Mixed feelings after my visit to ARK. While the tasting menu had several highlights that were creative and delicious, the experience was marred by significant inconsistencies. Out of 9 courses, 2 were major disappointments: the eggplant under foam was both overly salty and bland—a jarring transition after a nearly perfect glazed donut—and the mushroom risotto was flawed by an overpowering sourness. We even overheard guests at two neighboring tables expressing similar confusion, with one person remarking, "I’m surprised you finished that."
The service left us with a sour taste before the meal even began. Despite arriving only 3 minutes before our reservation, the staff forced us to wait outside in the freezing wind and cold. Once seated, the service was generally okay—they were professional and not overbearing—but no one bothered to apologize or address the issues with the dishes. While there is clearly talent in the kitchen, the lack of cohesion and the rigid start to the evening made the experience feel disjointed. For a restaurant of this caliber, I expected a more consistent culinary journey and a warmer welcome.
