We saw this restaurant (Ariani Ristorante) on this food group and decided to give it a try last night for dinner. We arrived about 6 pm, it wasn't too busy, but they looked to have a good dinner service while we were there. We sat at the bar (full alcohol bar) and Heather took great care of us. They provided a free bread and butter course. The bread was excellent, I forgot to ask if it was made in-house or not. But it reminded us both of the bread from Amighetti's in St. Louis. Crispy, and light. We split the Ceasar salad and it was nicely dressed (we added the anchovies). It was very good. My wife got the appetizer portion of the eggplant Parmesan (it's a half portion, and doesn't have the pasta or spinach the dinner portion does), and she said it was excellent. I tried it and agreed. Thin slices of eggplant, sliced lengthwise. Sauce was light and very tasty. I got the penne Padrino (garlic and olive oil with broccoli and mushrooms, I added grilled chicken). It too was excellent. This place had been in business for over 35 years, and I can see why. I wish we would have tried it sooner, it was an overall great experience. Staff was friendly, service was prompt, decor was "old school" (think Frank walking by) but attractive and clean, prices were good and the food was very tasty! We're definitely coming back!
