The 9 Best Venezuelan Empanadas In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Don’t ask us to explain the period in this place’s name or why they have neon signs that make you think it’s 2am instead of 2pm—but we can tell you why you should come here: huge, delicious empanadas. There’s nowhere else near this Wynwood spot that compares. The empanadas are the size of your head, encased in a semi-sweet dough that’s fried to order, and filled with the saltiest cheese we’ve tasted. And we do mean that as a compliment, because we know Venezuelans miss their salty cheese. If you can handle the spice, give their housemade spicy sauce a try because it absolutely deserves an entire 10,000 word essay we don’t have room for here. " - Julia Malave

The Top Trends in Miami’s Food Scene - Eater Miami

"The humble arepa, a Venezuelan savory corncake served instead of bread in almost all of that country’s meals, captured Miami’s heart — and stomach — when South Florida realized how versatile and comforting this staple can be. Those yearning to visit a traditional Venezuelan “arepera,” which offers a dizzying selection of ingredients to be stuffed inside like cheese, meat, or the famous “Reina Pepiada” (avocado and chicken salad) frequent authentic spots like Doggi’s, La Latina, or arepa.bar." - Alona Martinez

The 11 Best Arepas in Miami | Eater Miami

"As one might guess from its name, Arepa Bar specializes in the corn-based sandwich. Offering options that run the gamut from classic filled with cheese and shredded meats to the more unusual like its take on the caprese, there is something for everyone at this Wynwood spot." - Eater Staff

Google
Extremely overpriced for the amount of food you get. When ordering, the dishes look huge only to be disappointed by what you actually get at the table. Look at my pictures and compare them to what they advertise on their menu and social media. I also asked for a cup of water and they said there was none and to buy a bottle of water - it’s a joke. No wonder the restaurant was completely empty on a Friday night. Venezuelan restaurants will continue to have a hard time attracting customers with these ridiculous prices.

Google
Great place with fantastic food, lots of flavor. Empanadas are giant. The sauces were also a huge hit. Went here with friends and everyone had a good time.

Google
If you're in Wynnwood, go check this place out. I stopped in for their burgers. The food was good and cooked to order. I had to wait about 15mins for my food to come out.

Google
Very good criollo breakfast and the empanada was delicious. Service was really good and coffee too. If you want Venezuelan food 100% recommend it. Very cute details too on the place

Google
So I hate paying to park n i only saw street parking, but this place is nice, small eating area could fit maybe 40 ppl ish, it's wynwood so go for early lunch or dinner or it will get packed, the food was great a little expensive but it's well worth with ill come again with family and friends if they are into arepas, well sized menu and pictures, u don't understand how awesome is a menu with pictures of every item, will be coming back, would have a 5 star if I didn't have to pay for parking but that ain't there fault

Kamyla Gilly

Google
This is one of my favorite Venezuelan restaurants! The empanadas are amazing, especially the shredded beef one. The cachapas and arepas are also delicious, and I absolutely love their coffee. It’s definitely a must-visit spot!

Google
All the guys who serve you are super friendly, especially Carlos, he cares a lot about how the food was, the dishes are delicious, I've gone many times and I ask for something different every time, I recommend arepa bar 100%

Claudia Alvarez

Google
I have been here many times and every time I love the place even more. The service is excellent, the food is always fresh and good, the flavor has not comparison. The decor is great, and they keep it clean. The music is good, the people around is great. If you are looking for a place to have a good time and enjoy the good food Arepa Bar is the place to go.

Yelp
Lively and casual spot for arepas and other Latin American food. I wanted the reina pepiada arepa but they were out so I had the pollo lovers arepa (without cheese). The arepa itself was so good and crispy. The grilled chicken was flavorful and tender and pico, avocado, and spicy garlic sauce were great additions. I also added the cilantro mayo because it was a bit dry but that's a personal preference. My only gripe was that it was very messy and hard to eat. Also the service was quick and the cashier was friendly!

Yelp
I absolutely love this Venezuelan restaurant in Miami! It's my favorite Venezuelan spot in town. I've had the pleasure of trying various items on their menu, from the appetizer sampler to the pepitos, arepas, and empanadas operadas. Every dish has been incredibly delicious, and the service is impressively speedy. While it's a casual spot, the food never fails to satisfy my cravings. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Great service and delicious arepas. We got the one with plantains and black beans with meat. I forgot the name but it was delicious and memorable. We were visiting from San Diego.
google avatar

Rupa N.

Yelp
For starters we got sweet plantains and tequenos but they ended up coming with the arepa. The sweet plantains needed a dipping sauce besides that garlic and lady killer one so I did ask for crema. I got a white cheese arepa with black beans. It was super filling and I couldn't finish it. They don't skimp out on the filling which is good. I felt like the arepa lacked in salt and the beans lacked in some flavor. The sauces they provide help to add flavor but wish the beans had more flavor and the arepa had salt. Parking was street parking and we were able to go find parking across on a Saturday afternoon. You go up to to the counter and order and they bring it out to you. I wish they had a mini version if you're not as hungry. If you haven't had an arepa or if you like arepas I suggest you try this place!

Yelp
The chicken salad arepa was so creamy, unctuous, and delicious. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
Average at best; very expensive for their location and for what it is. Cashier didn't even speak English. Go to Pepitos Plaza or Budare Bistro for a MUCH better experience. Extremadamente costoso.

Yelp
Amazing Venezuelan spot in Miami. Everything we had was so good I didn't even think to take more pics. The wall art is awesome as to be expected in wynwood and the service was exceptional as well. Weeepaa

Yelp
The food was amazing, service was good and ambiance was normal, it's a cute little spot in Miami

Yelp
Went here to meet up with a friend 'today' which neither of us live near! She's Venezuelan & I've been craving Arepas, saw reviews & they where good till this occur! Hello are you guys open?! On here it says you are! Doesn't take a genius to figure out how to leave a message on your voicemail saying your close, leave a message on your door or to update your web page! Ended up going to Suviche!

Yelp
Food was good, but the overwhelming smell of mold was to much for me...I went into anaphylactic shock and had to us an inhaler and Benadryl to open up my airway...almost went to the hospital

Yelp
Amazing food! Huge portions. I cannot wait to come back! I wish there were more locations closer to Orlando.

Yelp
Arepa Bar is a hidden gem in wynwood! Wow so delicious. I stumbled upon this restaurant searching through Yelp looking for a new lunch spot to bring my co-workers to. Im glad I found this restaurant and we will be coming back! The steak and cheese cachapa is what I ate and with a Yelp check in they give you a free order of tequeńos! Great table appetizer to share amongst the table. It comes with 5 bite sized pieces. To drink I had a beer from Veza sur "Spanglish" great complement to my cachapa! We also ordered Chicken Arepa, and La Street Burger. Both highly recommended as lunch options as well. Come check this place out if not sure what to eat! You definitely won't be disappointed

Jill G.

Yelp
I had the vegetarian arepa and my family loved everything they ordered, especially the empanadas. We tried papelon con limon for the first time and ordered seconds. Fun mural inside and service was great!
google avatar

Andrea F.

Yelp
The service was really good, very friendly and courteous. The arepas were cheesy and fresh. The churros were very flavorful. Great portion for the price. I would recommend.

Yelp
Super great atmosphere! Real Venezuelan food , great price ! We had cachapas , the sampler that brings everything in mini portions , enough for 2 people , price is great for people we spent around 60+ tip service was ok , not bad. They were just a little busy I just realize I didn't take any pictures but trust me it was good !

Yelp
I want to come back and try some more items on the menu, I feel this place deserves another chance. We ended up getting 2 arepas, I expected service to be faster but that didn't really impact my overall review of this place. Our food came out on the colder side, so we ended up getting it to go and reheating it at home. The arepas were tasty tho!

Yelp
I've visited at least 10 times and each time no matter what I'm a happy camper with the food. I know the establishment is called Arepa.bar but the burgers are just as good. My personal favorites are the LA street burger and the Princesa Pepiada. Make sure you do leave some extra space for an order of fried Oreos or churros. I sometimes order via a third party app but the ambiance is really nice. They always have a good playlist and the Wynwood inspired decor adds on to the experience. On top of great food you'll also enjoy the great customer service. The servers are always really nice and welcoming. Can't wait to be back for an eleventh time!

Yelp
This quaint Arepa bar located in midtown delivers a yummy arepa. Seeing the pics on yelp & Instagram I just had to try this place out, so on a Saturday afternoon we headed to see what its all about. The atmosphere is simple a few scattered tables, tv s and drawings on the wall. We decided arepa pastel Lon, this one had shredded meat, beans, white cheese, avocado & plantains. It was bursting with all the different flavors, super good. My hubby had a similar arepa with gouda cheese also yummy. You can add fries & soda as a combo. These arepas are super stuffed and so one can really fill you up. They also offer burgers and other treats. The server was very nice and brought us a free appetizer for checking with yelp. They were fantastic. We enjoyed trying something new and It was worth the trip. They have metered parking right on the street and was easy to find a spot. Total bill about $35.

Yelp
Leaving a Yelp review because they blocked me on Instagram and deleted my comment. Terrible service!! I just placed an order online, I was charged and have my receipt, when I show up to pick up my order they said they don't have an order for me, even though I'm showing them the receipts and order confirmation and that I was charged. The person at the cash register just kept saying I'm sorry we don't have your order. Now I need to call my bank and cancel that transaction. NEVER ORDERING FROM HERE AGAIN. THEIR REPLY: i heard it was a gentleman who came for the order and didn't say under which name it was, we are trully sorry for the inconvenience, We will make the refund, its kinda unnecessary to spread hate about our establishment for an error on both parts. MY REPLY: he DID say the order was for Dayhana, several times because I was on speaker with him, he also showed you guys the receipts and confirmation of the order!! It's ok I will never order from a place that cannot admit their mistake and apologize to their costumer. Idk who's running your social media but y'all need to do better!! Spend more money on your reputation management "it's ok don't order from us"

Yelp
Stumbled upon this spot on my way home and it did not disappoint! I ordered the arepa de pabellón and a polar to go. The wait was about 10 minutes but it was well worth it. The arepa was medium size but was filled with all the toppings it was delicious no grease no mess just a nice arepa with good flavor! I will definitely stop by and explore the other options on their menu!
google avatar

Yelp
Loved this spot!!! These arepas are game changing. The arepas are fresh and clearly hand made. The cachapa which is a thicker arepa was my hang over cure. Literally the most amazing flavors and the meat was so well seasoned. Highly recommend especially if trying to sober up or on a hunt for something salty and satisfying

Yelp
Having just moved to the area, it's only right that the first place I Yelp gets a 5/5 star! But, it's well-deserved! Initial taste test for Arepa.bar: FIRE! I ordered the vegetarian arepa: this comes with white cheese, black beans, avocado, sliced tomatoes, and sweet plantains. I wanted something filling, but didn't want to feel sluggish after - that's why I opted for a meat free order. For my vegetarian foodies: this arepa will not disappoint! The sweet plantain perfectly compliments the savory flavors of the black beans and avocado. The arepa is fresh, crisp on the outside, and soft on the inside. It's absolute perfection at a perfectly reasonable price! I added an order of truffle fries. As a self-proclaimed french fries connoisseur - I would highly recommend ordering these! They're thinly cut and crunchy, which is my favorite! They're made with the right proportion of truffle and grated parmesan, so you're able to taste both flavors. Pro tip: try dipping the fries in the garlic sauce - thank me later. For garlic lovers: don't sleep on the garlic dipping sauce, it's amazing! You must order it.

Yelp

Yelp
This was my first time trying arepas and I was so impressed! The arepas are basically meat and cheese filled sandwiches. Since Venezuelan food is really meat heavy, most of the items on the menu were not vegetarian. Our waiter (who also might have been the owner?) was very helpful to help us pick out their most popular items/things that were within our dietary restrictions. The arepas we ordered were dry (personal preference though, nothing wrong with them since arepas are supposed to be like that) so I drenched it with their aioli's they had on the side. The basil and garlic aioli was amazing! Let me get to the best part...The TRUFFLE FRIES. They are to DIE for. They're thin, crispy, not greasy and so flavorful. I loved dipping it into the basil and garlic aioli (I really loved those sauces). The fries are easily sharable but I can guarantee once you try one, you'll want all the fries to yourself. I was genuinely sad when I was leaving this place thinking I would have to wait to come back to Miami to have these arepas/fries again.

Yelp
Ordered for take out and was not disappointed. We got the reina pepiada with churrasco & the shredded beef with plantains and cheese arepas. They give you free tequeños with check in we ordered them over the phone and told them we would check in as soon as we got there and they had zero issues with that. Food was ready in about 15 min. When we got there the cashier was very friendly and helpful getting us sauces and utensils. We paid, went to the pool and munched out on yummy arepas and tequeños. The food was hot and very well packaged. Will definitely be coming back for more!

Yelp
Art! Art! Art Arepas! Arepas! Cachapas The ambiance: This is off the hook, located near the design/art districts, it is full of graffiti art inside. Great vibe.it has a couch and games. Great atmosphere with good music The service: had a great waitress, who either looked like Sailor Venís or Sailor Moon (irrelevant to the food/service but Im a sailor Venus fan) help me pick out the food, she was helpful. Not being Venezuelan I'm always stressed out by the amount of delicious cheeses they offer with the cáchala- and she was kind enough to give me her opinion but still bring me a sample of the guayanés cheese and the queso de mano. Ultimately I chose the queso de mano-- just a little bit more consistency and hardness. This is customer service! Loved it. The food: just dropped by for late breakfast at 11:30am and got some rice, beans, and fried eggs and the cachapa.. well, Ivd never had such a sweet, delicate and a slight hint of crunchiness and delicious cáchapa. It was perfect-- it wasn't overflowing with cheese, or sauce-- which at times is used to overcome a failure in flavor. Can't wait to come back

Yelp
Fresh tasty food! Got delivered in a timely manner. Healthy food that didn't make us feel yucky when we finished eating.

Yelp
Awful service. Wasted an hour of parking to see the staff serve other tables that arrived after us and not even give us an update on our order. We left without eating.

Yelp
So good! I like arepas peludas Amazing Service and the place look great! Congratulations

Fion C.

Yelp
Our airbnb was close to this restusrant so we just walkedm there are street parking along the front of the restaurant. There indoor and outdoor seating. Theres a comfy couch with a tv across from it playing music. The arepa was crazily stuff with cheese. I had to take half of it off before I could take a bite. But when i did take a bite it was probably the best thing I ever ate. Theres 2 different spicy sauces they serve. The orange one was the one I tried. Not that spicy but gives it a little flavor. I think its kindnof overpriced because you can get a whole meal gor a price of one sandwich. I personally would come here again to try the other arepas!
google avatar

Jenn M.

Yelp
If you're in the mood for arepas this is definitely the spot! Everything tastes delicious The small arepitas we're so fluffy and scrumptious, the perfect appetizer. We also tried the "pabellón" arepa (not pictured) the pieces of maduros inside was the perfect touch of sweetness. This was my first time trying a cachapa and I didn't know the crust would be mushy, I wasn't too much of a fan. Lastly the deep fried Oreos were superb need to come back and have the pabellón!!!
google avatar

Jack C.

Yelp
Great little spot. I ordered it from Uber Eats and it came fast. The food was delicious

Yelp
I order online for takeout the Arepa Pabellón it was good and tasty ... was greeted upon arrival and felt welcomed

Yelp
I do love arepas! We stopped here on our way down to Key Largo because it was close to the highway exit and because it's gluten-free. We ended up getting four arepas which was too many for the two of us since these were so big. I had the server get me the three best sellers and then I picked a fourth one which was I believe the Sicilian,. That was probably one of my favorites as it had pesto, caso, tomato. The carne arepa was my husband's favorite. There was only one that I didn't particularly care for that was a chicken salad Arepa. But it was not bad enough for me to give this place less than five stars. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat. Sidenote: this place is very busy and there were a lot of people dining in. We got our food to go and it's very difficult to eat these large, messy arepas in a car. The plastic silverware provided also could not cut through the arepa so it was a messy eat.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Venezuelan arepas are like corn cake pita pockets and the ones here come with various fillings. The *Capresa* I ordered sounded like a lighter option with Mano cheese and tomatoes on the inside and a basil aioli drizzle. The Mano cheese reminded me fondly of fresh mozzarella. The corn cake itself I felt was greasier than the Colombian arepa I had the other day. Somehow the texture remained light and fluffy though. My *Classic Chicha* on the side was a milky and creamy rice drink with cinnamon. A little sweet and heavier than I anticipated. I wasn't expecting a milkshake but it was delectable for what it was. I was tempted by the *Churros* in addition to everything else. I wish I knew to get the Nutella, dulce de leche and condensed milk on the side because they give you quite the heavy helping of each drizzled across the *7* churros! That's a lot of churros for only $7.50! These were airy on the inside with a wonderful and audible crunch. Perfection! The theme here is kind of retro with a nod to the video game culture. There were many tables inside and some couches near the front but the vibe here seemed more like a bar setting. Food came out fast but my server did disappear on me to go on break before giving me my check? So I was there 1 hour too long. These Venezuelan arepas were nonetheless the perfect late lunch, and very inexpensive to boot!

Herminio S.

Yelp
Amazing food great service and the ambiance what super chill, a place I will go back to
google avatar

Ronald l.

Yelp
Let me start by saying you must try pollo cachapa. Its a lot of food and great taste. Sweet corn like an arepa with cheese and chicken served like a. Sandwich but not really able to pickup. Place serves beers and unique juices and tequenos which are cheese wrapped in bread like a snack And served with dipping sauces. Just really nice place and very clean. Not a lot of parking but there are places not far away to park and they do use Grubhub for delivery
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, service and atmosphere. First time eating arepas and this place has set some high standards. Recommend for anyone looking for flavorful and delicious arepas! Our experience: We arrived hungry and ready to try some arepas. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with the menu. The vibe was casual and the decor was chic/modern. It was very colorful inside and the music was good. We ordered the Meat Lovers, Blonde Avocado and Vegetarian. My boyfriend who's a total meat lover got the meat lovers arepa and said it was very good. We shared the Blonde Avocado and it was also very good. The shredded chicken was flavorful and juicy and worked well with the avocado and the shaved gouda cheese. Yum. My dish - the Vegetarian Arepa was amazing. The avocado chunks, black beans, sweet plantains, tomato and white cheese combo was delicious. It was sweet from the plantains yet salty from the cheese and beans. Must try for sure! We had some of the garlic aioli with our arepas and the house made sauce was bomb.com! When we come back to Miami again, we will definitely come again.

Yelp
As a Venezuelan living in the US, I love finding places like these that take me back home. The food was delicious and very authentic to what I remember. There were lots of options to choose from and the wait time wasn't long at all! Loved getting to visit and will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Fresh ingredients and oh so filling. Loved the service too. Incredibly fast and professional. 5 stars for a great lunch!

Yelp
Without yet tasting the food (I'm about to upon writing this review) I'm giving this restaurant a low rating on account of what just happened when I picked up my food. I ordered food from them through Toast which gave me the option of a curbside pick-up. Once I got to the restaurant I called them and let them know I was outside, to which they responded "ok". We hung up and I thought someone was coming out to bring me my order but then I get a call about 3 minutes later with a lady asking me if I was going to come inside to pick up my order (What?!). I told the lady that i was given the option for curbside pick up and she responded that she couldn't go outside because "it is raining" lol. First of all, it was a lie because it wasn't raining at all, second of all, even if it was hurricane force rain outside, why is that my problem? This place doesn't understand the meaning of customer service so I doubt I'll be going back here. Update: changing my review from a one star to a three star because the food was good, but they really need to work on their customer service.

Yelp
One of my favorite Venezuelan places. Different because the place is very comfortable and it's really cool and pretty. Decorations are amazing and the food reminds you the good culture of Venezuela. For sure the best cachapa you will find. Better than other Venezuelan restaurants such as Arepazo, Budare, doggies, etc. Come and try it.
google avatar

Yelp
Wonder menu! Everything was great. Our server was amazing - not sure what her name was but she was thin & had straight light brown hair. My father & I yelped this place while we were in the area. I live in Texas, but come visit my family often. We had the empanaditas mixtas - chicken & shredded meat. Very tasty. They had sugar in the dough... the way it should always be done. Then we had a cachapa pelua con queso de mano. It was huge. We split it & still has some left over. We finished off with a marroncito. This was a great quick meal. I will definitely be coming back on my next visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Found this place in IG, I love arepas and decided to try. They didn't have reina pepiada which is the one with chicken and avocado, so I went with the chicken and cheese ( it was very salty) My friend ordered the cachapa with chicken, and it was absolutely delicious! Place is very cool and nicely decorated and has a nice vibe. Come enjoy

Yelp
I just married a Venezuelan, so I'm starting to fancy myself a Venezuelan food connoisseur ;-). Arepa.bar was fantastic, but I had a couple gripes: 1. They don't have as many veggie options as I'd have liked. They definitely cater to the meat-lovers among us, even offering a "Big Board for 2" with every kind of meat you could imagine! 2. They were somewhat expensive - about $10 per arepa, on average! All that being said, my capresa arepa was wonderful. The mano cheese was some of the best I've ever had! The arepa itself was super moist and fresh. My husband also loved his Meat Lovers Arepa, and our friend loved his Pelua Cachapa. I wish I could have tried them- major FOMO! The vibe in this place was also super cute. Very colorful, with a graffiti theme. I would definitely go back next time I'm in Miami!

Mays K.

Yelp
The chicken arepa was overflowing, but just didn't taste good at all. The chicken just tasted really bad, I'm not sure what it was but I've had way better arepas. I do like the option to add eggs and more ingredients than other arepa places, but the execution wasn't good.
google avatar

Amber M.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite arepa restaurant in MIA. The meat lovers arepa is absolutely delicious. Truffle fries always hit the spot. And their garlic cilantro aioli! Oh my. Put that on anything and I will eat it. Great service and super fast food preparation. You can go wrong with these arepas.
google avatar

Mauricio V.

Yelp
Covid friendly spot. Have 3 tables outside. The service was outstanding! The young lady was very sweet. We will be back!
google avatar

Reinaldo T.

Yelp
It is ok but way too expensive. My bill was $24 when I can get the same thing at Don Pan for $12. At Don Pan, the breakfast comes with Arepa and a Coffee. Here the same breakfast has the same pricing but the coffee and the arepa are extra $4 each. Then a juice extra $4. I won't come back.

Stopped by on a Tuesday night with my bicycle group. The arepas were good - so my only complaint is that the churrasco is definitely not Skirt steak...it's some other type of beef (maybe top round?). It wasn't bad but it wasn't what I was expecting. Now let's talk about what was great...the arepa shell itself was amazing! The churros were the best in town & the tiny skinny french fries were oh so good! They serve Heinz ketchup which I'm a super fan of. All-in-all this place is fresh. I will stop by again for sure.
