overall this restaurant is very well suited for celebrations, parties, and just overall dining.
google avatar

Micka M.

Yelp
Terrible service, disrespectful to customers . Was told that we have to wait for 15 minutes , after 15 minutes of waiting we were told that someone else will take our table

Michael D.

Yelp
This restaurant is very nice. Food is very good, and I like the live Russian/Eastern music. Make sure you make a reservation if going on a weekend however, as the place can be packed. Note that most of the servers speak Russian, but are in general friendly and professional, however they do also have English speaking servers so you shouldn't have any problem ordering. Also, this restaurant features both Armenian and what I call "Soviet style food" so if you are not used to eating Russian food, I would stick to the larger portion of the menu which is Armenian.
