"Arkeste is another relaxed fine dining restaurant that skips the frills and formality. It’s located on the Chamonix Wine Estate in Franschhoek and is a perfect lunch stop along Cape Town’s wine route. The menu mixes Mediterranean and Continental classics with a distinct South African twist—think red wine-glazed springbok with pommes croquette, confit duck with sunflower seeds and beetroot, and for dessert, orange buchu ice cream and almond parfait. Made booking online before our trip to CT. Had to pay a pre reservation fee to secure our booking which we did not mind as Arkeste was highly recommended on the requested feed. It was a cold and rainy winters evening, we were the first to arrive and later another couple. We had a warm and friendly greeting with hospitable staff tending to us. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, just wish we had a day view as the surroundings has a nature feel surrounded with trees. Warm and delightful ambiance. The menu is crazy cos every item is tastefully described making you to wanna order everything. It gets more frustrating when they tell you about the specials which leaves you more confused. Loved everything we ordered. Our taste buds were dancing. Mouthful of flavours coming together. The trout starter was original and a must try. My only irritation was the choice of crockery - everytime I let go of my knife it slid into the rounded plate messing up my knife.

Best dining experience of my life. I have eaten all over France, Italy, Maldives, Mauritius, Turkey and at some of South Africas best restaurants. Last night I had the best dinner of my life. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. It felt like we were in a luxurious tree house. The lighting and music was perfect. The service was incredible and the food was out of this world and the pricing very fair. We ate at Le Petit Ferme the night before and we were highly disappointed. Thanks to the staff at Arkeste for the most amazing evening and also for going above and beyond by sending my niece home with a doggy bag filled with the salmon pate and burnt butter crackers because she loved them so much. So extremely kind of the chef! We can't wait to come back again.

We were staying close by and chose to walk up the hill through the vineyards to Arkeste. A most pleasant way to arrive in the setting sun. Service was attentive and the food splendid. Specials were presented and amazing, I had the mushroom ravioli and saffron risotto with prawns! The pannacotta was sublime. Would definitely return

Relaxed fine dining perfection! Fantastic atmosphere, perfect service and wonderful food! Stand outs were the perfectly baked bread and dips, baked Alaska salmon which had the most interesting flavours, loved the sorbet palette cleanse and the ostrich was outstanding!

Outstanding - one of the best meals we have had in South Africa with superb service. The cusine is highly imaginative and beautifully presented. We had such a good lunch we went back again in the evening to try a couple more of the courses. The staff were charming, efficient and knowledgeable. The decor is simple and unpretentious, with the restaurant being located in an old farm building on the Chamonix Wine Estate. Highly recommend!

Really interesting dishes, decent portions for fine dining, delicious and great value. Complimentary amuse bouche and palate cleanser were a nice touch. Would be great if they had mosquito repellent to offer as there are a lot of bugs due to the location. We loved it!

The pork belly, beef, and cured duck were all delectable. The presentation at this establishment was superb, not to mention the taste itself. 10/10, would come again if we lived here.

The location of the restaurant is absolutely amazing… close to the forest and the interior design is very relaxing. The food was super tasty and well presented. They welcome you with delicious bread plate and before starting the food and between each course a they bring a small palate cleanser. I tried the Japanese plate for started and eggplant unagi and lentils cappelletti.
