I, together with several members of my units, have stayed at Domaine de Murtoli on several occasions over the course of two decades. Although it never was our call, being on official business. It was also at the expense of taxpayers, so, not using our own money. This is also my first review ever. Important details in context.||||The domain itself is pretty amazing, and we did love it. Contrary to what is advertised, however, it is not unique, with many similar properties being offered around the world with much higher standards of service and at a much lower price: Bali, South Pacific, Indian Ocean, Montana, Alaska, Africa...||||The human element, however, is a major issue. Enough to ruin your stay and make the cost of the domain, however nice it may be, not worth it. They have no concept of service or what the standards of a 5-star are supposed to be. They are exceptionally arrogant, in the position that it is a privilege for guests to hand over their money, expecting the guests to be grateful for merely being allowed on the property (assuming the gate is not closed, that is) or even in Corsica for that matter. Guests are expected to adapt to their host and his staff (immediate family) rather than the other way around. Any comment that could be remotely construed as a complaint is met with contempt, insults and even threats. The owner also assumes that anything a guest points out is in bad faith and for the purpose of getting something for free... Unable to realize that the type of clients who can afford the domain tend to not really care about the money (including in our case as it is government expenses). One needs only to read the astonishingly unprofessional responses to negative reviews from the owner to get a better understanding of this review. Unfathomable indeed in any actual 5-star property. ||||To be fair, guests can get a pretty clear picture of what is to come when it comes to guest services, or lack thereof, during the booking process. It is archaic, inflexible, and in violation of French and EU regulations: Endless forms, unsecured methods of payment phased out and outlawed in the rest of the country and the EU, improper processing and storage of personal data. Absolute disregard for a guest personal circumstances: You're a Raider under fire in some war zone without access to a printer? Not their problem! Even if you are a repeat guest! Print the illegal and unsecured form, write your government credit card number with no credit limit as a blank check on it, scan it and send it back unsecurely via email, or else! ||||Then, once you are there, do not expect staff to accommodate any request, however reasonable, including a request for privacy. Every single stay, despite saying we wanted to be left alone, we had someone at the door every day, often several times a day: Housekeeping, maintenance, always someone. Pretty early in the morning as well. Access to food is unreliable too. They don't allow you to hunt on domain (understandable) but close restaurant without warning and when they feel like it. They also tend to lock guests in and out after hours. They also really dislike children. We never brought our own but were often appalled at the way they treated the kids of other guests. However behaved they may have been.||||Ultimately, the prospect of any stay at Domaine de Murtoli became a source of stress for me (and many of my guys). There is something fundamentally wrong with spending that amount of money, even if not ours, and be treated with such contempt. Dreading the booking and check in process, or any interaction with the staff, let alone the owner. The anticipation and excitement felt prior to the first stay became dread over the years.||||At this point, we will not stay at Domaine de Murtoli again. Even if we get paid for it. I'd rather set up a tent somewhere and be left alone.

We’ve been Murtoli guests for 3 nights in August. The Domaine is incredibly located, quiet and with a magical atmosphere. The beach -very exclusive and protected- is perfect for a relaxing stay. The room very comfortable, huge and with a good privacy, is well equipped. |The boat trip to “plage d’argent” has been amazing and the skipper was extremely professional and kind. ||On the other hand there are some points to improve (I’ve sent an email at the end of our stay but I did not received any feedback/answer, and I find this extremely unprofessional.) : |1) arrived at the reception, during the check-in nobody told us about the domaine, about the swimming pool, about the golf, about the beach, about restaurants, about ANYTHING ! Spending more than 1.000€/night means receive a different treatment. |2) The guy that brought us the lagguage in the room the day of the arrival, just left them (rudely) at the entrance of the room. We expected to have them inside the fitting room. |3) Breakfast a la carte is ok, but I expect more variety of food/drinks and different choices salty and sweet. service during the breakfast has been extremely basic (nobody greet us at the arrival in the breakfast room, we’ve needed to ask how it works and so far and so on.) 4) Only the last day there was a guy, very professional, smiling and suited to the domaine. |The day of the check out, at least a small bottle of water we expected but ... nothing . We just received a "have a nice trip, enjoy Corsica".

Murtoli is an experience you will never forget. We were a group of 12 friends traveling there to celebrate the 50 anniversary of one of them. |From the moment you step down from the car, someone is welcoming you. In our case it was the daughter of the owners welcoming us at 11.30 in the evening. She was extremely nice, explaining all the facilities, the program they have and all the possibilities we have around. |The check-in was fast - you had your welcome drink wile the formalities were done. The front desk staff was always nice and helpful. The bartender was also willing to accommodate all our wishes and stayed till the last order was done. |We stayed in the main part of the hotel, in a very beautiful rustic room that provided all the comfort you need. Cleaning was done several times a day, water provided all the time.|They also have a beautiful movie-like cigar bar for the smokers.|We had an exquisite dinner in the main restaurant. And when I say exquisite please understand that it was above any expectations one could have. |In another evening we had the dinner in The Grotte restaurant - that is an experience one could not miss. They even organized for local singers to come and make the evening unforgettable. |The breakfast was a minus, maybe because we did not choose the right package or because we were expecting a lot of fresh vegetables on the table and they did not have them listed in the menu. We had to ask several times for fresh tomatoes, they brought a few on the table and than the waiter just ignored us. The attitude of the waiters serving the breakfast was poor: the drinks came late, they did not say if something we order would not be possible to be done, they just ignored the requests. |In case you have asthma, as I do, remove the dried decorative plants from the room in order to sleep well.

When I read some of the other reviews I cannot help wondering if we were at the same place.|We went for lunch in the main Michelin star restaurant, La Ferme.|They were inefficient at reception and should be much slicker about knowing who you are and showing you to the table with out having to stand around. That aside we had an amazing lunch and hope to come back and stay here next time.|The wine list is the best on Corsica with an amazing “ local” selection as well as other regions and not badly priced. The service and food were perfect and we left very satisfied.

Yes it's a very special place for a lunch. Beach is wonderful and the restaurant is very nicely done. Food and drinks were good if monumentally overpriced - €30 for a cocktail which it is clear you are expected to have and menu items start at €40 each. Shabby chic. Nice if money isn't a big deal. But the occasion was ruined for me by the staff's dreadful and potentially dangerous ignorance of food allergies. I have coeliac disease and specifically checked that my choice of calamar was gluten free. Back came a dish with tiny croutons hidden throughout that I didn't spot until too late. Had I been more sensitive this could have been a serious problem. Although the dish was replaced there was no hint whatsoever of an apology, let alone concern for my well-being after in effect poisoning myself. Combine that with the lack of any offer of a glass of water - a pretty basic tradition in most cultures - and the impression is of a lack of hospitality and generosity in favour of extracting maximum cash.

My wife and I spent 3 nights here in late May, 2021. It's a truly special escape - we based our trip to Corsica around this visit and ended up spending another 7 days exploring the wonderful island. I think that many Americans and global travelers would find there are some 'rough spots around the edges' to the hospitality, but that is also what gives it its charm. What usually makes it special is how international the guests are (we went in May 2021 before FR was opened to non-Europeans).||||Domaine Murtoli is a special place. The property is enormous and beautiful, with ducks, boars, rabbits, cows, sheep and other animals all across the land. There are private beaches, hiking trails, old Genoese watch towers, and divine restaurants and accommodations. The property is extremely protected. ||||It's clear that you are at a high end resort where privacy is of the utmost concern when staying at Murtoli. The client attention and service is top notch. There are a few things, it's definitely a "bergerie" meaning the homes are sheepherder houses, so not super modern feel, very country and rustic. That's what gives it it's character and uniqueness. Also you need to do some shopping beforehand bc there is nothing prepared for you, you need to bring pretty much all the necessities especially bc it takes about 45 mins to get to a supermarket from there. ||||Lastly, the prices are high, but justified in some instances. Paying several hundred euros for a romantic dinner in their Grotte, including wine, makes sense. Paying 30 euros per person for a small fruit and yogurt breakfast, or 25 euros for a non-alcoholic cocktail, does not.

We had a hard time finding the restaurant on the beach, even with gps and instructions from reception. But we did find it. It is rather hidden in the brush, making it kind of romantic. Service was excellent. My girlfriend had gazpacho with tomato, veggies, and burratina. I had spaghetti with cherry tomatoes and burrata. They were delicious, but very expensive. The beach was large and beautiful.

The worst hotel experience I have ever had. The email thread attached below, which was very unprofessionally answered by the owner's 24 year old daughter, speaks for itself. Definitely not the honey moon experience expected. They have the most careless and inexperienced staff and count with a truly misleading website.
