This location is in Bixby Knolls, which I think based on location, might be a franchise where they have control over pricing.
I purchased a Pork Belly Sandwich from Arby's last month in Redondo Beach on PCH and it was $5.99, but that exact same sandwich here in the Long Beach area, at this location charged $7.49, which is a 25% increase in pricing.
The $1.50 may not seem like a lot of $, but on the % it's a huge price differential.
Nonetheless, I purchased it here anyway and it's a good sandwich.
The service here was okay, no complaints. I think 'tho, Arby's isn't pricing their food items by stereotypical fast food standards without value menu items and meals costing in the $5 range, so what they charge for their food now draws comparison to sit-down restaurants, and that's a battle they may lose in quality to value perception of what they offer through their counter service menu.
I think a meal with an entree sandwich, sides (fries) and a soda drink... a.k.a., a combo will set you back about $10 plus tax, but no tip. So, that is where the comparison of peer value comes into play.
I'd recommend they analyze their business model and see if they can get better volume in quantity of net profits by charging a bit less VS having a higher ROI off of quality %'s, but fewer customers. Food for thought to the owners.
